Exchange Account Grayed Out

Has anyone had a user with an Exchange Account created but when they go in to settings the account is grayed out?

It will be greyed out if the Restrictions have been set, either manually or by a company MDM solution, to disallow account changes. You might the Restrictions and see if that is perhaps the case.

2 of my 4 e-mail accounts, that I access via Mac Mail suddenly became 'grayed out' between the morning, when I was checking e-mail on my laptop at home, and the mid-afternoon,when I tried to check mail again while the laptop was on
the campus network.
Running snow leopard 10.6.1, Mail Version 4.1 (1076); have had File
Vault ON the past 10 days due to travel but normally it has been off.
Affected accounts were a personal commercial mail service (POP) and my main work account (Exchange IMAP) but my g-mail (POP) and alternate work account (IMAP but not exchange)were not affected. Connection Doctor says connection and login to
server on both accounts succeeded.
Both grayed-out accounts appear fully functional by alternate access
(web mail versions (both), iPhone (both), & Microsoft Outlook on
Windows for the Exchange IMAP account). Both accounts are enabled. I
have not, to the best of my knowledge, changed the account settings for
either account in Mail preferences or on the servers via alternate
access.
The same problem persists now on my home network again (cable modem/airport wireless, all working smoothly for non-mail related activities).

I had un-enabled and re-enabled, but not checked 'take online/take offline'. One of them did offer 'take online', so that may have been its problem.
For the other one, after un-enabling the other 3 accounts, it spontaneously started downloading the waiting mail, so was back online.
I thought it might be something ridiculously simple like this that I'd accidentally messed with....not that I was even aware of this option until now. Still don't know how I managed to take them offline, without meaning to, but now that I know about this, can check here first if it happens again. thanks!

Free efax for hp photosmart 6525 'create account' grayed out

Trying to setup my free efax account and the "create account" portion is grayed out only allowing you to click "log in." Can someone explain this to me? thanks!

Account Grayed Out

This has happened 3 times now. And to my knowledge nothing has changed on my computer:
I turn on my tower in the morning and one of my email accounts is grayed out with a message that it is offline. I have tried restart; same gray.
I can go to my mail on my laptop and all the accounts are there and working.
Anyone know what's up?

At the Mail.app menu bar, go to Mailbox > Online Status and select "Take - the name of this account" online.

New-To-Do grayed out for mail on Exchange account?

I just wanted to understand why the _new to-do_ is always grayed out for mail residing on my Exchange server. Is there a way to get around this?

lots of people seem to be havgin a problem sending email from iCloud webmail.
does your email address have uppercase characters in it?
if so, try creating an alias in lowercase (go to preferences in iCloud webmail and select 'accounts') and see if email sends okay from that

Mail account is grayed out in settings

My current exchange account is grayed out in settings making it impossible to add another account or delete the current one. In addition, the current account often reports that an email did not download or that a message cannot be moved to trash. With the account grayed I am finding it difficult to change anything.

Make sure that Settings > General > Restrictions > Accounts is not set to Don't Allow Changes

It sounds like you might need to contact Yahoo! if you aren't able to setup your email account as a new account after deleting it.

The most efficacious way to get your music and other personal data onto your new Mac is to restore it from the backup you made of your old computer. Once that is done you can re-enable iTM on the new Mac and your iPhone.

I am trying to set up e-mail on a second user account but mail preferences is grayed out. I have looked at some posts which indicate it could be corrupt file and say to deletee .plist but I cannot find that at all. Any suggestions?

1. If you haven't tried this already, just delete the user account entirely, and then try setting it up again.
2. To find the permissions file:
     a. hold down the option key
     b. go to the Go menu in the finder
     c. scroll down to Library and open it
     d. in Library, go to Containers/com.apple.mail/Data/Library/Preferences
     e. drag it to the trash and restart.
3. if that doesn't work, go to Applications/Utilities/Keychain Access. In the Keychain Access menu, do Keychain First Aid, and repair.
This should keep you busy for a while.

'sign in' button grayed out when adding account-email address has five letters after the '.'

so i have this email account that uses a peculiar sever name with five letters after the '.' ie: [email protected] the thing is i can set up the server and user name and pass for the account so that it connects and syncs fine. the only problem is that i have to leave out one of the letters at the end of the address when setting it up or webOs will not let me sign in (the button is grayed out).
so to get around it, i just left off one of the letters at the end ([email protected]). this let me set up the account BUT i can't send emails because the server requires that all messages come from the internal accounts with all five leters in the suffix ([email protected]) and since my address is missing a letter it won't accept and out going emails.
Is there any way i can get around this? either by disabling the prevention of entering in 5 letters after the '.' or by going somewhere to add the letter back in after the fact. Please help!!! Thanks

The problem is where you enter your address and password for ESMTP (outgoing authentication)? Many mail clients let you check a box to use the same username and password that you use to retrieve email. I gather that isn't an option in webOS?

Email Accounts settings is grayed out. What can I do?

The Email Accounts Settings has been grayed out. I cannot make any changes to my current email accounts, add new, or delete old email accounts. How can I ungray it?

In my case, no restrictions are enabled. Accounts still grayed out. I was forced to change my appleid password and now everything is dorked up. I have gone everywhere I know to put in the new password. It works on the phone and on my computers, but not on the iPad.

Mobile Account Sync Is Grayed Out

One of our users started having problems using account syncing, they had contracted Flashback and asked to have their OS reinstalled. The system is bound to AD and things worked for a while and then they installed VirusBarrier X6 and made some changes. At first the sync wouldn't work and now the option is grayed out for all users on the computer from the Preferences Pane. We have unbound and rebound the system and tried a permissions repair. What might be blocking this service from running? Thanks!
