Exchange / ActiveSync - Works for a day or so, then stops

I've had my iPhone 3G since launch and have configured it to work with my Exchange 2003 server utilizing activesync at work. It will connect and sync fine for a day or so, however then it will start giving me a "cannot get mail" "cannot connect to server" error message. The phone has plenty of signal and can reach the net, the exchange box is online and functioning properly. If i delete and recreate the account on the iPhone it starts syncing properly again, however it's only a matter of 24-48 hours before i have to repeat this process...any suggestions?

Same here since beta. I'm an Exchange admin and we've been seeing this since the last 2 beta releases before iPhone OS 2.0. Running Exchange 2003 SP2. We set up ActiveSync from scratch, just for iPhone use. Windows mobile phones work without a hiccup on the same system. Problem happens with either the original iPhones or 3G. And it's totally random for different users. Works fine for a couple days, then stops. The best routine we found to get back up and running is: turn off 3G and wifi. Delete account settings on the iPhone. Re-enter Exchange account info and reboot the phone. This will usually re-sync everything. I'm leaving my phone in this non-3G, non wifi mode, and it seems the most stable. The following things seem to cause it to break for me: opening emails with large attachments, switching to wifi, or just wait long enough and it breaks. Once it's broke, I usually have to do the whole "delete account setting" routine to get it back. I tried reconfiguring our internet-facing front end to use ISA server as is required for Exchange 2007, with delegated kerberos authentication . When ISA server was in place, we had 2 out of 10 iPhones able to function. I had to switch back, because I was getting yelled at We have a line of people at my work asking when this will be fixed. And a bunch of admins running around and trying different settings on their phones. We can't make it an "officially supported" email device until this works.

  • I just got a MacBook Pro 10.8.2.  but facebook only works for about 3 minutes and then stops loading.

My computer is completely new with nothing on it at all.  It was bought in the USA but i am living and using the computer in Israel, i dont know if that matters.  every other website that i have gone on works just fine, facebook is the only one that stops loading after a few minutes.  Please help.  I dont know computers well at all and dont know the "computer language"  so please if someone could help me and explain to me very simply what i need to do to fix the problem.
    THank you so much!

Try going to Starbucks and connect thru their WiFi and see if you experience same issue. If not, it may be your wireless router not compatible to wireless-N built in the macbook pro. It could be your router cycling on and off its connection without even noticing it.  Do you have any other wifi at home that doesn't experience this issue?
You need to do process of elimination. Keep us posted. Thanks!

  • My early '06 iMac won't boot, just clicks with question mark on screen. SMC reset, Pram reset can bring it up, works OK for a day or two, then back to no boot. disk utility finds no problem with disk

anytime I get it to boot, it works for a day or two then goes back to the Question mark screen.

Hi! It could be HD issue. You should back up your data in the computer first when you can boot to normal desktop. boot to install disk to run disk utility - if it got error over there, you should bring the computer to repair centre to fix it. You also could try to erase with zero out and install again And see will that be fix the issue!

  • I am trying to get my computer to print on HP C310.  It was working fine until 2 days ago and then stopped printing. I thought I could uninstall the HP software and download it again comes to find that I cannot now use the disk supplied with the printer.

I am trying to get my computer to print on HPC310.  It was working until 2 days ago and then stopped working.  I uninstalled the HP software thinking I could just reinstall and it would help but I cannot now install that software from the disk.  How do I go about getting the old software I had on the computer and how do I get my computer to print.  It gives my messages that it cannot find the printer or printer unknown.

Your operating system, Snow Leopard (OS X 10.6), does not support AppleTalk. Instead, in Snow Leopard the HP 4000 series printers need to be set up to communicate via IP.
Go to System Preferences and open the Print & Fax item. Is your printer listed in that pane?

  • Exchange Admin Center 2013 SP1 worked for a day and then stopped working, possible OAB problems

Here is a problem that has me confused. On a fresh Windows Server 2012 R2, I installed Exchange 2013 SP1. It was successful and for the first day everything was working well. I then installed all security updates. The next day, I could no longer log in to
the Outlook Web App or Exchange Admin Center. I get the generic "something went wrong" message, and the only details are X-FEServer: LAKEVIEW-SERVER (our server name). Nothing else. In the event viewer, I have the logs below every time I try to log

My first guess is to reset the Outlook Address Book by using the Remove-OabVirtualDirectory Exchange commandlet. But I am not so sure this will work because Exchange worked for a day. Any help understanding what caused the problem (and thus help avoid it
happening again) and how to fix it are appreciated. Thanks.

    hi,
If nothing works try resetting the Virtual Directories.
    For  owa
Open Exchange Management Shell (EMS), and then run the following cmdlet to change the authentication method of the "owa" virtual directory to Windows authentication:
set-Owavirtualdirectory -identity "MBX\owa (Exchange Back End)" -WindowsAuthentication $True -Basicauthentication $false
    -Formsauthentication $false
Run the following command on both the Client Access and Mailbox servers to restart Internet Information Services (IIS):
    iisreset /noforce
    For  ECP
    Start Windows PowerShell.
Type the following commands, and then press Enter after each line:
    Add-PSSnapin *exchange*
Set-EcpVirtualDirectory -Identity "MBX\ecp (Exchange Back End)" -WindowsAuthentication $true -FormsAuthentication $false
Run the following command on both the Client Access and Mailbox servers to restart Internet Information Services (IIS):
    iisreset /noforce
    For Ref: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb123752(v=exchg.150).aspx
I did those commands. But remember, the original error I gave was related to the OAB virtual directory, not ECP or OWA. I also did the Remove-EcpVirtualDirectory, Remove-OabVirtualDirectory, and Remove-OwaVirtualDirectory commandlets and the corresponding
EcpVirtualDirectoryOabOwaVirtualDirecoty ones. I still cannot log in to the Exchange Admin Center. And I still have the same original generic unhelpful error message.
However, there are some changes. After I removed and re-added the virtual directories I no longer received the original error logs given above. I now get this log in the event viewer:
Event 2001, MSExchange Front End HTTP Proxy
[Owa] Failed to load SSL certificate.
The first logs I gave above always appeared after attempting to log in. This log that I gave appears infrequently and is not connected to any log in events. This log occurs only
after a similar log given below:
Event 1001, MSExchange Front End HTTP Proxy
    [Owa] Application Starting.

Thanks for the swift reply, I have been looking online and a loose plug seems to be somewhat of an issue with many, I hope mine is actually a problem and not what others are experiencing. It's taken me this long to even reach out for the simple fact I HATE being a complainer but this is just horrible.
Do you have an iPad 3 as well? And is yours not experiencing any issues close to mine?
    Thanks again!

  • Multicast works for a day and then stops

I'm running multicast in unicast mode on our WLC because I can't enable PIM on wired side yet for a couple reasons.  It works consistently on 3 out of 6 WLAN's.  And the weird thing is the other 3 WLAN's will work for a day, and when I come in the next day, multicast traffic has stopped flowing.  I have verified this through IGMP snooping, using a bonjour browser, testing airplay, and using packet capture on a wireless NIC.  2 of the WLAN's are configured almost identically, but one works consistently day after day, and the other only works for a day after resetting the wlan.  I have been coming in the morning and changing a single setting back and forth just to reset the WLAN so it will work for the rest of the day.  I'm just writing this to see if someone can think of why it would work fine for the shole day and then stop working by the next morning.  It's not an IGMP timeout setting, because it works for much longer than the timeout and behaves the same way even without IGMP snooping on.  It started doing this after upgrading to 7.0.240.0.  We have very little amount of multicast traffic on wireless, and low channel utilization.  It does the same exact thing whether 802.11a or 802.11g so I don't think it has to do with data rates.  When I have IGMP snooping on, and on the WLAN's where it's not working, the controller will see the multicast group join message from the client, but the client doesn't see the IGMP query from the controller.  It shouldn't be wired config related since it's unicast mode.  I've tried with and without broadcasting enabled.  Any ideas?

Okay, so I discovered two things, but I still don't know what caused this problem.  When I was running 7.0.230.0 I had increased my EAP-Broadcast key interval to 86400 due to a bug.  This seems to be related to the fact that on the wlan's where multicast was not working, it stopped by the next day.  When I backed this interval down to 3600 the multicast stopped working after an hour instead of a day.  So that's why I believe it was somewhat related to the broadcast key, since that key is used for multicast.
What I realized is that multicast was working on all the wlan's on all AP's that had been rebooted since the controller upgrade (They had been rebooted due to a switch losing power).  This is weird because all the AP's were rebooted when they received their own 7.0.240.0 software upgrade, so I don't know why they would have needed to be rebooted again.  Anyway, I rebooted a few more AP's and multicast works properly on all wlan's on those.  I'm just replying to my own thread here in case someone has a similar problem after upgrading your controller - try rebooting all your access points again.  Or maybe reboot after changing EAP-Broadcast Key interval.

  • I have bought the wireless keyboard for my iPad.  I was working for a day but now the power light won't stay on and as such won't connect to the iPad.  I have changed the batteries but still no difference.

I have bought the wireless keyboard for my iPad.  I was working for a day but now the power light won't stay on and as such won't connect to the iPad.  I have changed the batteries but still no difference.

Not knowing which wireless keyboard you bought, it is difficult to be specific.  but ...
it is quite normal for the keyboard's power light not to stay on - it is a way of conserving battery power.
    Try this:
    turn you keyboard off
on your iPad go to Settings > Bluetooth
if your keyboard is listed under Devices, then touch the little blue i to its right and choose Forget this Device
now reset your iPad:  hold both the Home and Power buttons down for about 10 seconds until the Apple logo appears, let go promptly when the Apple logo appears and wait another 30 seconds for your iPad to turn itself on
After your iPad is back on again go back to Settings > Bluetooth
now turn your keyboard back on and see if it appeard under Now Discoverable
if it doesn't read your keyboard guide to figure out how to put it into Discovery mode
touch the listing for your keyboard under Now Discoverable, it should now appear under Devices
touch the listing for you keyboard under Devices, and choose to pair with it.
