Exchange and iCloud meeting request issue

It Appears that when I receive a meeting invite through my work exchange account, it is depositing in my icloud and not my exchange acount.  THis is a problem as I do not have icloud on my work PC.  I have my icloud account the same as my work email account.  I was an option for use icloud for incoming invatations from other icloud members, but why would this overide Exchange?  Is that what is happeneing?  Any ideas

Hi there
I have just had a user flooded with the responses. Upon checking my logs, I traced this to Iphone 5C running IOS 7.
In my case this behaviour is experienced on Exchange 2010.

Are you using Outlook 2003? The option “new meeting request with” is only available when it is a public folder or shared calendar in OL2003.

  • IOS7 and outlook meeting requests not showing up

I am using Outlook 2007 on a PC (Windows 7).  Just updated my iPhone 5 to the new iOS 7 Operating System.  All seemed well until I sent a meeting request through my outlook on the desktop to a fellow iPhone user.  The email with the mime-attachment.ics came through to her email just fine.  However, you can't open it and it's not showing up in the calendar inbox or calendar.   I tried sending one to myself, same results.
It worked just fine before the update.  Any suggestions?  I currently do not use an online calendar or iCloud...just the outlook program on my desktop.  iCloud presented a problem between my husband's exchange server and invites that I sent him so I kept it turned off.
    Thank you,
    LC

I really wish your solution worked for me.  Unfortunately, even turning on the S/Mime switch, I'm still not able to view the calendar appointment.  Nothing has changed for me, but I'm glad it's working for you.
BozyGoBlue, your solution worked for me.  However, it's crazy to have to jump through the extra hoop to get an appointment on my calendar.  I did try forwarding the email appointment message to myself, and that worked too.  Since your solution worked for both of us, I'd be interested in knowing if I am gbot's solution worked for you.
Still looking for a  fix.  If anyone comes across anything, I'd appreciate you coming back here and posting.  I'll do the same.

  • Exchange and iCloud Contacts Problem

I just recently updated my iPhone to iOS5 and I'm having some difficulty with the exchange and the iCloud servers because they are clashing.  When I go to my contacts, most all of them are doubled and when I recieve calls etc it shows up and "Mom & Dad or Mom & Dad."  I was wondering if I go into my settings and click the Exchange contacts off will it fix the problem?  I just got worried when I saw the "are you sure you want to delete the ones on the phone" warning that came up.  Is there a way to merge iCloud and Exchange so that this will not be a problem?

My experience, while not directly related to iPad and iPhone, is that the problem starts when you have different types of calenders on your device.....'work', 'desktop', etc...
If the preferances are not set correctly at the time of the first synch and you have both work and desktop checked, both will create the same contact, thus, resulting in duplicates. This also holds true with calendars.
I do not know how to fix this problem alone, have needed CS to help walk me through it.

  • IPad2 and iPhone4 upgrade to iOS 5.0.1 and iCloud-- duplicate app issues

I upgraded my MacBook Pro to lion a while back (have had lots of problems ever since, but that's another story).  Recently synced and upgraded my iPad 2 and iPhone 4 to iOS 5.0.1 and iCloud.  This has resulted in some of my apps on both devices seeming to have duplicates.  How can I determine if these are true duplicates and which can be eliminated?   How do I get rid of apps I don't want?

The easiest way is in iTunes.
In your iTunes Library, clickApps on the left hand side. That'll give you the full list, so the first thing you can see is whether you have duplicates in iTunes. I suggest you show the Version and release Date columns (right click a column header and choose them from the list) so you can see whether you have multiple versions.
If you have 2 the same, one might be for iPad and one for iPhone - not all apps are Universal.
Once you're happy that list is straight, connect the devices to iTunes, go to the Apps tab for each device, and uncheck the ones you don't want on that device
    Hope that helps

  • Merge Exchange and iCloud contacts?

I have two separate contacts in my Outlook 2013 - iCloud and Exchange. Is there a way to combine them into one, and have them both sync?
Also, I have noticed that when I start to type someone's name in the "To:" field when writing an email, their Exchange contact info comes up but the info I have stored in iCloud does not. Can I fix this?

To merge Exchange contacts to icloud, see:

  • Where does a new contact get stored when Exchange and iCloud are configured?

I have Contact (and mail and calendar) configured for iCloud and Exchange. When I add a new contact, how do I determin where it is stored?
When I click Add (via the + or Command N) I get
Which account will hold the new contact?
    Thank you

You should be able to switch between three different views at the bottom of Contacts (three buttons next to each other below your contacts list) - the leftmost button should show all your accounts and groups next to your list of contacts and you can then simply drag & drop contacts into an account or group :-)

  • Yosemite and iCloud Drive Performance Issue

While on my home network that is connected to the Internet over FiOS 50 G bps, I upgraded my Mac Book Pro Retina from Mavericks to Yosemite.  The upgrade went smoothly.
I first noticed that when I boot my Mac Book, it boots slower like Windows...
When I took it into my office and used a slow WiFi hot spot, the system crawled.  Safari, Google, and other apps barely responded.
During the upgrade, I "blindly" selected to use the iCloud Drive.   Foolish me!   I tried to turn it off, but then it warned me it would delete all documents on my Mac that are also stored on the iCloud.
How do I turn iCloud drive completely off when I don't want to use it and KEEP all my local files???    Later, I'd like to turn it back on when I'm on my faster network and THEN sync everything.
Also, I started turning off specific Apps and rebooted.  Performance has improved.
    Regards,
    Nick

But Is there an option to retain copies of the files that have been stored on iCloud?   I don't want to delete them.   Later, when I connect back to iCloud drive, if I have made any changes on any of these files on my Mac and they are newer than the version up on iCloud drive, it will automatically "sync up".....
    Thanks again,
    Nick

  • Symbian S^3/Anna Calendar Meeting Request (Invitee...

First... I want to explain how this came about. I've never sent out a Meeting Invite from my Nokia N8 (PR1.2) to anyone before. However, in the days of collaboration, people send & receive Calendar Appointments to and from different Email/PIM Clients.
Since Symbian Anna announced that it will have "e-mail invitations with full meeting request support"... I ran a test with a buddy of mine that had Symbian Anna.
This is also because iPhone users can 'send invitations' during Calendar Event creation and this meeting request magically appears in my Google Calendar.
Why are't Nokia generated meeting requests appearing in e-mail and Google Calendar???
    Observations:
    a) When I send out a Meeting Request (via E-mail or SMS), my Nokia N8 PR 1.2 (Pre-Anna) - sends the attachment as Calendar.vcs, which has a totally different format from the meeting.ics that is read by e-mail clients. Is the meeting.ics a change in Symbian Anna? I am assuming that Calendar.vcs is an internal Nokia to Nokia format. This does not work in this day and age of people using many different brands of OS's.
**Side Note: I am in Canada. When is my Anna Update for my Vanilla Nokia USA N8 going to be available???
    b) When I receive this Calendar.vcs as an attachment in e-mail, it is not translated as a Calendar Invitation item at all in my Gmail or my PC E-mail Client. Why?
Calendar.vcs is sent out as "Application/Octet-Stream" in Base64 Encoding by the Symbian Email Client or the Nokia Email Servers??? Why???
What does Application/Octet-Stream tell the receiving email client? This is an application attachment. Treat it as such.
    c) When I asked my friend who has a Nokia N8 (PR 2.0) Symbian Anna to send me a meeting request, I get an email that has an attachment "meeting.ics" -- let's call this Specimen A -- when it arrived in my Google Inbox, it is not seen nor translated as a Calendar Item.
By this time, I got confused...
So I sent an Appointment/Calendar Request from my Novell Groupwise and sent it to my Google. I also receive a "meeting.ics" -- let's call this Specimen B. However, Google was able to immediately translate that this meeting.ics is a Calendar Item and neatly displays it as such, asking me to say YES, NO, MAYBE to the Calendar item. It even magically inserts into my Google Calendar.
So I was even MORE confused!!!
Here is what I have gathered from reading the Message Sources.
    Nokia meeting.ics (Specimen A)
    - attachment meeting.ics is sent out as MIME TYPE Application/MSPowerpoint (this tells the receiving client that this is a powerpoint application and is not translated as a Calendar Item)
    - attachment meeting.ics is sent out encoded in Base64
    - meeting.ics files is missing PARTSTAT=NEEDS-ACTION in each Attendee (tells the PIM Calendar that this Calendar Request needs to be acted upon with an Accept/Deny)
    Novell Groupwise meeting.ics (Specimen B)
    - attachment meeting.ics is sent out as MIME TYPE Text/Calendar
    - attachment meeting.ics is encoded in 8-Bit
    - meeting.ics file has PARTSTAT=NEEDS-ACTION for Attendees.
So what is the difference? Why is the meeting.ics (Specimen B) from Groupwise readable by Google Mail/Calendar while meeting.ics (Specimen A) from Nokia Symbian Email Client not readable at all?
So I did a small test.
I edited Specimen A meeting.ics from Nokia Email Client and added to th PARTSTAT=NEEDS-ACTION Attendees.
I sent these in 2 Test Emails to my Google Mail.
Test 1: Original meeting.ics from Nokia Email without PARTSTAT=NEEDS-ACTION
Test 2: Altered meeting.ics from Nokia Email WITH PARTSTAT=NEEDS-ACTION
I send these "meeting.ics" tests via my Groupwise Client as an attachment file.
When I received both in my Google Mail, Google is able to properly render this as a Calendar Item and display it as such, asking me to say YES, NO, MAYBE to both instances of the Test Emails.
So, maybe PARTSTAT=NEEDS-ACTION has nothing to do with this then...
I forwarded the test messages back to myself to see what MIME-TYPE Groupwise sent this as this time.
It sent it as TEXT/PLAIN and encoded in Base64. So now, we know Base64 Encoding & 8Bit Encoding is not the culprit.
So I ponder more. WHY WOULD NOKIA EMAIL CLIENT SEND OUT meeting.ics as APPLICATION/MSPOWERPOINT???? *.ics file extension is not even related to anything Powerpoint.
So if meeting.ics is sent out by the sending email client as text/calendar or text/plain, the receiving email client is able to properly translate this and render this as a Calendar Item (Request).
However, because Nokia Email Client send this out as "Application/MSPowerpoint", the receiving email client will think this is an e-mail attachment for PowerPoint and will not display the Calendar Item properly.
MIME-TYPES. Something so basic, something that would cause a HUGE ERROR.
Is this a BUG? I THINK IT IS...  PLEASE FIX THIS ERROR. PLEASE! PLEASE! PLEASE!
So... THIS IS A FAIL. Nokia!
Collaboration is also part of "Connecting People". If Person X using Outlook, Person B using Crackberry, Person C using iPhone, Person D using Android, Person E using a Nokia Symbian cannot collaborate and send/receive/accept/deny Calendar Items they send each other... isn't there a HUGE DISCONNECT?
I am hoping, actually, I am praying really hard to the many gods and dieties that this will be forwarded immediately to the Nokia Email Client Team to be looked at and an Update Immediately made available.
    Thanks.

    Hi Joe,
    1.      Whether the sender and recipient users are on the same AD site?
    2.      If the user uses OWA to access the Meeting Request message, whether is it still displayed as a normal email instead of a meeting request?
I would like to explain that a meeting request should have MAPI property “PR_MESSAGE_CLASS” which value is IPM.Schedule.Meeting.Request. A normal message will have the MAPI property “PR_MESSAGE_CLASS” which value is IPM.Note.
    The issue may occur:
    1.      Some third-party software such as spam filter software and disclaimer software change the mail format
    2.      Some Add-ins on the Outlook change the mail format
To troubleshoot the possible cause 1, I suggest that you enable Pipeline Tracing:
Using Pipeline Tracing to Diagnose Transport Agent Problems
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb125198(EXCHG.80).aspx
Note: Because Pipeline tracing could place a large amount of strain on a system, I suggest that you disable it after gathering the information.
To troubleshoot the possible cause 2, I suggest that you disable the Add-ins temporarily:
    Disable third-party add-ins of Outlook
    ==================================
    1.      Backup and then remove the following two registry keys:
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\Outlook\Addins
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Office\Outlook\Addins
    2.      Restart the Outlook by using “Outlook /Safe”

  • Trying to send a meeting request in Outlook 2010. Error: "the meeting is not in the calendar folder for this account. responses to this meeting will not be tallied

Trying to send a meeting request in Outlook 2013 Error: "The meeting is not int he calender folder for this account. responses to this meeting will not be Tallied.
Please let me know what should I do?
I have set the account as default what should be my next step?

    Hi,
Please try the following points to narrow down the issue:
    1. Please check whether the default Calendar folder is checked when you created the meeting request and sent it out.
    2. Please check whether there is any shared calendar opened in your Outlook and the meeting request is created on behalf of the shared calendar instead of your own calendar.
    3. Create a new Outlook profile and create a test meeting request to have a try.

  • Cancelled meeting requests are not removed from ICAL.

I am currently receiveing  new and updated meeting requests through "Mail" on my mac. The email body contains a .ics icon that either adds (new appointments) or updates (changes) in my MAC's Ical.
However when I receive a cancelled meeting request ... clicking on the same .ics icon take me to Ical, but doens't remove it from the calendar. Is this a known bug or somthing that I've got set up incorrectly?
Please advise if you have any information on this problem - Thanks

  • Meeting request not showing up in outlook

Outlook 2010 - meeting request received, is not showing up in Outlook inbox.  The new mail icon blinks briefly and the meeting dissapears, it does appear as tentative in the calendar, however does not give an option to accept/decline.
OWA works fine, and the meeting request also shows up fine in BB.
No rules in outlook that affects this either.
Does anyone have any ideas on this?
    Update:
    tried outlook /cleanreminders - didn't help.
Other reminders works, like the meeting & task reminders, just the initial meeting acceptance pop up is missing.
The meeting can be accepted / declined by going into the calendar where the meeting shows up as tentative (as expected).
This behaviour is on multiple machines (home/work) both exhibiting the same behaviour.
    Thanks
    Shah

  • Unable to add invitees to iPhone meeting request

I am unable to add invitees to meeting requests when sent directly from my iPhone.  When I create an appointment the option to 'add invitees' is not displayed and therefore I can't  create and send meeting requests to contacts.
Note that I am using Outlook 2011 (with latest update) and am syncing calendar etc via itunes.   This seems to related to default calendar set up, which seems to select the categories I use in Outlook.  I would greatly appreciate some help with this.

  • Outlook 2010 (Exchange) after iCloud installation hangs

    Hi there,
i have Outlook and use it with a Exchange Connection. I installed the iCloud Software for Windows to Sync with Outlook. But after a while Outlook hang at the start. I tried many things Office repair, icloud Software repair and reinstallation nothing changed. But if i deinstall the iCloud Softwar everthing works well.
Wehen i start Outlook with installed iCloud Software in Safemode it runs, but i get no reminder from iCloud Tasks/Events. And i get a messe to put a SmartCard in!??? After i click on Aboard i can Work with Outlook.
    Can somebody help me!?
    Matthias Berndt

Sorry to drag up an old thread, but I have exactly the same problem. And after countless searching on these forums and the internet this is the closest I have seen to my problem.
    My devices:
Home: PC, Windows 7 64-bit. Outlook 2010 with SP1, all updated with MS service packs and hotfixes.
I converted [some time ago] all my home/personal contacts to iCloud. I'm fine with that.
    iPhone4: syncs contacts with iCloud
    iPad2: syncs contacts with iCloud
iTunes shows that contacts are being syncd with iCloud and NOT itunes.
    Everything is syncing just fine.
    BUT....
I would like to see my iCloud contacts, using Outlook 2010 (connecting to Corporate Exchange Server) using my work laptop.
Just to be clear, I don't want to sync my contacts between Exchange and iCloud, I'm quite happy to keep work contacts in Exchange and personal contacts in iCloud. All I want to do is see iCloud - Contacts in Outlook on my work laptop.
Firstly, I made a backup of the contacts in corporate Outlook, then manually deleted them from within Outlook. I did this to avoid the iCloud applet from attempting to copy/merg contacts from Outlook/Exchange into iCloud - potentially causing duplicates.
I then installed the iCloud Control Panel applet successfully, signed in with my Apple ID. All looks good so far.
I then fired up Outlook 2010 on the laptop....which just sits there displaying the splash screen and doesn't load up the main application window.
    Cancelled the process.
    Uninstalled iCloud applet.
Started Outlook again on the laptop, application works fine.
I have read the Apple article on Exchange and iCloud...and I don't believe I am doing anything different to what the expected functionality should be. i.e. it should be possible to run Outlook connecting to Exchange, and have iCloud connectivity too, yet of course both sync to their respective servers.
    Any advice or help?

  • How do I fix meeting requests/invitations default to ms outlook calendar and do not show up on iCloud calendar?

This is frustrating and seems to be a known issue. Regular calendar items work fine but any meeting invitations sent to and accepted on PC running Outlook 2010 with iCloud add in only show up on default (local) calendar. Must add them manually. Also meeting requests sent from same PC configuration are being hijacked by iCal/iCloud feature and prompt the receiver to accept through iCloud interface rather than a regular Outlook email invite, though those meeting do show up on end user's Outlook calendar. And meeting requests sent to a group gives an STMP error. Is there an update or newer version that fixes any of these issues?  I turned off MobileMe add in but doesn't help. We use iCloud and like it because we need the calendar and contact features to sync between the PC and iPhone and iPad, which works fine.

Outlook will not allow a subscribed calendar to be the default, unless it is an Exchange calendar. You can't change this behaviour unfortunately.
