Exchange Cached mode sync issue.

I had an issue where one of the exchange servers did not initiate, so people had full email items on their webmail, but did not get those on their Outlook. Is there some way to ensure that if the exchange server you are connected to in a domain goes down,
you can get those emails sync without turning off cached mode and turning it back on?

It's not my experience that you need to turn off and on cached mode to recover from a server failure.

  • "OutlookSyncClient has stopped working" when Exchange Cached Mode is On.

    Hi,
I have an iPhone 3G which originally didn't sync with outlook 2003 in Vista. Sync is being perform via USB. I initially tried reinstalling iTunes, Reset sync history, Syncing with new windows user but could not get it to sync without an error. Vista displays an "OutlookSyncClient has stopped working" error when it tries to sync the calendar. Finally figured out that if you untick "Exchange Cached Mode", it will sucessfully sync with Outlook. However, this is not a workable solution as the computer is a notebook and needs to be able to access their Outlook email while away from the office (and hence needs to be working in Exchange Cached Mode).
After this, I tried rebuilding the Outlook OST file. I also tried deleting the exchange connection and re-adding the exchange connection to the user profile from scratch. I was not able to get it to sync without the error.
Does anyone know of a solution to this problem? or anything else to try? The only workaround at this point is to disable cached mode while in the office, sync the phone and then re-enable cached mode after the sync is complete. This is proving to be quite a pain, surely there must be a way to solve this problem!

Well, your tip helped me to not get this error only by acessing the "Info"-Tab as happened before, thank you!
I was really happy, but then starting the synchronisation itself crashed again with the same error...
So I am still clueless... It must have something to do with outlook being used with Exchange. At home, where I use it locally, synchronisation did work...

  • HTML Email saved as MSG opens as RTF Email when Exchange Cached mode is OFF

    Hello,
    i have the following problem:
In an Exchange 2013 environment each time i open a HTML email and save it to disk as a MSG file (Unicode or non Unicode) i get a MSG file with an RTF Body. This only happens when Exchange Cached mode is turend OFF. I tested this with Outlook 2010 and Outlook
2013 with no 3rd Party Addins installed. Any idea?
    Regards
    Thorsten
    Best Regards/Viele Grüße Thorsten

I've found this information from our internal channel.
In some case, when you need to convert MIME e-mail with HTML body into .MSG file. For that, HTML must be converted into RTF.
Outlook Converter provides basic means of such conversion (which can be suitable in most cases), and lets you use any external converter for high-quality HTML-to-RTF conversion. Although Outlook can display .MSG files which have HTML
body and no RTF body, the problem occurs when you try to forward or reply such e-mail. For this to succeed, the original message must have RTF body as well.
So, please check whether the message you've dragged onto desktop is MIME message. This might be the root, however, it
still doesn't explain why it only occurs in specific circumstances (Exchange online mode only).
Feel free to post back. Thanks.

  • Very slow mailbox download times in Exchange cached mode

    Hi,
I am running exchange 2007 on a 2008 server and have created a new server 2012 R2 x64 Remote Desktop server with Outlook 2013.
I am making use of the use cached mode feature. However it is taking a very long time to download all mail upon first setting up the mailbox in outlook.
seems to take 2min to download 500kb.
I have disabled all firewalls and AV scanners on the TS and Mail server.
networking between the two is excellent and download speeds and upload are very good.
Seems like exchange is slow at giving out the data or something?..... have tried on a local desktop and not the TS but still have the same problem.
    any ideas?

    Hi CHase,
shared mailboxes shouldnt be cached, only user mailboxes should.Reason for this is because it will download all info from shared mailbox and it can take some time. All company info will also be stored locally,so its security concern.
You mention that you turn on cached mode,is this under user mailbox or additional mailbox as shown below?
The one to left should be fine to cache all,but the one to the right only first check mark should be on.We have this configuratuon and senderandfrom registry works well.
If you access OWA,then choose to open another mailbox, then choose the "support center" mailbox,do you see all folders?
By granting full access doesnt give you send as permission, for this you will need to run this command:
Get-Mailbox "[email protected]" | Add-ADPermission -User "[email protected]" -ExtendedRights "Send As"

  • Having problems with Microsoft Exchange ans the Sync Issues, Conflicts folder

Ever since our company started using the Exchange we have been getting double/triple up's of emails.
They seem to go to the inbox ok but then extra copies go to the sync/conflicts folder, which when stored on the exchange, fills up the mailbox, which is a pain.
I'm using Outlook 2007 and everyone else are using Outlook 2010.
I have found the Sync Issues folder on my Outlook and here are 2 examples:
This does not show up in the conflicts folder on the exchange

It's all gobblede gook to me. I had not realized that the Sync issue folder was on my computer but it is and it has nearly 6000 sync issues in it since we started using the exchange back in December.
    Help
    Linda

    Hi,
For your highlight part, This issue occurs if the Outlook client computer is configured to use proxy settings when Windows Internet Explorer is used. However, the IP address of the Exchange 2007 Client Access Server (CAS) server is not in the exclusion list.
To resolve this issue, follow these steps:
1.Start Internet Explorer, click Tools, and then click Internet Options.
2.On the Connections tab, click LAN settings.
3.Click to select the Bypass proxy server for local addresses check box, and then click Advanced.
4.Type the FQDN of the Exchange 2007 CAS server, and then click OK.
    5.Restart Outlook.

  • Exchange Mail Re-Sync Issue

One of our users out in the Far East is having an issue with this ipad where everytime he changes to a new WiFi network the Exchange mailbox reloads and re-syncs? I've seen this happen once on my iPad here in the UK but the issue is happening all the time with the aformentioned user. Has anyone heard of or seen this before?

    Thanks Gyrhead.
I understand there are restrictions on the support of the devices from a policy perspective but i wouldn't imagine that this would cause any issues with the mailbox re-initializing or reloading.
Since my first post the user has wiped his device back to factory defaults and then reconfigured the native e-mail client with his exchange account. For the first couple of days he experienced no issues as he previously reported, but now the issue has started again. His exchange account is currently on Exchange 2003 and he is based in Vietnam.
    Any ideas?
To re-iterate the issue. User has setup an account with the native e-mail client on the ipad connected to his exchange 2003 account. Whenever he changes to a different WiFi network, the inbox clears down (goes blank) then re-synchronizes/reloads the inbox contents!
    Cheers in advance

  • Mail vs. Exchange: sender field / sync issues

I've been using an Exchange account in Mail for Mac for several months without problems, but for the last week or so issues have been showing up. Some e-mails I receive don't correctly show the from field: there's no distinction between the sender name and e-mail address, and when I click reply the address isn't recognized. It shows up like e.g. "John Smith [email protected]", making it impossible for Mail to make out the e-mail address.
This only happens in Mail - when I open the same message on my iPhone or in OWA it appears correctly. When I reply to the message from there, Mail for Mac syncs the reply and the sender field is magically fixed.
What could cause this problem? I haven't done any updates to either my OS or Mail before this problem started.

  • Microsoft Exchange Server Active Sync issue

When I purchased my Droid Incredible I set up my account for my work email.  My job uses Microsoft exchange server so I had no issues getting setup and started.
A week later my email stopped syncing.  I deleted the account and set it up again.  That temporarily fixes the problem.  Another week passes and I have the same problem.  I reset my phone and set up the my email account again.  No issues until one week later when it does it again.
Unless I can find a solution to this problem I think this phone will have to be returned.  Don't get me wrong, this phone is great but email is the reason I purchased this phone.  There are 52 weeks in a year.  I can't see myself resting my email account every week.
    Any help would be appreciated!
    Thx
    TainoE

I had the same problem when I first purchased the phone back in May. I had about 60,000.00 emails from the past 5 years in my main server at work  that I had not deleted. My IT guy told me that I had to delete my old emails and that the INC works from the main server and I had way over the amount that I should have. I work for a very busy RE firm in NYC and we get about 150 emails a day, which ads up fast. Once I dld as he suggested the phone has not had one problem w/ outlook or syncing again. The Iphone works in the exact same way.  BB's operate from their own server so are not as effected by this as much. The  phone  works great with outlook, and actually quicker and better than my BB. Good luck!!

  • Exchange 2010 & Ipad Sync Issues

I have a user that started having problems syncing up his Ipad to his exchange account.  He has an Android that he can sync okay.  He syncs the Ipad okay but the Inbox shows that he has no email.  So far he is the only one in our
environment that has reported any issues.  About 3 weeks ago I upgraded our exchange environment from SP1 to SP3, this weekend I updated SP3 to rollup 5 which did not fix the issue.  Here are some trouble shooting steps I have tried to no avail:
    Deleted partnership from Exchange
    Deleted phone account from OWA
Deleted account from Ipad and readded - will sync gets message "No Mail" in Inbox
I do notice that when he re-synced no partnership showed up in Exchange or OWA
Made sure Inheritable Permissions box is checked in AD
Get-CASmailbox information matches mine, mine works fine.
I can sync okay on my Iphone, I had him use my Iphone to sync his account and he gets the same "No Mail" message.

  • IOS Exchange Account Contact Sync Issues

Issues: (1) Duplicate, Triplicate, Quadruplicate, Quintuplicate Contact Entries (2) Erratic Proliferation (3) New Inputed Contacs Disappear, Reappear and Disappear, never to be registered in the exchange service. (4) Problem started with iOS 5. More Info: iPhone 4, iPhone 4s and iPad1. One Windows 7 desktop and One Windows 7 notebook. Microsoft Office 365 Online service.
For years I have been using Exchange to sync my e-mail, calendar and contacts, across my windows machines and my ios devices. Since some months ago, my contact entries started to profilate erraticaly on my iPhone and iPad, some times duplicating and other times triplicating or quintuplicating all or some of entries. The solution was to UNCHECK and RE-CHECK sync contact information inside the mail settings of the ios device. Number of entries were not affected in Outlook or the Online Web Server. Most recently, contacts inputed in the iOS device, on the road, disappeared, reappeared and disappeared again in the iOS device, never to be registered by the Exchange server, losing vital information.

I noticed that you have all mentioned iPhone 4s, to be the ones with this issue.  A handful of my end users just upgraded to the new iPhone 4s and they are having this issue.  However, one of the users with the issues still uses their iPhone 4 for international and that one works fine.
My iPhone 4 is running iOS 5.1.1, my MBP 17" 2010 model running Lion they both work fine with both Office 365 and Exchange 2010.
This may just be an issue with the iPhone 4s.  Since ActiveSync just synchronizes, then it's skewing up the Contacts folder, hence spreading it to the other devices.
Microsoft is holding Apple responsible, since other devices with EAS work just fine, and Apple reps claim that this will be resolved in the next update; how long must we have to wait?!?!?

  • E71 Exchange 2003 Calender sync issue

    Hi guys,
one of my colleagues has a e71 and want's to sync his mailbox with MFE 3.0.
Everything is getting synchronized, except for the exchange calendar. Unfortunately no entry is getting synchronised from Exchange. The strange thing is, that two other colleagues have excatly the same mobile phone with the same software level.
Does anyone have had the same strange behaviour?
Any kind of information regarding this issue is very much appreciated
    kind regards
    Gottfried

    Hi deep9,
    thanks for your posting.
So this problem is already well known or did i miss something here?
Can you tell me if there is already a fix for this?
    Thank you!

  • Exchange 2007 Active Sync Issue with 1 users mailbox

    Good Afternoon,
Server OS:  Small Business Server 2008
    Exchange:  2007 Standard - Update Rollup 13 SP3
    Mobile phone:  Blackberry Z10
We are in the process of decommissioning our Blackberry Enterprise Server, and down to one user.  I am able to setup Exchange on his new non BES server tied phone, but it will not sync any email, all Meetings, and only some contacts.  I have tried
adding this account to an Android phone with the same results.  I have numerous times went into EMC and delete the Mobile device, when re-adding the account, everything seems to point to his exchange account being the culprit.  I am getting the below
Active Sync error after adding his account.  I have Bing / Googled around, and nothing of substance I have found.  Thank you in advance!

    Hello,
Yes, it means the mailbox is corrupted. The most efficeint way is to rebuild the user's mailbox.

  • Exchange 2010 Active Sync issues

I know I've posted a lot lately, but the issues keep rolling in with this upgrade.   Since upgrading to Exchange 2010, I have 2 users ( that have come forward thus far) saying they are unable to add exchange mail back onto their phones.
When I go into EMC to look at it and right-click on the uses it shows the option to manage mobile device.  Usually when there is no device paired, that option doesnt come up.  When I go into manage mobile device, it shows that there is no device
listed.  If I run Get-ActiveSyncDeviceStatistics -Mailbox:"alias" I get the same result.  It shows no device.  I think this is locking the user out somehow from being able to add exchange back onto their mobile device.
I have also tried removing their email box from the server, then re-attaching it.  I get the same results each time.  They can add exchange to their phones, but when it tries to download mail it gets "Cannot get mail.  Connection to the
server failed."  Even after they were able to add their account into their phone.

Since you had ActiveSync devices on these accounts on the old system, the tools know those devices existed.  However, you can't manage them until you connect through the new system.  Is your Exchange 2010 system the one that handles the inbound
ActiveSync connections?  Downlevel systems can't support any
    mailbox connections to newer systems.

  • Outlook 2013 set cached mode "Mail to keep offline" to All for existing Outlook profiles via GPO or registry changes

We recently migrated from Office 2010 to Office 2013.  An annoying change is Outlook's "Use Cached Exchange Mode" setting that changes the previous setting of all email to partial email based on how old emails are.  This is confusing
for end users because if they have a 1GB mailbox size limit and they look at the properties of their mailbox, it shows the cached amount which is always then less than the full amount.  While they have a 1GB limit, the properties of their mailbox
might say 700MB because that's all that is cached, but meanwhile they can't send because they are actually over 1GB on the server side.
I want to set this cache setting to "All" for EXISTING profiles and new profiles.  I think I can do it with GPO for new profiles, but I don't see a way to set it for existing profiles.  I assume I have to do this with a registry setting.

    Hi,
The cached mode Sync Slider setting is maintained in the Outlook profile settings in the Windows registry. If you want to administer this setting via group policy, you can use the group policy templates, which are available from the Microsoft Web site. The
group policy template files are Outlk15.admx and Outlk15.adml. If you use group policy to manage this setting, the following registry data is utilized by Outlook.
    Key: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Office\15.0\Outlook\Cached Mode
    DWORD: SyncWindowSetting
Value: integer value (Decimal) specifying the number of months (use only the following values)
    0 = All (entire mailbox)
1 = One month of mailbox items
3 = three months of email items
6 = six months of email items
12 = twelve months of email items
    24 = twenty-four months of email items

Hope this will be helpful for you.

  • Exchange 2010 all mail clients with internal cached and internal non-cached mode users having connection status issues, login prompt -- external is fine either way

    Hello,
I'm seeing an issue that started this past Monday with no recent change to our environment.
External Outlook Anywhere users and Mobile users, OWA users are unaffected.
Internal Users are affected when using Outlook of any version, 2010 or 2013.
-Internal Users normally log into their workstation with their ad credentials, domain joined machines. Outlook opens without credentials prompting ideally.
    1 . Using Cached Mode:
    a. Login Prompts, slowness - Since Monday, users are getting prompted to login. The prompt goes away after logging in at startup. It is also causing high CPU
    on the workstations.
    b. Free/Busy, Out of Office doesn't work. I can, however complete auto-setup for a new user, so autodiscover is not completely down for internal users.
    c. Checking Connection Status shows connecting status on highlighted entry below without ever establishing connection (just goes away).
The outlook icon in the system tray says "Outlook is requesting data from the server":
    2. Using Non-cached mode
    a. No Login Prompt at startup, business as usual
    b. Free/Busy, Out of Office works fine. Autodiscover is fine.
    c. Checking Connection Status shows normal except, it has "casarray URL, then status is referral" it seams to flicker this constantly then go away intermittently.
    d. Main issue in non-cached mode is, sometimes a user will log into windows, open outlook and it will not open and says "server is unavailable. Retry, work offline, or cancel" I can try re-opening, same message.
Only after logging out of windows, logging back in, I can get back into outlook. This is not every time, or consistent with specific users, but random.
    3. Lync Pop up  for credentials often, though entering the password.
URLs are correct. Autodiscover, EWS, etc.
Already tried bypassing our loadmaster load balancer with host files on clients. same issue regardless of casarray node.
Not sure what is going on.
    Josh

You have a hybrid configuration with Office 365, right?  You didn't provide this valuable piece of information.
In Exchange Online PowerShell run this command:
    Get-OrganizationConfig | FL PublicFoldersEnabled
If the value is "Remote" then users with Exchange Online mailboxes are looking to on-premises public folders.  Be sure that you have legacy pubic folder interoperability properly configured.
