Exchange Calendar / Contacts Sync When Set to Fetch

OK - so like many of you I am turning off "Push" for my Exchange account to save battery life. I won't die if I get emails every 15 minutes...but I have one concern. If I am on Fetch set to every 15 minutes, will Exchange still go out and sync my Calendar and Contacts during those 15-minute increment check-ins? So far I can't really tell. When I go into Calendar it always goes out and checks the server anyway (manually) and updates it then, so it is hard to see if this is working.
Can anyone with Exchange set on Fetch verify this? Thanks!

Did you get any feedback about your question? If this works, I would like to attempt something similar for one of our users.
Thanks

  • Exchange Calendar & Contacts won't sync w/ ios 4.1

Since I upgraded my iphone 4 to ios 4.1, the calendar and contacts for my Exchange account won't sync. Email works fine. I've tried un-syncing and re-syncing, deleting and re-adding the account.
When I open the calendar or contacts, the progress wheel spins for an eternity with no results. My battery went from 100% to turning off within an 8 hour period with limited use, which I attribute to the attempted syncing.

I went to the Genius bar where they updated the firmware and installed a module to increase the timeout delay for syncs.
I now have a very few calendar appts synced.
The big thing (take note Apple!!) is that the few Contacts that are synced on the phone are actually the Suggested Contacts, which is a new feature in Outlook 2010.

  • In attempting to sync my Outlook Contacts to my iphone 5, Outlook shows in the drop down, but it does not allow click-on, then below is listed only my email information, nothing else, no calendars, contacts.  When I click on the email, it adds new acct

In attempting to sync my Outlook Contacts to my new iphone 5,in iTunes,  Outlook shows in the drop-down box, but it does not allow click-on.  Individual items are not listed to click on. The only listing is my email address and when you sync it, it really does not sync, it adds another email account with the same name, and no contacts sync with it.

also - when I use camera wizard it just tells me the phone is busy or in use  and I should retry.
If I use it through windoes explorer - it shows me the camera to computer symbols and a line moving between then but bombs out saying camera is busy.

  • Exchange Calendar iPhone Sync

We have been experiencing an on going issue with a user who's Exchange Calendar will not fully sync on his iPhone. The calendar events update correctly in both Outlook and on his iPad but not the phone. Both the iPad and iPhone are running the latest version of iOS. In the past we resolved the issue by recreating the sync partnership with the device on the server itslelf and also by removing and adding the calendar back to the phone. Both fix the issue for 3 - 4 weeks on average before it happens again.
The Exchange server itself is running the latest rollups. We have other users with similar set ups but the issue has only been reported by one user. Are there any iPhone settings I may be missing that we could try? This user relies heavily on his meeting information to be accurate to work and it has created several issues for him.
    Thank you,
    Chris

I've run into this a lot lately.  Being sure to check both the default calendar in Settings - Mail, Contacts, & Calendars and the Calendars tab in the Calendar App after resyncing the Exchange account; the issue seems to repeat itself a few days or a week later.  It's not happening with all of our end users, but enough for me to think it has something to do with iOS 8.1.2 (or at least 8.1.2. on the 5S).  Clicking on the Calendar app, Calendars, and Hide all Calendars, and then Show All Calendars and done, seems to fix (essentially toggling Hide All Calendars off/on).  I've been using this for two weeks, and so far so good.  I will update if the issue rears its' ugly head again.

  • Yahoo Contact Sync when 2 accounts added?

So I just recently added my second yahoo mail account to my iPhone (yeah I have my reasons for two) but when I went to sync it, it said there was an error in yahoo address sync and to try again later.
Could this be because I have two yahoo accounts?
My second account dose not have any addresses on it.
    Thanks for any help.

After spending some time with Chat support, I have found that in order to re-establish a sync with Yahoo! contacts (should it have failed),
    1. delete your Yahoo! account (all aspects, messaging, email, calendar, contacts)
    2. restart the phone.
    3. Open Accounts app
    4. Add "Email Account" (do not choose Yahoo!)
    5. Choose items that you wish to sync as usual.
For some reason, the Yahoo! setting is giving errors with the contact sync.
    Hope this helps

  • Difference between Exchange and IMAP tabs when setting up a mail account

I understand that for iPhone to communicate with Exchange, IMAP access is required:
"Exchange email accounts must be configured for IMAP to work with iPhone" (from the iPhone user guide)
My questions is, what (exactly) is the difference between the IMAP and Exchange tabs when setting up a mail account on the iPhone? I have it working with secure IMAP inbound (port 993) and SMTP outbound (port 25) on my Exchange Server 2003 server; however I would like to know the difference between plain "IMAP" and "Exchange" in the iPhone configuration.
Searching the forums has revealed lots of people asking how to set up IMAP on Exchnage (Microsoft documentation would seem a good place to start), but I don't seem to be able to answer this question.
If anybody knows the answer, I'd be most grateful. One post suggested that there is no difference; however I can't imagine Apple cluttering the interface with an option if there is an existing feature that's identical!

Thanks for answering Lawrence. I'm not using Outlook as the computer I sync with is running Mac OS X with Office for Mac 2004, but guess it considers Outlook and Entourage to be the same.
I'm still a little bit confused when you say "takes the settings" as most Outlook clients are not configured for IMAP (MAPI-RPC is the native protocol, although some may use HTTP-RPC) and mine didn't seem to take any settings automatically - I had to set it up manually on the iPhone.
    Cheers, Mark

  • Mail for Exchange does not work when set to manual...

I set up mail for exchange and it works beautifully when set to always on, however many times I want it on manual so I can only check at specific times when I'm away from a pc, but it doesn't seem to work.
When I click synchronise, it appears as if it syncs and disconnects, but it doesn't update anything. If I try the same when I'm looking at the mail for exchange settings, then it tries to connect and says error connecting, try again later.
So i switched to always on, it worked, back to manual, and it seems that the first attempt was successful, but I know it'll stop working later.
Any idea what the problem is with manual checking?

  • ICloud calendar/contacts sync on PC via Outlook 2010 - clumsy or me?

I recently added iCloud to sync calendar, contacts and tasks from Outlook 2010 on my PC to my iPhone 4s.
Generally it works well. If I add a contact on the iPhone, the PC Outlook syncs it fairly quickly via the cloud and works in reverse as well. Exactly what I was hoping for.
After a week or so, I noticed a few irregularities which I am confused about. Not in syncing the data but what it did to my PC Outlook 2010 calendar.
In installing the iCloud sync, I saw that iCloud copied my calendar items to another calendar named iCloud calendar and deleted all of the calendar items from the "default" Outlook calendar. But they are not really deleted from the "default" calendar. I guess I was not expecting this level of intrusion by iCloud. Not a huge issue but I am still getting some alerts from the iCloud calendar and the "normal" Outlook calendar which is apparently duplicating the alerts. This is issue 1. In Outlook 2010 you can check which calendar you want to see and not include some calendars if you prefer.  I have defaulted to ony checking the iCloud calendar and not the default Outlook calendar.
The other issue is since the iCloud calendar sort of replaced the "default" calendar in Outlook 2010, the Outlook menu structure defaults to the Outlook default calendar and contacts (which is now empty) and so I have to constantly change "which contact store or calendar store to look into" in Outlook to do many functions such as find people in contacts, email addressing (using the Outlook "recent people you have emailed cache") which is a bit of a pain and seems to be necessary far to often.
So, I am asking the community; do I need to make some other setting options (IPhone 4s or Outlook 2010 on the PC) to return to a more automatic selection of the iCloud contact and calendar store so that I don't have to constantly keep changing the "look into" option?
Maybe to confuse this even further, I have a new iPad 2 which I would like to keep the calendar and contacts synched via iCloud.
I hope I have articulated this well enough as the issue seems to be a bit complicated to describe.
    Thx DD

I had the EXACT same problem and heard about CodeTwo Sync for iCloud. I downloaded and installed the 30-day trial version. So far I love it! After 30 days it reverts to only syncing the Calendar for free. Its $10 to buy the license key to keep it syncing Calendar and Contacts and Tasks. I'm NOT syncing Tasks with it because I've been using Toodledo and it works well with Categories (Contexts in Toodledo) for doing the GTD system, although I'm looking into other ways I may be use iCloud for my Outlook Tasks WHILE MAINTAING CATEGORIES.
I'm probably going to buy the CodeTwo Sync for iCloud within the 30 day trial. It does exactly what you want it to do: syncs the iCloud account folder with your default Outlook modules/folders - AUTOMATICALLY - without having to do anything (clicking, etc.). THAT's what I'M talkin' about!

  • Outlook Exchange and Contact Sync, QUESTION!

We've just added iPad 2's to our sales force.  Prior we were just PC and Blackberry.  Now the team is using their own smartphones (some still have their Blackberry), an iPad and no longer have their company PC's.
In the past, if we entered contact information into outlook or the Blackberry, they of course automatically sync.  When activating company email on the iPad, all existing contacts synced to the iPad.
However, now upon entering a contact into the iPad, it no longer will Sync to the Blackberry..... BUT when you enter a contact into the Blackberry, it does transfer to the iPad.
    Whats happening here? LOL

As others have said in your other posts, no one here knows or can say what Apple is working on.

  • Calendar / Contacts Sync Issue on a home computer with a BES-enabled BB

I'm a long-time BB user (back to the days of the old 950 sans phone!).
I finally upgraded my old 7100 to the Storm.  My company operates a BES; I'm just a user.
When I first got the 7100, I declined to be on the BES and simply synched my calendar and contacts via a cable; I did the same thing with my calendar and contacts on my home desktop and laptop.  That way I always had all four devices with the same relative info.
When I finally moved to the BES, all of the work synching was done wirelessly.  That certainly added some features that I didn't have before.  However, it also created an apparent problem - the only way I could then synch my Blackberry with my two home computers was to turn the wireless synching off, update the home computers (one way from the BB to the computer), and then turn the synching back on.  Needless to say, this was quite inconvenient and any change that I may have made directly on my home contacts or calendars never made it to the BB during these syncs.  If I tried syncing the data both ways, the BB would warn me that any changes that I may have made to the BB calendar / contacts would be lost when I turned wireless syncing back on.  I eventually stopped trying.
So, with all of that, is there a way to actually sync a BES BB with my home computers without (1) turning off the wireless sync with the BES, and/or without (2) losing any data that may have been transferred to the BB from my home computer?
Perhaps I'm just not using the BB desktop software on my home computers correctly.  It's somewhat confusing because when I first installed it, I didn't know if I should select the option for syncing with a work account of a personal account (BES v. BIS essentially?) since the device is definitely BES but my home computer is not.
If that doesn't make sense, let me know and I'll try to clarify the question.

  • How can I get my outlook exchange calendar to sync with icloud

Hello, I am trying to sync my outlook exchange calendar to icloud with my wife's calendar in ical from her Mac.  Thus far I have been unable to get my Outlook calendar in icloud.  Also having trouble getting my wifes ical from the Mac onto her iphone?  I'm pretty computer savvy but this one is stumping me.  I am trying to do it with out a third party calendar app, but I am open to suggestions so long as my exchange calendar for work will sync seamlessly.
    Many thanks.

You can go into the settings, iCloud and enable calendar syncing on both devices.

  • HT204150 How can I change calendar/contacts sync setting for iPhone?

contact not backing up on my imac address book

On the device, go to Settings>icloud.  Be sure icloud is on and using the right ID.  If not, scroll to the bottom of the page and tap Delete Account - this just disconnects the device from that account, no data is lost.  Then log back in using the correct ID.  ALSO - be sure the Contacts are turned on (on the same screen).

  • Multiple Exchange calendars not syncing correctly

    Hi,
I'm having a strange issue with syncing calendars from my iPad and iPhone to our Exchange server.  I have three calendars in Exchange, which I'll call Calendar1, Calendar2 and Calendar3. Calendar1 was my original calendar, and I added the other two later.
I have my Exchange account set up on my iPad and iPhone. Calendar1 syncs correctly in all directions. If I create an appointment in Outlook in Calendar2 or Calendar3, the appointment appears on my iPhone and iPad, as it should. The problem is that if I create an appointment on the iPad or iPhone in Calendar2 or Calendar3, the appointment never appears in Outlook or on the other device.
I did a test with someone else whose company has Exchange Server 2010, and Outlook 2010, and everything worked correctly with all calendars.
    Here's what I'm using:
iPhone 4, updated to iOS 5
    iPad, still at iOS 4
    Exchange Server 2003
    Outlook 2007
    Any thoughts? Thanks!
