Exchange connections seem to get hung

For work I have to connect to two Exchange servers and then I have other accounts for personal mail. It seems that when I first open Mail.app, things seem to work pretty OK, but if I move to a new location Mail.app sits at "downloading" or "checking for new mail" forever with no updates. It almost feels as though the the connection doesn't get handed off properly from one network to the next and I wind up with a hung thread/process. Anyone else seeing this or anything like it? I also seem to experience significant heat and short battery life.
Any help would be appreciated.

Does it help if you change the download location?
Firefox may be trying to copy the file from the temp or cache folder to the finale destination folder and mat also try to copy/set the permissions of the file.
It is also possible that anti-virus software is corrupting downloaded files or is otherwise interfering with downloading files.<br />
Try to disable the real-time (live) scanning of files in your anti-virus software temporarily to see if that makes downloading work.

  • Whenever I try to sync my ipod touch, it doesn't work.  The computer seems to get hung.  What could be happening?

Whenever I try to sync my ipod touch, it doesn't work.  The computer seems to get hung during the back up stage.  It says it is backing up the ipod but nothing happens, for hours.  I eventually have to interrupt it and give up.

    I have the latest itunes.
    I tried resetting sync history.
    For this section:
If the issue persists, and you know all your contacts, calendars, bookmarks and notes are on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch:
Remove all of the contact and calendar information from Outlook.
Select the device in iTunes and click the Info tab.
Scroll down to the Advanced section, and under "Replace information on this iPhone/iPad/iPod touch" make sure Contacts and Calendars are not selected.
    Click Apply.
This doesn't seem to make sense for my situation.  I don't sync anything between outlook and my ipod touch.
I have no other USB devices connected to my computer.
I have no other Windows users on my computer - only me and I am the administrator.  However on my diagnostic, it said this user is not the administrator.  Weird.
So I have tried to follow that you referred me to, but still I haven't got it working yet.  Do you have any further suggestions?

  • HTTP connections seem to get Interrupted

The problem manifests in 2 ways and just a second ago i thought that they might be of similar origin. When I download a File i get this
"~\somefile.part could not be saved, because the source file could not be read.
Try again later, or contact the server administrator." error message. I looked all the troubleshooting material related to this problem up but nothing seems to fix it. Furthermore when I download the same file with another browser or a file manager it works like a charm.
The second way the problem manifests is when I watch a video from YouTube or another hosting service the videos tend to stop mid video 8 out of 10 Times and can only be restarted when I reload the page or change the video quality. I already tried reinstalling Firefox creating a new profile etc but nothing works. So I think probably the problem actually lies with my Internet connection and not with FF, but the other browsers (I tested IE) and download Manger (In this case Jdownloader) are more tolerant with it. So how can I make Firefox more tolerant to the problem as well?
    thx in advance

  • Safari gets "hung up"

Hello. I am running Safari Version 2.0.4 (419.3) on an intel iMac ( OSX 10.4.10).
When loading webpages Safari seems to get "hung up" right before finishing loading the webpage. The bottom of the screen will show something like "41 of 42 items completed" It always seems to just hang there waiting for the last item to load. This also causes some webpages to just sit there and you have to reload them to get Safari moving along.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

I'm having the same problem on my Macbook Pro. But I don't think it is limited to Safari. Seems to be everything program to access the internet will hang for 30-45 seconds including Firefox and Widgets. It doesn't happen on my PPC Mac Mini with same version of Safari. Only difference I can think of is that the mini is hardwired to the router and the MacBook is on WIFI. I don't think it is my service or WIFI router, because I am not having problems on my Dell laptop via WIFI. I've tried watching the Console during these seisures, but no messages appear. I'm going to try finding a cord long enough to connect into my MacBook to see if the problems go away. Any other ideas?

  • HT3500 I have a MacBook Pro and an HP ENVY 110 SERIES All-In-One .  I can't seem to get a network set up or either one to locate or connect to the other one.

I've spent hours, actually probably days, trying to do this but it's not working. I've had the ENVY since Nov
and have not been able to print - much less do anything else with it.
My internet is CLEAR wireless. I use the little USB 4G Mobil Modem. This new HP ENVY is also wireless.
I know I can't be online and print at the same time unless I get a router.
I also know that I can go offline and change the network pref  to "airport" so I can print. Meaning I'll have to change
back and forth but for my uses,  that's ok..at least for right now.
What I can't seem to get set-up correctly is my own local network.
I'm pretty sure it's suppose to be done using "Airport".
Obviously, I'm doing something wrong in establishing my network.
The printer is listed on my printer preferences and shown as  "offline"  "default". I assume that means the ENVY
is my default printer.  Great! At least my Pro knows it's suppose to connect to the ENVY once everything's set-up correctly.
Now, if someone could just tell me exactly, step-by-step what to do to get that done....
    I'd be soooo very happy!
    Thank you!
    Ricki

Well... no help was found here.. so I abandoned the wireless- ness of my printer.  I bought a
small 10 port hub because only 2 USB ports really isn't enough with wireless mouse, wireless internet
and any kind of printer.   I also bought a long USB cable.  I now print--wired since this can be done
as an alternative to wireless with this printer.   Because I don't want a cable "hanging around"
when the printer is not in use, I simple disconnect it and reconnect when I want to print.
It's a temporary solution others may find helpful as well. Apparently there's been a lot of
confusion and problems getting this printer set up wirelessly with our MacBooks.
Shame on HP for not helping us out!

  • HT3180 Ok, I got the Apple TV all hooked up. Im pretty handy and have a lot of experience putting electronics together, but this one has got me. I can not seem to get it to connect to my iTunes. Probably something running in the background.

Having problems with Home Sharing with the WiFi. Can not seem to get the Apple TV to connect to my iTunes. Must be something running in the background of the router or laptop. Need help.

Yes to all, however ive noticed when I turn on the itues Home Sharing, and it says it is on in the File pull down, it disapears from the Livrary pull down. I attempt to view my Library on my iPhone or iPad under the Remote app and it states i have no songs or content. Although it will let me mirror my device on the TV screen.

  • My iMac keeps on losing internet connection. Webpages get stuck after a minute or so. If I check the internet connection via diagnostics it seems to work just fine. Others, like the iPad use the same wifi connection and never fail. What can I do?

    Greetings,
I've never seen this issue, and I handle many iPads, of all versions. WiFi issues are generally local to the WiFi router - they are not all of the same quality, range, immunity to interference, etc. You have distance, building construction, and the biggie - interference.
At home, I use Apple routers, and have no issues with any of my WiFi enabled devices, computers, mobile devices, etc - even the lowly PeeCees. I have locations where I have Juniper Networks, as well as Aruba, and a few Netgears - all of them work as they should.
The cheaper routers, Linksys, D-Link, Seimens home units, and many other no name devices have caused issues of various kinds, and even connectivity.
I have no idea what Starbucks uses, but I always have a good connection, and I go there nearly every morning and get some work done, as well as play.
You could try changing channels, 2.4 to 5 Gigs, changing locations of the router. I have had to do all of these at one time or another over the many years that I have been a Network Engineer.
    Good Luck - Cheers,
    M.

  • I'm on mac OS 10.7.4 and when i try to update my FF it gets hung up saying "dowlosing ff...connecting to update server" and gets stuck

When I try to upgrade my FireFox browner i get this pop up window that gets hung up. it says "Downloading Firefox." "connecting to the update server..." and gets stuck there

If there are problems with updating or with the permissions then easiest is to download the full version and trash the currently installed version to do a clean install of the new version.
Download a new copy of the Firefox program and save the disk image (dmg) file to the desktop
    *Firefox 14.0.x: http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/all.html
*Trash the current Firefox application to do a clean (re-)install
*Install the new version that you have downloaded
Your profile data is stored elsewhere in the Firefox Profile Folder, so you won't lose your bookmarks and other personal data if you uninstall and (re)install Firefox.

Have you turned on Bluetooth in iPad's Settings app?

The easiest way would be to use Back to My Mac, but that will only work if the server is a Mac running OS X 10.7 or later and you have the cooperation of the network administrator.

so... if on my wifi network stays at "choose a network" does that mean there is not an open wifi availble?
If there is a list to choose from those are the names of the available wifi networks that are visible to your iPad's wifi. Some of them will be locked, you will need the password to connect to these. Some will be unlocked(open), you will not need a password to connect to these.
If it is your own wifi network then do not leave it open. Set up a name and password in your wifi router. It will show up in your list to choose from. You then provide the password you set in the router when asked for the password.
