Exchange Contacts without Categories???

One of the big features in Outlook / Excahgne is using Categories. I don't see any of my category data coming over into SN AB or iCAL. Any word? I'm guessing this is just not part of the sync conduit, but it would be a good feature to have...

My behaviour is slightly different, but the problem with my missing contacts is also related to File As.
I introduced Apple into my Exchange world when I bought an iPhone. The new phone slipped into my environment without any fuss, everything synchronised with the iPhone and nothing appeared to get broken.
Then my PC had a hard disk failure and my corporate IT guys presented me with a new one. It was when I synchronised Outlook with the Exchange server that I first encountered some strangeness with my contacts.
I am a "last, first (company)" filer and I saw in Business Card view that many (but not all) of my contacts had lost this specific filing. When I open such a contact the File As field is blank.
Interestingly, when I edit the Business Card view (messing with the field order so that I can see the value of the File As field) the File As field is not blank. So, two ways of looking at things, two different results.
These are the contacts that will not sync with Entourage or with an Apple Address Book Exchange account. They will sync with Outlook and they will sync with my iPhone.
I can't figure out an automated way to mend them, so I'm trawling through them manually at lunch break. Hey, I'm already at "E"!
The next step is to try to figure out how to create one of these bad contacts.

  • Removing Exchange account without losing its contacts

    Hello,
I used to sync my iPhone contacts (work & personal) through my corporate Exchange server.
I no longer work for the company no have no more access to the Exchange account.
When I try to remove that Exchange account, it says that all contacts will be deleted!
How can I back up (on my PC and/or in Gmail for instance) and continue using these contacts on my iPhone?
    Thanks for your help.
    Luc

The iPhone's Mail app stores all email recipients in a list of previous recipients. The email address autofill feature pulls from the contacts or address book and from the list of previous recipients. Different from the Mail.app on a Mac, there is no access to the list of previous recipients to add a previous recipient to the Address Book or Contacts, or to remove a previous recipient from the list.
The only way to clear the previous recipients at the present time is by restoring the iPhone with iTunes as a new iPhone or not from the iPhone's backup.
You still have access to the list of previous recipients when addressing a message and I seriously doubt there are many that send email to all Exchange contacts or to all company contacts or addresses.

  • Removing an exchange account without deleting contacts.

I just used the Contact Mover App to sync all my exchange contacts to iCloud. Can I now delete my exchange account on my iPhone and not lose any of the contacts that are now sharing both the iCloud and Exchange Account?
By removing the Exchange account will it just remove the link to the exchange off the contact and the "moved" contact will stay with iCloud.

If your exchange contacts appear on icloud.com you should be able to go to Settings>Mail,Contacts,Calendars...tap your exchange account, then either delete it or turn off contacts syncing and the exchange contacts will be removed from your phone, but not from iCloud.

  • Can i sync mobile me and exchange contacts at same time?

hi, i've a mobileme account, with my contacts synchronized. The question is, if now, i configure on that same iphone, an exchange account (my work email), and i also sync exchange contacts, will my mobileme contacts be erased? or they will coexist both without any problem?
    thanks!!!

Yes, you can. Contacts from MobileMe and the Exchange server will be stored in separate groups. In addition, you'll have access to the Global Address List on the Exchange server.

How do i copy my exchange contacts from my iphone to icloud

    Hi,
This has been an issue for a lot of people lately, including myself.
I personally prefer to have my contacts saved on apple's servers rather than microsoft's especially since I'm now using several apple devices.
I couldn't find any answers to this on the web, except exporting-importing manually each contact.
Worked that out by myself for a few hours and found this way of doing it "automatically" without the need of a computer, your iDevice will suffice!
Step 1 : have your windows live/exchange contacts synced on the idevice.
Step 2 : Install the Free application "My Contacts Backup" from the AppStore and make a backup.
Step 3 : Send the backup file to yourself via Email.
Step 4 : Make sure that the default contacts account on your iDevice is iCloud in "Settings - Mail, Contacts, Calender - Contacts - default account"
Step 5 : Open the backup file in the mail from the idevice and install all contacts.
Step 6 : Disable the contacts sync function of Exchange in "Settings - Mail, Contacts, Calender - your Echange Account name" if you do not want to have both in your contacts list. This will automatically delete all contacts on the iDevice from your Exchange account.
And Voila! Hope this will help a lot of people

  • Exchange Contacts Missing

Mail, Tasks and Calendars are sync without an issue. Contacts from my Outlook contact list come up short. I have over 450 contacts in Outlook but Address Book only pulled in 275 via Exchange. I deleted the account and set it up again, same issue. I can access the Exchange GAL without an issue but my Outlook contacts are not in sync.
    Anyone else having this issue?
    Thanks

  • How exchange contacts merge with iOS contacts?

i use iOS 8 Contacts on all of my Apple devices. I also have an Exchange account for work on them as well. If I turn on sync contacts, will it display the work contacts along with my existing contacts Without integrating them? I want to be able to turn my Outlook contacts off without losing my personal contacts. Also will my personal contacts then sync to my work Outlook?

All of your contacts from all of the accounts you have loggedinto on your iPhone will be displayed in Contacts. Your personal contacts will not sync to your work Outlook. Just be sure you have the right account selected in Settings>Mail, Contacts, Calendars the default account for newly added contacts. If you have duplicate contacts, you can link them together by going into the contact, tapping the Edit button in the upper right and swiping down to the linking section. Linking ony affects how the contacts are displayed on your phone.

  • Best method to integrate with Exchange server without a BES

We have 6 BB users configured with BIS, all with pc's running Outlook 2003 connected to an Exchange 2003 server. Presently, we forward all their incoming emails to their BB email address using Exchange's forward option under Delivery Options.
Would there be a better way of configuring these BB in our Exchange environment, without having to go to BES, so that they would get better wireless email reconciliation possibilities (2-way deletions mainly) ? Should we maybe use OWA, Pop3, Imap instead of forwarding from Exchange ?
Also, is wireless synchronization of calendar, contacts, only available when in a BES environment ?
    Thanks.

guys, my company exchange server and dont have BES, still it works well with Windows mobile and Nokia based phones, and they dont allow OWA and otherwise i cant fiond anywhere on BIS setup pages the set of inoput fields does not contain "domain name" field, it only asks for email/username/pw/mail server.
how to over come this, I tried few 3rd party software but they look like ......
    plz help
    Hi there...some questions...
If your firm does not allow OWA, then how are the WM devices getting email? Did your firm put up a POP or IMAP server, interfaced to their Exchange? Or are they using some proprietary MS solution to integrate the WM devices? If the former (POP/IMAP), then you should be able to integrate your BB via BIS (BIS can talk to nearly all internet-facing emails servers...but the server must truly be internet facing). If the latter, then you are out of luck since they've implemented a solution that is proprietary to MS devices...

Company Exchange account? If so, this is the way most employers want things.

  • Jabber for Windows and Ldap Contacts without CUPC license

    Dear Sr:
It is possible to add a user on ldap as a jabber contact WITHOUT assigning a CUPC license to the user?
The idea is that some users on the ldap don't have jabber but we should be able to add them as a contact AND we dont want to use jabber licenses for those users or have Presence server to load balance those users.
We can add Microsoft contact as jabber contact with no issues...
    Thanks

LDAP Authentication of End Users in CUCM is strongly recommended for CUPC/Jabber. When you login to CUPC/Jabber it authenticates against CUCM. If LDAP doesn't have the same password (i.e. CUCM isn't synced from LDAP) the client won't be able to do LDAP queries if using BDI. This is because it re-uses the same credentials when it attempts to bind to LDAP. If Jabber is configured for EDI, which is only even possible on Jabber for Windows running on domain-joined workstations, then this is not as critical since it would use the Windows ADSI API in the context of the logged-in user. Using EDI exclusively would rule out Jabber for Mac, iOS, Android, and Windows on a non-domain joined workstation though.
As for usernames: You can continue to use employeeNumber if you wish. You'll need to ensure that the jabber-config.xml file maps the username to this value for everything to work. Note that this will be their XMPP URI: [email protected] so be sure that you're comfortable with employee numbers being public.

  • IPhone with Exchange contacts will not sync to Laptop

A user at our company has an iPhone that syncs with our Exchange server just fine. He just purchased a Mac Book and cannot get his contacts to sync through iTunes.
It will sync any contacts that he has directly on the phone, but not any that are from the Exchange account.
Is there a way to do this?
    Thank you in advance.

No way to do this, which is a limitation with an Exchange account accessed via ActiveSync which provides for syncing contacts over the air with the Exchange server, and this is the way that most employers want it. Contacts synced over the air are not stored locally on the iPhone.
If the employer allows for accessing the company Exchange account on a personal computer at home, the user can create/access the company Exchange account with the Mail.app on his Mac, which provides for syncing Exchange contacts and calendar events with the Address Book and iCal.
What is available when syncing Exchange contacts over the air with an Exchange account on an iPhone is syncing personal contacts direct with a supported address book application on a personal computer at home via the iTunes sync process. Business and personal contacts can be viewed combined or separately on the iPhone and are stored and synced separately on the iPhone.

  • Revolution-Exchange contacts will not sync

I have an issue where my exchange contacts will not update on my new Revolution.  The Activesync is working fine with my mail and my calendar over my exchange account, but the phone will not load my contacts from exchange.  I have called online tech support and am working with my work IT group... but so far nothing has worked... any ideas from the group?

as a follow up - PROBLEM SOLVED...
I had to make a backup copy of my contacts... delete them all from my primary exchange contact list... and then I created a test contact which started the sync process to my phone.
I could then add my 600+ contacts back in smaller groups to get them to sync to my phone.
Thanks to my IT department for the suggestion !!!

After upgrading to iOS 5 I cannot enter to mail (outlook exchange ),contact did not open, general settings - mail contact did not work.help me

    Hi,
the settings are gone, i guess. But even worse, I cannot get the iPad2 to play Full HD thru the Apple digital AV adaptor using apps that support  (and advertise this), like AVPlayer HD. This definiteley used to work before one of the last iOS upgrades. (I am now at 5.1.1).

  • How can I back up my exchange contacts to icloud

    Good day
Our company has just lost our ms exchange server information. I am tasked to restore what I can but the situation looks dire. My fear is that when the clients with iphones (all the managers and myself) sync with their mailboxes with an empty contacts list, there phones will update to that contact list and they will lose all contacts on their phone that they have.
Can I somehow back up their exchange contacts to ICloud? My phone doen't let me.
My idea is: re-create their mail boxes, retrieve the contacts from the cloud, and in doing so, restore their contacts to their exchange account when it sync.
    Hope you can help
    Jacques

Open Contacts on your phone and tap Groups.  Then check to see what group the contacts belong to.  If they don't belong to an iCloud group, they won't sync with iCloud.

  • Can I send a text to a "group" contact without selecting each individual member?

Can I send a text to a "group" contact without selecting each individual member?  I have a group formed in my contacts, but I still have to select each member in that group to send a text or email from my phone.

There are apps that allow you to address sms messages to groups (such as Speed Names: https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/speed-names-contacts-groups/id285124918?mt=8), but not iMessages.  Perhaps this will change with a future iOS update.
The only point of having them at the moment is to allow you to limit the view to only contacts belonging to a group, so that you can more easily add the individual members of the group.  But at the present time, you still have to add them individually.
