Exchange email can no longer send since password on exchange was changed

I have an iPhone 4 that I could not initially get to send emails with exchange! Not sure why but it just started working and has been working ever since. It started working once the domain value was left empty but, although initially it couldn't login to exchange without! Something changed and it just started working and has been ever since.
Today was forced to change my login password for exchange and the network and updated the password in the iphone but now I'm back to receiving the "an error occurred while delivering this message" or if I empty the value from the Domain field I receive password prompts again. I'm now back to the problem I originally had any nothing changed except the password.
Does anyone have any ideas on what could be causing this as I receive email via push with no problem. It just will not send any emails. My iPad has exactly the same issue as well. Worked fine until I had to change the password

Dear iPhone user:
You've uncovered a subtle defect in iOS 4.21. The defect, and workaround are listed below.
Symptom: changing Hotmail/MSN/microsoft based email account password in iOS 4.21 allows INCOMING mail, but OUTGOING mail no longer works.
Defect/root cause: Changes to updated password in "Settings >> Mail, Contacts, Calendars >> [hotmail account]" to the 'Incoming Mail Server' field ARE NOT PROPAGATED to the 'Outgoing Mail Server' password field.
The issue is compounded because the Mail account setting for 'Incoming Mail Server' password field is discoverable, BUT 'Outgoing Mail Server' password is not discoverable.
Steps to workaround:
1. Choose "Settings >> Mail, Contacts, Calendars >> [hotmail account]".
2. Change 'Password' field under 'Incoming Mail Server'.
3. Click the link 'smtp.live.com' under 'Outgoing Mail Server / SMTP'.
4. Click the 'Primary Server' link (smtp.live.com) to bring up the 'Server Settings' page.
NOTE: details of the OUTGOING MAIL SERVER are displayed.
5. Click the 'outgoing' "Password" field, and enter the updated password.
RESULT: updates to 'incoming' password are accepted, but 'outgoing' password is not updated to match 'incoming'.
EXPECTED: whenever 'incoming' password is changed, the 'outgoing' password should be changed TO MATCH [via the iOS mail client settings app]

    Questions:
    What happens when you put in an email address in an event? (Make sure the email address is also in your addressbook (Macintosh HD > Applications > Addressbook)
    Are you using calendars that show up under "On My Mac" on the left hand side of iCal or are the calendars under a different heading?
    Troubleshooting:
    Make sure that you can send / receive email in the Apple Mail program.
    Make sure that the email address in Mail > Preferences > Accounts is also on your Addressbook card:Go to Addressbook > Card > Go to My Card -- The email address you are using to send receive messages on your computer should be on this card.
    If that doesn't take care of it:
    1. First make an iCal backup:  Click on each calendar on the left hand side of iCal one at a time highlighting it's name and then going to File Export > Export and saving the resulting calendar file to a logical location for safekeeping.
    2. Go to iCal > Quit iCal
    3. Remove the following to the trash and restart your computer:
    Home > Library > Caches > com.apple.ical
    Home > Library > Calendars > Calendar Cache, Cache, Cache 1, 2, 3, etc. (Do not remove Sync Cache or Theme Cache if present)
    4. Launch iCal and test.
    If the issue persists:
    1. Go to iCal > Quit iCal
    2. Remove the following to the trash and restart your computer:
    Home > Library > Caches > com.apple.ical
    Home > Library > Calendars > Calendar Cache, Cache, Cache 1, 2, 3, etc. (Do not remove Sync Cache or Theme Cache if present)
    Home > Library > Preferences > com.apple.ical (There may be more than one of these. Remove them all.)
    --- NOTE: Removing these files may remove any shared (CalDAV) calendars you may have access to. You will have to re-add those calendars to iCal > Preferences > Accounts.
    3. Launch iCal and test.

    The error I see is you did not specify the proper authentication for the smtp server.
    In the Mail preferences for the account, smtp popup, select Edit SMTP Server List.  A sheet will drop down.  Select Advanced tab on that sheet.  You should, I assume, set the Authentication to password, and set the proper username and password.  That's where the poper would be set if 587 is not the one you should be using.  Maybe it is.  I only bring it up since I see it trying to use port 587.
    If you got this stuff already set correctly then I don't know.  Mail has a problem in your setup.  Maybe delete the account and recreate it from scratch.

    I have 5 email accounts set up on my imac. 3 are mine 2 are my partners. I can no longer send emails from my accounts but my partner still can. They all still receive mail but when I attempt to send mail I get:-
    Cannot Send Message Using Server
    Then i'm asked to select a different server from a list. I have tried all but to no avail.
    I first of all deleted my partners sky.com account because it appeared to me that this was maybe overiding all other accounts and it was no longer needed on imac.
    I then deleted one of my accounts - hotmail, to see if i added it again maybe it would work but now I cant even re add the mail account as everytime i go to mail, preferences account to set it up again the initial screen comes up with my partners details including the sky.com username and when i overwrite these and try to install hotmail acount I get told that logging in failed check user name and password is correct. Which they are.
    All used to work fine but now I have these problems, they appeared to have started when my partner set up an icloud account and is synching with this - could this be the cause?

    First,
    I'd run all availiable software updates. After that, I would try removing all of the accounts from "Mail", and then re-adding them. Be aware that if your folders and such are located on your mac, and not on the mail servers, you may risk lose some information (always have a back-up).
    Sometimes, when you have a number of e-mail account there can be server issues abound. I would go into the server lists and make sure that they are set properly. If you see the "use only this server" box, check it for each of them.

    Please read and begin using Can receive email, but not send email. I had a similar issue with Comcast mail (could receive by not send) and found my answer in this letter. For me it took resetting the outgoing mail and telling the system to use a password when sending outgoing mail. If you need help with that please advise and I'll tell you where to look.

    My send mail icon is now greyed out and I can no longer send mail. The only thing that I have done that I never do is I selected the "synchronize" option on the mailbox name after right clicking on it last night.
    As far as Mail goes, I attempted to set up a MediaCom email box several days ago that never worked correctly, but I changed no settings on the exchange account and it was working great 24 hours ago. I've deleted the MediaCom email box.
    Tried the usual quitting, rebooting but nothing is working, any ideas why this started and how to fix.

    It is possible the Evil Starbucks empire has blocked SMTP sending as an antispam measure. You would need to log in to your email server using the smtpauth protocol. For example, Earthlink has an smtpauth.earthlink.net server for secure sending, which I was able to use sending from any public AP. Possibly T-Mobile has a similar authorized server.
    But nowadays I just use Gmail, they make it easy and reliable to send from anywhere because they use a custom smtp port. Yeah, Gmail solved a multitude of problems with mobile sending.

    My gmail, which is correctly configured for Mail with gmail SMTP and Google IMAP, works for awhile on Mail, which I leave open while working on other applications. But several times a day I get msg from Google: "We recently blocked a sign-in attempt to your Google Account" . . . and requiring me to verify my account details, re-enter passwords, confirm security settings (or change them from "disable" to "enable less secure methods" and so on). In Mail I also have tried "taking all accounts online", and re-entering my gmail password inside Mail account settings. These steps successfully re-set comms between gmail and Mail ... for awhile, then it happens again. Enough occurrences over a work day that I just quit Mail and revert to accessing gmail directly. Apple Care advisor and an Apple knowledge base article say that Apple can't deal with this, as gmail is third-party app, and they refer me to gmail, and so far I've found nothing helpful there.
    From today I also have several instances of a window saying "Mail has unexpectedly closed" and asking me to Re-open it.
    I also use Yahoo mail, which stops working with Mac Mail at the same time as gmail, but I do not receive notices to re-verify from Yahoo.
    I recently upgraded from Mavericks to Yosemite. The Mail problem happened occasionally with Mavericks but is far more frequent with Yosemite.

    Check the outgoing mail server setting. Make sure that your username and password are in there.
    Settings>Mail, Contacts, Calendars>Your email account>Account>Outgoing mail server - tap the server name next to SMTP and check in the primary server and make sure your username and password are entered and correct - even if it says that the password is optional.

    Try this first - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.)
    Or this - Delete the account in Mail and then set it up again. Settings->Mail, Contacts, Calendars -> Accounts   Tap on the Account, then on the red button that says Remove Account.

    For years I have been using [email protected] for business.
    It is on my business cards, stationary and most of my closest correspondences are maintained off of that email.
    The documentation I've read indicates aliases should be transferred over as part of this iCloud migration but this does not seem to be the case.
