Exchange Email: Days to Sync

What does the "Days to Sync" feature do on the iPhone? I understand that it tells it how many days of email to sync up, but what are the advantages/disadvantages to having it set as "no limit?"
Is there a way to get it to display only x amount of messages in each folder and have it fetch new ones the same way IMAP emails are handled?
Thanks

Upping mail days to sync means more memory on your iPhone is used for email - disadvantage. Since you can search the server, i find 2 weeks works for me. The advantage is that you have all the email you want with you.
Also the time for the initial sync will be tied to how many messages you are syncing.
You can control which folders get pushed in realtime - limited to inbox and its subfolders, but there is no way to tell only display the last 100 messages.

  • Exchange email will only sync over WiFi on iPhone 6

    Hello.
We use iPhones with our Exchange 2010 SP3 servers for email through activesync.
We've recently bought three iPhone 6 handsets and have set them up in exactly the same way as before - we have a mobileconfig file that runs users through the setup.
On one of them email will only sync correctly when the user is in our office and connected to our internal WiFi.
When he's using a 3g connection no new emails are delivered, though he doesn't get any error messages - it appears to sync ok, as though there are no new emails for him. Reconnect to our WiFi and email flows as normal.
I don't believe we have any DNS issues as email is working just fine for everyone else in and out of our network.
Has anyone else seen this behaviour, and ideally fixed it?
    Thanks

I had this exact same problem with Email that would only sync while on company's internal wifi for my iphone 6, despite it working perfectly with my other device.  Checked the settings on both devices and they were all the same.  While looking online for a fix I noticed there are a lot of people with this issue, unfortunately none of the "fixes" worked for me.
Originally I had my iPhone 6 setup to match the settings on my iPad with the server name "exchange.company.com".  This gave me all the check marks as expected, but it wouldn't update unless on internal wifi.  I was able to get my iphone 6 working by adjusting the server name in the account settings.  After I adjusted the server name to be "outlook.company.com", I got the same checkmarks and my email is now working perfectly.
Not sure why it is different between the two devices but since it has solved my issue I will ignore that portion.  Hope this helps.

  • Connect Exchange email without active sync just as I do on Mac mail on Mac book.  Using OWA site.

I am trying to connect my exchange email to my iPhone without using active sync. I am able to connect it to the Mac mail program on my MacBook pro with out ay issues. Can this be done on the iPhone?  Please instruct.

    Hi,
I have a similar issue, just purchased Iphone4, can't get my enterprise emails because i get the typical "Unable to verify" message. My It guys (which are totally unfamiliar with Iphone because we are a blackberry-organisation ) tried to create an acoount on my iphone with no succes, afterwards they said that our email application is not compatible with iphone and that "we will upgrade it but don't know when".
After googeling (without understanding much ) i found that:
Active Sync is needed for Iphone to get emails, Active Sync works only with Microsoft Exchange SP2.
We have Microsoft Exchange 2003 RTM (6.5.6944.3) so no SP1, no SP2.
Is this the issue why we can't get it work?  If yes, is there any other way to get my emails without this ActiveSync?
(we have OWA in case this is usefull).
    Thanks a lot!

  • Gmail/Exchange email and calendar syncing issues

I have wiped my email accounts several times and entered in my data in the various ways as shown through the forums but my email accounts do no sync properly whether it is manual or active synced.
I read my emails in my gmail and my Microsoft exchange account and will delete or file them away but then when I check my accounts on my desktop, they are not synced as I've done so on my phone. I've also noticed that my calendars are not synced correctly either.
Could someone help me understand why and how these issues can be fixed? I'm in meetings for most of the day so I rely on my phone to keep me mobile. Was this a bad purchase?!?!

    Hi JadeyMU,
How do you have your Microsoft Exchange account configured on your BlackBerry Z10? Are you using ActiveSync, BlackBerry Enterprise Server (BES), IMAP or POP?
    Thanks.

  • Exchange email will not sync

Re: Iphone 4; I have two email accounts on Exchange: Gmail and a work email.
For the past week my phone will not push the new emails to my phone. I have it where I fetch my emails manually. I'm getting the spinning wheel of death and it says "Checking for mail", but the emails will not show up.
Something seems to be sucking the battery life out of my phone. (Is this related?)
What I have done: Reset the phone; deleted the email account and added it back on. Nothing seems to work.
Everything else on my phone seems to be working fine.

    Hi,
Please check if this issue affects all activesync users. If only one user is affected, please check if this user is in quarantine list.
And you can enable the ActiveSync Mailbox Logging and then check if there is any related information.

  • 5.02 caused Microsoft exchange email to stop syncing

On my work email on my Z1... Says it's a certificate issue... So I reinstalled the email account and now it won't even connect to the server... Checked wit it...Not a server issue

Hi AA9, welcome to the community!
Did you try clearing the data for the app before re-signing in? If not, could you please try this. You just go into your Settings > Apps > All > tap on Email (or whichever app you are using) > tap Clear data.
    Keep us updated.

  • TS1868 Corporate Exchange Contacts Won't Sync

I have a corporate OTA MS-Exchange email account that syncs all emails, contacts and calendar events with my iPhone.  When I try to sync to my personal PC, 99% of the contacts do not sync.  Why?
I recently changed companies.  The old company shut off my exchange account access and these same 99% of contacts, most of them personal instead of business, are now no longer viewable on the iPhone.  How can I view them again to either manually capture the data or send them to my new exchange sync account?

I notice exactly the same problem: perfect sync with Mail and iCal; no sync on Addressbook.
However, the problem can be ring-fenced a bit better:
    1. sync works fine for "contacts" or "suggested contacts" one introduces in a personal contacts part of the outlook addressbook.
    2. What does "apparently" not function, is the sync with the "<corporate> global addresslist": the global addresslist as a category does appear in the apple addressbook, but it's content remains blank.
    3. What does work, is to select the "<corporate> address list" in the Apple addressbook, and then do a search on a name.  On that moment, the name gets filled in the list of the "<corporate> global addresslist", and clicking on that record provides the detail of the address card.
Conclusion: some sync-ing takes place, but there seems to be something blocking the immediate visualisation of the "<corporate> global addresslist"
Any idea why the list does not appear ?

  • "No limit" not displaying for number of days to sync email

    I recently purchased 16GB iPad w/ retina display (MD513LL) running IOS 6.0.1
I successfully set up MS Exchange email account, but it does not give me the option of "no limit" under number of days to sync.
I read in a few prior posts that deleting the email accounting and setting it up again works, but I tried that at least 6 times (it worked for my new iPhone 5, but not the iPad).

I might be wrong but I don't think so because I set up the same account on my iPhone 5 which allowed for the "no limit" option.

  • Microsoft Exchange link won't sync, doesn't receive email since updating 5s to iOS 8.0. Is there a solution to this?

iPhone 5s stopped receiving Exchange email a couple of days after updating to iOS 8.0. Initially there were no problems. Microsoft Exchange account now connects but won't sync.Other email accounts, Safari and Apps work with no problems. Have tried removing and re-entering the Exchange account, and done a Network Reset. Still get 'No Mail' on Exchange email screen. Is this a common occurrence and does anyone have a solution?

We had about 10 iPhones (4S, 5, 5S) which did not receive any mail or other things over Exchange. After some research, we did an iisreset on our Exchange OWA. This was our solution. Everything is working fine now.

  • Exchange Email sync issues

I have my Microsoft Exchange email account setup on my IPhone 4S(5.1.1). My email account has several folders and rules to sort emails into those folders. Even though I have selected those folders in the "Folders to Push" setting, they don't show up in my normal mail app. I don't get an alert (by showing the number of email in that folder) either. If I browse those folders in the account on phone, the emails are there, so I can that the sync is working.
Is anyone else facing this issue?

I usually keep them at 1 week, but I had been working with the default of 3 days after setting up the accounts so many times.
Update: We tried setting up a different exchange account from our server onto my iPhone, and it worked.  I am convinced that it is an issue with my account, however that still doesn't solve my problem.  I would delete this thread since I no longer believe that I need apple support, but I can't figure out how!

  • Blackberry Desktop 6 Detects previous Exchange email and will not sync

I previously had an exchange email account setup from an employer and that is no longer the profile I am using, but Blackberry Desktop still detects it even though it is deleted in my mail settings.  I have uninstalled and reinstalled the software and it still detects the previous email settings.

I am having the same issue.
    Music Services Failed to Load
    An unexpected error occured
This didn't happen until the other day when the new Desktop Manager was updated.
I think the issue is that my iTunes library resides on an external drive.   I can't seem to find how / where to tell BB Desktop Manager where my iTunes library is.  I have tried leaving my iTunes file open and that didn't work either.
I switched the music to Windows Media Player and some old music files that reside on my "C" drive were located but when I switch it back to iTunes I get the error.
    Any help is greatly appreciated.

  • IPad 3 - Exchange server mail need more than 1 month of mail days to sync - Please help!

Use to have 'No Limit' as an option... where did it go?  Worthless if I can't work with email more than a month old.

The option is there, just disappears once you add the account.
The work around is to delete the account and re-add it.  Immidately after you add the account go into the account settings and select "Mail Days to Sync".  "No Limit" will appear at the top, select it and save.  After a few seconds the option will no longer be visible but the mail account will function properly.  If you select another time restriction, you'll have to start over.

  • 755p - How to sync only Exchange email but not calendar or contacts?

I successfully set up my new 755p to sync with our Exchange server at work, but I noticed that ALL of my work contacts were now on my Treo, and vice-versa. When I go to the settings for email by using Options -> Preferences -> Auto Sync there are 3 check boxes, one each for Mail, Calendar, and Contacts. I thought this was my solution but unfortunately when I check one box, they all check. And when I uncheck one box, they all uncheck. Why are there 3 separate check boxes here if they all work together or none at all? And if there is no way to individually check a box, how can I have my Treo 755p only sync with my Exchange email, and not with my contacts or calendar? I do not want all my personal contacts on my Treo getting sent to my work Exchange contacts. I only need the sync feature to get my work email delivered to my Treo when I'm not in the office. Thanks.
Post relates to: Treo 755p (Sprint)

Unfortunately EAS in Versamail 3.5 is an all or nothing option.  In the product information if you were purchasing Versamail 3.5 is the Using built-in Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync, wirelessly sync Calendar, Contacts, and email with your company's Microsoft Exchange Server 2003 (access enabled by your IT administrator). Or, access business email using POP or IMAP and a compatible Virtual Private Network (VPN) client (sold separately).   The Guidelines for EAS on Exchange Server 2003 with MSFP (message and security feature pack) puts out the specification for Windows Mobile devices to sync Email, Calendar, Contacts and Tasks to Exchange server and any other partnership can do files, favorites, notes, media but the PIMS once enabled to go through EAS will only go through EAS until that partnership is removed. On a Palm OS based device the 755 is compatible for Direct Push email, calendar and contacts sync as well as some policy enforcement from the Mobile Access Admistrator plugin for Exchange 2003 such as PW enforcement, remote wipe.  The specifications made the rules.  Versamail 3.5 on the Treo 755 just follows them.

  • Exchange email not syncing with Outlook 2010 and Z10

    Hi all,
I've just set up my work email's to sync with my BB Z10. This all works fine and I'm getting the emails on my phone. But when I read an email from my phone, it does not get read in Outlook. When I delete an email on my phone, it does not get deleted in Outlook. Vice versa. If I read and delete emails in Outlook, they do not get read or deleted on my phone. This is rather frustrating as the whole point of syncing emails is to be able to have full control away from the office. I've got Delete on Handheld and Server on yet they are not deleting on Handheld and Server. These settings work fine for my personal accounts but just not on my Exchange account. Initially when I deleted a load of messages from my phone I got the following message 'Email messages will be removed from the BlackBerry Hub but will remain on the server'. Can I turn this option off? Also why is it coming up with this even though I have Delete on Handheld and Server on.
    Thanks in advance,
    Rajan
