Exchange – Emails in sent folder have no sender information in header

Hey Everybody,
when I send emails with my exchange account in mail.app the copy of the email that is stored in the sent folder is missing the sender information in its header. The "from" column is empty, however, it should say my name there.
Pretty annoying because I use smart folders to organize my mails that depend on the sender information in the header. The only workaround I found so far is using imap in mail.app instead of exchange – but that's not a really satisfying solution.
I only have this problem when using mail.app with exchange. When I use the outlook.com web interface to send emails they are shown correctly in the sent folder in mail.app. Same goes for sending mails via exchange from my iPhone. My MobileMe account also works perfectly in mail.app. For the receiver there is no problem either - my name is correclty displayed as the sender.
Is anybody else having that problem or knows or solution?

Open Apple Contacts and verify your contact as "My Card". Microsoft calls this card "This is me". It's not stored on Exchange but in the local Outlook Address Book. I don't use Exchange  so not sure if Apple will let you select your contact on Exchange contacts. You might need to select the local or iCloud contact.

Once you set "My Card", check to see if the issue is fixed.
If you still have issues.....
Let's eliminate issues in your User's folder by testing in a new User.
CREATE A NEW USER
Go to System Preferences --> Create a New User in Accounts. Switch to the New User by logging out/in or use Fast User Switching.
Add your Exchange account to Mail.
Do you still see the issue?
If yes, then the problem is with your base files.
If no, then the problem is in your User's folder.
Option to repair Mail in your User's folder:
Go to your User's Library folder. (if you don't know how to find, see this link.)
Scroll to Mail folder.
Select the V2 > MailData folder.
Delete any files in MailData with envelope in the name. (should be 3)
You can test Mail after deleting envelope files. When you open Mail it will re-index your files.
If you still have problems....
Go to Containers in the User's Library folder.
Delete the com.apple.mail folder.
Go to Preferences in the User's Library folder.
If you find any com.apple.mail.plist files, delete these.
Log out under the Apple in the Menu bar
Log in
Open Mail.

  • Mac mail keeps sending emails from different accounts even though it says correct email in "sent" folder. Recipients reply and it goes to different email address. So confusing.

mac mail keeps sending emails from my different accounts even though it says correct email in "sent" folder and correct email account was highlighted. Recipients reply and it goes to different email address. So confusing and annoying.

    Hi Mike,
I had the same issue and managed to solve it.
    Go into Mail>Preferences>Accounts
Then in the account information tab, at the bottom should be outgoing mail server (SMTP) and click the drop down box
Mine had a few different servers in it so i went into edit SMPT server list. Click advanced and it will tell you which ones are going from which email address.
Delete the ones you dont want, and it should work or instead of deleting click use only this server, i imagine that will work to
    Hope This Helps

  • Emails says sent but doesn't send just disappears; no errors given...

-Firstly can i start by moaning at Apples awful job with iOS6 (regular OS crashes, intermitent iMessage failures, crap maps, half a job on facebook integration etc.) ...
Thats asside here is (one of my many issues) I am experiencing since upgrading to iOS6:
I can send new emails from any of my email accounts (be it exchange or IMAP). But when i recieve an email I click reply (type it) and click send...
It makes a woosh sound to say sent but stays on sending.... eventually sending disappears and it says up to date. HOWEVER the email does not get sent it just simply vanishes. No error messages, and not in outbox and sent messages. It literally vanshes. I wouldnt mind but it doesnt even reach its destonation so i now cant reply to emails on my phone... Great!
I have tried deleting and resetting up the email accounts.... did nothing.
I have tried restoring the phone... did nothing.
Like i said i can send new emails but it wont let me reply to most of them only some. I have to CC myself into all emails now to see which ones the iphone has an issues with and have so far found no link between them.
I have seen other online forums with people experiencing the same issue but i have not found a solution or an article on the Apple communities so raised this one.
    Thanks for reading.
    Simon

Hmm that is my last attempt at fixing it although i dont want to do that as ill lose all my app saves etc    I'ts clearly not happy about something as it is only specific emails (which i also cant forward either), but i can copy the text into a new mail and send that way.
Ill try updating to 6.0.1 when i get wifi too, that may help.
    thanks for the reply

  • Email issue - sent items not actually sending

Has anybody come across this issue before? I have an IMAP email account on my Q10 and a 4G contract with O2. Sometimes (at least, I think this is an intermittent problem!) emails that I send from my Q10 show as sent and appear in the sent items folder on the server but they do not actually send and they never arrive at the recipient's mailbox. This is very confusing for me as the user because, as far as I can tell, the email looks to have been sent successfully and there is no warning that it has failed. Any thoughts on why this might happen?

    Okay.   Backing up.
You send an email to yourself from the iPad and also do the same from the BlackBerry.   Both devices show that the email was sent.   You check the email account through the web interface and see the messages you sent in the sent items folder. You check the inbox and the message sent with the iPad is there but sometimes the message sent with the BlackBerry is not there.
Is that essentially correct?   If so, it sounds like the email service.   I wonder if you did the experiment over and over if you wouldn't find that the problem occasionally happens with email sent with other devices.    I also wonder if the missing emails won't eventually "arrive" in the Inbox.
I'm also curious if this happens with another email service.   Do you have a Yahoo or Gmail or ISP account to test with?

  • How to retrieve an email in Sent folder after the email was accidently deleted?

I was looking through the Sent folder, and went to close an email. It was deleted, I cannot see how to retrieve it.

  • No copy in Sent Folder when I send Mail on IPad 2

When I send e-Mails, a copy is Not beint created in the "sent" Folder. What can I do?

Try a Reset [Hold the Home and Sleep/Wake buttons down together for 10 seconds or so (until the Apple logo appears) and then release. When the screen goes blank then power ON again in the normal way.] It is absolutely safe.

  • Body of email displayed is not from the sender in the header

I could not find anything about this in a search, and a visual scan of the discussions.
After two weeks of being shut down (vacation), and occasionally during that time accessing email through dotMac, I encountered the following when I restarted my home desktop.
Some of the emails have a body and a heading that do not match. The body, whether HTML or Rich Text, is clearly from a different email than the header. And, to emphasize, this is not ALL the email, only SOME of them (I cannot discern a pattern here!).
The same emails display just fine through the online dotMac Safari window, the body being from the corresponding sender (I keep them stored on the server).
So, something happens to SOME of the emails when downloading from the server to my computer. This body/header incongruity still happens to SOME emails that come through now, days after the initial restart.
Perhaps related - there were a lot of emails to download/sync. Mail crashed OFTEN until the accounts synced with the server. (I sent MANY crash reports to Apple). I worked through dotMac Mail in Safari to delete/read/respond/etc.; Mail finally quit crashing when the number of new emails was greatly reduced.
    Observations? Solutions? Please Help!

No, I have never had a response that even offered a suggestion until just today. The problem never "self-corrected" - even though I use IMAP, those emails, when displayed on my computer had the incongruity between the header and the body as I described.
Since it has been up and going, all subsequent emails have been OK. It was just that initial restart/sync after the desktop had been shut down, for several weeks, and I had accessed the mail online while gone.
I see there is a post after yours about trashing the plist. Maybe I'll try that, but it seems to not be an issue now.

  • Set up exchange email on my imac but that same information will not work to set up exchange on my iphone. Any ideas?

set up exchange email on my imac successfully but that same information will not work to set up exchange on my iphone. Any ideas?

If your Imac is connected to the same Lan as your Exchange Server he might be able to access the DNS record for the autodiscovery services (the url that allow outlook/entourage or modern smartphone to autoconfigure the exchange account).
If this url has not been made public by your IT staff, your iphone cannot resolve it.
Typically, the url for autodiscover is based on your address email domain, i.e. if your email address is [email protected] the url for autodiscover will be https://autodiscover.company.com/autodiscover/autodiscover.xml
A good test is try to open this URL from a web browser (authentification may be requiered) from the imac and iphone then compare result. The expected behavior would be the display of an xml page with very little content (this is normal), if there is an http error or that the page cannot be displayed then autodiscover is not available from the network you are using.
If so you need to request from your IT the name of the ActiveSync Url to use, most company use the same as the webmail url, so if to access your wemail you need to go https://webmail.company.com, the name to use on your iphone would be webmail.company.com
    Hope that help

  • IPhone Deletes Exchange Emails To Wrong Folder

    Hello all!
I have a Microsoft Exchange mail account setup on my iPhone 4 (iOS 6.1) which works wonderfully, short of one aspect:  Emails deleted from my phone do not go to the accounts standard 'Trash' folder, but to a different 'Deleted' folder.  I can see no way to change this setting.  Any ideas?

Thanks Templeton.  This is the only definitive answer I've found anywhere.  Turns out my iPhone was correct and my other email clients are sending to the wrong folder!

  • When I send adobe documents by email they don't have the typed information

I have an adobe document that allows me to type info on it and save the new document. However, when I email the new document the information that was typed into it doesn't show up for the person I emailed it to. This just started when I bought Lion

I don't have pro, I am using a document that has the typewriter tool. Before updating to Lion it worked fine. I could open the document, activate the typewriter, and fill in info (it is a pre-written real estate contract). Once I saved it I could then email it to clients for them to sign. Now it only sends the document as the pre-written contract without the info I filled in. If pro is needed for this that news to me. I can send you a copy of the document if you'd like to look it over.

  • All my emails in every folder have been deleted - can I restore them?

I have always created individual files by subject for emails I wished to keep.
Today, I deleted the 'Bin' and 'Spam' contents, which took some time as they kept coming back.
When I then went to my subject files e.g. dog, car, legal etc. all these files were empty, yet I had not touched them!
I had a number of important emails for ongoing correspondence that I very badly need to recover.
    Is this possible?
I am using Windows 7 64bit and have Kaspersky as my Security program. The latter has not shown any sign of suspicious activity.

''I deleted the 'Bin' and 'Spam' contents, which took some time as they kept coming back.''
What exactly does 'coming back' mean?
What's the account type of the account where you created the 'subject folders' - POP or IMAP?

  • HT2736 What email address do you have to send a gift to

If I want to gift my grandson a game app what email has it got to go to his apple account or his general email ie gmail.com

No.  You can share the same Apple/iTunes ID and account.  However, oon one device you migh want to add another calling/messaging email address for FaceTime and Messages so you can contact one another with those apps.  To do that go to Settings>Facetime (or Messages) and add another email address and delete the other one.

  • Bought iTunes Gift cards and lost them in the train earlier today. I send an email using Express lane, have just been informed that Apple cannot assist me in deactivating these cards before someone else(a thief no doubt) uses them. How can I solve this?

I am shocked Apple is not taking this seriously. I have receipt and my bank statement to prove the transaction took place. £250 (£50 x 5) is what I will be losing.

iTunes gift cards, as is the case with many gift cards, are like cash; if you lose them, they're gone and cannot be refunded, nor can Apple deactivate the cards; they have no way of doing so. Sorry, but you're just out that money.
    Regards.

  • Messages in "Sent" folder have disappeared

About 1,500 disappeared about a month ago and about 1/2 hour ago 400 disappeared.
    How do I retrieve them?
    Thank you.

You could try the advice in the page I linked, under "Corrupted Folders". If Thunderbird is in its safe mode, are the messages still missing? Some extensions can cause problems.
    * http://kb.mozillazine.org/Compacting_folders#Compacting_doesn.27t_seem_to_work
How often do you compact your folders? You should be doing that frequently. Try the advice above first.
