Exchange emails lost when sent w/o connectivity?

Hello,
Are others losing messages when composing and sending emails via Exchange ActiveSync and hit "send" only to find out that they are in an area without coverage and it disappears? The message does not appear in drafts, sent folder, or the outbox. Running iPhone 2.0 on a first gen iPhone.
thanks!
Sean

Yes, that has happened repeatedly to me ever since I first got the phone, and not necessarily through ActiveSync.
BUT, in my case, the other people are getting the emails. Still, it's EXTREMELY irritating to have the message "disappear" and not show up in the sent folder.
So, at least for me, this isn't a new issue and I haven't noticed it happening more now that I have my Exchange synced to my iphone.
But I went to Montana last week, where there is no AT&T presence (you hook up to a "partner") and what you described happened over and over again, but mostly with my non-Exchange accounts.

  • Email security when sent from Desktop

    I work for a small company with a couple of users that have their own BBs.  We are on Exchange Server 2007 and our users are running MS Outlook 2000 locally (with their own .pst files, if that matters).  They would like to have their work email sent to their BBs which I don't see as a problem except for one thing, when email is sent to them at work and it is forwarded from our Exchange server to BBs servers, is that email secure?  I know that it is secure when it is sent from BBs servers to their devices.  We do not have BES.
    Thanks for your help and consideration.

  • How do I restore address book and emails lost when I upgraded to current version?

    First, I am not a tech savvy guy, so please be patient with me.
    Last Friday, my email stopped. Message on the screen said "Inbox is full. Delete unwanted messages to make room" etc.
    First, I went to Help/Tools and upgraded to the newest version. That did not solve the problem.
    I couldn't find anything on Mozilla/Thunderbird site that seemed to fit the problem, so I contacted my service provider, XMission.
    After trying several things, and guiding me through several things that I did not really understand (see 1st line above), he then guided me to the Mozilla web site and had me download a new version from there. (His explanation was that probably there was something in my longtime Mozilla/Thunderbird installation that had become corrupted). So I did that.
    We finished about 2 AM, and the "Inbox" appeared to be working, and all of a sudden email from last Friday through to early this morning appeared in the inbox. So I thought the problem was solved.
    Alas, this morning, when I got looking through things, I discover that my address book is gone, and all my archive files, going back several years. I contacted XMission again, and they told me I had been contact Mozilla.

    yeah, about time you stopped following their bad advice anyway. The fix was originally simple. Now not so much.
    So 20 question time. I am asking each question for a reason. please answer them all.
    In the windows start menu... type %appdata%\thunderbird\profiles and press enter
    In the explorer windows that opens, what folders are shown? (Names please)
    On Thunderbirds help menu select troubleshooting information and click the show folder against profiles.
    What folder does explorer open into this time? (it will be one of those you listed before I hope.)
    Is there only a few incoming emails in your inbox in the mail profile your currently using? (I hope so.)

  • Cannot send mail after iOS7 , there is no "sent itens", email disapears when sent, but it does not go through

    Hi,
    my wife's iPhone 4S went haywire after iOS7. First it would not authorize iMessage ever, and there was a problem with all "Push" notifications. I had to backup, reset and restore for it to work. After that, her business POP email account stopped sending mail. It will receive emails normally, but she is unable to send. If you type an email and send it, it disapears, not "thinking" animation on the top, and it is not received. Checking the email folders there is no "sent itens" or "outbox" folders.
    Tried deleting and re-creating the account, to no avail. Any ideas? I really did not want to full reset it again, she will make me eat the d**m phone.

  • Emails lost when moved from inbox to 'on my mac' after Mavericks upgrade

    Hi, upgraded my MBP to Mavericks at the end of October. Everything seemed with the mail app at the time. A couple of days after i noticed that mails that appeared in the inbox that weren't cleared in that same session that they appeared would only show the subject line and nothing in the in box.  When i tried to move it to 'on my mac' i would get an error indicating that 'it could not be moved the mailbox on my mac.' Read around discovered that doing a 'mailbox rebuild' would fix that. Then i started to notice that nothing appears in the 'on my mac' mail folders after the date of the upgrade. When i drag and drop from the inbox to the follder, the mail seems to move. But when search in the folder for it, its gone. And of course its gone from the inbox since imoved it. I only use the mail app to check my icloud email. No gmail.
    Where have all my mails gone? Any one else seen this and know how to fix it?
    Thanks

    Please let me know if you find a solution, I should not have trusted Apple and stayed with my old operating system, but now too late!

  • IOS 6.1.3 is dropping Exchange email attachments when forwarding, specifically PDF

    We originally noticed this on iPhone 5 but are now seeing it on all 6.1.3 devices as others upgrade. It seems to be aggrevated by traffic load. We are using MobileIron to manage the environment and the Sentry is in the DMZ with an inside and outside facing firewall (Cisco ASA).
    Another problem since the 6.1.3 upgrade is when sending a message with an attachment, the system will fail to send the message on first attempt. Moving to the Outbox folder and re-sending the message will successfully (sans the attachment) push to Exchange. This is highly repeatable when forwarding PDF and XLS files. Other types of attachments seem to be much less effected.
    We have approximately 750 i Devices currently on the system. Fortunately the large majority doesn't forward attachments on a regular basis.
    Has anyone else experienced this problem? Is there a workaround?

    Issue was resolved by re-enrolling the device into the company's exchange environment, which basically re-configured the exchange account. Unfortunately we use Device Management software, that disables the ability to do this manually.

  • Emails are lost when sending interrupted by bad connection

    I have a problem with iOS5.1 on iPad 2 where Gmail emails that are sent generate an error "connection problem" and then the email just disappears. It is not saved to drafts (although there is sometimes an early draft that does not include the reams that I had typed just before sending), and there does not appear to be an outbox. This is a major problem. Has anyone else come across this problem and does anyone know how to retrieve these lost emails or how to avoid this problem?

  • Connection lost when sending email from iSeries machine w/ JavaMail API?

    Hello all,
    I have a never-ending process (RPGLE) running on the iSeries machine that frequently needs to send an email. In an attempt to improve performance, I connect to the SMTP server as soon as this process starts. Then, each time an email must be sent, I construct the message and send it. This seems to work, but occasionally (no particular pattern) something goes wrong that causes a javax.mail.MessagingException to be thrown. When this occurs, the process continues to retry the send until it works again... it always ends up working again after 4 minutes or less. However, I'm concerned about the fact that it gets this exception. Any suggestions or ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! Jesse
    Here are some code snippits:
    ~~~The RPGLE process first calls a method to setup the SMTP server and connect:
    String hostName = "email.hostname";
    String hostType = "email.hosttype";
    // Get system properties
    Properties systemProperty = System.getProperties();
    // Setup mail server
    systemProperty.put(hostType, hostName);
    systemProperty.put("mail.smtp.connectiontimeout", "30000");
    systemProperty.put("mail.smtp.timeout", "30000");
    // Get session
    session = Session.getDefaultInstance(systemProperty, null);
    // Connect to the smtp server.
    transport = session.getTransport("smtp");
    transport.connect();
    ~~~ Then, when needed, the RPGLE process continues to call a method to send email. It is in here that the MessagingException is thrown.
    if (!transport.isConnected())
    transport.connect();
    message = new MimeMessage(session);
    message.setFrom(new InternetAddress(from));
    message.setRecipient(Message.RecipientType.TO, new InternetAddress(to));
    message.setSubject(subject);
    message.setContent(text,"text/html");
    message.setHeader("X-Mailer", "HtmlMail");
    message.saveChanges();
    transport.sendMessage(message, message.getRecipients (Message.RecipientType.TO));

    Thanks for the link. It was helpful. I added code to print the details of the exception to an IFS text file. However, I'm still not able to determine the problem. Any suggestions you can provide will be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

  • What is the expected behavior in iOS 7 when hitting send on an email with no wifi or cell connection being present?

    What is the expected behavior in iOS 7.x when hitting send on an email with no wifi or cell connection being present? Also is the behavior designed to be any different if the user intiates airplane mode ahead of time?
    We have a couple of users that claim in this situation the email will act like it sent in which they expect it will go out once a network connection is restored.  They then come to find the recipient never recieved it and that it does not show in sent email.  Its merely lost and they claim its also not in drafts.
    I would hope the expected behavior would be that it would either retry sending once network connectivity is restored or at least warn that it needs to be saved as a draft since no connection is present.

    It should show "X unsent messages" at the bottom of the mail app.
    It also should create an outbox where the unsent emails will queue up, but this could also vary on the email provider.
    Once you re connect to a network, it should just send the messages

  • Exchange email will not work when offline

    Anyone know when Apple will fix this issue?  Email will not work correctly unless connected to wireless.  This makes it impossible to be productive while flying.  This is exclusive to exchange servers as it woks on POP accounts.

    I know that.  When I work on my laptop I can file, reply, delete etc. and when I land it updates all the folders and sends and recevies all the mail.  the iPad will not let you file or delete emails unless connected.  This makes flying time completely unproductive.  If I have to have a laptop to do email why have an iPad???

  • Emails always are suck in outbox when sent through Apple mail

    Emails always are suck in outbox when sent through Apple mail. How should I deal with it ? Many thanks!

    As mentioned, Outlook is not email standards compliant. It probably never will be based on Microsoft's history. However, I think there are various issues involved in the problems people have. I often send emails from home to my Outlook account at work. I have never experienced any of the problems that I've seen posted anywhere regarding Mail and Outlook.
    My conclusion is that there are issues with certain Exchange Server configurations and/or issues with your own ISP mail server causing the issues.
    I do have my system set up to Always send windows friendly attachments (from what I've read, this really is 'send Outlook friendly attachments'), and always put attachments at the end. Prior to the 'always put attachments at the end,' I wasn't having any issues, either. However, I read that that setting helped with other email clients, so I use it.
    The obvious question is, "well, how is your exchange server configured." I would love to provide the answer to that question; however, I work for a DoD organization, so actually tracking down the person that knows the answer to that question will take somewhere between five years and never. With my 20+ years experience with the DoD, I'm leaning towards the never end of the spectrum. The other half of the equation is, "I'm using cox as my ISP."

    I am unable to create a 'new email message'when I connect to the bigpond.com webmail through the internet from my ipad2.

  • HT2480 Ipad mini - exchange email stopped working randomly  Error: "Cannot get mail. The connection to the server failed."

    I got an iPad mini over Christmas and have had no issues setting up/managing my email until yesterday. I've had my Exchange email working for almost a month, and yesterday I stopped getting emails and getting the error: "Cannot Get Mail. The connection to the server failed."
    I tried resetting the device (multiple times) and deleting and recreating the Exchange account (multiple times). This is getting annoying because it worked fine up until yesterday. I'm not aware of any updates to the device, or any changes that have occurred since yesterday.

    Due to a screen issue, I had my iPhone 5 replaced two days ago. I repeated deleted the mail account and kept adding it but this did not make any difference. When I attempted to setup the new phone with my Google (Gmail via exchange active sync) accounts I was receiving this same "Cannot Get Mail" error. From what I was able to gather, this problem should be affecting Gmail accounts set up via Exchange. When originally purchasing the phone I was assisted and directed to set up my Gmail account through Exchange because it had the ability to use "ActiveSync" and push not only mail and calendars, but all of my contacts as well. I found this article regarding the subject.
    http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,2817,2413283,00.asp
    What it came down to was having to delete my Gmail via Exchange account and separate it into two different accounts, a regular gmail account for my mail and a CardDAV account for my contacts.
    Here is what I did. Google is changing their system and for new registrars Exchange ActiveSync will not work so you will be unable to register your account via Exchange and have your mail, calenders, and contacts all pushed together. I find this change really annoying. If you are having problems accessing your contacts after deleting the mail account, like I was, here is the work around.
    To circumvent this issue go to Setting > Mail, Contacts, Calendars > Add Account > Other > Add CardDAV Account: Under server ender google.com, then your email user name and password, then click next to verify the information.
    I hope this helps.
