Exchange HubCas Memeory consumption Increasing

Hi All,
I have 2 Mbx servers and 1 hubcas server. All are running on Ex 2010 sp1.recently I noticed that my Hub cas server memory consumption is increasing week after week. Last week it was at 11 GB and this week it has grown to 12.2 Gb.Couple of months back
it was at 8 Gb.Real time monitor is constantly showing memory consumption at 12.2 G.My mail box have also grown Right now I have around 300 mail boxes. My question is that is this normal or do I have to look into it so that I can avoid any future downtime.
Thanks
EagleAsh

Hi,
Yes, it's normal.
In general, memory utilization on Client Access servers has a linear relationship with the number of client connections and the transaction rate.
With the increase in the number of mailboxes,
memory consumption will gradually grow. The feature requires a larger memory and processor configuration to manage the increased loads placed on the Client Access server role.
Hope this helps!
Thanks.

  • Exchange Server 2013: Database Increasing double

    Dear All,
I just migration from MS exchange server 2003 to MS Exchange Server 2013. I have problem with database size are increase double.
the old database size only 400GB in MS Exchange server 2003.
After migration to MS Exchange server 2013, the size are increase to 800GB of .edb.
    Any idea?
    [email protected]

    Hi,
From the description, you said you migrated from Exchange 2003 server to Exchange 2013.
Do you install Exchange 2013 in the same organization with Exchange 2003?
If it's the same organization, you need to migrate from Exchange 2003 to Exchange 2007/2010, then remove Exchange 2003, after that, migrate to Exchange 2013.
When you move a mailbox from a previous version of Exchange to Exchange 2013, the mailbox size reported may increase 30 percent to 40 percent. Disk space used by the mailbox database has not increased, only the attribution of space used by each mailbox has
    increased.
For this issue, I recommend you use the following command to check the database size and the white space.
Get-MailboxDatabase -status | fl name, databasesize, availablenewmailboxspace

  • Exchange upgraded. Speed increase request.

Hi ive noticed that our exchange has been upgraded to 21cn and would like a speed increase please. i was told this would be done automatically but this isnt the case. Ive contacted the mods also.

by the exchange has changed do you mean you are on a different exchange or the exchange has been upgraded since february?
just need to wait on mods contacting you - you may need to agree a new 12 month contract if you get upgraded now instead of waiting for the rollout

  • Power consumption increased with kernel 3.2.5

The new kernel 3.2.5 supposedly fixed the old power regression introduced in 2.6.39 (or so). On my T60 laptop (Core 2 Duo) not only that the power consumption stayed high, but the pcie_aspm=force option passed to the kernel is not working anymore. The result: my laptop consumes 20W on idle (I use KDE, kmail and firefox on with 2 tabs open). That's 25% more than what I had with the older 3.2.4 kernel and pcie_aspm=force enabled.
powertop2 does not show  anything unusual, the CPU is basically idle on the lowest available frequency 98% of the time (I'm using the ondemand governor).
Did you guys experience something similar or is it just me?

If you don't use Skype then I'd delete it.
PIM services is a bit high. I'd remove each of your accounts under Settings >Accounts. Then reboot the device. Monitor the PIM services battery drain for a while with no accounts added and see how it goes. Then add each account back, one at a time, and monitor for a couple hours to see the PIM services usage. It should be a bit high for the first hour while information syncs to the device then it should settle down. Once you're satisfied the account is working OK you can add the next account. Find the one that keeps the PIM services drainage high.
If the device doesn't show 4G, then what does it show?

  • Large Mail.que database in Exchange 2013

    [Background]
Since Exchange 2013 is released, some user may come across the following situations:
The space of disk C is used up.
The transport service stops processing messages.
    The Mailbox server is crash.
In this case, the issue can be resolved with checking with the mail.que file which is in the following path on the Mailbox server:
    C:\Program Files\Microsoft\Exchange Server\V15\TransportRoles\data\Queue
    [Symptom]
The Mail.que file on all Exchange 2013 servers grows very large and it’s even over 20 GB.
    [Cause]
    It’s a by design behavior.
Different from the previous Exchange server, Safety Net which has the same function with the Transport dumpster in Exchange 2013 takes up the volume of the mail.que file and
it’s the feature which is responsible for the large size of the mail.que in Exchange 2013.
And here is a reference about the feature Safety Net in Exchange 2013:
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/jj657495(v=exchg.150).aspx
    [Workarounds]
    1. Allocate large space for the Exchange 2013 installation or increase the volume for Exchange 2013.
These articles will also provide further detail of size calculating:

    2. Moved queue database to another drive by using
    Move-DatabasePath
    3. Reduce the SafetyNetHoldTime and MessageExpirationTimeouton values to one day (default values are 2 days). And these commands can be in use:
    Set-TransportConfig SafetyNetHoldTime 1.00:00:00
    Get-TransportService | Set-TransportService -MessageExpirationTimeout 1.00:00:00

  • Gain or loss due to foreign currency exchange rate in Travel Management

    Hi Experts,
I am facing some issues in foreign currency surrender in Travel Management.
    Example:-
An employee goes on a foreign trip in which he takes advance in USD. After returning from the trip, if any USD balance is there then he returns it to company. If the exchange rate falls or increased, then company books it as gain or loss to comany. How the same can be handled in Travel Expense Report. Below is an example of the same.
    USD
    Exchange Rate
    INR
    Advance taken
    550
    65
    35750
    Expenses claimed
    500
    65
    32500
    Difference
    50
    65
    3250
But Returned to company in less exchange rate
    50
    60
    3000
    Loss on Exchange
    250
    Regards,
    Daniel

    HI Sigi,
The problem is, during a International trip. While taking the advance, the exchange rate of USD is something & while returning or excess expenditure the exchange rate is different. Because the posting to be done in INR & the expenses are adjusted against the advance.
But when there is a change in the exchange rate then the whole advance is not adjusted. SO to adjust the same the balance amount to be adjusted as gain or loss to the company a/c.
    Regards,
    Daniel

  • Exchange 2010 to 2013 users migration

    Hi,
I am migrating users from Exchange 2010 to 2013 and facing a lot of migration issues. few of them are as follow.
    1. It hung up at "syncing" and end up with a failure.
    2. After a long migration i got the following errors
Error: MigrationPermanentExeception: Failed to reset the target mailbox after the move. Error Details:MaipExceptionADUnavailable: Unable to prepopulate the cache for user :: on domain controller xyz.domain.com (hr=0x80004005,ec=2414) Diagnosti Context: Lid:

Error details: Target mailbox connection was lost.
    3. users migration is taking a lot of time although mailbox size is not big and both servers are in same datacenter.
    Need urgent help pls....

    Hi,
Here are the general steps for troubleshooting mailbox moves:
    1. If the move request didn't complete, view the Move Request Statistics.
    2. If the move request completed with errors, view the move report.
    3. View the Event log on the Client Access server running the instance of the Microsoft Exchange Mailbox Replication service that's processing the failed move request.
    4. use the Exchange Management Console or the Exchange Management Shell to increase the diagnostic logging levels on the Client Access server for the Mailbox Move and Service categories of the MSExchange Mailbox Replication service.
For more detailed information about general steps for troubleshooting mailbox moves, you can refer to the article below:
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd638094(v=exchg.141).aspx
Additionally, in order to narrow down the cause, I’d like to confirm the following information:
    1. Are the problematic target mailboxes in the same database?
    2. Is there a time boundary? After that, you cannot move mailboxes:

  • How to Increase the size of mailbox

    Dear Sir,
Please help me to allocate space for exchange server 2010, or increase it.
    Regards, Ravi Kumar

    Hi,
The blog above explains very well.
To help you understand the Storage quotas of mailbox deeply, I recommend this blog.
    http://blogs.technet.com/b/exchange/archive/2006/09/20/3394913.aspx
And here are several scenarios in my experience.
If mailbox database settings are used as defaults, no matter what Storage quotas settings under Per-mailbox, Per-mailbox Storage quotas will use database Storage quotas settings.
If mailbox database settings are not used as defaults, and per-mailbox has Storage quotas settings. Then the valves settings under Per-mailbox Storage quotas will take effect.
If mailbox database settings are not used as defaults, and per-mailbox settings are not set, then per-mailbox Storage quotas will have an unlimited size.
Hope this information will be helpful for you.
    Best Regards.

  • Exchange Adapter Create Mailbox polling interval?

As part of the Exchange Adapter functionality it checks AD to see if the Exchange attributes are set on the AD user. Depending on your AD configuration it can take some time for those attributes to get populated on all DCs. The behavior of the adapter is to repeatly check for those attributes being set until it hits some timeout threshold. That threshold is configured via the RMTimeOut code of Parameters.Exchange. I can increase RMTimeOut to a huge number so that eventually it will see the Ad attributes. But I would really prefer to set a number of times to check and\or an interval to check. In it's current implementation it keeps thrashing against AD repeatedly checking, without a break, until it hits that TimeOut threshold and that seem LTD. Any insight is appreciated.

No fix - I just increased the time to something huge. But the latest Exchange adapter 9.1.1 says its changed how RMTimeOut is handled and maybe that will resolve the issue.
Unfortunately you have to be on the latest rev of OIM to use the the latest Exchange connector, I'm not & an OIM upgrade is not an option at this time.

  • Exchange synchronisation with Address book

    Hi all,
I am trying to get the synchronisation working between Address book and my Exchange server. I have managed to get the address book to talk to my correct exchange server (https://domain/exchange/userid), and can verify that it is actually sending http packets to my server (I used TCPDUMP to verify that it was hitting my server with packets whenever I hit Sync now in isync).
However, the very brief conversion between the exchange server and the sync process would indicate that something is awry with the process. (since it isn't syncing).
I was wondering if there is any way of turning on debugging in the exchange sync process to increase the verbosity in the system.log to work out what problem is happening (like bogus password, or my self signed exchange ssl certificate being unaccepted etc etc).
    The only messages I am getting in system.log is "....... Translator[2323]: Invoked to sync conduit com.apple.ExchangeConduit for entityNames: com.apple.contacts.Contact,com.apple.contacts.Email Address,com.apple.contacts.Phone Number,com.apple.contacts.Street Address,com.apple.contacts.URL

  • Mail.app leaks memory

Mail.app is allocating memory until it can't find anything left. Within 15 minutes after startup it already used 415MB. Keep it running a little longer and it will grow to 1.4GB and my Mac stalls, because I also have a VMWare running and I only have 3GB.
I already filed a bug, but I didn't hear from it yet. Anyone having the same experience?

So I seem to be consistently having the memory consumption increase with Mail too. I have restarted numerous time, all to no avail.
I have the frequency of the check for email set to "Every minute"; not sure if this has to do with it. My mail account is connecting to a Microsoft Exchange Server.
iCal also freaked out on my this morning--the memory usage reached 1.25GB of RAM--it has since gotten back in line after a restart. It is now holding steady at 46MB.
    Any other suggestions out that?
Any official word on this? I'm willing to provide diagnostic data/log if any Apple folks are interested.
    Thanks.

  • SA520W - High memory usage, possible fix in 2.2.0 firmware?

As suggested by Thomas Watts, I'm starting a new thread to discuss the new SA520W firmware (2.2.0) and a possible resolution to high memory usage I'm experiencing on my network.
My current setup is: 16Mbit DSL > SA520W > SA300-10, all with stock settings (no fancy VLAN's etc.)
I have 4 CentOS 5/6 servers and a Windows 7 Ultimate station connected to the switch. I use CIFS to connect from Windows station to the other Linux servers and send large files. I currently notice the following behavior:
When the file transfer starts, the Intel 1Gbit NIC is nearly saturated, hitting 115MB/sec. After few seconds, the data transfer comes to a halt and the transfer speed drops to around 50MB/sec. If I check the memory usage before the file transfer, it is approximately to 50-60% (on a fresh router reboot). Every time I send large files to other machines, the router memory consumption increases and it does not lower after a reasonable delay. I end-up with high memory near 90% and the only solution I have is to reboot the router in order to bring it back to 50%.
Now, Thomas told me that this is simply a cosmetic issue, the memory is not actually 90% used. Yet, when the memory hits this threshold, I'm not capable to send files are normal LAN speeds I'm used to. Rebooting the router allows me to send only ONCE (and for few seconds) data at the expected LAN speeds.
I would apreciate any input from Cisco engineers as well other users who experience the same issue. I would also like to know if any related work was done into 2.2.0 firmware and when we expect to have it released to users.
    Regards,
    Floren Munteanu

    Hi Tom,
    See below the answers.
Are you currently running the 2.1.71 code?
    Yes
    Are you using IPS?
No, the LAN is for internal use (no external users allowed)
    Are you using Protectlink services?
    No
Hardware wise, I did not changed anything on machines. All boxes have dual Intel EXPI9301CT NIC's (LACP was planned) but I currently use single connections for sanity reasons (disks won't allow greater speeds anyway). Previous to Cisco, I used a Netgear ProSafe router + switch which did not encountered the issues I mention. Honestly, at first I thought I'm dealing with some stupid disk issues on Windows. So I ran a quick test and the stats are proper:
    > winsat disk -drive c
    > Disk  Sequential 64.0 Read                   109.62 MB/s        6.5
    > Disk  Random 16.0 Read                       2.47 MB/s          4.4
    > Responsiveness: Average IO Rate              2.12 ms/IO         6.9
    > Responsiveness: Grouped IOs                  8.34 units         7.4
    > Responsiveness: Long IOs                     5.59 units         7.7
    > Responsiveness: Overall                      46.63 units        7.1
    > Responsiveness: PenaltyFactor                0.0
    > Disk  Sequential 64.0 Write                  117.03 MB/s        6.7
    > Average Read Time with Sequential Writes     6.977 ms           5.3
    > Latency: 95th Percentile                     32.720 ms          3.0
    > Latency: Maximum                             118.231 ms         7.6
    > Average Read Time with Random Writes         13.346 ms          3.7
    > Total Run Time 00:01:39.50
As I mentioned before, everything is pretty much stock on router/switch settings. If you have any tips that allow me to identify the cause, I would appreciate the input. What puzzles me is the speed drop and quick memory usage increase. It occurs 7-10 seconds after the transfers begins. It looks like the data transfer hangs for a very short period of time (less than half of second) and the transfer speed decreases from 110-115MB/sec to 50-60MB/sec. The transfer is completed at this speed. No matter how many other files I try to transfer after, the speed won't go higher than 60MB/sec. If I reboot the router, I get the same cycle.

  • External memory allocation and management using C / LabVIEW 8.20 poor scalability

    Hi,
I have multiple C functions that I need to interface. I need
to support numeric scalars, strings and booleans and 1-4 dimensional
arrays of these. The programming problem I try to avoid is that I have
multiple different functions in my DLLs that all take as an input or
return all these datatypes. Now I can create a polymorphic interface
for all these functions, but I end-up having about 100 interface VIs
for each of my C function. This was still somehow acceptable in LabVIEW
8.0 but in LabVIEW 8.2 all these polymorphic VIs in my LVOOP project
gets read into memory at project open. So I have close to 1000 VIs read into memory when ever I open my project. It takes now about ten minutes to
open the project and some 150 MB of memory is consumed instantly. I
still need to expand my C interface library and LabVIEW doesn't simply
scale up to meet the needs of my project anymore.
    I now
reserve my LabVIEW datatypes using DSNewHandle and DSNewPtr functions.
I then initialize the allocated memory blocks correctly and return the
handles to LabVIEW. LabVIEW complier interprets Call Library Function
Node terminals of my memory block as a specific data type.
    So
what I thought was following. I don't want LabVIEW compiler to
interpret the data type at compile time. What I want to do is to return
a handle to the memory structure together with some metadata describing
the data type. Then all of my many functions would return this kind of
handle. Let's call this a data handle. Then I can later convert this
handle into a real datatype either by typecasting it somehow or by
passing it back to C code and expecting a certain type as a return.
This way I can reduce the number of needed interface VIs close to 100
which is still acceptable (i.e. LabVIEW 8.2 doesn't freeze).
    So
I practically need a similar functionality as variant has. I cannot use
variants, since I need to avoid making memory copies and when I convert
to and from variant, my memory consumption increases to three fold. I
handle arrays that consume almos all available memory and I cannot
accept that memory is consumed ineffectively.
    The question is,
can I use DSNewPtr and DSNewHandle functions to reserve a memory block
but not to return a LabVIEW structure of that size. Does LabVIEW
carbage collection automatically decide to dispose my block if I don't
correctly return it from my C immediately but only later at next call
to C code. Can I typecast a 1D U8 array to array of any dimensionality and any numeric data type without memory copy (i.e. does typecast work the way it works in C)?
If I cannot find a solution with this LabVIEW 8.20 scalability issue, I have to really consider transferring our project from LabVIEW to some other development environent like C++ or some of the .NET languages.
    Regards,
    Tomi
    Tomi Maila

I have to answer to myself since nobody else has yet answered me. I came up with one solution that relies on LabVIEW queues. Queues of different type are all referred the same way and can also be typecased from one type to another. This means that one can use single element queues as a kind of variant data type, which is quite safe. However, one copy of the data is made when you enqueue and dequeue the data.
See the attached image for details.

  • Memory leak in Flash with Win7, IE9, 64bit

I have been having an issue for quite some time on 2 different computers. Both of them are Windows 7 64bit and use IE9.
Generally I have 1 - 5 tabs open in IE at any given time. Usually one of them is a tab for Yahoo Mail. Other tabs are related to whatever I may be searching for or doing at that time, so pretty varied. Throughout the day at random times I will begin to get a grey icon for anywhere on some tabs where there is supposed to be a flash video (like the ad in the right side of the Yahoo Mail tab)... When it happens I can open Task Manager in windows and I notice that 1 or two "iexplore.exe *32" processes have memory consumed in excess of 600,000K. When I end those processes I am again able to see any flash videos that need to be viewed.
If I leave Task Manager open throughout the day I can see the memory consumption increase on various tabs until I cannot see any more flash videos or even open new tabs in IE until I end those processes. Further, the memory does not get released if I just close the tabs in IE, but I must either end the specific process or close all tabs in IE so that IE is completely unloaded.
I have since uninstalled the Flash player and the issue has gone away. I can re-install the flash player and the issue returns. Can you please help? This has been a huge annoyance and I had hoped that it would be fixed sooner or later. Unfortunately it has not been fixed and has finally prompted me to post something....

First, I just wanted to follow up on this thread and let you guys know that we'll continue to look into it.  I also want to clarify some player behavior, and provide tips for helping to identify a defect that we can take action on.
Whenever you refresh/reload a tab, the browser should signal to us that our process is being destroyed, at which point we would release all of our resources and shut down.  SergeStone's comment above makes it sound like this might not be happening in a particular case.  I'm going to build out a few tests this week to explore this in more detail, and I'll follow up with results.
Also, it's worth discussing the difference between memory consumption and memory leaks.  Flash Player is designed to consume a percentage of your available memory.  If you have a 32-bit machine with 2GB of RAM, we're going to consume a lot less memory than a 64-bit system with 16GB of RAM.
Not all Flash content is authored well.  If the ActionScript developer is continuously loading objects into their SWF and never releasing them (a slide-show is a good simplistic example), you'll see a steady usage increase as each new object loads in.  You should also see that evenutally, our automatic Garbage Collection process will kick in.  Memory will peak out, and then you'll see a short CPU spike as we look at all of the available objects and cull as many unused ones as possible, consumed memory will dip down significantly (as long as we can cull stuff), and then start growing again until the next time GC kicks in.  We tend to do this judiciously, as poorly-timed GC can cause games to stutter if it happens when lots of things are moving around on the display and you don't have a lot of available CPU.
If it's our bug, it should be straightforward to fix, and I can follow up to this thread with a beta build for you guys to evaluate once we have one available.  In the meantime, it would be interesting to know if you're seeing the problem on our current Beta builds (which is where we would do the work).
Here's a link to the latest Beta download:

Also, the simplest example is the most actionable.  If you can find a situation where a site in a single tab reproduces the problem, that's a quick and easy thing to deal with.  If the repro case involves opening seven tabs and waiting six hours, someone needs to repeat that over and over, until they can isolate what content experiences the problem and then iterate a bunch more with a debugger attached to try and isolate the root cause.  The more complicated the content, the more difficult that is.
Secondly, I wanted to offer some actionable suggestions that you could use now to work around this issue.
Try Firefox or Chrome.  Both of these browsers run Flash Player as a separate process.
For those of you using Performance Monitor and other tools to measure, you can directly observe the resources used by Flash Player
For the folks concerned about Bookmarks synchronization, both Firefox and Chrome provide native bookmark syncing and import from IE mechanisms.
Xmarks is a really nice, free utility that provides cross-browser, cross-platform bookmark synchronization.
    Thanks,
    Jeromie Clark
