Exchange in iCal

Is it possible to view my (pushed) Exchange calendar in iCal? I don't have Entourage configured on my local machine.
(This may be posted in the wrong forum ...)

Yeah, I have the same question
Today I added my exchange server to Mac Mail and it synced everything (2GB). This includes all the folders on my account, which means also one called calendar.
However Mail is not able to interpret the data inside. It appears as mails having a .ics file as an attachment. Isn't there a script out there that could add those files to ical? As far as I can see the appointments are correct.

  • How can I sync both Outlook (through Exchange) and iCal with my iPhone???

I recently added my Outlook account via MS Exchange to my iPhone to access my email and outlook calendar. At this time I could still sync iCal as well, and I could chose to view either one, or both calendars at the same time, on my iphone. Then for some reason, about a week later I could only see my outlook calendar on my iPhone.
Now when I try and sync my iCal again, it doesn't even come up as an option in iTunes. I can turn stop pushing the data for Outlook on my phone and sync with iCal again, but then I loose all of my Outlook appointments. It seems now that I can only have one or the other!

If you are accessing an Exchange account via ActiveSync or a MobileMe account with over the air syncing enabled for contact info and calendar events, you can't sync contact info and calendar events direct with a supported application on a computer via the iTunes sync process. You can do one or the other, not both at the same time.
You can sync your business Exchange contact info and calendar events over the air and personal contact info and calendar events over the air with a MobileMe account at the same time. You can view contact info and calendar events combined with both, or view contact info and calendar events with each separately.

  • Exchang, Mail, Ical - strange sync problem

    Hi
I have a very strange problem... i guess.
After installing Snow Leopard both on my MacBook Pro and my Imac I've set up Exchange 2007.
It all works just fine on the MB, both mail and calendar. Downloading mails and syncing my calendar events. I can also subscribe to my co-workers calendars, all good.
However, on the Imac it's downloading my mail, and syncs with my calendar, but I cant subscribe to my co-workers calendars, and I can't find any differences in the setup in Ical. It wont even show which calendars that's available...
Is there anybody who had similar problems? :o/
    Kind Regards, Michel

Here is what I would do, as a test.
    1) Check to see if you selected within iCal's preference the "Show Birthdays calendar" option. If so, close the preferences window, select the Birthdays calendar and Export to your drive (Desktop) for backup. Then return to iCal preference and uncheck the Birthdays calendar option.
    2) Create a new calendar named Test (or whatever you choose other than Birthdays). Create a bogus all-day event for the new calendar like you would have for someone's birthday in the Birthdays calendar, and place it on a day that you have one of your appointments.
    3) Sync to your phone and see the results. If the events show up correctly on your phone, then return to iCal and change your new calendar's name to Birthdays, create another all-day event on the day of a current appointment and again sync with your phone.
    4) If this too is correct on your phone after synching, then the culprit would be the iCal's Birthdays setting. I would then leave this option off and then import the backup export I made in step 1 into my new Birthdays calendar.
    5) Once again sync w/ the phone to see if the issue is gone. If so, you have your workaround.
If not, or if during any of the other steps the issue arose, I would say the problem lies within your Nokia or maybe even another calendar. That be the case, somewhat repeat the steps above in creating a new calendar, exporting the "bad" calendar, test a new entry in the new calendar to sync w/ your phone, and if successful, import the "bad" calendar's data into your new calendar to see if that is successful.
A bit of work, but it just might resolve your issue. Good luck and I look forward to seeing if it works.

  • Entourage (Exchange) to iCal iPhone calendar time shift making my head hurt

I use Entourage on an Exchange server for my calendar. I create all events there, not on the iPhone.
Yesterday I noticed I received an invitation to a meeting that started at 8 a.m. in Entourage. The pop-up blue push notification on my iPhone said it started at 3 p.m.
In Mail, Contacts, Calendars my husband found the Time Zone Support and turned it off, which seemed to fix it.
Today I was looking for an event on Dec. 31 on my iPhone, and it was not there. I looked in Entourage and it was where expected. I deleted it in Entourage and re-added, it still did not show up on the iPhone.
I turned off calendars and deleted them on the iPhone, then re-enabled and the event was still not there.
I also noticed that an event on Dec. 25 from 3 p.m.-5:30 p.m. incorrectly shows as ending a day later at 5:30 p.m. on the iPhone.
I turned Time Zone Support back on and set it to my time zone, and found my Dec. 31 event on Jan. 1 on the iPhone. In the Month view it shows as starting at 7 p.m., which is correct. If I click the event to view details, it says Jan. 1 from 2:30 a.m.
I created a test event in Entourage Dec. 28 at 3 p.m. On the iPhone in month view it shows up Dec. 28 at 3 p.m., but if I click the event to view details it says the event starts at 10 p.m. Dec. 28.
Does anyone know how I can fix this time warp??

With Time Zone Support off on the iPhone, new events I add via Entourage are showing up one day late in the month view on the iPhone.

  • In iCal, "Available Meeting Times" greys out working hours one day off, MS Exchange

I am using iCal, accessing an MS Exchange server. When setting up a meeting, "Available Meeting Times" greys out the non-working hours of potential meeting participants. However, the days are one day off. E.g. the working hours of my collegues are displayed are Tuesday-Sunday instead of Monday-Friday. The dates and times of meetings are relayed correctly. Only the display of the working hours seems to be off.
Needless to say that my collegues are using Windows Outlook, and everything works there.

I still have the same issue. Had it ever since at least 2010 and meanwhile we switched Exchange-Servers and I'm on Mavericks, but still. Looks to me as if iCal requests something like "getWorkDays" from teh Server. The Server probably replies [2,3,4,5,6]. When the week starts on Sunday, this is perfectly fine. But if the Week starts on Monday, this will give you Tue-Sat as available Days. So it might be a bug in either Exchange or iCal to treat that information correctly, but I'm not obv. not sure about that.

  • Publish Exchange calendar from iCal

I've gotten my Exchange calendar to work with iCal nicely using 10.6. This is great. But:
Is there a way to publish an Exchange calendar that is in iCal? The "Publish" option is grayed out for my Exchange calendars.
I can publish other calendars just fine (after forcing iCal to work in 32 bit mode).
Note that I am not talking about syncing to MobileMe. I know that this is not supported. However, I expected that I could "publish" to a web server, such as the one hosted by MobileMe.
For a while now, I've done this by using Entourage to sync Exchange to iCal. The Entourage calendar can be published to the web. I was really hoping that with 10.6 I could finally stop using Entourage.

I'm having a similar issue. My boss has set up a calendar in exchange that is synced with my iCal, and the appointments do appear, however my personal calendar from exchange is not showing any of my appointments... any ideas?

  • Microsoft Exchange shared calendars through iCal on iPad or Mac

This is surely not an original question, but -
My company uses Microsoft Exchange.  I have synced it to my iPad for calendar, contacts, and email, and it works very well.
We also use shared calendars, and I utilize this feature often via Outlook on my PC.  However ...
    1.  I'd like to be able to view MS Exchange shared calendars on iCal on my iPad.  Is this possible?  Obviously, no one will grant me permission to view their contacts or emails, but calendar-only is what we share.  Is this possible?
    2.  Is it possible to view MS Exchange shared calendars through iCal on a Mac?  I have a colleague who has an iMac with iCal synced to Exchange and it works great.  However, we do not know how to view shared calendars (from MS Exchange) through iCal.  Again, we want to share calendars-only - no email or contacts.  Can anyone help with this?
    THANKS SO MUCH FOR HELP.

  • Exchange permissions for calendars and other resources for iCal viewing...

I am trying to track down how one is to set their calendar resource permissions in Exchange to successfully allow another Exchange based iCal user to "VIEW" their calendar (as a delegate). I am also trying to determine if this permission should be the same or different for other resources (rooms, etc.)
    Right now
    - I am able to view person's calendars that have explicitly set permission to a group/person for "Reviewer"
    - I am unable to view a person's calendar who has set the "Default" user's permission to "Reviewer" (One would think that "Default" would be a greater catchall.
-I am unable to view resource (room, etc) calendars with the default permissions. Am currently investigating with our Exchange Administrators what the permissions are at default.

Yes, it is possible. Prior to v3.0, one needed to choose over-the-air vs. iTunes syncing of contacts/calendars. Then, it was still possible to have both personal and Exchange data, but the personal data had to come from MobileMe. Currently, it's possible to have an Exchange account on the iPhone and also to sync personal contacts/calendars via iTunes; multiple email accounts including an Exchange account have been possible since v2.0.
FYI, I currently have an Exchange account, and I sync my personal contacts/calendars via iTunes from my Mac.

  • ICal / Exchange / iOS-Cal sync creates multiple events and multiple problem

    Hi,
I got an iPod Touch for Xmas, so I've rejigged all my iCal calendars to sync via the Enterprise Exchange server at my works. I have three calendars, one for my work appointments, one for my personal appointments and one for other appointments and events.
I expected to get some weirdness from previous iCal experience, but I've found an odd set of behaviours.
Some all-day events become midnight to midnight events on the iPod only.
    Some events became duplicated.
Many of these duplicated events do not appear on the iPod, only in Exchange and iCal on OSX.
If I change an event on iOS4 Cal.app, say the free/busy information or a deletion, the event changes as expected on Exchange (as seen via Outlook Web Access etc).
If I change an event on iCal on OSX, the event duplicates itself on Exchange, but not on the iPod.
If I delete a duplicate event (in any exchange synced calendar) on iCal on OSX, the event reappears a few minutes later or on refreshing. If I delete a duplicate event Cal.app on iOS, it stays deleted.
Has anyone else experienced this kind of thing? I've seen some notes about duplications via MobileMe, but I don't have that feature. Is there a different method of referring to Exchange events used in iCal on OSX and Cal.app on iOS?
Also, when I moved my third calendar to Exchange, it made all the events "Show as Busy". Does anyone know a way of programmatically (e.g. Applescript) setting all those to "Free"? I can't seem to find an event property that matches the value given in "Show As..." when you view the event.

Jeeze, I'm try to sort this out as well. Some iCal Events (but not all), are duplicating within iCal on the MAC. The Mobileme Calendar and the iPhone Calendar seem okay (no Dups).
Could this be a simple matter of turning off (unchecking), the calendar boxes for the Calendars "ON MY MAC" and also minimizing that Directory Tree and leaving on and expanded the [email protected] Directory Tree with Calendar Boxes checked ?
Done that way, MobileMe and the iPhone are being updated.
Having said that, the obvious conclusion is that any New Event entered into a Calendar within the "ON MY MAC" directory tree is not going to be synced with MobileMe nor the iPhone and is a waste of time.
Furthermore, Any New Event entered into a calendar on the iPhone will be synced with its coressponding Calendar in MOBILME, and it's Directory tree in iCal on the MAC - But Not the "ON MY MAC" Directory tree - That never gets synced. Am I right or am I going crazy.

  • Entourage, iCal, Exchange Server, public and private calendar items, PDA

    Hello all.
I'm a recent escapee from Windows to MacOS, and I need your help to complete my switchover. I've got a complex calendaring situation I'd like to solve.
I have a new Mac at work and one at home. At work I need to connect to Microsoft Exchange Server public calendar so I can set up appointments with others and they can see my calendar. But, I don't want private appointments to show up to others on the public exchange server calendar. In my calendaring app I do want to see one unified calendar on my machine at work and at home with both public and private appointments.
Also I want to get a PDA that will deal with both public and private appointments, and synchronize appropriately to both work and home calendaring apps. This should also show one unified calendar with all appointments.
Is there a right combo of software and PDA to accomplish this? My investigation so far points to Entourage at work (to work properly with Exchange Server), iCal or Entourage at home, and a PalmOS-based PDA. But I am unclear how the public-private stuff would work.
The final part of this once I figure out the right software and PDA combo, is to import all my calendar stuff, emails and contacts from Microsoft Outlook on my Windows box to my Mac at home. I think Outlook2Mac does this but I'm not sure which calendaring apps it works with.
Please let me know your thoughts. I'm an experienced Windows user brand new to MacOS so please keep that if you answer.

  • ICal: Changing the assigned calendar of an event sends out a new invite to all participants

    iCal version 5.0.3:
I have multiple accounts set up (iCloud, shared, Exchange) in iCal.
I've noticed that when I receive an invite that is assigned to the wrong calendar (e.g. to my icloud calendar) and I then change the assigned calendar to the Exchange calendar, iCal actually sends an invite to all the attendees with me as the organizer of the event!
Instead of just changing the assigned calendar in my iCal, it creates a new invite on the new calendar from me to all the invitees.
This seems to be new behaviour (bug) in version 5, as I can't remember this happening in earlier versions. It stopped being funny when it just did this with a company-wide HR event to all employees
My default calendar is set to the Exchange account, but iCal seems to ignore that ever so often when adding new invites
Any ideas on how to prevent this, or do i have to wait for an update to iCal?

    Hi Chris,
    Welcome to Apple Discussions.
I often do the same thing (ie create an event in the wrong calendar). Are you aware that the assigned calendar appears in the info pane. You could simply select the correct calendar there, even reassign events.
I understand the desire to do this with Quickeys, though I suspect very few people here use Quickeys. So if you don't get an answer here I'd suggest you consider the Quickeys forum: http://forum.cesoft.com/

  • Ical bug/spurious error

iCal gives me an error about having been invited to a meeting using an email address that is not in my address book entry (not true!) when I attempt to import (by clicking on the .ics file attachment in Mail.app) them to my calendar.
    Specifically teh dialog box says:
"There was a problem receiving this event invitation
Someone invited you to an event using an emaila ddress that isn't on your "me" card in Address Book. Find your email address in teh following list and add it to your card in Address Book
    [cancel][clear notification][open address book]
ie. no list of email addresses to find.
However, I've just found that the offending line in the .ics file is nothing to do with email address, it's this one:
    RECURRENCE-ID;TZID="GMT -0000 (Standard) / GMT +0100 (Daylight)":20070313T1 10000
take it out and the event goes in fine, leave it in and you get the error above which is totally spurious.
    please fix, Apple!

    Hi,
This is a problem with receiveing modifications to meeting invites from Outlook/Exchange users. iCal does not understand the format that the timezone info is presented as. This (for some strange reason) results in this error.
I'm working on a bridging utility that fixes this (along with other issues). See http://www.nhoj.co.uk/youreinvited.
To report a bug to Apple go to http://bugreport.apple.com. You will need an Apple Developer Membership (there is a free online option), see http://connect.apple.com.

  • Inbound Exchange Updates Issue

My wife uses iCal (Snow Leopard) and MobileMe to her iPhone (iOS4) to manage her business calendar.  She often gets meeting invites froma client that is using Outlook/Exchange.  The initial meeting comes into her iCal (albeit to a strange calendar) but then, if the sender updates the meeting, the update doesn't get reflected in the original invitation.
I have looked at all the settings and can't find anything amiss.  Is this just an incompatability between Exchange and iCal or am I missing something?
    Thanks.
    David

A little more clarification on this issue.  When the original calendar event comes into iCal, it goes to a calendar called Mail To Dos under the On Mac Mac section of the sidebar.  All of the other calendars are listed under:
    [email protected]
I can't transfer the incoming calendar event to any of the other calendars and I know that when I accept the appointment the sender gets a confirmation but on my end it doesn't look like I have accepted it.
The email he sends the invitationms to is a gmail address.  She doesn't want to have any more email addresses but would a me.com address solve this problem?
    Any thoughts?

  • Exchange delegate names changing to email address.

I have four Delegates configured in my iCal(v. 4.0.4) app and the names shown for each will change to my email address at random times. So far I haven't been able to make heads or tails of it. Basically, their calendar is intact and completely visible in my iCal, but their name changes to my email address at random times. I can click on the name and type their name back in, but this problem happens on a daily basis. Any ideas? My iCal app is configured to access our Exchange 2010 server here on campus. I've tried deleting all iCal and Mail preferences from my local hard drive and resetting them up again. The only way to fix it is to remove the delegate from the iCal Accounts->Delegation window and re-add them. This pulls their correct name from the Exchange server, but it doesn't seem to stick around for too long. After a while, the name just randomly changes to my email address.

I get exactly the same issues ( renaming delegate account, randomly, to my email address - can rename in delegates list, or delete and re-add to fix it, but it always changes again at some point)
Strangely, though, this has only started since our work email has changed from one exchange service provider to a new one. Both exchange servers are using Exchange 2007 setups, but in the old one, I never got this problem, with the new one, I get it all the time - so I'm beginning to think there's an exchange configuration / iCal interaction going on.
Anyone come up with a solution yet?

I sync Exchange - Entourage - iCal from my laptop to MobileMe to my iPad. My MobileMe calendar is absolutely accurate and syncing fine with my iCal, which generally reflects what is in Entourage. I have turned off calendar syncing and turned it back on several times and finally deleted the entire MobileMe account form the iPad and set it up again. Everything syncs except the calendar, with the default 'calendar." The little wheel never spins indicating there is any attempt to sync. Any help would be appreciated. JIm
