Exchange iOS calendar sync 4 cancellations & accepted meetings

Using corporate Exchange 2010 servers for calendar and email me and my co-workers experience the following annoyance.
When a meeting in outlook is cancelled and this is accepted using the windows client, the cancelled meeting is still shown in de ios calendar. It is noted cancelled using strikethrough, but it still clutters my calendar. As my calendar is a battlefield these cancellations make it hard to see which meetings I do have... How can I change this behaviour?
Similarly for accepted meetings, these (with cancellations aswell) remain unprocessed in my ios calendar tray while I allready accepted or rejected the invitations using outlook in windows.
I'm referring to ios because I have this problem with both my iPhone (4S on ios5, no iCloud sync for calendar) and iPad (2 on ios5, no iCloud sync for calendar).
Result: cancelled meetings have to be removed manually on iphone en ipad, invitations in outlook have to be processed three times (pc, iphone, ipad).
My questions: is this behaviour recognized? (i.e. is our Exchange setup different or is this a general problem).
Any tips/hints how to solve these bugs? or should I try to accept them as features...
Thx!
Mike

Having same issue with following equipment:  PC (standard corp issue laptop), BB (Blackberry phone), Tablet (Blackberry Playbook tablet)
Here are the steps:
Send out 3 meeting invites
The emails shows up on all 3 devices, PC, BB, Tablet
Before you open the email and accept/tentative/decline that invite...all 3 devices show the 3 "unaccepted" meetings on the calendar
Then accept meeting invite #1 on the PC, accept meeting #2 on the BB, and accept meeting #3 on the Tablet
After the acceptance all 3 meetings they show up fine in the calendars on the PC and BB...no problem here.
But only meeting number 3 which was accepted on the Tablet shows on the Tablet
The problem is that the other 2 meetings which were on the Tablet before being accepted, are removed when accepted.

  • Rid calendar Inbox of accepted meetings

I use MS Exchange (Outlook) at work.  It is synched to my iphone calendar.  I have an iphone 6 with IOS 8.1.3.
When I send a meeting invite from Outlook that includes a conference room, the Acceptance response from the meeting room goes to my iphone calendar Inbox as a new message.  So, I think i have a new meeting request, but when I open the Inbox it's just a message saying the conference room accepted my meeting.  No other invites that accept that meeting go to my iphone calendar Inbox.
I'd rather not see this, since I also get an email indicating the acceptance.  I don't know what's special about a meeting room where these go to my Inbox.  This did not occur on my iphone4.
Any way to configure the calendar so just new meeting requests go to the Inbox?

The only way to prevent those notifications would be for your system admin to turn them off on exchange. Individual users can accept a request without responding; a resource mailbox cannot make that decision on its own.

  • ITunes 11 iOS 8 sync cancelling

i have thousands of books to sync to my mini which I use only as a reader. SSuddenly since upgrading to iOS 8 using iTunes 11 on my pic, the sync cancels randomly. Yes, randomly. It now takes a week to get all my books across to my mini.
whats up with this? Any idea how I can resolve the problem please?

I am having a similar issue.  Since upgrading to iOS 8 and iTunes 11.4 - wifi sync is very unstable.  Devices may or may not show up in iTunes - or they show up and then disappear.  Additionally the wifi sync (when it works) seems to get hung up syncing apps.  Turning all devices off and on again - seems to improve things - but then the problems begin again shortly afterward.  For me this is happening with an iPhone 5 and an iPad 2 - syncing to a late 2012 27" iMac.  I won't have an iPhone 6 for a few more weeks.
In the past - wifi sync "sort of worked" - and it was never fully stable - but it seems much less stable with iOS 8.  The iMac has always been "wired" and wifi is rarely turned on on the iMac.  The behavior is the same whether the iMac is on Wifi, Wired - or both.
Also I have never quite been able to get Wifi sync to wake the Mac when it is sleeping.  It will actually wake the iMac - but it never seems to be able to start the sync and the iMac goes back to sleep.  This has always been the case - however - on iOS 7 and prior versions of iTunes - the Mac would occasionally wake up and actually perform the sync.  With iOS 8 - it wakes - but goes nowhere.  I do have a time capsule on my network and it is handling the sleep proxy requirement for waking the iMac.  Interesting - the remote app on the iPhone/iPad - wakes the iMac and works flawlessly.  Screen sharing and file sharing also wake the iMac and both work flawlessly.  I can also reproduce the same behavior if I move my iTunes library to my Mid 2010 15" MacBook Pro - so the issue is definitely iOS 8 and iTunes 11.4.
I have several Macs still under apple care - and I may just call Apple support to see what they say about this.  I will report back what I find.

  • ICal / Exchange / iOS-Cal sync creates multiple events and multiple problem

    Hi,
I got an iPod Touch for Xmas, so I've rejigged all my iCal calendars to sync via the Enterprise Exchange server at my works. I have three calendars, one for my work appointments, one for my personal appointments and one for other appointments and events.
I expected to get some weirdness from previous iCal experience, but I've found an odd set of behaviours.
Some all-day events become midnight to midnight events on the iPod only.
    Some events became duplicated.
Many of these duplicated events do not appear on the iPod, only in Exchange and iCal on OSX.
If I change an event on iOS4 Cal.app, say the free/busy information or a deletion, the event changes as expected on Exchange (as seen via Outlook Web Access etc).
If I change an event on iCal on OSX, the event duplicates itself on Exchange, but not on the iPod.
If I delete a duplicate event (in any exchange synced calendar) on iCal on OSX, the event reappears a few minutes later or on refreshing. If I delete a duplicate event Cal.app on iOS, it stays deleted.
Has anyone else experienced this kind of thing? I've seen some notes about duplications via MobileMe, but I don't have that feature. Is there a different method of referring to Exchange events used in iCal on OSX and Cal.app on iOS?
Also, when I moved my third calendar to Exchange, it made all the events "Show as Busy". Does anyone know a way of programmatically (e.g. Applescript) setting all those to "Free"? I can't seem to find an event property that matches the value given in "Show As..." when you view the event.

Jeeze, I'm try to sort this out as well. Some iCal Events (but not all), are duplicating within iCal on the MAC. The Mobileme Calendar and the iPhone Calendar seem okay (no Dups).
Could this be a simple matter of turning off (unchecking), the calendar boxes for the Calendars "ON MY MAC" and also minimizing that Directory Tree and leaving on and expanded the [email protected] Directory Tree with Calendar Boxes checked ?
Done that way, MobileMe and the iPhone are being updated.
Having said that, the obvious conclusion is that any New Event entered into a Calendar within the "ON MY MAC" directory tree is not going to be synced with MobileMe nor the iPhone and is a waste of time.
Furthermore, Any New Event entered into a calendar on the iPhone will be synced with its coressponding Calendar in MOBILME, and it's Directory tree in iCal on the MAC - But Not the "ON MY MAC" Directory tree - That never gets synced. Am I right or am I going crazy.

  • ICal on Mac & iOS calendar sync Sync name of calendars

I have changed the names of some calendars on the Mac , but the names of the calendars on iOS devices are not changed (sync.-ed)
Why & what shall I do?

Make sure you're logged into the same iCloud account on both devices. Sometimes changes like that take some time to sync across devices.

  • Longstanding Exchange Calendar Sync Bug Persists in iOS 7 / 7.0.2

For those who sync their iPhone / iPad / iPod touch to a Microsoft Exchange e-mail environment, you may be aware that there's a longstanding Exchange Calendar Sync bug (affecting iOS 4.x - 6.1.3).  An otherwise functional iDevice may suddenly remain warmer to the touch than normal, exhibit much shorter battery life, and start using cellular data at up to ten times the user's typical pattern.  I've taked with Apple Support several times, and was never able to get an answer.  The fix involves simply opening the Exchange account settings on the iDevice, shutting off calendar sync for thirty seconds, and turning it back on.  This is nothing new.
Over the weekend, an executive’s iPhone 5 (on Verizon) and his iPad 2 (Wi-Fi only), both running iOS 7, began exhibiting runaway connections to my employer’s Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync server.  The user upgraded his iPhone 5 to iOS 7.0.2 over the weekend, but the problem persisted.  In one 24-hour period, his iPhone checked in with our server 45,009 times, while his iPad connected 55,547 times.  Normally we’d expect to see a single device connect a few hundred times per day rather than tens of thousands.
I've written more about it here.

This is still a problem in iOS 7.0.4 as well.  We just had runaway calendar sync behavior on a 4th generation iPad running iOS 7.0.4 (iPad3C4/1102.55400001), which connected 75,436 times in a single 24-hour day.

  • IOS 6 sync exchange calendar issue

After upgrading to iOS 6, i tried to add an exchange account for my google calendars. I end up in an endless loop of it asking for my password.
Completely delete account and start over only to end up in the same loop. It goes through all the setup, appears to be ok saves the account and then about 10 seconds later starts prompting me for a password...
All settings are correct (server is m.google.com) user name and password are correct.
    thoughts?
    thanks!

Still struggling with this!  From my iPhone (on iOs6) the calendar syncs just fine, also back to calendar in laptop.
In iPad calendar sync stopped happening yesterday some time. Tried many of the suggestions around, culminating in deleting Gmail account and re adding.
I notice that if I just add it with mail it works fine.
If I try to add with calendar or notes it will not work. Further, if I try to add calendar or notes AFTER adding account with just mail, it sits there saying "turning on calendars/notes" for ever. Nothing happens.
I can access all Google capabilities with Google iPad app, but that rather negates the benefit of having your calendar accessible in iPad when offline!
This is clearly an iOS6 and (quite likely iPad specific) issue.

  • Calendar sync with Exchange server is unidirectional

Hello I can synchronize my BB 8900 with the Exchange calendar in bidirectional mode using the USB cable. When I switch it to wireless mode in my calendar options at the BB device, the synchronisation works only from the computer to the BB but not the other way round. I have checked I have just one calendar (desktop), and checked that calendar sync is set in bidirectional mode in the desktop manager (I did it and checked it was working well with the USB before switching again to wireless).  I have BB 8900 v4.6.1.310 (Platform 4.2.0.127) and have tried with different desktop manager versions, with same result (4.7 and 5.01). My corporate helpdesk is working on it for several days but no clue of the problem . Any suggestion?

I have the exact problem. Upgraded iPad 2 and iPod touch 4th gen to iOS 6 at same time. IPad reconnected to exchange server w/o major problems. iPod lost contacts, calendar, and exchange e-mail. Spent 5 hours on phone over past two nights with apple support w/o any resolution. Support was very nice and supportive, but in the end did nothing to help. He kept blaming my company's exchange server settings claiming that I did not have all the information set correctly. We copied the settings EXACTLY  from IPAD to iPod without success. I was then able to set up my exchange account on wife's iPod touch w/o any problems. My calendar, contacts, email all synched onto her iPod fine . He had little to say about my Icompany's IT settings, and finally admitted he had no idea how to help. It is not you, it is IOS 6. Thanks Apple for a shiny paperweight that no longer can provide me with calendar, e-mail, or contacts . I wish my only complaint with iOS 6 was the map!
This is like ownging a Ford for two years, and then, aftrer changing the oil, the car starts, but the wheels no longer will turn.

  • Yosemite upgrade breaks exchange calendar sync

Since my Yosemite upgrade on my mbp my calendar entries are not syncing to my corporate exchange server.  Mail is working fine.
I have noticed that when I receive a calendar invite and accept it in mail it remains in my inbox for a much longer time than it did under prior os/x versions.  Eventually the invite does move to trash.  However, the invite never shows up on my calendar.  Additionally, if I create a calendar event others do get it.  If I modify an existing calendar event it does not move on my calendar but others get the updated information.
I have tried various solutions offered in several forums but none has worked.  Removing and adding the account back does nothing.  There were notes about a time zone cache but I've not found that.  I've asked our crack IT department what they changed and they claim no changes were made.
Anyone have any good ideas otherwise I'll have to revert to the dreaded outlook app.

I've seen this issue a bunch of times where I work. It basically it works like this:
If one of your folders in Exchange has a or more corrupted item(s) in it the whole folder will not sync. So, it's an all or nothing thing. with the iPhone.
Easiest way to test this would be to move all items out of the Calendar (for example) and create a new appointment. If you see the new appointment in your calendar after refreshing then you know you have a corrupted item somewhere in your real data.
The tedious way I found around it is to move everything out of the folder Calendar, in-box, contacts, etc. and slowly move them back in a little at a time while refreshing the connection on the iPhone by turning the option on or off for either the calendar, contact, etc. until you find the corrupted item(s).
It is a serious pain but that seems to do the trick. Apple needs to create a tolerance of corrupted items in their code for the iPhone for this issue to go away.

  • IPhone to Exchange calendar sync issues

OK, I have read through many posts on here, but have yet to find a post that describes my situation. If someone has seen this answered in other places, please let me know.
I currently have the following setup:
iPhone 2.2.1, using OTA sync with Exchange
    Entourage 2008 (not Outlook/Windows)
Exchange server 2007 (at work, I am not the guy who runs it)
My mail and contacts work fine.
CALENDAR issue for me is something I can't quite wrap my head around:
I get syncs fine for calendar when accepted through Entourage - but when they are updated by the original senders I get multiple entries for every event showing up on my phone (the old events aren't removed). In addition, my phone does not sync back to the Exchange server when I accept invitations, nor when I create entries in my calendar.
    Thoughts?

This problem is only something I've had problems with recently. Previously entries in the Calendar would sync OK regardless of where they were created or accepted. So appointments I logged on the road into the phone would work back into Exchange and onto Entourage.
Two things have changed. Our Exchange server was upgraded and how has Active Sync which means I now get push notifications which is great. I've also gone up to the 3.01 software on the iPhone.
Now, it seems I am ONLY getting push from Exchange to the iPhone. Calendar entries from Entourage appear on the phone.
Any calendar entries created on the phone or invites accepted on the phone stay on the phone. They are not synced back to Exchange and onto my Entourage calendar.
As someone who is office based for only a few days a month, effective Calendar sync is vital.
If the problem is with the OS update on the phone then this fix needs to be part of 3.02. If the problem lies with the Active Sync setup then I need some instructions to go back to our Sys Admins with.
    Thanks!

  • Exchange Calendar sync loops, drains, and fails

It seems I have got the same problem as described here. The symptom is that the Exchange sync never seems to finish. The phone runs hot and probably uses a lot of network traffic. The problem is that the disable/enable of Calendar sync trick fails on my iPhone. It tries for a long time and then it times out. I can't even remove the accounts completely, that fails in the same way.
It's an iPhone 5S running iOS 7.0.5. I'm syncing three calendars. Two Exchange accounts from different servers and one Gmail.
This problem happened to me once before and then I ended up doing a Factory Reset. I'd rather not do that again.

I would love to find a solution to this! It could be to the root of the problem, how to force calendar sync off, how to force removal of email accounts, or to something that I've missed.
PS. I've asked the same question here. DS.

Not sure if this will help, I found it solved a slightly different problem.  the following is a re-post from a different thread.
I've had similar issues - although my email and contacts were syncing with Exchange without issue, in iOS7 I developed a one-way problem with calendar sync.
Appointments created on my iPhone were syncing fine to my Exchange server, and were then visible in outlook on my PC.
However items created in Outlook were not syncing to the iPhone.
I'm running iOS 7.1 on an iPhone 5; plus Outlook 10 on a Windows 8.1 machine connecting to Exchange on Small Business Server 2003.
    I found a solution here.
On the PC, go to your calendar and right-click the Calendar folder.  On the Permissions tab, change the default Permissions from "none" to "Reviewer".  Apply changes.
Then on the iPhone, remove and add back the calendar in Settings.
I have 3 separate calendars on my exchange server and had to do this for each one.  When I only did it for one calendar at first, this was the only one which appeared on the iPhone.  So, it seems to me that this was definitely the culprit.
Interesting that this problem only reared it's head since the iOS7 update.  Calendar was working just fine for me in iOS6.

  • Rebuilt iOS Exchange account, Calendar entries disappeared

I recreated the iOS Mail entry for my Gmail account using the Exchange protocol option, marked the account to sync Mail, Contacts and Calendars and my mail and contacts came back as expected, but all my iOS calendar entries are missing.
I've confirmed that Calendar is using the correct calendar ([email protected]), hit the 'reload' swirly arrow and I can see activity on my router for a few seconds, but, nada.
I use Google 2 step but it works for everything else and I can't think this means anything.
    What am I missing??

Never mind, I added a random calendar entry and everything immediately reappeared.

    1.      Log onto Outlook Web Access
    2.      Top right hand part of the screen select "Options"
    3.     Select "See All Options"
    4.      Select "Phone" menu
Check if you have 10 Devices registered.
If you have, you need to delete one of them to add your new Smart Phone to Exchange for synching
Check the "Last Sync Time" to indicate if this device is still active or not.
