  • Itouch 4g 8gb exchange

I have a cracked iPod touch 4 8gb and i want to get an itouch 5th generation. I'm fine with getting the refurbished model. I was wondering if I exchanged the itouch and gave around 60$ will they allow me to get the refurbed itouch 5 since the 8 gb goes for 169$ but with a cracked screen it's reduced to 70$ but since its an older model it will be around 90$ and the refurbished 16 gb itouch 5 is 150$ on Walmart so it's probably the same at apple. Will they let me do that plz answer

Apple will only give you a 10% recycling discount if you turn in an old iPod when you purchase a new one.

  • Cannot sync exchange on Mac Book Pro yet on my itouch it works fine

I have sucessfully set up active sync on my itouch and down load, read and send emails when connected to a network. Bought a Mac Book Pro at the weekend and have failed to get mail to sync. exchange server is set to auto discover, has service pack 1 roll up 4. It comes back saying make sure the exchange server is set to auto service pack 1 roll up 4. Using connection doctor just gets a red dot and failed to connect. Doubt anyone can answer the problem but any suggestions would be gratefully appreciated.
It's just how come the itouch works and the Mac Book Pro does not? There is only one difference in terms of information input the Mac does not ask for a domain name.

Did autodiscover automatically populate your server info? The mail.app settings are different than the activesync settings on the itouch.
I happen to have the same setup and I could only connect with autodiscover setting things up. Before trying autodiscover, I manually changed the settings to match a co-workers settings but it didn't work.

    No
Apple will give you a 10% discount on a new ipod of you bring in an old one for them to send off to recycling.
    You can sell yours.
You can buy a new one.
You can live with the one you have.

    itouch gen 1 OS 3.1.3

Is there some setting in Exchange to get this working?

An Apple Engineer lent me her brand new iTouch while she was here setting up an Apple trial on our Windows network. While I love the iTouch, it's very clear to me that linking up to an Exchange 2003 server is NOT as easy as Apple would have you believe. I have spent a great deal of the last two days browsing newsgroups, reading Apple manuals, going Google searches and there is ABSOLUTELY NOTHING showing:
    1. What is SPECIFICALLY required on an Exchange 2003 server...and the steps to set that up.
    2. Any explanations as to why the iTouch will not connect to the Exchange server once the ports are opened, and synchronization is allowed (by default).
FROM WHAT I **CAN** gather. It appears as if the "Enterprise" (we are a small K-8 school) needs a front AND back-end Exchange server running Web Outlook. Well, heck, folks, if I had THAT I wouldn't need to synchronize the iTouch with exchange...just connect via the web browser...AND...have access to ALL my folders, contacts, Notes, etc., etc.
So...here's how you fix the mail connection problem with Exchange.
Get your IT department to set up Web Outlook (that means buying TWO, count 'em, 2 Exchange servers...one front-end and one back end). At that point there is no need to configure ANYTHING on the iTouch.
BTW, Google mail works PERFECTLY (can't even get Hotmail or LiveMail or whatever the heck Microsoft is calling it now to work)...does THAT TELL YOU ANYTHING ABOUT WHO IS REALLY GOING TO "RULE" TECHNOLOGY???

  • Itouch exchange or return? wifi problem

i notice everyone is having a problem with their new itouch wifi. i am having the similar problem too. should i exchange and get a brand new itouch and see if that will work? or should i just wait it out and see if they fix the problem with an update? or just return it?

I described my iTouch wifi problems in the other discussion, just a few minutes ago. Right now I am connected to a router that I know no one else is connected to, and I still have my problem. It has nothing to do with the number of people connected.
One person told me to turn off wi-fi, and back on, and keep doing this until I get an IP address that does not start with 169... But my IP addresses always start with 169. I wonder if got stuck there -- it started out fine, but the first IP address that started with 169 it got, that was it, and it's stuck, and won't work again until apple fixes it.

I tried configuring my iTouch to communicate with my company exchange server. I entered the webmail address for exchange for incoming along with my userid and password but it does not seem to be able to connect.
    Any ideas?

  • Exchange Server password is using "Passcode Lock" on my Itouch.

Exchange Server/Outlook 2007 work great! Except... Now I have to enter a password just to access my Ipod. Exchange took over the "Passcode Lock" & I can't turn it off. Why not just password the email account? Ggrrrr...

    Hi Brenda,
The Exchange administrator can setup a Passcode Policy, which requires the iPhone have a passcode lock. The only way to remove that passcode lock is to have the Exchange administrator remove it or remove the Exchange account from the iPhone.
If you are the Exchange administrator, you can read more about the Passcode Policy here: http://manuals.info.apple.com/enUS/Enterprise_DeploymentGuide.pdf.

  • Syncing Two iPods/iTouch/iPhone on One Computer

Can iTunes sync on a single computer sync more than one device?
If I keep the old, deactivated iPhone as an iPod/iTouch, can I sync it one the same computer as my new iPhone 3GS? Will iTunes recognize that each has a unique sync protocol?

Although I'm not sure it's necessary, but it would be best if you gave each a unique name.
Ok, how do you give each a unique name?
I just got the 3gs and am giving the 3g to my wife. I got the 3gs working first and then I put her chip in the 3g, deleted the exchange email settings and most programs (leaving a few of the free programs I thought she might like). When I plugged the phone into the computer, iTunes started sycn (which I stopped immediately). I hunted for quite some time and couldn't see anyway to give this particular phone a new name.
    What have I missed?

  • Can send email but cannot receive on exchange account

My .mac account, gmail account, and yahoo account work flawlessly on my iphone. My work account, however, does not. My employer has his iphone working fine and my settings are the same but for some reason I can't receive email. I have no problem sending email from the account with the iphone, only receiving. Anyone have any ideas?
I have tried setting it up via the "exchange" option (entering mail servers, login, and password) and get the following:
    1. Cannot connect using SSL (I proceed without it)
    2. Cannot get mail. The user name or password is incorrect. IMAP support must be enabled. (which it is because my employer connects without issue).
    3. I save the account despite the warnings and can send email but not receive.

I am having the same problem with both my work and Yahoo accounts. At least to the work account I am positive that the settings are the same as a co-worker using an iTouch to access his email. I have re-entered the settings a minimum of 10 times and the IT department has tried no less than 5 times. The error message remains the same. I could understand incorrectly entering the settings once or twice, but not separate people entering it 15 times. There is something else wrong with the iPhone software.

  • If my iPod Touch 5 battery is failing, can I pay Apple to send me a refurbished one before I send them the one with a failing battery? I don't want to go without my ITouch.

If my iPod Touch 5 battery is failing, can I pay Apple to send me a refurbished one before I send them the one with a failing battery? I don't want to go without my ITouch.  I really don't want to go without it but I dont want to have to purchase a new one.  The battery life is abysmal, and I am reluctant to upgrade my ios system to ios8 because all I ever see are complaints about upgrades killing the battery.  I am still on ios6.  When I upgraded my macbook pro (which is now DEAD) the battery got worse.
I am just sick of it.  I called apple about my itouch battery and the help was terrible.  All they were telling me to do was do a restart and UPGRADE TO THE LATEST IOS TO SEE IF THAT SOLVES THE BATTERY PROBLEM.  They would not even tell me what to do if that would not work.  Very rude.I kept asking and I finally had to find out myself through my own research that they cant replace the battery; instead they send you a refurbished ipod.  They never told me that on the phone and they kept giving me the run around when I kept asking them what I should do if the IOS upgrade did not work or made the battery worse.  Hopefully someone can answer my initial question.  Thanks guys.  I have a charger that I sometimes use plugged in to the ipod ( not all the time, I know that is bad for the battery)  and I thought my battery life should be better than it is because I sometimes use it on the charger  ( it should save the battery).

Not that I know of. You can do the exchange at an Apple store if they have refurbished ones in stock

  • New Itouch not recognized by windows or itunes.

I got the itouch today for XMAS. I have attempet to activate it on two different laptops and my home computer, none of which recognize it in windows or on itunes. The only thing I can consistently get from the itouch screen is the picture to conncet to itunes. WHich obviously doesn't work.
I have reinstalled itunes several times, verified the usb ports (which are multiple) are working. I have reset the itouch, even though I haven't even used it.
Any logical suggestions on how to activate this thing?

I was really frustrated this morning when I expected to plug in my new ipod touch and it did not work...
I have spent hours and hours trying to figure out what in the world is wrong with it.
I called apple support on the phone this morning and none of the troubleshooting ideas worked so I made an appt with customer service on SATURDAY! ahhhhh i seriously do not want to wait....i kind of want to smash it on the ground....
i read everyones thread and the exact same problems are happening to me...
when i pluggled it in it said "This Ipod cannot be used because the Apple Mobile Device service is not started." so i went into services and the program refused to start....goody...then on some weird spur of the moment click, it worked but even then my ipod didnt even show up in itunes...made that annoying little noise
im going to see if i can exchange this defective ipod touch for another, but i just hope there arent 5 million people there...(day after christmas)
    good luck everyone!
