Exchange Management Shell (Exch 2010) - Error when opening

Hi,
Ive an Exchange 2010 SP3 server which wont open Exchange Management Shell. When opening it, I get the following:
The term 'ImportPSSession' is not recognized as the name of a cmdlet, function, script file, or operable program. Check
the spelling of the name, or if a path was included, verify that the path is correct and try again.
At C:\Program Files\Microsoft\Exchange Server\V14\bin\connectfunctions.ps1:64 char:18
+         ImportPSSession <<<<  -ClearCache:$false
    + CategoryInfo          : ObjectNotFound: (ImportPSSession:String) [], CommandNotFoundException
    + FullyQualifiedErrorId : CommandNotFoundException
The only difference I can see between this and another server which works is get-modules shows the output below on the one that works but the one that fails doesnt show anything. (This could be a symptom though rather than the cause.)
ModuleType Name                                  ExportedCommands
Script          <ServerNameReplaced>...   {Get-IRMConfiguration, New-MailUser, Enable-CmdletExtensionAgent, New-Ac...
Ive tried copying over the files in this article, but it didnt work:
http://blogs.technet.com/b/nawar/archive/2010/09/03/exchange-management-shell-ems-missing-after-applying-exchange-2010-sp1.aspx
Any help appreciated!?
Thanks
Stephen

Because that article has files from Exchange 2010 SP1 and you are running SP3.
If you have another server you can copy the file from that server to affected server

  • Exchange 2013 OWA HTTP 500 error when opening another mailbox

We have an Windows Server 2012 Exchange 2013 server with OWA.
All users can login fine, but when I open another mailbox with my Admin account, having enabled access to that user's mailbox, the URL redirects to /owa/auth/errorfe.aspx?httpCode=500 and shows:
    something went wrong
Sorry, we can't get that information right now. Please try again later. If the problem continues, contact your helpdesk
Google won't help me in this instance. Where in the eventlog are OWA events logged?

    Hello,
I am joining to the thread opener, however, we do not use exchange server. we are using the Cloud services through Microsoft and as far as I know, the version is 2013 wave 15 (again, through Microsoft's cloud).
when I open the outlook, I can see the shared mailbox just fine.
when I open the office web access, and I search the mailbox through the 'add another mailbox..' It finds it however when I press the add button I get the HTTP 500 error.
when I tried to open a different mailbox (another shared mailbox I gave myself permissions for), it opens just fine.
it seems (from what I can tell) it is this specific shared mailbox that I cannot open through OWA while others I can.
when I try to open the mailbox in question through a different internet browser (Chrome) I get this Error:
NegotiateSecurityContext failed with for host 'db3pr04mb138.eurprd04.prod.outlook.com' with status'LogonDenied'
the error seems to be persistent on this specific mailbox only regardless to what browser I am trying to access with.
I can only assume that the solutions you (Winnie) offered isn't relevant in my case.
thanks in advance for any attempt to help me with this issue.

  • Cannot connect to the Service Manager portal WCF service - Error when opening SM Portal

    Greetings,
I have tried everything I can think of to resolve this issue and I have tried all suggestions I have found on Technet.
Basically, I had the SM Portal working on a test VM.  I am ready to use it in production but it is not working.  I deleted my test VM and built a new one.  On it, I have SharePoint 2010 Foundation and the SM Portal installed.  I have
a valid self-signed cert.  the FQDN is correct (hqsrva24.dds.local) in both SharePoint and also in IIS.  I also made sure under Application Settings on the SM Portal IIS site points to the FQDN of the SCSMWebContentServer.
So what happens when I go to the SM Portal (https://hqsrva24.dds.local:444/SMPortal) is it prompts me for a logon, which i put in and the site comes up.  But at that point the Silverlight portion is not loaded and I immediately get prompted for a logon.
I have tried several different logons, all of which have full access to the site in Sharepoint.  Eventually I get the error in red at the bottom of the screen "Cannot connect to the Service Manager portal WCF service"
If I try to access the Web Content Server service on its own (https://hqsrva24.dds.local/Servicehost/services/DataAccessService.svc), I get a prompt to logon and none of my logons work.  i eventually get
an unauthorized error. However; If I log into the server which SM Portal is on and go to https://localhost/Servicehost/services/DataAccessService.svc, I get no prompt to login and I get a "Metapublishing for this service is currently disabled."
I'm out of ideas at this point, barring completely starting over (not just the SM portal but all of the Service Manager Suite).

Man I've had this problem so many times and its almost always a different solution. Are you sure that either the Domain Users group or NT Authority\Authenticated Users have permissions to the site and service. remember the the two prompts are authenticating
different things: the Sharepoint site and the application site (silverlight). Make sure users have permission in both SCSM and in Sharepoint.

  • Excel 2010 error when opening excel file

Getting error "excel can not open the file xlsx because the file format or extension is not valid"

    Hi,
Based on the error message you provided, this file may have been saved as an Excel binary workbook. However, the workbook has an .xlsx extension that is appended to the file.
Try to change the file name from ".xlsx" to ".xlsb" or ".xls" to check the result.
One other possible cause is the file is corrupted, open Excel and click File -> Open -> Browse to the file location, select the file, and choose "Open and Repair", check if this helps in this scenario:

  • Open management shell with a error

    Hi
when I open the exchange management shell . The error code will show below.
    VERBOSE: Connecting to myservername.mydomain.com
New-PSSession : [myservername.mydomain.com] Connecting to remote server myservername.mydomain.com failed with the following
error message : WinRM cannot process the request. The following error with errorcode 0x80090324 occurred while using
Kerberos authentication: There is a time and/or date difference between the client and server.
     Possible causes are:
-The user name or password specified are invalid.
-Kerberos is used when no authentication method and no user name are specified.
-Kerberos accepts domain user names, but not local user names.
-The Service Principal Name (SPN) for the remote computer name and port does not exist.
-The client and remote computers are in different domains and there is no trust between the two domains.
After checking for the above issues, try the following:
-Check the Event Viewer for events related to authentication.
-Change the authentication method; add the destination computer to the WinRM TrustedHosts configuration setting or
    use HTTPS transport.
Note that computers in the TrustedHosts list might not be authenticated.

    Any solutions can help .?

    Hi,
According to error code, it’s mostly likely related to the time sync.
Thus, let’s try to manually synchronize the computer with the time on the domain.
1.Click Start, and then click Run.
2.Type net time /domain /set, and then click OK.
If you have any question, please feel free to let me know.

    Updated information.
I can succussfully connect to the exchange powershell from a remote computer, using this method.
    $Session = New-PSSession -ConfigurationName Microsoft.Exchange -ConnectionUri
http://<FQDN of Exchange 2013 Client Access server>/PowerShell/ -Authentication Kerberos
    Import-PSSession $Session
So the problem is localised on the server.

  • Error connecting to the Exchange Management Shell - and no one can connect w/ Outlook or OWA

Whew - I'm not sure what's happening but everything blew up this morning when another admin rebooted the server...
I can't connect to the Exchange Management shell - I get this:

And in digging around, re-running the sharepoint PSConfig appeard to be a fix for a related issue I was reading about, and since there didn't seemt to be any harm in running it again (I did find the technote and had manually ran it after SP1 was installed)
I ran it and this is an excerpt from the log:

server is joined to a server farm.  Possible reasons for this failure could be that you no longer have the appropriate permissions to the server farm, the database server hosting the server farm is unresponsive, the configuration database is inaccessible
or this server has been removed from the server farm.  To diagnose this problem further, review the extended error information located at {0}.  If this problem persists, run this wizard again to disconnect from the server farm.  After disconnecting,
run the wizard again to create or connect to an existing server farm.
So I seem to have some massive permissions issues.  Is there any kind  of a technote or walkthrough that can step me through verifying what permissions should be where?  The connect to Internet Wizard won't complete complaining it can't configure
the email and to run it again.  That caused the Set Up your Internet Address wizard to not run, complaining you have to run the connect to Internet wizard.

Is there any update on the issue?
No.  I gave up and rebuilt the server - this time inside of HyperV!
It's definetly a problem of some sort of a problem with IIS, that much is obvious.  It's frustrating, because by not being able to get to the Exchange Management Shell it made recovery of the Exchange database VERY hard.
The rest of this will be a bit of a rant so feel free to stop reading here if you like :)
I'm pretty unhappy with the fragility of recovering an Exchange databas in general - there is a VERY narrow range of parameters to get mail back - and very many things that can prevent you from recovering.  Had I suspected that there would have been
1/10th the pain in recovering mail, before I tried to connect the clients to the new exchange I would have made .PST files for everyone - which would have worked since they all had cached .OST files, even if the clients couldn't talk to Exchange due to the
aformentioned IIS problems.  Anyway, it was a total nightmare, extremly frustrating and while many of my problems were probalby self-induced, the total lack of a coherant disaster recovery strategy has at least motivated me to be EXTREMLY diligent about
backups - and not just backups, but ensuring that the SBS backup is working and occasionally firing up a clone VM and doing a restore to ensure the one of two ways Exchange can be successfully backed up are indeed working.
With such an extreme dependence on IIS for client acces AND managemet of Exchange, there really, REALLY needs to be more documentation on how Exchange uses IIS, how to step through the registry and other low-level internals to troubleshoot and compare.
I must have read just about every technet article and literallly hundreds of blog entries on recovering Exchange - but the lack of information about Exchange's integration and dependancies on IIS were the most frustrating of all.  Talk about putting all
your eggs in one basket and a huge single point of failure ticking time bomb!
And I think it was either SharePoint Express or an accidently applied SharePoint Express update that blew up IIS.  A few days after that update got applied the server was restarted, and that's when everything went completly sideways.  That's whats
even more frustrating - that so many applications are so dependant on a now essential layer is frustrating.  I realize SBS is an exception to the rule - generally Exchange is installed on it's own server and this isn't a remote possiblity, but any update
(or installer) that messes with IIS really needs to check the environment it's going to go into, and if there is anything at all that could possibly cause a compatibility issue, the update should "fail open" and not install wtihout explicit confirmation
from the admin that he wants to isntall it.  Then again, another admin either ran the installer or approved the SP Express update so that still may not have saved me  - but if he saw an explicit warning he probably would not have just clicked through
    it!
Oh well - thanks for reading if you went all the way through.  I'm just glad that it's now over :)

This is not a REMOTE Exchange 2010 server, I'm launching it from the SBS2011 Console with the Domain Admin.

  • Outlook 2010 gives error when opening a PowerPoint attachment.

Outlook 2010 gives error when opening a PowerPoint attachment.
    Hi All,
We have several VIP employees that are getting the following error on all PowerPoint documents that come as attachments from Outlook.
I have researched and tried the following steps and verified these settings are already applied.
I did find a work around but not a fix and our security team will NOT allow me to change this setting however if I uncheck the setting all employees can open the outlook attachment.
Any other ideas on a fix for this if I am unable to uncheck Enable Protected View.

    Hi Matthew,
This is a perennial problem, here is a thread which has a deep discussion about this issue:
    http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/office/en-US/07f710a5-a6ca-4256-8f27-6aac41a6b37e/outlook-2010-unable-to-open-word-excel-and-power-point-attachments-from-an-email?forum=outlook
It looks like nobady really find a solution there, the only workaround is what you have found - change the protected view setting in Trust Center. You will lose some security by doing this but it seems to be the only solid solution currently.

  • Is there Exchange 2013 view Exchange Management Shell command similar to Exchange 2010

    Hi,
Is there anything similar in Exchange 2013 (Please refer the image).  In Exchange 2010 if you make any changes via Management console you could go to "View Exchange Management Shell Command Log" and see what shell command it ran in the background.
It was very handy to copy shell command from here and then run it from shell in case you need to make bulk changes rather than try to find out the shell command from scratch.
I was wondering if there is anything similar in Exchange 2013.
    Thanks,
    Raman

    Probably in SP1...
    Keep your finger cross ;)

  • Error when opening Capacity Planner and Performance Manager

    Hello,
I am having an error when opening Performance Manager or Capacity Planner under 9i OEM in our environment. I started at the company about 2 months ago, and have not used these tools until yesterday - and just found these errors. Below is a link to a screenshot of the errors. Does anybody have any ideas?

Which are the contents of the log file produced during installation of OEM...????
OEM was installed on its host machine about 4 years ago, long before I started with this company. I don't know if the logs are still there or not. Where should I be looking?
Do all other parts of OEM operate successfully...????
Yes, everything besides Cap Planner & Perf Mgr.
Is this in Standalone Mode or Oracle Management Server Mode?
The issue occurs in both modes.

  • How to: Get a list of mail users by using the Exchange Management Shell

Hello every one, quick question: When I run this code below for VB, how will I see the results of the program? Is there anyway I can make the results appear in a message box?
    Function GetUsersUsingBasicAuth( _
        ByVal LiveIDConnectionUri
    As String, ByVal ScehmaUri
    As String, _
        ByVal Credentials
    As PSCredential, ByVal
    Count As Integer)
    As Collection(Of PSObject)
        Dim ConnectionInfo
    As WSManConnectionInfo = _
            New WSManConnectionInfo(New Uri(LiveIDConnectionUri), ScehmaUri, Credentials)
        ConnectionInfo.AuthenticationMechanism = AuthenticationMechanism.Basic
        Dim RemoteRunspace
    As Runspace
        RemoteRunspace = RunspaceFactory.CreateRunspace(ConnectionInfo)
        Return GetUserInformation(Count, RemoteRunspace)
      End Function
    Function GetUserInformation(ByVal
    Count As
    Integer, ByVal RemoteRunspace
    As Runspace) As Collection(Of PSObject)
        Dim RemotePowerShell
    As PowerShell = PowerShell.Create
        RemotePowerShell.AddCommand("Get-Users")
        RemotePowerShell.AddParameter("ResultSize",
    Count)
' Open the remote runspace on the server.
        RemoteRunspace.Open()
' Associate the runspace with the Exchange Management Shell.
        RemotePowerShell.Runspace = RemoteRunspace
' Invoke the Exchange Management Shell to run the command.
        Return RemotePowerShell.Invoke
    End Function

All you need to do is enumerate through the Collection returned eg
    Dim commandResults As Collection(Of PSObject)
    commandResults = RemotePowerShell.Invoke()
For Each obj As PSObject In commandResults
    MessageBox.Show(obj.Properties("DisplayName").Value.ToString())
    Next
    Cheers
