Exchange on-premise 2010 Hot DR site on Azure

Hi,
Customer has Exchange on-premise 2010 for which he wants hot back-up on cloud. In case his in-house server goes down the one on the  cloud should be up & running giving him availability.
Please share the info.

I haven't heard of any cloud solution for On Premises Production Exchange to Cloud DR.
If he is looking for 99.99% up time then Cloud is the best solution for him

  • DAG in exchange server 2010 across different sites

    hello ;
I want to know the best way to implement DAG for exchange server  2010 across 2 sites in the same domain ,
I have 2 exchanger server in one site in DAG ,with 300 gb database size
but I want to implement exchange server 2010 in a new site within the same domain  and this will be my 3rd  exchange server and will be a member on my existing DAG in the head office
the new site is linked to my head office using ipvpn connection which is 6 mb , and ADC is there in the new site,
what is the best way to implement the new exchange server in the new site to join the existing DAG .
is there is any problem related to DAG in this scenario ?
what is the best way to implement this scenario ?
    Thanks

    Hi,
For each AD site, it is recommended to have at least there Exchange roles: CAS, HUB, and MBX roles.
Do you plan to have active users in this new site?
If there are active users in this new site, you can deploy a Three-Member DAG in two AD sites. However, it is recommended to deploy two DAGs in two AD sites and you should have at least two DAG members each AD site. This scenario, two witness servers in
    separate site is necessary.
If the new site is only for DR purpose, you can install this new Exchange server and add it to DAG. After that, add database copy to this new server.
Besides that, here are two articles which may help you for your reference.

  • Routing email from exchange 2007 to 2010 .

    Although this is an
hypothetical question but still would be a great help if anyone could answer this :  " How email routing takes place from exchange 2007 user
to exchange 2010 user. I have exchange 2007 and 2010 ,provided i am using single forest with same domain name in both 2007 & 2010 environment "
    Aditya Mediratta

    Hi,
Firstly,I'd like to explain, message routing from Exchange 2007 to Exchange 2010 is message delivery between responsed Hub Transport servers:
When a Hub Transport server queries Active Directory to determine the Mailbox server hosting the destination mailbox, it also retrieves the version of the Mailbox server. If the Mailbox server is an Exchange 2007 server that's in the same site as the Hub Transport
server, the Hub Transport server will relay the message to an Exchange 2007 Hub Transport server in the same Active Directory site.
For more information about the emails routing process, you can refer to the following articles:

  • Exchange 2003 to 2010 Migration Active-Sync & OWA

I am in the process of migrating from Exchange 2003 to Exchange 2010. I have a co-existence running currently. I have moved 1 mail box over to the new exchange server (a test account I created). I have 2 questions, one about OWA and the other about Active-Sync/Mobile
    access.
    1. When I log into my internal OWA site I can access the webmail just fine. However when I try to go to my external OWA site I get a HTTP Error 404. I have setup the weblink https://webmail.company.com in my external DNS record. However the internal link
says it is https://webmail.company.com/owa. Is there something additional that needs to be setup in IIS for the external site to work or only after the migration is completed?
    2. I tried adding the account I migrated to my cell phone for mail but I just get a "Connection to server has failed" message. The internal and external link for mobile access is both the same and setup in external DNS https://mail.comapny.com.
Is this a feature that only works after the migration is completed? I have ports 80,443,143,25,993 open in my sonicwall for e-mail services. However the IP is still set to my old exchange server. Is it possible to have 2 settings the same in sonicwall with
2 different IP's? Last time I tried it with migrating my VPN neither VPN server worked after that.
Any help and insight would be greatly appreciated. I am new to systems administration and this is my first exchange migration

    Hi,
Here are my answers you can refer to :
    1. To deploy OWA in the Exchange 2003 and 2010 coexistence, we need a legacy namespace for the Exchange 2003 server.
For more information, you can refer to the following article:
     http://blogs.technet.com/b/exchange/archive/2009/12/02/3408921.aspx
Additionally, for the 404 error, I recommend you check the IIS log to find the root cause:
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/943891
    2. I recommend you deploy Exchange 2010 in the "Internet Facing AD Site" and Exchange 2003 server in the "Non-Internet facing AD site": set the external URL in CAS 2010 and point mail.company.com to Exchange 2010 server IP address.
For more information, you can refer to the following article:

  • Reporting services integration feature not available in 2010 experience mode site collection.

I have a 2013 SP farm with SQL reporting services 2012 configured. When I create a site collection using the 2010 experience mode, I don't see the "Reporting Services Integration" feature under site collection features. However this feature is
available when I create a site collection in 2013 experience mode. Is there a way I can activate the "Reporting Services integration" feature in a site created in 2010 experience mode? I am not able to activate the feature on a 2010 experience mode
    site collection using PowerShell either.

    Hi,
From your description, When you create a site collection using the 2010 experience mode, the "Reporting Services Integration" feature is missed. However this feature is available when you create a site collection in 2013 experience mode.
For your issue, whether your 2010 experience mode site collection is in the same web application with the 2013 mode site collection. if not,  make sure the web application which contains the 2010 site collecction have been
    enabled ssrs service,
Go to CA->Application Management->Manage web applications-Choose the web application->Click Service Connections->Check SSRS, refer to the screenshot:
Besides, I suggest you create a new 2010 mode site collection with the same tempalte and the same web application with 2013 mode site collection, compare the results.
Also you can upgrade you 2010 mode site collection to the 2013 mode and compare the results.
    Hope it helps.

My enviroment: Exchange 2013, Outlook 2010 - no cached mode. Issue happend with two email addresses but not always.
Any suggestion, how to resolve issue?
    Thx.

    Hi Tomas,
Does this issue occur in OWA? How is the impact, only one user or all users?
Please try to run Outlook under safe mode to avoid add-ins and AVs.
If there is any 3rd party add-ins, please try to disable them for testing.
    Thanks

  • Problem with public folder initialization on exchange load generator 2010

    hi,
we need to make some stress charge for a migration between 2010 and 2013. Before that we need to populate our exchange 2010 lab with full mailbox and public folders. So we tried Exchange load generator 2010 for this task ( initialization only).
Loadgen did well for the mailbox but we have some problems with the public folders. we have an empty public folder database and the user we run loadgen with has organization admin and public folder management right. the problem is that when we run this command
(for initializing public folder only, mailbox's done) :
    loadgencmd.exe /p /c config.xml /add trace.log
IT create only one public folder with the user we run loadgen with, and 5-8 objects inside. We need that It create a public folder for each users it created before. Maybe we do not understand loadgen
    correctly...

    I found my solution :
customize the <PublicStoreProfile> section in the configuration file as follows:
     <PublicStoreProfile>
        <MessageFiles />
        <TopLevelFolderCount>1</TopLevelFolderCount>
        <NonTopLevelFolderCount>1</NonTopLevelFolderCount>
        <MinimumFolderDepth>1</MinimumFolderDepth>
        <AverageFolderDepth>2</AverageFolderDepth>
        <MaximumFolderDepth>3</MaximumFolderDepth>
        <MinimumMessageCount>5</MinimumMessageCount>
        <AverageMessageCount>10</AverageMessageCount>
        <MaximumMessageCount>15</MaximumMessageCount>
        <UseOrdinalFolderName>false</UseOrdinalFolderName>
      </PublicStoreProfile>
Simply put differents values for each variables.

  • Public folders are not in sync after settting up Replicas between Exchange 2003 and 2010

I have setup Public Folder replicas between the 2 Exchange servers and I can see all the top and sub level folders.
For those mailboxes that were migrated over to Exchange 2010,  I have noticied  a lower number of item contents in these fodders when views from an Outlook client whose mailbox had been migrated over to Exchange 2010.
On Exchange 2003 System Manager, if I properties one of the Public Folders, under the Replicataion tab, I can see the old and new server there. On the Exchange server 2003 box, I can see the last update reviced was a few weeks ago.
I did see an option to synchronize content but I am not sure which server to run this one from. The Exchange 2003 or 2010 server.
There is also a Resend Changes... option. Should I use this instead?
    Can anyone advise?

    Hi,
The "Resend changes" and "Synchronize content" options in Exchange 2003 ESM are used to initiate hierarchy and content replication.
To update public folder hierarchy and content from Exchange 2010 side, you can use the following commands.
    Update-PublicFolderHierarchy
    Update-PublicFolder
Please run the Get-publicfolderstatistics cmdlet to get public folder details such as item count, this information will help you compare content replicated between the source and destination servers.
Besides, here is a blog about public folder replication troubleshooting for your reference.

  • SharePoint 2010 - Create new site collection in existing web application with different existing content DB

I have a SharePoint 2010 root level site collection SC1 in web application WEBAPP1. I want to create copy of that site collection in same web application WEBAPP1. Apart from Import/Export, Restore/Backup options, will following approach work? If yes , how?
I took backup of content database of web application.
    Restored database with different name
Mounted Content database to this WEBAPP1 by assigning new ID to DB
Created new site collection by using this newly mounted DB
Site collection gets created successfully but content does not appear.
Please guide if i can achieve desired functionality by using this approach.
If this helped you resolve your issue, please mark it Answered

It is because the Site GUID is identical, and each GUID can only be present on the farm once. You can use Backup-SPSite/Restore-SPSite (which is full-fidelity, unlike Export-SPWeb/Import-SPWeb), which will generate a new GUID for the restore Site Collection,
even in the same Web App.

  • Getting UConn 8.5 to work with both Exchange 2007 and 2010

According to the document below, I should be able to set up one Unified Messaging service to access mailboxes on both Exchange 2010 and Exchange 2007 servers.  I setup my service to point to 2010 CAS servers and I can access 2010 mailboxes, but testing 2007 mailboxes comes up with an http 200 error.  If I setup the CAS server as 2007, I can access 2007 mailboxes, but get an error on 2010 mailboxes.  This will be a real pain if I can't do this with one service.  I don't want to have to keep Unity Connection updated as users get moved from 2007 to 2010!  Anyoe know how to do this?
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/voice_ip_comm/connection/8x/unified_messaging/guide/85xcucumg020.html#wp1198171

I got this to work!  My Unified Messaging Service was originally setup to Specify an Exchange Server.  That is where I had put the  DNS name of the  CAS server (and that DNS entry pointed to several CAS servers).  I changed the Service to Search for Exchange Servers instead and used that same DNS name in the Active Directory DNS Domain Name.  When I do the test of this service, it tells me it Failed to locate a Domain Controller via DNS, but that is just informational.  It also says it successfully connected to the Exchange CAS server with the autodiscover.xml.  Now my mailboxes on both Exchange 2007 and 2010 are able to receive voicemail messages with this one Service configured.

  • How do you migrating a SharePoint 2010 BI PerformancePoint site to a newly built SharePoint 2013 site?

    Hi All,
I need help in migrating a SharePoint 2010 BI PerformancePoint site to a newly built SharePoint 2013 site on another server. The SharePoint 2010 BI Performance Point site has mainly Analytic graphs and charts that work perfectly within the SP 2010 environment
but do not work within the SP 2013 environment. When I open the graphs and charts within Dashboard Designer I get a ‘cannot access the data source’ error message. The problem I am having is there is no way I can edit the graphs and charts to use a newly created
data source on the SP 2013 site.
    I hope you can help
    Colin

Just been going through all this with a client.
Make sure that you either migrate the Secure Store using the Database Attach method (You'll need the farm passphrase to do this), or ensure that you recreate any Secure Store groups required for users to access the data sources.
If you're not using the Secure Store for access to the data, try monitoring the SQL logs on the target data stores and looking for login failures. The PerformancePoint service account(Or the excel unattended account) may required access to the
    data store.
Also, if you're using PowerPivot, be aware that your Excel files will need to be created in Excel 2013 with the PowerPivot 2013 add-in in order for manual refresh (Or refresh on open) to work.
    Paul.

    Hello Inderjit
Unfortunately we cant use RBAC on EDGE server
On Edge Transport servers, RBAC isn't used to control permissions. The local Administrators group is used to control who can configure
Exchange features on the local server.
