Exchange online service for personal domain

I wish to opt for exchange email online service frm microsoft for my personal hosted domain name.
As you may be already aware that all other emails have the option of POP or IMAP setting.I currently have POP enabled for my mail accounts.I understand that this does not give the advantage of uniform syncing on all devices.
But it gives me an advantage which i need.I have the same email account configured on 3 devices..a laptop,a desktop and a smartphone. The desktop is managed  by my office.Since it works on POP any changes made by them is not reflected on my laptop/phone.
Let me know if this same option is available somehow if i migrate to microsoft exchnage mail service.I will be using outlook on desktop. Is there any feature on outlook to do the same or in exchnage mail itself.
Kindly advise

Hi RahoolJindal,
If you have Exchange Mail Service, besides the POP and IMAP service, you can also have Exchange account which have more powerfully features. Comparing with the POP, and IMAP, the
data files are all stored on the Exchange Server Database. You can access it anywhere with any clients like Mobility, Outlook Anywhere and Internet Explorer (OWA).
When you use Outlook to configure the Exchange account, you can also have business features like Calendar, Out Of Office notification, Meeting Room free time finder and ect.
Thanks,

  • Considersation of Exchange Online services

We are considering using Exchange Online Service for replacing our legacy pop/smtp email hosting service from our ISP. For that we want to review the performance of the service and issues we need consider.
    1) our users are using outlook 2007/2010 for email. After change to Exchange Online service, can we still use outlook for email? How we should connect to the new Exchange Online Service?
    2) Bandwidth required for the exchange online service for 30 users?
    3) Some of our colleagues need travel to ASEAN Countries, Middle East, Greater China, Korean, Japan, etc. Do that need access thru servers in Hong Kong (where our office locates)? Can the Online Web service be used in those countres?
    4) Now user are archiving their emails into Outlook Data file (.PST), how should we do the archiving with Exchange Online service? some of the users receiving 10GB email per year and we possible need keep them for 7 years. Any suggestion?
    Any other consideration?

    1) You can, but you need to update them and run the Desktop setup from the Office 365 portal. Configuring the account is usually done by Autodiscover, so all you need to do is enter username and password. Here's an example article:
    https://support.office.com/en-ie/article/set-up-email-in-Outlook-2013-6e27792a-9267-4aa4-8bb6-c84ef146101b
    2) Well it depends on the usage of course, but overall it will not be that different from your current setup. Higher latency yes, but that will be compensated by using Cached mode. Here's a general article with information and troubleshooting tips for network
    performance and Office 365:
    https://technet.microsoft.com/library/f97c2f06-0426-443d-8a16-d98abb0da252#EstimateBandwidthRequirements
    3) It can be accessed from anywhere, unless specifically blocked by ISP/government.
    4) You get 50GB by default, if you need more storage you can get the Exchange Online plan 2 license, that comes with unlimited archiving. There are advanced legal and compliance features that can meet most of the requirements for large enterprises as well,
so you should be OK. And if you need to keep mail for people that have left the company, you can just use Inactive mailboxes for free:
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dn144876(v=exchg.150).aspx
The biggest 'gotcha' is the fact that there is no point-in-time backup in O365. You as the administrator will be responsible for making sure an item is preserved when needed, or recovering items that the user removed by mistake. As mentioned above, there
are a lot of features that can help you with that, so you should have no problems if you are prepared. But it's worth explaining to the users that you might not be able to recover "that message I deleted 6 months ago".

  • Assigning exchange online licenses for hybrid deployments

Please help me understand the following:
    a) If I have an exchange Hybrid deployment, what happens if I activate Exchange online license for a user hosted on prem?
    b) what happens if I add my domain to office 365 tenant and assign Exchange online licenses to users without having a hybrid?
    Thanks

  • Can I purchase Philips Hue products directly from an Apple Store without having placed an online request for personal pickup?

I'v taken a recent interest in Philips Hue products, particularly their GU10 bulbs. I was therefore wondering if it was possible to simply walk in and purchase the bulbs over the counter (assuming they have them in stock) without placing an online request for personal pickup?

Yes but I would check to see if they have them in stock

  • What exactly is support for "personal domains"?

From what I gather from clicking on "setup personal domain" in iWeb is that you have to have a .Mac account for this to work?
Is this true? [just to make sure]
I was hoping for iWeb to allow for FTP uploading to your own server ...

So what exactly is the new support for "personal domain names" then? I've been able to publish to a folder and ftp to my domain all long.
You have been ftping to your host, not your "domain." "Personal domain names" enables you to use .Mac as your host and thus use direct publishing while keeping your personal url/domain name (instead of the .Mac url, web.mac.com/username). In the past you could already do this by arranging domain forwarding and perhaps masking at the place where you had your personal domain name sitting. The new .Mac feature provides a better way to do this.
I want to use iWeb's "direct publishing" feature but not have my site at .mac
That is not possible in iWeb 08. Many have asked for it since iWeb 06 came out, and Apple did not include it, so I would not expect it to be added via an update later.

  • Exchange 2010 Autodiscocer for non-domain computers.

Hello. I have problems with autodiscover for non -domain computers. Somebody can explain me in turn what i must do for configuration.

    Hi,
For your Non-domain joined clients, the Outlook would connect to Exchange mailbox from the Internet. We need to enable Outlook Anywhere for your external users:
    Enable-OutlookAnywhere -Server:Exch10 -ExternalHostname:mail.contoso.com
    -ClientAuthenticationMethod:Ntlm -SSLOffloading:$true
For autodiscover service, when Outlook is started on a client that is not domain-connected, it first tries to locate the Autodiscover service by looking up the SCP object in Active Directory. Because the client is unable to contact Active
Directory, it tries to locate the Autodiscover service by using Domain Name System (DNS). In this scenario, the client will determine the right side of the user’s email address, that is, contoso.com, and check DNS by using two predefined URLs. For example,
if your email address is [email protected], Outlook will try the following two URLs to try to connect to the Autodiscover service:
    https://contoso.com/autodiscover/autodiscover.xml
    https://autodiscover.contoso.com/autodiscover/autodiscover.xml
For more information about autodiscover service in Exchange 2010, please refer to:
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/jj591328(v=exchg.141).aspx
Therefore, you don’t need to change any configuration for Autodiscover. Just make sure your Exchange certificate which is assigned with IIS service has included aotodiscover.contoso.com name and the certificate is valid and trusted for external
user using. If not, please create a new SRV record for your autodiscover service and pointed to
mail.contoso.com. For more information about SRV record of autodiscover, please click:

  • Exchange (?) service for seperate "Sharepoint" AD

My customer "Foo.com" created a special seperate AD "fooextern.net" for colabaoration with
    external partners etc.
There is only a sharepoint service installed on fooextern.net, accounts are created manually. For a customer who wants to use SharePoint on fooextern.net you obviously need to create a
seperate account in fooextern.net. No synchronization. No trust relationship. No Email-Service (Exchange...) installed in fooextern.net
Foo.com includes Exchange Email service, all other participiciants have
    different local mail services.
=> when a customer needs to send an email e.g. to a fooextern.net sharepoint group, she has to use her local email service on foo.com, manually copying email addresses from sharepoint to email client - since groups, mail addresses etc. are not available
in the local (foo.com) mail service.
? What is the best approach to allow for "comfortable" email services within the Sharepoint fooextern.net
    AD?
--- AD trust relationships between foo.com and fooextern.net? (and maybe more for other companies...)
--- Email service (Exchange?) for fooexter.net? -- creates additional mailboxes, address book sync?...
What is generally the best recommendation for working with external companies on a Sharepoint
    + email services?
--- setting up Sharepoint within your AD and creating "external accounts" for all those people wanting to work with you?
------- => Lots of additional accounts to manage, passwords expiring, security issues...
--- setting up a seperate Sharepoint with seperate AD (as here), seperate accounts,
    setup Exchange - and then?
------- Sync/Trust AD account info, sync mailboxes, e-mail addresses, address books...
    --- other options?
    Thanks in advance - Stefan

    Hi
If this is the requirement, I suggest we refer to the following option:
Publish MX records for fooextern.net domain on foo.com side to the Internet.
Set the fooextern.net as an accepted domain of foo.com.
For accepted domain, please refer to the following article:

  • Exchange mailbox creation for child domain

    Hi Friend,'
I want to add a child domain, some thing like group.domain.com. We have an exchange 2013 in the network, my requirement is to create 50 users in the child domain and create mail accounts for this child domain users.
My main challenge is to create the CDC and my exchange have the name space domain.com and my CDC is group.domain.com,but i want to add users in mailserver for the CDC users as [email protected]
I know how to add additional suffix in exchange and AD :
    http://www.sysguru.in/2014/09/creating-additional-suffixname-space-in.html
Is it possible to use the same scenario for my CDC users also?
    Regards

    Hi,
In your case, if you want to add additional suffix in your Exchange server in the child domain, you need to add the root domain as an accepted domain.
Here is an article about accepted domain for your reference.

  • Exchange Web Services for external O365 users w/UAG

The client has UAG in use, currently, for OWA and EAS for the on-prem mailboxes.
We have O365 Federation enabled right now using ADFS with proxies. ADFS is *not* behind the UAG firewall. sss.clientdomain.com resolves directly to the ADFS proxies. We've successfully tested the SSO redirect.
With UAG in play, how will that affect Exchange Online mailbox users who are trying to get to OWA from their home PC? The UAG proxy is set for pre-auth to the internal AD DS.
Is this going to be a problem for Exchange Online users using OWA and EAS? If so, how do I get around this? My goal is to make sure UAG is as small of a piece of this puzzle as possible, seeing it is nearing end-of-life.

Exchange Online OWA users will likely have to authenticate twice here - once to get to the on-prem Exchange server for OWA through UAG, and then again at the ADFS Proxy, after the on-prem redirection. The alternative would be
to provide Exchange Online users the separate URL, so as to connect directly to Exchange Online, and therefore only getting prompted for authentication once at the ADFS Proxy.

  • Does the Retirement of WorkSpaces impact online services for converting pdf to word?

I occasionally use Adobe to convert PDF files to Word or Excel files.  I am wondering whether the recent widely distributed email on retirement of Workspaces is relevant to me. Is the retirement of workspaces relevant to me if I am using the Adobe online service to convert PDF to Word or Excel files?  I ask this question because I do not know whether Adobe may be using Workspaces in the background whenever I request a file conversion.

No, this retirement does not affect ExportPDF.

  • Site mailboxes with Exchange Online?

    Hi All,
We would like to use Site Mailboxes with our On-Prem 2013 Ent deployment. In addition to our On-prem deployement, we also have the full O365 suite including Exchange, SharePoint, Lync, etc.
Question: Can we use Site Mailboxes in our On-prem environment, connected to Exchange online?
The tables at the bottom of the following article indicates that SharePoint Online must be included in the O365 subscription, but the notes are not clear as to whether it is a requirement to use the SharePoint Online instance of SharePoint or if we could
    use our On-Prem instance.
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/exchange-online-sharing-and-collaboration.aspx

    Hi,
According to your post, my understanding is that you wanted to use SharePoint 2013 on-prem and Exchange online for Site mailbox feature.
I’d like to briefly introduce the Site mailbox creation in SharePoint online at first. The Site mailbox is enabled by the site collection admin and the whole creation process is finished from the background. For the users who want to access the Site mailbox,
it requires the SharePoint online users to also have the Exchange online licenses.
In SharePoint on-premise, the Site Mailbox requires Exchange Server 2013 is mentioned in this SharePoint Server 2013 instruction:
Configure site mailboxes in SharePoint Server 2013.
Since Exchange on-premise includes more features and capabilities than Exchange online, I’ think it’s not feasible to integrate the SharePoint on-premise to the Exchange online service for setting up the Site Mailbox feature.

  • Can't figure out how to use Amazon SES as a smart host for Exchange Online

    Hi,
I have a problem that is proving very difficult to solve, and I'm hoping someone on here might know a bit more about this.
I am trying to configure MS Exchange Online to route all emails through Amazon SES as a relay server, however the problem is that SES seems to want you to pass it SMTP username and password credentials to authenticate with, and I don't think Exchange Online
    allows for this?
I have checked all the options in Outbound Connector section and there doesn't seem to be any place where I can choose SMTP authentication.  On Exchange 2013 and on-premise 365 Exchange solution I believe you can do this, but with pure Exchange Online
    I'm not sure...
Does anyone know whether this is possible, and if not why Microsoft doesn't allow it / if they might be intending to enable this in the near future?
    Thanks a lot in advance!
    Tom

    Thanks for the reply.
    I have some followup questions
    2. Can you explain the DNS setting in your setup ?
    Tree ---> Power--> apd.com.ph -- dlpc.apd.com.ph
    -- vec.apd.com.ph -- Andromeda.vec.apd.com.ph (DNS)
-- Pictor.vec.apd.com.ph ( additional domain server ) -> "Failed to configure in DSFW"
    1. apd.com.ph, dlpc.apd.com.ph, vec.apd.com.ph are DSfW domains or just DNS domains ?
    2. Andromeda.vec.apd.com.ph (DNS) - is this the DC of a DSfW domain ?
    3. You are adding the Additional domain controller to the vec.apd.com.ph domain right ?
    The
    # LDAPCONF=/etc/opt/novell/xad/openldap/ldap.conf /usr/bin/ldapsearch -Y EXTERNAL -s sub -b dc=ph "(objectclass=dniplocator)" dn
    Heres the result ;

result : 32 No such object
text : NDS error : no such entry (-601)
    # numResponses :1
This is strange. This ldapsearch is failing to find the locator object in the tree under dc=ph.
    - Can you try this same command from your FRD DC too and find the result ?
    - Is your server non-name mapped or your adding a DSfW server into an existing eDirectory tree (name mapped) ?
    - If it is later can you try the same search with '-b' parameter replaced with container to which FRD is mapped to into the eDirectory Tree.
    - Can you tell in your setup where are the locator object present for your first DSfW server which is acting as DNS server ?
    - While installing this ADC server, you have given the remote dns server as 192.168.81.92. In the YaST DNS screen did you do retrieve (by clicking 'retrieve' button on the screen ) or you entered those inputs manually ?
    - Another follow up question. The locator context provided to the ndsdcinit command in your first post, is 'ou=OESSystemObjects,dc=vec,dc=apd,dc=com,dc=ph'. Can you confirm your locator
    context is correct ?

    Thanks for your help

    - not sure about your script, but obviously it doesn't detect the name of your managed server LICORNE2012 since there seems to be an admin server only in that domain.
    - alternatively you might try the approach posted by the AMIS guys
Weblogic Admin and Managed servers as a Windows service
    - btw: having your domain under user_projects is not best practice (but not the problem here).
    good luck!
