Exchange OWA inbox contents deleted- when accessed by Iphone 5

My university uses Exchange/Outlook and has the OWA (Outlook Web Access) site available for checking email when offsite.
Starting last month I found that when I use my Iphone to view my OWA mail that the entire contents of my Inbox on the Exchange server instantly deletes. When new emails arrive and I check them again in the OWA, they vanish after a couple of seconds. When I log into the OWA from a laptop the messages really are gone. But if I go into 'recover deleted items' I'm able to restore them. The question is what is causing this behavior?
- When I configure my Iphone 5 account I simply go to Settings/Mail, Contacts, Calenders/Add account/Exchange.
- There's no option to make this a POP or IMAP account, select auto discovery, or delete upon reading...this is not Apple Mail...the phone simply auto configures to use https...very basic.
- I have no rules set on my desktop Outlook client.
- Logging into my OWA works normally, its only when I view it from my iphone that the inbox is deleted.
My Exchange admin is stumped. There seems to be a lot of complaints about this online but no solutions. Anyone have any ideas?

for me the "AutomateProcessing" value on the mailbox was right,
so I looked for an iPhone issue...

    Any time mail disappears from the server, there's a pretty good chance there's some device pulling it off. This can happen even without you intending it to. For example, the default Verizon setup for a long time (and possibly still) configured Outlook automatically unless you were paying attention and unchecked the box during the install.
    The easiest way to fix it is to change your password. Once the device(s) can no longer authenticate, the disappearances should stop.

    Creating a new library may have been a mistake, deleting content takes no time at all.
    I can't fully think through what you have done at this time, too late and too many beers, but generally speaking if the original files making up your library or part of it is not available because your HD is missing, a sync will skip this content and not delete it from the tv, providing you have not removed the links for the missing content from itunes.

  • All Email in inbox is deleted when trash is emptied!

    We were cleaning out our inbox and when the trash was emptied, the trash was wiped out and all emails remaining in the inbox. Where did they go? how do we get them back? What does it mean when the message says "indexing messages" when trash is emptied? Please help. Thanks.

    Proceed as follows:
    1. Quit Mail.
    2. In the Finder, go to ~/Library/Mail/POP-username@mailserver/.
    3. Locate INBOX.mbox and move it to the Desktop.
    4. Open Mail. A new empty INBOX.mbox will automatically be created within the account folder.
    This will allow you to continue using Mail normally while trying to solve the problem of bringing the messages back into Mail.
    If you ctrl-click on the INBOX.mbox package and choose Show Package Contents, you'll see several files there. mbox is the most important, as it is where the messages themselves are stored. You may also see an Incoming_Mail file that, if present, may contain additional messages.
    Both mbox and Incoming_Mail are standard mbox files that you should be able to import back into Mail doing File > Import Mailboxes and choosing Other / Standard mbox as the data format. Problem is, the mbox file is probably too big for Mail to be able to handle it.
    You may solve the problem with a third party utility, such as Emailchemy, that breaks mbox into smaller files that Mail can import afterwards.
    Note: For those not familiarized with the ~/ notation, it refers to the user's home folder, i.e. ~/Library is the Library folder within the user's home folder.

    Do you have a pop3 client (such as Outlook Express or Mac Mail) set up on a computer somwhere? Do you access your mail via any mobile devices?
    Odds are you need to check a box somewhere for leave a copy of messages on the server. If you don't have any devices set up to pull your mail, change your password.

  • Music content deleted when downloading podcasts

    I was downloading some recent podcast episodes on my touch 4 and all my music content was deleted. I synced again and the music came back but many podcast episodes were missing. I tried again after refreshing my podcast library. Now not only is all my music removed from the iPod again but so are all but 2 of my podcasts. I can't get them back on the iPod from my computer. This happened once before but a reboot and sync fixed it but not this time.
    How does this happen in the first place?

    I got it working. I was able to get into quickly get into preferences and change check podcast to from hourly to manual. From there I deleted all my podcasts and resubscribed. It appears that somewhere along the line one of the my podcast subscriptions went south.

  • Mail starts & syncs automatically when accessing Contacts [iPhone 3GS/iOS4]

    Hi all - I wonder if this query has been posted or answered before.
    I've an iPhone 3GS which is running iOS4. I have noticed off late, when I access Contacts to look up for a number, Mail starts & syncs from my Gmail account automatically (I've set Gmail as my defaut email account). I do not want that to happen since it eats up my data plan & also the battery charge. Just to inform you that I've set the fetching of emails for Mail as Manual. I've tried looking for a solution within Settings but was unable to find one.
    Can anyone tell me precisely where I am going wrong and what can be the solution to this nagging issue? thanks a ton in advance.

  • Text content lost when using attachments. iPhone 4 (iOS 5.1.1)

    When I want to add pictures to an email attachment in my iPhone 4, I usually use the Gallery App which gives me the option of sharing them in an email. When the pictures are added to the email, they are added in the body of the email. You have the option of adding text above, between, or below any pictures that you have added. However, when the email is sent and delivered to the recipient, all text between and below any pictures has been stipped away! Very Frustrating!
    Am I doing something wrong or is this just a massive bug?

    To clarify the problem I am having, I use the app named DataMan to monitor my cellular data usage, and it has a screen where it can show on an hour by hour basis which app is using data. I am seeing "Push Service" listed as using 1-5 megabytes every once in a while. I have a 200 MB data plan and this is very adequate for my own usage which is light (no streaming). I have noticed my data usage is higher than ever and the culprit appears to be the Push Service. I have actually reduced my own usage.

    Hi,
    my itunes app shuts down immediately whenever i press the podcast tab in itunes on my iphone 4. Software is up to date.
    I have no problems playing podcasts on my imac.
    Any ideas what to do?

  • Outlook 2010 / SBS2011 Exchange Emails being deleted when moved to another mailbox

    Hi All,
    I have an SBS2011 std, using exchange 2010
    User A has full access permission to mailboxes B and C
    In Outlook 2010 they have the additional mailboxes visible automatically (ie. not via the "more settings" tab in outlook set up)
    Recently when user moves a message from their inbox A, into a folder of the other mailbox B or C, or the inbox of that user, the message is very quickly deleted, and ends up having to be recovered from the "recover deleted items" section of the
    users Deleted Folder.
    (Hope that makes sense)
    Previously I understand they were able to move emails in this way, between mailboxes.
    Can anyone confirm if this should a) be possible and b) what might have changed or be going wrong?
    The server was patched and rebooted last night to try and fix the issue but it is still continuing.

    Does this issue happen to a certain user or all users in the environment?
    What if we just move emails within the same mailbox, will this issue continues?
    How did the user move the emails? If they moved by dragging/dropping, please try right clicking the email and select Move > Other Folder...
    If this issue only happen to certain user, I'd recommend you
    create a new mail profile for that use and then test again.
    In addition, do you have any antivirus software installed? If so, please disable the antivirus integration with Outlook to check the result. See:

  • Exchange (OWA) access with Nokia Messaging

    Thank you for enabling corporate mail (Exchange / OWA) is now working under Nokia Messaging.
    I summarize a few items that could be improved:
    1 In order to install this, you first need to log into the service with an online web account and only then can you install your corporate account. You can later delete the online web account. This is awkward.
    2 Within Nokia Messaging I cannot set the email address I wish to show when I send someone an email.  I use in my corporate email an alias which is slightly different from the main domain: for example if my corporate email address would be [email protected], then my alias would be [email protected]
    3 Within Nokia Messaging I cannot set the reply_to address
    4 Within Nokia Messaging I cannot accept calendar invitations. 
    5 MFE used to work fine with the 3G Portal (WAP based) access point and this saved me from using the 3G/Internet connection (payable). However, Nokia Messaging does not work on the 3G Portal access point and has to be set to 3G/Internet. This means that using Nokia Messaging will cost me more than MFE.

    Can you please tell us how did you configure OWA on Nokia messaging, because as from Nokia support team , OWA is not supported in Nokia messaging !

  • HT4913 If the music library on my iPhone will be deleted when I enable iTunes Match, does that mean that I will not be able to access that music library when I temporarily turn off iTunes Match on the iPhone, e.g., when on the subway & can't connect to Ma

    I have subscribed to iTunes Match and have employed it to listen to music on my Macbook Air and iMac.  On these devices it seems to operate by streaming music to the device rather than deleting the device's current iTunes library and downloading songs as they are played from iTunes Match. Not so on the iPhone as far as I can tell. Consequently, to date I have not activated iTunes Match on my iPhone 4S.  I presently have 40-50GB's of music on my iPhone, sync'd from my iTunes music library on my Macbook Air.  I am concerned that if I enable iTunes Match on my iPhone I will lose the music library already on my iPhone, as Apple seems to be representing that once iTunes Match is enabled on the iPhone the current music library, carefully compiled, will be gone from the iPhone forever (unless I later re-sync it from the iTunes library on my laptop), that it will be deleted.  Although this would free up a lot of space on my iPhone, I bought the 64GB phone just so that I could keep a lot of music on it and accessible at all times.  I am concerned that in certain instances, say if I am in the subway and want to listen to music on my iPhone but  don't have internet access below ground, that I won't have much music to listen to, only those songs previously played and thus downloaded onto the phone from iMatch, presenting me witrh a rather limited choice of music to play instead of the 40-50GB's I now have to choose from. Apple seems to have presented me with the choice of the lesser of 2 evils: i) enable iTunes Match and lose the music library already on the iPhone in exchange for access to iTunes Match and a greater number of songs than I can fit onto the phone (my library exceeds the phone's capacity) when a Cloud connection is available or ii) don't enable iTunes match and limit myself to only those songs, a considerable portion of my library to be sure but not all of it, that I can fit in the phone's storage space, i.e., the 40-50 GB's I have on there now.  If I choose the latter course, each time I purchase an album I'll have to delete another album to make room for it on the phone.  Apple thus offers me a sort of Hobson's choice, bad all the way around.  Do I have this right? The Apple techs I've spoken to don't seem to have a handle on the "deletion" aspect of enabling iTunes Match on the iPhone.   Right now, I'm too scared of "losing" my iPhone music library to enable iTunes Match on the iPhone. [Possible work-around, albeit a pain in the ***: I suppose that I can enable iTunes Match on the iPhone and spend the next couple of weeks 24/7 downloading songs from my iTunes Match library back onto the phone to replace at least some of those deleted when Match was enabled, thereby rebuilding a proxy library on the phone itself to play when I'm stuck in a tunnel between Brooklyn and Manhattan while maintaining access to thee larger iTunes Match library, more music than my phone will hold, once we come back into the light and my Cloud connection is restored.] Comments, suggestions will be appreciated.     Thanks so much! I am backing up the entire computer now with an external hard drive - this should be fine right? And surely if I am backing up the whole computer these projects/videos will be backed up too? I wasn't sure how to do this any other way and I am clearly not great with tech issues.     Have you tried deleting the account and re-adding it on the phone?
    What version of Exchange server are you running?
