Exchange Push Mail Issues

For the past couple of weeks I've been having issues with my device and push mail, I'll check the phone in the afternoon and it'll say last updated 10:30 - swipe to update and all my mail comes in. The device is not in Stamina mode and I've even disabled the "queue background data" option but not joy. Removed and re-added my account also, oh and cleared out all of my devices in Exchange web mail. Just downloaded TouchDown to see if its the native email application causing the issue and that works fine. I am wondering if the last software update has caused an issue, been working fine up until a few weeks ago. My father has a Moto G running off the same email service and its fine.

I had this issue and I resolved it with a widget I use (PowerToggle) as I use it for my quick access tools eg Vibrate to Loud, Torch on/off, brightness etc, and I put an auto-sync on there and leave it turned on. Not an exact fix but it works. I found before I did this that apps would turn off their auto-sync, and turning it on manually would work until I reset the phone, then it'd turn off again and would have to turn on again.

  • Exchange & Push Mail Issues (Inbox only - not other sub-folders)

got everything to work without too many problems.. I did however run into one major problem which seems like a deal killer for me..
I have pre-existing mail sorting rules on my Exchange server.. basically I have a general INBOX with several sub-folders (let's call the CLIENT-A, CLIENT-B, CLIENT-C)..
This means the Inbox looks like:
    /inbox/
    /inbox/client-a/
    /inbox/client-b/
    /inbox/client-c/
My problem is that since the mail is being pre-sorted at the mail sever directly into the sub folders, I am not seeing the NEW mail (or related marker on Mail App icon) except when it get mail that goes in the INBOX.. only email that ends up in INBOX get PUSHed.. mail that is routed to CLIENT-A or CLIENT-B requires me to manually click on their respective folders to have Mail App PULL the mail in..
Am I missing something? Can this be resolved?

yeah - this is a huge problem for my work flow.. I have been using a blackberry since 9/2001 and finding this out really stops me dead in my tracks from having myself and my employees switch to iPhones..
I really hope Steve can get the engineering folks to spend some cycles on this.. PUSH should aply to all folders, not just the inbox...

  • Exchange, Push Mail and traffic questions

    Hey there,
I've been using Gmail set up as ManagedExchange on my iPhone for a while now, mainly to achieve push mail (the
iCloud push mail was cancelled in Germany for some time due to a patent argument with Motorola, which made me look out for alternatives).
Since iOS7, users can see how much traffic system services  use (Settings->Celluar->System Services). There's an
entry for "Exchange Accounts" and it shows quite some traffic in my case. The entry for push is quite low (as you
would expect, since it's only a matter of bytes for each message).
Here's where I started wondering: Say you use ManagedExchange for email to get Gmail to push (stock mail app). Where will the traffic that is caused by that account be listed? Under "Mail.app" or under "Exchange Accounts" in
the "System Services" pane? Or will the "Mail.app" entry include most of the traffic that "Exchange Accounts" shows
(which is not the case for me)?
The next thing I'm asking myself is how the push notifications for Exchange accounts work. Are they still
centralized via the apple push servers or does the Mail.app contact the Exchange server directly? If so, I think
this could cause more battery consumption and traffic than a standard push mail service (via Apple).
If this is the case, I think I'll switch back to iCloud (push is working again in Germany) and ditch the whole Exchange thing.
Any input on this subject is greatly appreciated.
    Thanks!

    I did the following:
    1. Access OWA (https://your_domain/owa (could be something else but this is default)) via FireFox 3 (must be FireFox 3 to export the cert)
    2. Click on the 'fav' icon next to the URL. This will popup a window with information about the site you are visiting.
    3. Click on 'More information...'
    4. Go to the 'Security' tab.
    5. Click on 'View Certificate'
    6. Go to the 'Details' tab.
    7. Click on your exchange server's certificate.
    8. Click 'Export...'
    9. Save to desktop (or wherever) with .PEM extension
    10. Email that certificate to an account that you can access on your iPhone.
Follow the rest of the info in this thread. You should be all set. Push has been working well for me ever since I found this thread. The only issue is my battery life has significantly diminished. So much so, that I may turn off push after all. Hope you don't have the same issues. Good luck!

  • Exchange 2007 Mail issue, server rejecting password

    Hi all.
We have installed Exchange 2007 server today and configured it and all windows clients and iPhones. windows clients on normal RPC settings and laptops on RPC over HTTP.
Webmail has also been configured which works fine with a trusted root certificate. webmail works fine in safari also.
we have a problem configuring Mail on two SL macbooks. when running the setup and entering the password the client app comes back repeatedly and says 'The Exchange 2007 server “exchange.domain.co.uk” rejected the password for user “username” '
i have tried this on both machines and im kind of stuck since the exchange server is fully function for all other devices.
For info, the exchange server is on SP1 rollup 9. running on windows server 2008 R2 x64
i changed the outgoing server field to be the internal IP just to check and i get the prompt for the SSL (obviously since the SSL does not include the IP. i click to import and accept which it does but i still get my password rejected.
    Any ideas?

Seems like an issue with a December update. I found the following info that basically tells you to go to IIS SSL settings for the OWA (and related sites) and change the client to "accept certificate". It worked for me so hopefully this will help someone else.
The following text was found on:
    http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en/exchangesvrgeneral/thread/383d130e -869f-4fce-9502-8b340904b0ba
    EDIT: Found a fix for me potentially via - http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/exchangesvrdeploy/thread/c1e72d 2a-d360-4ff0-b2f5-1a9ae149df18 and http://www.microsoft.com/communities/newsgroups/list/en-us/default.aspx?dg=micro soft.public.exchange.admin&mid=00d4a681-f588-4eed-b4f8-5c3645e7376c&sloc=en-us
I had an issue similar to this. Win2k3 Ex07. All of my Outlook 2007
users were getting prompted over and over for the username and
password. It wasn't checking the certificate that they had installed
via internet explorer. To fix the problem, I opened IIS on the
Exchange server and checked the following directories under the
default website (the root site(default web site), oab, autodiscover).
Under the directory security tab, click Edit in the Secure
Communications section. I had the require SSL checked and the 128bit
encryption, but under Client Certificates, it was set to ignore. Once
I changed that to Accept for each of the folders, stopped and started
IIS, I stopped being prompted all the time for credentials. Hopefully
this will help someone in the future.
    Just confirmed fixed for client!!!

  • Exchange and mail issue on lion

I use a 27inch iMac with exchange for the company email. If I ever search for an email in mail I can usually find what I am looking for but after that Mail freezes. I then have to force quit to restart mail. It's not an issues on the iPhone. Help?
Any thoughts on what is happening or alternative solutions.
    I am running lion.

It's a bit more involved than one would hope.  If you do decide to move it, I'd use Method #1 here.

When I send or reply to a message from the iPhone it automatically saves the sent message on my exchange server – this is very annoying as I only ever save messages I need responses to – can this be stopped?

  • Exchange PUSH support in Mail

    Hi,
I've just setup two email accounts on Exchange servers, when I set them up on my iPhone they work perfect and I get mail pushed directly to the phone.  If I set the email accounts up as Exchange accounts in Mail I don't seem to get the emails pushed to my Mac.  Is there a way to fix this or is this an Exchange/Mail issue?

I would just like to add to this - our NHS MS Exchange is 2003 - no likelihood of upgrade in the near future. This is dreadful - I did buy the Mac because it was said Exchange connection was simple - not realising 2007 was not backwards compatible. My Office Home 2008 for Mac is no use and I am faced with a £400 upgrade to Office Pro. Sorry Apple - we do need a fix that does the job for Mac Mail and does not involve the use of more Microsoft Office software on the Mac. PS - my niece has a similar problem with her University e.mail - must be a really widespread issue.

  • Exchange 2010\Outlook Mail issues

    Hi,
I am having some issues with mail disappearing and outlook not updating. The issues are:
When sending an email from Outlook it appears in the sent items for 30 seconds in Outlook and then disappears. It never shows up in OWA The email does send though. If an email is sent via OWA the email appears and stays in both OWA and Outlook. This is
    happening in Outlook 2010\Exchange 2010
Updating issues on random folders in Outlook. This is happening on both Outlook 2013 and Outlook 2010 different users with the same Exchange 2010 back end.
Both users have cached email forced. I have tried rebuilding the mailbox locally.
    Cheers,
    Zac Avramides

    Hi,
Thanks for your detailed information about the symptom.
It seems the issue is more related to the Outlook client since OWA works fine. I suggest we can follow the checkpoints below:
    1. Rebuild Outlook profile.
    2. Disable any third-party firewall or AV programs.
    3. Run Windows in Clean Boot.
    4. Run Outlook in safe mode by “Outlook /safe”.
    What’s the result now?

  • Mail 8.2 (2070.6) - Exchange Account Authentication Issue

    Hi All,
Two days ago my Mail application started to prompt me for passwords on my exchange accounts. I would enter the passwords and then get re-prompted. I subsequently logged in to the webmail version of the exchange accounts and was able to log in without issue. Lastly, I removed all the exchange accounts from my Mail app and added them once again. I was able to add the accounts but then immediately started getting password prompts again. Anybody experiencing similar issues?

I have a mail issue and am getting the following:
The operation couldn’t be completed. (MCMailErrorDomain error 1030)
Select a different outgoing mail server from the list below or click Try Later to leave the message in your Outbox until it can be sent.
I had to go to my provider to fix the issue you're having;  OS X apparently doesn't save your password in settings...check that, it's a PITA, but the reality of the OS... Check with you provider, might be helpful as they would have lots of experience with this sort of thing.

  • Mail for Exchange, Hotmail and Push Mail

    Hi
I have set up a mail for exchange account on my Nokia E72. I am using hotmail as my mail provider. Everything works pretty fine. My mails and contacts get synchronzized with the phone.
Now, i want to use push mail to instantly receive mails. I am not able to get this feature running. In the options for the synchronization i've selecte under peak days every day of the week. Peak time i from 6:00-22:00 and sync plan is always active.
When i am sending an email to my hotmail account (within peak time) i don't get a push mail, not even after lots of minutes or hours. I have to go in my mailbox and manually press "send and receive" to get my new mails.
How can i get push mail on my E72 for my hotmail account? Many thanks in advance.
    regards,
    MrGonzo

seems like there are no Exchange server administrators in the forum, retro... sorry. I would love to help, though, but I'm just another MfE user.

  • Gmail with iPhone (Exchange) push & Apple Mail IMAP

Hi, I've managed to get a Gmail account going on an iPhone using the Exchange protocol. Push is working fine. I use Apple Mail to access the same Gmail account via IMAP.
When I reply to a message using the iPhone, the Replied flag (the little 180-degree U-turn arrow symbol) shows up next to the message in iPhone Mail, but this flag doesn't appear in Apple Mail. Likewise, if I reply to the message using Apple Mail, the Replied flag shows up in Apple Mail but not in iPhone Mail.
Basically, I would like push email, but would like the Replied flags to be shown correctly between the email programs.
I've tested this using a few other potential settings with the following results:
    * Attempt [1]: iPhone Mail accessing Gmail using the IMAP protocol (no push); Apple Mail using the IMAP protocol (push via IMAP-idle): If a message is replied using the iPhone, the Read & Replied flags are not synced to Apple Mail. However, flags produced using Apple Mail are brought across to iPhone Mail. BUT, if Apple Mail is quit & started up again, the proper Read & Replied flags are shown.
    * Attempt [2]: iPhone Mail accessing Gmail using the pre-made Gmail settings (no push); Apple Mail using the IMAP protocol (push via IMAP-idle): Same results as Attempt [1].
    * Attempt [3]: iPhone Mail accessing Gmail using Exchange (push); Apple Mail using the Exchange protocol: Can't seem to get Apple Mail working at all. Tried all sorts of settings, but no luck.
    * Attempt [4]: iPhone Mail accessing another non-Gmail server using IMAP (no push); Apple Mail using IMAP (push via IMAP-idle): Reading & replying to messages using the iPhone or Apple Mail will always correctly show the Replied flags on the other platform.
    * Attempt [5]: iPhone Mail accessing MobileMe using pre-made MobileMe settings (push); Apple Mail using MobileMe (push): Reading & replying to messages using the iPhone or Apple Mail will always correctly show the Replied flags on the other platform.
So the only way to get push email happening with correct syncing of the flags between email programs is to use MobileMe. It doesn't seem possible using Gmail, unless someone can tell me the Exchange server settings for Apple Mail so that it can be tested.

That's the way it works with Exchange, and there's no workaround until Apple fixes it. It's the same for 'regular' Exchange accounts - the replied/forwarded tags applied by the iPhone Mail app aren't seen by Outlook, and vice versa.
You can submit feedback to Apple: http://www.apple.com/feedback/iphone.html.

  • Google added as Exchange Account (mail, contacts, cal), issues with contact #'s resolving to Names.

Google added as exchange account (mail, contacts, calendar), all works except contact correlation. Meaning somebody calls me, it's in the contact list but does not show name just the #. Same for outbound calls..search contacts, tap #, phone shows I'm dialing # versus contact name. This is completely goofy. I had a previous emplorers Exchange account working perfectly before I had to delete it. I removed all email accounts from iPhone and started fresh with adding Google as Exchange 'type' account.

Ok I fixed this problem. Within Google under contacts I had imported 1,200+ contacts and they all showed up there, on my iPad and iPhone. But on the phone name and # would not correlate. I discovered that by editing a contact (within Google contacts page) it would mark it as 'My Contacts' in addition to being Imported on xx/xx/xx. Once I did this, magically my iphone call log would display the name of the contact I edited/reclassified as 'My Contacts'. So I reclassified all the contacts as 'My Contacts' and now have full functionality. End of **** story and hope this helps somebody else.

  • Exchange Mail issue

I spoke with the IT guys at my office.  I cannot get my work email through exchange on my new phone.  I've tried deleting the account and adding it back in.  I don't know what to do.  Any suggestions?????

I'm sure you're eager to be able to access your exchange server on your new iPhone 5C. Lets get things up and running for you. Are you using the exchange option when settings up the mail address? http://vz.to/1gRzGjX. This link will help assist with the set up.
You may also want to use the "other" option as well. You will have to manually enter much of the server settings but it often time can used to set up exchange e-mail addresses.
