Exchange rate customizing - SKK/EUR

As Slovakia will be joining the Euro area on 01.01.2009, I did the
currency customizing as explained in OSS Note 1231768.
In this note is mentioned to one time add the official fixed exchange rate using transaction OB08, with
validity date 01.01.1800
My problem is that our datawarehouse department needs to use the exchange rate added in OB08 with
the most recent validity date. In terms of date, the most recent rate will be the one from December and the rate will not be correct for their tools (as the correct one will have validity date 01.01.1800).
My question is can I add another line in OB08 with the official rate and validity date
01.01.2009? What are the potential impacts?
Many thanks for your help,
Regards,
Ben

Hi,
You need not worry about the OB08 entry for rate type EURO, it is needed by the system to determine the euro conversion.  You will continue to update the other rate types like M, B, G with the EUR/SKK rate till 31.12.2008.  Once you are on 01.01.2009, the currency of your country/company code will become EUR and you will not need to use any rate to convert to EUR.
BW will have no issues here, as it would also be using the rate type M, G, B etc for conversion till 31.12.2008.  You will need to carry out the changeover steps in BI also.
Cheers.

  • Utilizing different exchange rate type for same currency combination

    Hello Gurus,
I wanted to get your opinion/experience in handling the following scenario.
We have company codes in different countries operating using different local currencies. There is alternate exchange rate type  EURX defined for Exchange rate type M for many currency combinations due to business requirements. One country with local currency EUR is utilizing EURX SEK - EUR exchange rate combination.
Other country with local currency HUF is making use of exchange rate type MNB as an alternate exchange rate. In one of its transaction, where VAT is being calculated on its foreign transaction, HUF company is trying to seek rate of MNB SEK- EUR where country currency is SEK and document currency is EUR.
But since on the 'translation ratios for currency translation' table EURX being the alternate currency for that particular combination, even when we set MNB SEK EUR exchange rate, the system is obviously picks up EURX rate.
Has anyone come across similar scenario where different countries trying to get different exchange rate types for the same combination of currency? and If so, how would that be possibly handled through config or using something custom?
Thanks all for your replies in advance.
    Regards,
    Sagar K.

    Hi Sagar,
In tcode OBBS, if Alt.exchange rate is used for any currency pair, then that rate is used ( EURX in this case).
All countries in EMU region uses EURX ( which is mostly fixed after introduction of EUR).
If the company is in different countries in Europe, then mostly EUR is used as Alt. exchange rate. which uses EUR as reference currency.
Ther is no country specific settings in std. sap for a currency pair.

  • Currency exchange rate problem when posting to CO-PA

    Hi Experts,
we get error when posting a credit memo saying that there is a missing exchange rate between MXN and USD. The document currency is MXN (Mexican peso), company code currency is EUR and operating concern currency is USD. The document posts to CO-PA.
We have exchange rates for MXN/EUR and EUR/USD but not for MXN/USD.
How the system recalculates the currencies?
Do we just have to enter the MXN/USD rate or is there any other customizing we should check?
In country global parameters for Mexico in fields 'index-based currency' and 'hard currency' is entered USD. Does this matters to this problem?
    Thank you,
    Michal

    Hi Michal,
concerning your quastion pls consider follwing:
Usually the foreign currency will be the  transaction currency of the sender document in case you are dealing with
    billing documents.
However it's also possible that the amount in operating concern currency is translated based on company code curreny.
In  this case the PA line item will then contain the company code currency  as foreign currency.
This translation logic is described in the  note 429517.
I hope, it could you help to understand translation logic.

Do I need to maintain exchange rate inOB08 for EUR to EUR conversion? Or is there any other setting?
    Regards
    Anand

    Hi,
No need to maintain conversion between EUR to EUR.
We'll take one currency as standard for conversions.
In our case for every currency we have to maintain conversion for USD
    EUR to USD
    USD to EUR
    INR to USD
    USD to INR
May be you have to maintain like above.

  • Exchange rate EURX not calculate exchange rates between USD and GBP

We have set ExRt as following:
    Exrt          Usage       Ref. crcy
    EURX     EMU      EUR
we have "EMU" flag checked also.
We are maintaining exchange rates (EURX) for EUR with all others currencies.
We expected that, if we have a CoCode set in GBP and we post a document in USD, SAP will calculate GBP <->USD from exchange rates EURX(USD/EUR) and EURX(GBP/EUR). It seems to be incorrect because the system is ignoring EURX exchange rates and using "M" GBP-USD exchange rate and this was not expected by us.
Could you please tell me if it is correct to expect SAP calculates USD-GBP Exchange rates from EURX(USD/GBP) Exrate or I am wrong and I need to maintain "M" exchange rates for USD-GBP.
    Thanks in advance

    Hi,
Please check the following settings :
Go to IMG --> General Settings ---> Currencies ---> Check Exchange Rate types
Select the Exchange Rate Euro and check mark the EMU check box . Save it

  • Exchange rate difference while cancellation

    All,
I have done MIGO for Imported items .
    Accounting entries generated .
Suppose Exchange rate is 1 EUR = 5 EGP
Suppose it is dr : 100 EUR (stock)
                        Cr:  90 EUR (GR-IR)
                PPV Cr : 10 EUR
While doing the MIGO Cancellation for same document ( 102 Mvt type ) ,
    Accounting entries reversed ,
    but coming as different .
            Cr : 99 EUR
            Dr : 90 EUR
    PPV Dr : 9   EUR
But while displaying in Local currency , entries while MIGO and also for reverse are absolutely same .
    How this is happening ?
    Kindly advise.
    regards

    Hi,
You cannot make the default setting for exchange rate fix in PO. When you make the ex.rate fix you need to enter the exchange rate in the adjacent field. This rate value may be as per the billing of ladding date or Letter of indent date depending on your business. Therefore in case of import PO please check /change the rate and fix it before making the GR.

  • How to distribute exchange rate difference to material with moving average price?

    Hi community,
Exchange rate differences are not distributed into the items based on the shipment (per article/material). Is there a workaround available based on the GR/IR exchange rate difference and the material that was purchased?
    Thank you and best regards,
    Barbara Dörr

    Hi Lokesh,
thanks a lot for the quick answer, but I
had read this documentation and only found this documentation of exchange rate
    difference posting:
GR/IR clearing uses the exchange rate of
the goods receipt. The GR/IR clearing run completely clears Unbilled Payables
and Purchases in Transit. The run calculates price differences of EUR 155 and exchange rate differences of EUR
    135. The price differences are posted to the price difference account and the
exchange rate differences to the exchange rate difference account.
Therefore I guessed that the exchange
rate differences are NOT distributed to the material with moving average price.

  • Exchange rate translation logic for FI and CO

    Dear FI gurus
I have question about exchange rate setting.
    - Controlling area currency: USD
    - Object currency/Company code currency: JPY
    - Transaction currency : JPY
    - Inverted exchange rate indicator : deactivated.
(So, exchange rate is maintained by each country's subsidiary)
In this case, according to SAP's help,
    - Controlling area currency: Converted from Transacton currency(EUR) to Controlling area currency(USD)
    - Object currency: Converted from Controlling area currency(USD) to Transaction currency(JPY)
This means that if transaction currency is JPY100, object currency is NOT JPY100, right?
(Because cross rate reference is deactivated and JPY->USD and USD->JPY is different rate)
On the other hand, in FI(OB22), I setup Group Currency which is USD.
In FI, translation logic can be selected whether "From transaction currency" or "From first local currency".
But still different logic from CO side.
So, it seems GL and Controlling area has different translation logic.
How normally global companies manage it?
    Yoshi

    Dear Yoshi-san,
For a global company, e.g. COMPANY ABC (head office in the USA) has different legal entities in different countries (Japan, Singapore) where the local currencies are different. In my opinion below set up is normal.
    Controlling Area ABC
Assuming all companies (ABC, DEF, GHI) are assigned to controlling area ABC.
Controlling area currency (for controlling area ABC) : USD
    COMPANY ABC (Head office)
             Company code currency : USD
             Object currency : USD
        2. COMPANY DEF (Japan entity)
            Company code currency : JPY
            Object currency : JPY
        3. COMPANY GHI (Singapore entity)
            Company code currency : SGD
            Object currency : SGD
Let say for Japan entity, a document of JPY100 (transaction currency or document currency) has been posted. The amount in company code currency is JPY100; amount in object currency will be JPY100; amount in controlling area currency will be USD0.99. (maintain exchange rate table: 100 JPY = 0.99 USD).
If another document of EUR100 (transaction currency or document currency) has been posted. Then the amount in company code currency is JPY 13,800 (maintain exchange rate table 1 EUR = 138 JPY; amount in object currency will be JPY 13,800; amount in controlling area currency will be USD136. (maintain exchange rate table: 1 EUR = 1.36 USD).
As for the third document of USD100 (transaction currency or document currency) has been posted. Then the amount in company code currency is JPY 10,100 (maintain exchange rate table 1 USD = 101 JPY; amount in object currency will be JPY 10,100; amount in controlling area currency will also be USD100, no translation is required.
    Kind regards,

  • Exchange rate maintaining program/Euro Customizing

    Hi,
Can any on eplease guide me how can I maintain exchane rates with any program. Are there any available ?
DO I need to maintain exchange rates like following
USD to AED and AED to USD with direct quote
AT times I get green error Eueo customizing not maintained. There are couple of notes.Out of that one note is 135661.
It is so descriptive and confusing that one may get lost in it.I am pretty sure that many prople have come across this problem. Can anyone please suggest me the exact steps to be performed to eliminate this and what is the severity of this green error ?
SAP notes at times are crazy.Instead of suggesting good short solution they will take you round the trees..This one I mentioned is like that.
Also this notes talks of old versions.
    I am using ECC 6.0
    Thansk in advance
    Regards,
    manOO

    Hi,
You need not worry about the OB08 entry for rate type EURO, it is needed by the system to determine the euro conversion.

  • Customer exchange rate issue

    Hello to everyone,
we are facing an issue with customer exchange rate.
We have a customer belong to a company which pay in EUR while this customer has USD as currency in MASTER DATA.
in the quotation (tcode VA23) the price is not picked correctly and it seems the system does a convertion from USD to EUR.
Since the billing is in USD and the invoices are in USD the system shouldn't do this convertion.
Do you know how we can fix this issue?
    Thank You

Why you want a alternative way ?
Your company code currency is EUR and you are paying to the customer in USD. So system will calculate the amount with exchange rate.
System will always calculate the amount as per company code currency. So system is taking the exchange rate calculation.
It is the standard logic, how can system less / add the amount which bill or invoice has the different currency.
If you do not want to do any calculation from exchange rate, then your all currencies has to be same.
Anywhere if system will find a different currency, then system will always calculate the amount as per company code currency via exchange rate calculation.

  • Currencies Exchange rate per Customer

    Hi Experts,
Is there anyway in SAP to maintain Currencies Exchange rate per Customer. For e.g. the customer's currency is EUR and my local currency is USD.
Meaning we want to maintain a fixed exchange rate for that particular customer, so during creation of Sales Order, system take this fixed rate instead of taking FI - Currencies Exchange Rate table.
    Thanks,
    Kiran D

    Hi Kiran,
Just check the Currency field available in the customer master Sales Area Data --> Sales tab. The currency maintained in this field is determined in Sales order.
    Hope it works.
    REWARD if it helps you!!

  • SGD Exchange Rate Difference JE appears in Customer Aging Report

    Dear Experts,
    SAP Version: 8.81
    Local Currency: SGD
We perform Exchange Rate Difference for a USD BP to calculate the unrealized gain/loss during month-end, JE created successfully.
Next, we go to Customer Aging Report and select this USD BP.
When i choose to view the Aging Report in Local Currency, the USD Invoice will appear in SGD + Exchange Rate Difference JE in SGD, the total balance can appear in SGD with no problem.
When i choose to view the Aging Report in BP Currency, the USD Invoice will appear in USD + Exchange Rate Difference JE in SGD, i can't see the total balance as it is appeared as xxxxx.
Above is the behaviour in 881.
Last time in SAP 2005, when i choose to view the Aging Report in BP Currency, the Exchange Rate Difference JE in SGD will not appear, therefore i can see the total balance in USD.
What is your opinion about the behavior in 881? Will you consider it as design or issue?

    Dear all,
