Exchange Rate difference in MIGO

Hello members,
During MIGO, a material document is created and subsequently an accounting document is created.
BADI has been developed as per the business requirement to post the accounting document by
taking the exchange rate as on the Document Date, wheras, the rate taken as per Material document is
posting date.  Subsequently when IR is done, the sytem takes the reference of Material document
as per posting date and the exchange rate is taken as on posting date.  On account of GR accounting
document(as per document date) and GR Material document(as per posting date), there exists a
difference and posted to expense account.  The business requirement is the system should take
only document date for GR and IR and hence there should not be any exchange rate difference.
Whether ticking the fixed rate in exchange rate in PO will suffice or we have to make some other
settings & developments.  Kindly guide.
Thanks in advance,
Sadashivan

Hi Jeyakanthan,
If we check the fixed rate, the system will pick the same rate in IR as it was in GR(Material document), the rate on the
posting date valid as per OB08. But the accounting document created for GR is as per document date which is
different from posting date and rate prevailing on document date is different.  Hence, there will be a difference in the
exchange rate in GR and IR accounting documents.  Any idea how the system can pick the rate as per document
date in accounting document of GR for IR postings instead of posting date?
Thanks and regards,
Sadashivan

    Hi Monika
Please also exchange how you have set up the treatment of exchange rate differences for your company code for LIV under the path:
IMG>Materials Management>Logistics Invoice verification> Incoming Invoice>Configure how exchange rate differences are treated
Check if you have N or X maintained here. If you have any of this config, you will need to maintain the GL Account in KDM as well

  • Exchange rate difference not getting posted to KDM account during MIGO/MIRO

    Hello Gurus,
I have a purchase order with many line items. For some of the line items, the exchagne rate difference between the date of MIGO and the date of MIGO is taken to the KDM account. But for some other line items, it is not being taken the KDM. For such line items, the value of the GR/IR account in the local currency is different from MIGO to MIRO. Due to this, the GR/IR clearing is not happening automatically.
Do you have any idea, why the system is not taking the different to KDM for some line items and taking it correctly to KDM for others.
The only difference that I noticed between these 2 line items was
In case where the KDM account is determined, the GR was done for only one line item
In case where the KDM was not determined, the GR was done for more than one line item.
Thanks in advance for your replies

    Hi Venkatesh,
I suspect that in your system may be the setting in OMRW is not activated. If the CCurr indicator is not activated for respective company code. Please refer to the information from note 980402 :
After you implement this note, you can use Customizing transaction OMRW to make settings for the new logic for each company code and each currency (the first local currency and two other material ledger currencies, if the material ledger is active). If the CCCurr indicator (V_169P_PK-KDHW) is set, this activates a new logic for calculating the exchange rate difference (KDM amount) in the company code currency (first local currency). As a result, the system also generates KDM lines for purchase orders with account assignment and for purchase orders with MAP materials in inventory management and in invoice verification if required. If the material ledger (ML) is active, you  can set a corresponding indicator for additional ML currencies.Bear in mind that the system performs a 1:1 cancellation for the KDM line in the cancellation transactions.
If the indicator is not activated, then the new logic for calculating the exchange rate difference is not active.
    I hope this helps.

  • MIGO exchange rate difference incorrectly.

In transaction MIGO exchange rate difference lines are generated for planned delivery costs. In some cases we found the difference exchange rate comes from the exchange rate of the purchase order, and other times we cannot find where the difference comes from. Both cases are incorrect.
Note 1278540 has already been inplemented.
    Any idea?
    Thanks,
    Cecilia

    hi,
If you make the exchange rate as Fixed via using the indicator in the PO header, then system will take this while GR and IR....if not maintained, then system will take from EKAB table...

  • Exchange rate difference while posting ME21N MIGO and MIRO

    Hi All,
I am facing one problem with exchange rate type between M and EURX  and EURX is maintanined in the SPRO>SAP Netweaver>General Settings>currencies>Check Exchange rate types
    EXRT :  EURX
    Usage    :  EMU Reg,fixed
    Ref.Curr    : EUR
    Buy.ra.at
    Sall .Rat.At
    Inv
    EMU   :X
    FIXED
    Scenario:
Company(USD) is maintaning Exchange rate type: M and no exchange rates are maintained for USD:EUR or EUR:USD.
Eur is maintaing in Exchange rate type EURX.
    1) PO (ME21N) is posting for the Vendor on posting date 01/01/2008. Transaction currency is EUR and company code currency is USD and Quantity : 25000
--> Exchange rate 'M' is not maintained for EUR and values are picking from the EURX Type. In the PO, Exchange rate is picking correctly from the EURX table entries on 01/01/2008.
    2) MIGO: GR  is posted on 01/25/2008 and with 15000 Quantity. Exchange rate is getting currecly from the table on 01/25/2008.
    3) MIRO: IR is posted on 02/15/2008 and Vendor Account is picking correct exchange rate from the table but GR/IR account is caluculations EUR:USD is differntly .
Note: It is not GR based IR.
    Ex:
PK AC                DESCRIPTION                    Tran Curr (EUR)    Local Curr  USD
    31 5004789     Vendor Account                       24,718.48-            38,777.12- USD
    86 2525000      A/P-GR/IR NON-INV                24,718.48            38,883.73  USD
    91 6584785      SERV-OTHER O/S                    0.00                 106.61- USD
Here GR/IR account is cal dirrently.
    4) Credit Memo posted against IR on 03/25/2008. Exchange rate is given while posting CM same as Invoice. But system rate is different. Here also how the GR/IR is calculating is question is it not taking from Table or from any other rate types . Same problem like IR for GR/IR account.
    Entry is posted like
PK  ACC         Description                            Tran curr(EUR)  Local curr(USD)
    21 5004789     Vendor                                   24,718.48        38,777.13  USD
    96 2525000     /P-GR/IR NON-INV                   24,718.48-      38,892.22- USD
    81 6584785     SERV-OTHER O/S                     0.00            115.09  USD
This problem is same like GR and also SPL document is posting differenly for ZG and ZL ledger.
ZL ledger is posting same like Accounting CM document ZG is posting with the different amount . This different amount is nothing but the exchange rate as per the posting date 03/25/2008. Exchange rate on 03/25/2008 is differe from IR date 02/15/2008 .
ZL ledger is calculating based on the 02/15/2008 date and ZG ledger is calculating based on the 03/25/2008 . Difference between Exchange rate entered in the CM and 03/25/2008 table entry rate is showing exchange rate difference field in the Addtional field in the document display.
    Thanks in Advance.

    Dear Friends,
Thanks for your helpful answers, actually we are in big export business. So we have to clear 100s of invoice lines with payments at one go, (which obviously being booked at different dates) so it would be very difficult for the user to go one by one invoice.
My concern is, why system does not calculate exchange rate difference based on actual documents, i.e. Invoice to payments only. I think there might be some configuration needed to implement this functionality.
    Please help.

  • Exchange Rate difference posting during MIRO posting

    Hi ,
We are facing an issue for exchange rate difference posting during MIRO.
PO creation , GR posting & IR posting done on same date. Vendor in PO has different currency than company code currency. Exchange rate maintained in OB08 for this period is taken in PO.
PO value & GR value is same. Due to raw material cost there was price difference posted during GR posting.
(i.e. Raw material cost - GR/IR value = Price difference amount)
During posting MIGO, 3 accounts got posted.
Raw material cost account got debited & offset credit to GR/IR account & price difference account (in vendor & company code currency also)
During posting MIRO, 4 accounts got posted.
Vendor account got credited with GR/IR amount & offset to GR/IR account debit.
Exchange rate difference account got credited & offset to price difference account (in company code currency only)
Since PO creation , GR posting & IR posting done on same date, then why system has posted exchange rate difference account in local currency only during MIRO posting ?
    Your inputs appreciated.
    Thanks & Regards

    Hi,
there is a setting in configuration of logistics invoice verification where you can control the calculation and posting of exchange rate differences. If you had the setting active that exchange rate differences are calculated against a planned exchange rate, that might lead to the kind of postings you describe. Please check.
    best regards,   Udo

  • Exchange rate difference in goods receipt

    Hi all,
can I manage in the goods receipt (transaction MIGO) the exchange differences with the purchase order?
    For example:
    Oda $ 1000 - exchange rate at 10.04.2009 $ - Euro 1.27
    Oda total in Euro 1270
when I post the goods receipt after 20 dayt (30.04.2009) - the exchange rate has changed to $ - Euro 1.31
In the document accounting of goods receipt is also possible to manage the exchange rate difference?
    thanks.
    best regards, Gaetano

    Hi
It is not posible to enter the prevailing exchange rate during GR or any kind of entry duriing entry for exchange. If you are a maintainting the table in OB08  for the indicator M then it will pick the last exchange rate from the table during GR. If you wish to change the do it IN PO header and fix it before carrying out GR for the PO.  Document settings & behaviour for exchange during GR and other activities can be controlled by means of the indicator assignment in OBA7. You can always adjust the rates in MIRO also manually.

  • Settlement of exchange rate difference

    Hi All,
After doing final payment of PO in which Network is used as cost object, i.e. through transaction F-58, and if the PO is of import nature and in different currency, an automatic line item of exchange rate difference occurs. While doing settlement of the Network to roll up its related amount to main project, all amount gets settled while exchange rate difference and liquidity damages does not. Isn't PS tightly integrated with FI in such cases? Any suggestions on how to settle such amount?
    Thanks
    -Nayab

    Hi,
You said about automatic creation of new line item for exchange rate difference, What is the Item category for the new line item? to which cost object is this line item account assigned ? For it flow back in to Network, it should be account assigned to Network. If creation of this new line item is achieved thru development, then also update it to account assign the new line item to Network.
When you post the GR for a P.O , GR/IR acct is credited and Inventory acct is debited by the material proce. If it proj spec item and Non stock then cost is recognised as actual cost in project.
Any difference amount occured during MIRO, GR/IR account is debited by same amount as it was credited while MIGO and Difference amount goes to Price Diff account. And vendor is credited by the MIRO amount.
Vendor Credit = Debit GR/IR + Debit Price Diff account.
At period end you can distirbute the cost from Price Diff account to Orgin objects of cost i.e project. Catch here will be to identify how to distribute to each proj from Price Diff account. May be you can think of some common % or use SKF (Statstical Key Figure).
    Thanks

  • Not able to post exchange rate difference in GL account configured in OBYC-

    Hi Guys,
As per my client requirement, We need to post exchange rate difference(PO & in IR) in GL account. I have configured setting in OBYC - Transaction key is KDM. Also i have selected check box for company code, at spro>MM>Logistics Invoice Verification>Incoming Invoice>Configure How Exchange Rate Differences Are Treated.
Still system is not able to pick the GL account which is defined in OBYC.
    Please help.
    Steps i have carried out:
    1. Assigned GL account in OBYC, Transaction key KDM
    2. selected check box for company code, at spro>MM>Logistics Invoice Verification>Incoming Invoice>Configure How Exchange Rate Differences Are Treated.
    3. Post PO (with some exchnage rate say 1.25)
    4.Post MIGO
    5. POST MIRO (Exchange rate is 1.50), Here when i simulate or post, the GL account is not picking to post difference.
    M i missing any config????
    I appreciate your help a.s.a.p,.
    Thanks
    Akshay

According to me, system wont calculate exch rate differences during MIRO.
Please make sure that, you have not selected the Exch Rate Fixed check box in PO header part, next to the exch rate field.
    MIGO Entry:
    Inventory/Expense  Dr 100USD   5000INR
    GR/IR......................Cr 100USD   5000INR
    MIRO Entry:
    GR/IR......................Dr 100USD   4700INR
    Vendor....................Cr 100USD    4700INR
In this case, system will create  0 USD & 300 INR for forex diff gl line item, when you clear the GR/IR open items only.
    Assume INR is your LC.

    Hi Uma,
Exchange Rate has been defined both the end. Like INR = USD and USD = INR.
Here you are not yet defined GL account for Exchange Rate Difference account (Gain or Loss).
    T.Code OB09 Define G/L , Currency and Currency Type.
Before that you would have the GL account please create in FS00.
    Hope it will help you.

  • Exchange rate difference between MIRO and GR/IR

    Hi,
Exchange rate difference between MIRO and GR/IR we need to written off as a expense for imported w/off expense and in case of assets we need to post exchange rate difference to exchange fluctuation account. Currently exchange rate difference is accounting under capital work in progress(Asset)instead of exchange fluctuation.
    Thanks in Advance
    Regards
    Venkata Suresh

    Hi,
At MIRO stage, after entering PO number system will automatically populate the GRN value for selection. Here if you found that invoice value, which you have received from the vendor, is more than the system proposed amount, then you can adjust that diff amount in the GL account tab, which is next to PO reference tab in MIRO.
There enter the exch loss GL account and enter the diff amount.
    Thanks,
    Srinu.

  • SGD Exchange Rate Difference JE appears in Customer Aging Report

    Dear Experts,
    SAP Version: 8.81
    Local Currency: SGD
We perform Exchange Rate Difference for a USD BP to calculate the unrealized gain/loss during month-end, JE created successfully.
Next, we go to Customer Aging Report and select this USD BP.
When i choose to view the Aging Report in Local Currency, the USD Invoice will appear in SGD + Exchange Rate Difference JE in SGD, the total balance can appear in SGD with no problem.
When i choose to view the Aging Report in BP Currency, the USD Invoice will appear in USD + Exchange Rate Difference JE in SGD, i can't see the total balance as it is appeared as xxxxx.
Above is the behaviour in 881.
Last time in SAP 2005, when i choose to view the Aging Report in BP Currency, the Exchange Rate Difference JE in SGD will not appear, therefore i can see the total balance in USD.
What is your opinion about the behavior in 881? Will you consider it as design or issue?
    Thanks.

    Dear all,
This problem is no longer there when upgrade to 881 Patch 08.

  • Problem while 're-posting' a cancelle Invoice with Exchange Rate Difference

    Hi Gurus,
We are facing a problem while re-posting an Invoice with Exchange Rate Difference. I say re-posting because this invoice was previously posted and reversed on the same date. Here is the scenario along with the relevant postings:
    1)
G/R is posted in September when the exchange rate for dollar was, say, Rs. 49 = 1 USD.
    Posting:
    Service A/C.....100 USD (Rs. 4900)
         To SR/IR Clearing A/C...100 USD (Rs. 4900)
    2)
MIRO is done in October, when the exchange rate was, say, Rs. 48 = 1 USD. Thus, the exchange difference posting was done in the respective accounts.
    Posting:
    SR/IR Clearing A/C......100 USD (Rs. 4900)
To Vendor A/C...........90 USD (Rs. 4320)
To TDS A/C..............10 USD (Rs.  480)
To Exch. Difference A/C. 0 USD (Rs.  100)
This was the correct entry, however we missed out some TDS codes and thus needed to reverse this entry and repost it.
    3)
Now this invoice was reversed (T.Code MIRO) in october itself on exactly the same date on which invoice was created, and it resulted in the following postings:
    Vendor A/C......90 USD (Rs. 4320)
    TDS A/C.........10 USD (Rs.  480)
         To SR/IR Clearing A/C...100 USD (4800, i.e. 48 * 100, Rs.48 being the exchange rate in october)
    4)
Now when we try to post MIRO again, it is posting the following entry:
    SR/IR Clearing A/C......97.96 USD (Rs. 4800)
Exch. Difference A/C.....2.04 USD (Rs.    0)
         To Vendor A/C........... 85 USD (Rs. 4080)
         To TDS1 A/C............. 10 USD (Rs.  480)
         To TDS2 A/C.............  5 USD (Rs.  240)
This is a wrong entry. SR/IR clearing A/C should have been debited by 100 USD (Rs. 4900), and the Exch. Rate difference account should have been credited by 0 USD (Rs. 100)
Can someone please help us with this. What the system seems to be doing is, that when the Invoice was reversed, the value that got reversed for SR/IR Clearing A/C was 100 USD but with Rs. 4800 instead of Rs. 4900. Now, when we try to repost the invoice, the system divided this value by the exchange rate prevalent in September, i.e. Rs. 49, thus the resultant value 97.96 USD (i.e.  4800 / 49).
    Please help.
    Thanks!
    Regards,
    Angad Nagpal

    Solved.
The final entry is correct, as the net result in the G/L balances is the same. For further information please refer to notes 116250 and 46564.
    Thanks!

  • Unexplained exchange rate difference

We have created a delivery plan in USD (our local currency is EUR) without fixing exchange rate. This plan has a received several GR and IV at different rates. The material is valuated at standar value.
    D.Plan: Rate A , price 15,96 USD/UN
month 1 - GR and IV at rate B
month 2 - GR and IV at rate C
month 3 - GR and IV at rate D
All invoices are posted at a price of 14,32 USD.
In month 1 we had price difference due to differences with the standard price. That was correct.
In month 2 the system has posted unexpected exchange rate differences (key DM). We don't understand them as fas as GR and IV were posted at the same rate.
Could it be that the system is using the rate of the first IV? We wonder the way SAP is calculating that exchange rate difference?
