Exchange rate translation logic for FI and CO

Dear FI gurus
I have question about exchange rate setting.
- Controlling area currency: USD
- Object currency/Company code currency: JPY
- Transaction currency : JPY
- Inverted exchange rate indicator : deactivated.
(So, exchange rate is maintained by each country's subsidiary)
In this case, according to SAP's help,
- Controlling area currency: Converted from Transacton currency(EUR) to Controlling area currency(USD)
- Object currency: Converted from Controlling area currency(USD) to Transaction currency(JPY)
This means that if transaction currency is JPY100, object currency is NOT JPY100, right?
(Because cross rate reference is deactivated and JPY->USD and USD->JPY is different rate)
On the other hand, in FI(OB22), I setup Group Currency which is USD.
In FI, translation logic can be selected whether "From transaction currency" or "From first local currency".
But still different logic from CO side.
So, it seems GL and Controlling area has different translation logic.
How normally global companies manage it?
Yoshi

Dear Yoshi-san,
For a global company, e.g. COMPANY ABC (head office in the USA) has different legal entities in different countries (Japan, Singapore) where the local currencies are different. In my opinion below set up is normal.
Controlling Area ABC
Assuming all companies (ABC, DEF, GHI) are assigned to controlling area ABC.
Controlling area currency (for controlling area ABC) : USD
COMPANY ABC (Head office)
         Company code currency : USD
         Object currency : USD
    2. COMPANY DEF (Japan entity)
        Company code currency : JPY
        Object currency : JPY
    3. COMPANY GHI (Singapore entity)
        Company code currency : SGD
        Object currency : SGD
Let say for Japan entity, a document of JPY100 (transaction currency or document currency) has been posted. The amount in company code currency is JPY100; amount in object currency will be JPY100; amount in controlling area currency will be USD0.99. (maintain exchange rate table: 100 JPY = 0.99 USD).
If another document of EUR100 (transaction currency or document currency) has been posted. Then the amount in company code currency is JPY 13,800 (maintain exchange rate table 1 EUR = 138 JPY; amount in object currency will be JPY 13,800; amount in controlling area currency will be USD136. (maintain exchange rate table: 1 EUR = 1.36 USD).
As for the third document of USD100 (transaction currency or document currency) has been posted. Then the amount in company code currency is JPY 10,100 (maintain exchange rate table 1 USD = 101 JPY; amount in object currency will be JPY 10,100; amount in controlling area currency will also be USD100, no translation is required.
Kind regards,
John Chin

<b>No exchange rate from CAD to USD and date 28.02.2007 found (currency transl. TRAV/TRAV)
      Notification Number BRAIN 380 </b>
    <b>
I am getting this message for only 4 months i.e March April,May,June but rest of months its fine.</b>
Currency translation is done in query with a variable.
    I tried the following solutions:
1.transfer Exchange rates from source systems Via Program :RSIMPCURR
2.I checked in Table <b>TCURR</b> and there exists a exchange rates between CAD to USD.
3.I checked TCODE:  RSCUR the variable exists and created properly.
4.I searched through forums but none of them present a clear solution.
<b>SO can somebody help me to solve this error ,its very urgent</b>
    null

So check in OB08 which gives the overview of Currency Exchange Rates for each month.Check what is the exchange rate maintained for the months u r looking into.
Else ask the users what exchange rates they maintained for those months and upload the exchange rates for those months.
Here is the link which will explain how to load the exhange rates.

  • AP- Why exchange rate type between Post invoice and Post payment is differe

AP- Why exchange rate type between Post invoice and Post payment is different ?
    Hello,
    I have question
when post AP invoice , document type KR
    document date = 11.12.2009
    posting date = 31.12.2009
    entry date = 05.01.2010
this document using exchange rate type B (standard translation at bank selling rate) on 31.12.2009 (use posting date )
but when post payment for above document, document type ZP
    document date = 25.06.2010
    posting date = 25.06.2010
    entry date = 24.06.2010
this document using exchange rate type M (standard translation at average rate) on 23.06.2010
    please answer
why do post invoice and post payment use different exchange rate type?
and why at payment donot use posting date for get exchange rate ?

    Nanas,
Sorry if im not  being clear...
My point is: the difference rates customization for payments is done at FBZP.
At Paying Company Codes, you have 4 flags for exchange rates differentes.
    At Control Data look:
*Do not Post any Exchange Rate Differences:
If the indicator is not set, the difference between the exchange rate at the time of posting and the exchange rate at the time of payment is determined for items which are posted in foreign currency. The payment program uses the translation rate in the currency table in the system for this purpose.
*No Exchange Rate Differences for Partial Payments:
Has the effect that the payment program for partial payments (requests for payment using transaction F-59) does not post exchange rate differences.
*Processing of Bill of Exchange Payments:
*Separate Payment for each Payment Reference

  • Exchange Rate difference between PO , GR and IR

    Hi All,
I have a question, Does anyone know how to handle the PO exchange rate difference between PO , GR and IR time.
    For example
    1.  PO creation on Jan 2009  - exchange rate = 1.2
    2.  GR creation on Feb 2009 - exchange rate = 1.5
    3.  IR  creation on March 2009 - exchange rate = 1.7
Should GR and IR use the PO exchange rate # 1 for posting or use the current exchange # 2 for GR and #3 for IR ?
    Thank you
    Alex

    Hi Alex,
The exchange rates in PO and GR and IR will be different as if you have are updating the rates per month in system so it will changed.

I am considering buying a new MAC laptop to run LOGIC for composition and band live/recording, but which one is best as I do not want to spend too much money?

Also, I am guessing as Logic only runs on MAC surely then they would not the best spec to recommend to run it?
I see all the upgrades as additional memory or a faster process?
Is a retina screen necessary, and why flash based storage against a 1TB hard drive, and a i5 instead of an i7
The main reason for this purchase is to play live and use backing tracks and record found sounds and make creative songs.
I hope you can provide some valuable feedback, as I am a longtime MAC user and see upgrades and changes happen regularly but the most important thing is the songs not the equipment.
I have £500 already and willing to add another 500 to 700 pounds, then software extra.

Can one move or upload a garageband project done on an iPad into logic for further and finer tweaking?

Share your GarageBand iPad project to iTunes as a project. Then you can import it into GarageBand and upgrade it to a GarageBand Mac project. And Logic can open GarageBand for Mac projects.

  • Exchange rate in case of equity and dividend.

    Hi experts,
I required your help, please see below request and help.
I have created a equity (stock) transaction in foreign currency using t.code - TS01
My purchase in USD ( for ex. 10000 USD). At the time of purchase i am able to put an exchange rate manually and that's fine
It is also generating my dividend entry through security master condtion (FWZZ) in USD. here i am not able to change my exchange rate in case of dividend can u please help me how we can manually change an exchange rate in case of condition item.
We have a facility to change an exchange rate in loan module but not able to figure out how we can change a exchange rate in securities module.
    Please help
    Regards
    Gaurav Gupta

    Hi,
Since you updated the Exch rate manually it applies the same rate for Dividend as well. Please upload fresh Exch Rate for fresh date using OB08.
You may need to maintain this table on a periodic basis as Foreign currency is involved in the position.

  • Exchange Rate Type Specific for ICB

    Hi fiends,
In our company, we're currently using exchange rate type USDX (it was defined in OBBS, where the exchange rate type "M" is assigned to "USDX" (which we're updating on a daily basis).
However, for the ICB (intercompany business process) I don't wanto to use the exchange rate type USDX, I want to use the exchange rate type ICB, which we will maintain on a periodic basis.
What customzing should I activate to enable the system to distinguish when to use the the ICB exchange rate type (for ICB PO's)?
I don't can't default the exchange rate type in the document type level (OBA7), because we use the same document type for ICB and non-ICB PO's.
    Thanks in advance.
    Alex.

    Hi Alex,
You should update the OB22 and assigned the parallel currencies with the right Exchange rate. Instead of assign USDX or M, you might choose another ExRteType for this inrco comapany.

  • Fix Exchange Rate Translation

    Hi,
    Legal Requirement
We have a statuary requirement where one Company Code needs to use the local Fix Exchange Rate that is provided by the local national bank.
    AS-IS Scenario
The thing is that, for the Company Code Currency, the Exchange Rate Type is defaulted to "M" (in OB22). This one is updated daily by our global bank interface.
Because of that, we created an new local "Exchange Rate Type" and tried to do an substitution rule.
The rule did actually worked in the sense the changed the info from the field BKPF-KUTY2 for the Exchange Rate Type that we wanted.
    Problem
The poblem is that the calculation of the actual amount (field BSEG-DMBTR) continues to be based on ER "M" and not our local one...
Is there any way to get around this ?
    Best Regards,
    Brno

    Hi,
Keep 0 % Max.exch.rate dev. for your company code in following path:
SPRO---> Financial accounting (NEW)  ->Financial accounting global settings>Global Parameter for Company code->Currencies->Maximum Exchange Rate Difference---> Define Maximum Exchange Rate Difference per Company Code
Also keep 0 % Max.exch.rate dev. for two currencies in above path with Define Maximum Exchange Rate Difference per Foreign Currency

  • Exchange rate pop-up for facility assignment

    Dear Expert ,
Now I found something abnormal when I try to post the TR transaction with foreign currency (Different currency with Facility) and need to assign it to Facility by the information belows,
         - Create TR transaction with USD currency and assign it to Facility then the transaction pop-up exchange rate for entering manually  but when I create TR transaciton with another currency such as JPY , HKD the system not pop-up the screen for entering to me.
Could u suggest the solution or point-check to me to clarify this problem.
    Thank you very much.
    Pongrapee K.

    Hi
System only give exchange rate pop-up when your transaction currency is different from your facility currency.
if facility and transaction currency is same then there will be no pop-up but if both are different then system will give pop-up of exchange rate.Reason for this is that system will convert you transaction amount in facility  currency and then compare it with available amount.

  • Apply different exchange rate types in sales order and invoice

    Dear Experts,
How to configure different  exchagnes in sales order and invoice?
For example, use average exchange rate in sales order but current exchange rate in invoice.
    Thanks!
    Regards,
    Wang Hui

    Hi all,
I also need to apply different exchange rate between sales order and Invoice.
    E.g:
condition type currency (komv-waers)          sales document currency (komk-waerk)         company currency (t001-waers)
In my example, each of above currencies can be different:
    komv-waers = EUR
    komk-waerk = USD
    t001-waers = GBP
I tried through VTFL transaction but it is not working in all situations cause VTFL allows me to manage situations where
    komk-waerk NE T001-waers
But I need to convert condition types where
    komk-waerk EQ T001-waers but
    komv-waers NE komk-waerk
Can I manage this situation through SAP standard and/or VTFL transaction?
    Is there any other solution?
I really hope you can help me
    Thanks a lot
    Regards

  • Exchange rate difference in FI document and PCA document.

When we invoice with foreign currency, document exchange rate used in posting to FI but exchange type ‘M’ used in posting to PCA. Can we use document exchange rate to post to PCA?

I dont think this is possible. Generally in PCA config setting you maintain this exchange rate type. Go to OKEQ and selelct verion 0 and click against Settings for PC accounting on the left hand side.  Here you can see the exchange rate type which is set. So you need to maintain the exchange rate type here. There is no way that document exchange rate can be set here.

  • Two Extractor logics for full and delta?

    Hi,
I have a situation where in the logics for full upload and delta uploads are drastically dfifferent!
What is best way to deal it?
shuould i have two different extractors for full and delta ?
    Raj

    Hi Raj,
I hope that u are working with the Generic Extractors. If the volume of the posting is too high then u need to restrict the data definitely from R3 side interms of the performance. And u need to maintain the Delta Functionality for the same.
If u cannt maintain the Delta from the R3 side then atleast try to restrict the same from BW side at the infopack level where u can extract the data based on the changed on and created with the two different IP's and update the same to the ODS(here make sure all the objects are with the overwrite).... and then u can maintain the Delta load from ODS to the Cube easily..
If the volume of the data is pretty less then u can use Full load to the ODS and then Delta to the Cube.
    Thanks
    Hope this helps..
