Exchange Rate Variance Account

We are having a problemwith an invoice in payables module. It is crediting the exchange rate variance account in invoice accounting but is not selecting the right gl code due to which we are not able to generate accounting for this invoice. Can anybody tell me where do we define Exchange Rate Variance account?
Note: If your answer is PO Price Variance account in Financial Options then we have already checked it and it has the right gl code so there definitely is some other place where the aforementioned code is defined.
I can also provide screen shots of the invoice or the distribution of invoice.

Hi Nehmat,
this is an intended behaviour ...
Your purchase order is in Foreign Currency ..
Your Invoice matched to Purchase order is in Foreign Currency ...
Difference between the PO and INV exchange rate has caused Exchange rate variance ..
The entered currency in the above case is Foreign currency therefore entered value for ERV line will be zero ... whereas the accounted line would have the computation for ERV done in functional currency....hence ERV line is acceptable for this case.

  • Exchange Rate Variance line showing wrong Account

    Hi,
Our company is using Oracle EBS R12.1.3. When our Finance users do foreign currency transactions in Payables and match an invoice to the PO then, on the invoice distribution lines, there are two lines (one with the Line type "ITEM" and the other one is
"Exchange Rate Variance"). The ITEM line is Ok but the Exhange Rate Variance Line is showing the same Expense Account as on ITEM line (i.e., hitting wrong account). We have checked the setups in Payable Options. The Account that is defined as PO Rate Variance Gain / Loss is different from the account that is being hit on the Invoice Distribution lines. Why is that so?
Our Finance users are not satisfied with this. They're saying that Exchange Rate variance is not charging to the right account.
Please let me know which setup option am I missing.
    Thanks and Regards

  • Exchange rate variances between Primary and Secondary Ledger

We have a little problem on our hands.....we are implementing dual ledgers with dynamic posting, primary in Canadian Dollar and secondary in USD.
Exchange rate variances would occur if for example, we consider material transactions at different points in time. We would have no problems in the primary. However, CAD to USD exchange rates are updated monthly and very likely, rates would change month to month. Therefore, exchange rate variances would happen frequently in the secondary ledger.
We have been asked by senior management how these variances would be handled by EBS. Just wondering if you have ideas though we are looking into the accounting events in SLA.
    Thanks,
    Sanjib

If the requirement was to maintain balance in USD and Canadian dollar, You can use the Reporting currency option instead of Secondary ledger.

  • Exchange Rate difference account-

    Hi All,
Please help me to find a solution for the scenario below.
Business process is third party PO scenario where the vendor currency(USD) is different from ccode currency.
Material is valuated at 30 EUR.
PO is made with the vendor at Rs.51.60 USD.(Exchange rate is not fixed at header level in PO)
GR is made at 51.60 USD
While doing IR,the exchange rate has changed from 1.290 to 1.395.
What configuration should be done for the system to post to Exchange rate difference account(transaction key KDM)..
(As of now the difference in price is posted to the consumption account,Which was already hit during GR).
    Regards,
    Deepak.

    HI DEEPAK,
If Price control maintained in Material master is " V " then, at MIRO,
    1.  exchange rate diff. will be posted to stock account if available stock qty is >= invoice quantity
    2.  exchange rate diff. will be posted to exchange rate diff acct (as per KDM) ,if available stock qty is 0
    3.  exchange rate diff. will be posted propotionately to stock account and exchange rate diff acct (as per KDM) ,if available stock qty is <  invoice quantity
If Price control maintained in Material master is " S " then, at MIRO,
    1.  exchange rate diff. will be posted exchange rate diff acct (as per KDM) i.e. irrespective of stock availability.
    pls, check and revert back

  • Exchange rate difference account is showing more than invoice or advance am

    Hi,
Exchange rate difference account is showing more than invoice or advance amount  (USD V/S INR)
    1)  we have done down payment of customer.  (USD V/S INR  RS. 40/- PER DOLLAR)
    2)  Invoice posting also done  (RS. 42/-)
    3)  At the time of Invoice against down payment clearing  (RS. 43/-)
At the time of clearing exchange rate difference account is generated automatically (back ground calculated).
But exchange rate differemce account is displaying amount is more value.  This value is more than invoice and advance value.
But question is how this much of value is getting in exchange rate difference account.
Please suggest possible ways to get that.

  • F-28 Exchange Rate Difference Account with a zero posting

    Hi SAP Gurus,
When I try to post an incoming payment, even though there are no exchange rate differences, the system post to exchange rate difference account. How to configure the system to stop displaying the exchange rate difference account when the difference is zero.
    Regards,
    Siva

    Dear Siva,
I dont think that the system will post to exchange rate difference account if there is no difference. Probably you are seeing the doucment in the foreign currency. Try to simulate the entry and on the simulated screen, click on the "Display currency" tab on the top of the entry. That will show the simulated entry in the local currency. In the local currency, there may be some difference.
Check it and if useful, assign points.

  • MIRO - Postings during Foreign invoices - Exchange rate variance

    Hi
I noticed while posting foreign exchange PO's where there is both price variance and exchange rate difference the system posts price variance in foreign currency with a local currency amount of 0 and posts foreign exchange variance in local currency with a foreign currency amount of 0.
can someone explain whether this is standard SAP? What is the logic? How do we do reporting in such cases?
    Thanks
    Raj

    Hi,
As far as foreign exchange rate variance the entries are correct. The difference will be only in Local Currency and not in transaction currency. For example if the transaction currency is USD and Local currency is INR, when there is a change in exchange rate the difference is recorded only in INR. As far as USD is concerned there is no change.
    Thanks
    Murali.

  • Why Exchange rate of accounting document different than sales order?

    Dear Gurus,
    In sales order;
    Exchange rate used as "B".
    In VF01-Items-exchange rate also B.
But accounting document is posted as  Currency type M.
I don t want accounting doc as M. It should be B as in order or invoice.
    How can I fix it?

    Dear Fsmehmet ,
System by default will check exchange rate for accounting by considering M irrespective of the exchange rate type maintained in the customer master.
I hope B in your case refers to the exchange rate type maintained in the customer master.
Please follow the below SAP note.
    SAP Note 22781
    Solution is as follows.
Make a copy of routine 007 in the copy control and write your logic to fetch KNVV-KURST of the Sold-to-party
The input this KURST in TCURR table and fetch the latest value.
Assign this new routine in copy control between your delivery and invoice.
    This will surely work.
Check and revert back if you have any issues.

  • Issue with Exchange rate valuation Account

    Hi Experts,
We have one issue.. Our user has run the foreigh currency valuation in Transaction F.05 from year 2005 to 2009. But now there is one issue. The Foreign currency exchange rate valuation gl has not setup the open item check box. Due to this issue, all line items are open in Account.
Could you please take it up as High Priority issue and suggest me.
    Reg
    Raj.

    Hello,
If in G/L account master data, open line item is not checked, You can activate open line items management for G/L account.
If you don't use new GL, please run RFSEPA02 program with using SE38. If you use new G/L please refer OSS note 175960 "RFSEPA02/03 not supported as of Release 4.5A. What can I do? "
If your SAP version 603, you can run transaction FAGL_ACTIVATE_OP for activation open line items.
Otherwise, If you don't have to valuate foreign currency with open line item, you can valuate balance for G/L accounts.
I hope, I got your question correctly.

  • Exchange rate diff. accts are not defined for account 16145110currency INR

    Dear SAP Gurrus,
I am facing a problem while making  payment against invoice, receiving payment against invoice, clearing advance payment and  advance receipts through T-code F-53, F-28, F-44 and F-32.  System is allowing me to select the invoices against which I want to do the clearing but when I go for simulation I am getting the following error -
' Exchange rate diff. accts are not defined for account 16145110currency INR'.
When I click on the error message the performance assistant gives methe following details:
Exchange rate diff.accts are not defined for account 16145110 currency INR
    Message no. F5062
    Diagnosis
The accounts for posting the exchange rate differences could not be determined. For the specified G/L account and the specified currency key, no corresponding exchange rate difference accounts were determined.
    System Response
The system cannot generate the exchange rate difference posting.
    Procedure
By pressing ENTER, you achieve that the document is reset to a status without automatic posting. In another window, you can complete the default settings for exchange rate differences and post the document afterwards.
    Proceed
My client is local. Even the local currency is set to 'INR'. There is no foreign currency involced while making invoices, payment and receitps.  Eventhough the system is giving me error.  As a result I am not able to clear open items. Thanks in advance

    hi,
As you said, you are not maintaining any Exchange rate differences, It may not be required a Exch rate Diffrences account.
Please check whether you have created any Group / Parrallel curencies etc in co.code level.
Please go through the notes 209580 / 89531, hope it helps you.

  • Account determination - exchange rate and valuation

    Hello All,
we have a problem concerning our account determination for differences in exchange rate and valuation. When clearing open vendor items in foreign currency, a percentage of the difference goes to our exchange rate difference account (correct), but the other part of our difference goes to the account we have configured for valuation (incorrect).
Before, we had, in "Account Determination for OI Exch.rate differences" (transaction FBKP) , the following configuration for all our accounts in foreign currency:
    Exchange rate difference realized:
    Loss: 66800000
    Gain: 76800000
    Valuation
    Val Loss: 66800100
    Val Gain: 13600000
    Bal sheet adj: 40099999
Now, we have the same accounts, except for "Bal sheet adj", for which we have 5 different accounts depending on the account to be valued. This change shouldn't have any effect, but since then, every time we clear an open item (KR and KZ), one part of the difference goes to an exchange rate difference account, while another part goes to valuation, when this last account should only be used when running F.05.
    Any help?
    thanks
    Daniel

    Asha,
Revaluation is a 2 step process - In the first step, the documents entered in FC are converted into LC and then in the second step all the LC is converted into GC using the GAAP/Quarterly Rate.
During the first step, the difference is posted to a P/L Account and during the second step, the difference is posted to a B/S Account.
Coming to the open item clearing getting posted to the same accont defined in the step 1 - I would ask how are you doing the open item clearing ?
If it's manual through F-44, then i would say the accounts you are mentioning during clearing are wrong.
If it's through Payment Run, You would have to go FBZP -> Bank Selection and then check the g/l accounts mentioned over there.
    Hope it helps..
    Thanks,
    Nandita

  • Automatic posting accounts for exchange rate difference.

    Guys,
My clients wants to write a check in GBP pound sterling, and for that I set up house bank for GBP and did all the  other configuration steps in FBZP.We successfully printed out the check thru F110.Now when we try to mark the check as "encashed" thru FCHR,The  log says 1 check selected and marked as encashed but no posting docunments get generated as system shows an errored out session,I looked into SM35,the job log says" exchange rate difference accounts are incomplete for acount 161511 currency GBP".System takes me to OB09 which is account determination for Ol Exch.rate differences.Should I update a/c 161511 here? Please  note account 161511 is not a foreign currrency account. Its main cash bank account(US$ account) which I set up in House bank FI12.So in OB09 I dont see that account 161511.Wht should I do ?System also takes me to OBA1-maintain FI configuration Automatic posting. DO I need to do something in here too ? Please advice. Thanks

In OBA1 > Exchange Rate Dif.: Open Items/GL Acct
    Check the example below.
    Chart of Accounts     xxxx
G/L Account          < GBP A/C from which you are paying >
    Ex Rate Realized
    Loss                 P&L - Ex Loss Realized A/c < 830301>
    Gain                  P&L - Ex Gain A/c Realized <720201>
    Valuation
    Val.loss 1          P&L - Ex Loss Unrealized A/c < 830302>
    Val.gain 1           P&L - Ex Gain A/c Unrealized <720202>
    Bal.sheet adj.1     For. Currecy Reserve < 520501>
    Translation (similar to valuation)
    Loss                 830302
    Bal.sheet adj.loss   520501
    Gain                 720202
    Bal.sheet adj.gain   520501
Is this what you were after? The logic behind different GL postings should be able to explained by a person with an accounting background. Do let me know if you have any specific questions.
