Exchange recently purchased macbook for new model?
I recently ordered a new macbook which they tried to deliver for the first time today although no one was in. I went for the mid-range macbook but upgraded to a 120gb hard drive which I was v. happy with until I went online today and discovered that they've know upgraded the mid-range one to 120gb any way and increased the processer speed all for less than I paid! :S Can anyone advise me on my best course of action? Is it possible to exchange it for the new model at the cheaper price?! As a student could really use the money back! Or if I can't get an exchange would apple refund the difference in price? I used the higher educational discount and am in the UK. I gather if I do return it there is a charge even if I havn't opened it? Or can I take it straight to my local apple store? (don't know about an official apple one but there a KRCS one near me). I also saw somewhere that if you had any upgrades you can't return?! Please help! Can't even find the relevant number or e mail to use contact apple as I've found several diff. numbers and not sure which is the right one.
Thank you both I will contact applecare tomorrow. I'm not so worried about the processor speed as that wouldn't make much difference it's more the money difference as the new model would give me the same thing (with slightly better processor speed) for £130 less! so even if I have to pay £60 to return it would still be worth it. Just hope they let me with it being a CTO. Thanks again for your help.

Exchange recently purchased 3gs for new iphone?
We just bought the iphone 3gs 2 weeks ago. Do you know if we can exchange them for the new iphone at no additional cost?
Yeah I'm workin on my 3rd 3GS and I've been with AT&T for 4 years, paid two hundred for every one of them even with the apple care protection plan! I've had this 3GS for less than 30 days and I bet if I want the new one it'll cost another $200 + $18 for early upgrade!! I think if u've had the phone less than 60 days they should replase it with the newer model no questions!

I am trying to license my recent download of Lightroom 5 onto my recently purchased Macbook with the serial number of the disk I purchased last year for my Windows PC (an upgrade from Lightroom 4). I receive an error "The serial number you entered is invalid". Why does CC not recognize this as a valid serial number?
Soyouca how did you install Photoshop Lightroom? Please uninstall the current installation using the uninstaller located in Applications/Utilities/Adobe Installers.
Once Photoshop Lightroom is removed please download a fresh copy of the installation files from Adobe - Lightroom : For Macintosh. The update contains the full installer so please download the latest version of Photoshop Lightroom 5.
You may be asked to enter your serial number for Photoshop Lightroom 4. You can find information on how to locate the serial numbers under your account at Find your serial number quickly - http://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/global/find-serial-number.html. -

Hi, recently purchased macbook 13", I have problem with sound when connect to my LG Smart tv with sound system. When i change sounds effect on my sound system also LG its all go quiet didn't have this problem with my laptop. Any advise ?
Some progess I see. To be honest, i would not waste your time with trying to connect using wireless.
You are likely to get poor connections and dropping out.
If its working using a cable, then there is no need to bother with giving me the network settings, bu see how it goes, because sometimes giving the TV a static IP address can give better results.
There is an example of a couple of powerline adapters on the diagram below. Just ignore the network switch unless you want to connect other devices which are near to the TV.

I am trying to understand why the battery life on my recently purchased Macbook pro is 3-4 hours. Does anyone have this same problem?
Call Apple Care. You have 14 days from the date of purchase to return your computer with no questions asked.
You have 90 days of free phone tech support.
Take FULL advantage of your warranty. Posting on a message board should be done as a last resort and if you are out of warranty or Apple Care has expired. -
Is it possible to exchange my 15 macbook for 13 macbook pro?
is it possible to exchange my 15 macbook for 13 macbook pro?
the reason why i want to have the 13 macbook pro is for its size since i can put in my school bagIn the U.S., I think you have 14 days to return or exchange without penalty.
I think the 15 is much nicer, so I suggest you keep the computer and get a different school bag. -
I just swapped out old modem for new model. Airport flashing amber. Wi-Fi connection good but airport not responding. Do I need to configure a new network connection? Change anything in airport utility?
Welcome to the forum!
I'm a big fan of resetting in situations like this. Who knows what boxes you've ticked where...
Use the hard reset button with a paper clip on your Airport express. Hold it til the light starts blinking, then let it reset.
While it's resetting, go into your Network prefs and make sure you're set up to connect via Airport. Delete any references to your prior wireless network in the preferred networks section. Go into your keychain utility and delete any passwords there. (this is assuming you were using some form of wireless security).
After your AE has restarted, choose it from the Airport pull-down menu and run the Airport Setup Assistant utility. Once you've got it up and running, use Airport Admin utility to set security and passwords.
Seems drastic, but after all the poking around you've done, these steps should be pretty simple to perform. I'm guessing your original "Looking for PPPoE host" was a temporary problem with your IP. Maybe the ethernet cable was unplugged from AE?
Good luck -

I recently purchased a brand new Airport Time Capsule 2TB. I already am using the previous generation time capsule to back up all my computers data. May I ask how can I complement the usage with my new time capsule?
By default your new Time Capsule will broadcast an unsecured wireless network with a network name of something like: Apple Network NNNNNN
Most likely your iMacs will be connected to the wireless network created by the Virgin Media router. However, both should see the Apple Network under the AirPort icon's drop-down menu as another wireless network that they can connect to. Is this not the case? -
Replacing 3 weeks old MacBook Pro for new model
Well i purchased a MacBook Pro 13" just three weeks ago and now there is a new model launched which is of the same cost now i want to change my MacBook for the new one so how can that be possible??
will i have to pay more because i got mine for same cost just three weeks ago...
Will be waiting for replyYou've passed the 14-day 'no questions asked' return policy so your best best would just to be to sell on eBay or some other online retailer that takes 'used' computer equipment (though your best bet is eBay).
Sorry,

Hi All,
I recently purchased 13" Macbook Air with OS 10.10.2. I want to use my 1TB Seagate backup plus external hard drive as time machine and my windows 7 pc. Please suggest a method. Thanks in advance for your reply.I strongly recommend having an external drive dedicated solely for TimeMachine. You could partition the drive but if something goes wrong you risk losing the data on both partitions. Should you decide to go ahead with splitting the drive for two different uses you’ll need to partition the drive either using the Mac’s built in Disk Utility program or Windows utility. I believe the built in Windows disk utility program will destroy the current partition and erase the data that’s on it - I use a third party Windows disk utility program for partitioning and it allows for non-destructive partitioning but warns to back up data first just in case. Apple’s Disk Utility can do non-destructive partitions but I don’t recall every trying to do a non-destructive partition on a disk originally formatted for Windows using it. Again - back up that data just in case.
Finally, your TimeMachine drive should be at least 1.5 times (I prefer 2 times) the size of the data you expect to be backing up a year or two from now. In other words, if you currently are using 50GB of your computer’s drive but expect to begin purchasing Mac software to replace software on your Windows computer and if you expect to be putting photos, music, and other data on it you might expect that two years from now you’ll have 100GB of stuff on the drive. So a 200GB partition is the smallest size you’d want. TM’s backup scheme keeps multiple copies of data as it changes so the extra room is important for this scheme. -
Exchange recently purchased MBP
I purchased a 17" MBP 10 days ago (I know, I know, I didn't know the new ones were coming out). It is opened. Will Apple let me return it, without paying the 10% restock, in order to purchase the new 17" MBP with the 320GB drive? Will the 2.6 GHZ MBP with the 320GB 7200 rpm drive be available at retail, or only online?
ThanksRegarding the most recent update to the 17" model -- since it still has the NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GT, and we know, as Apple has stated that those chips are known to be susceptible to defective packaging (from nvidia) if made up to September 2008, does anyone know of any way to know if these "new"/refreshed 17" macbook pros were assembled with newer chips from nvidia later than September?
I can't accept the new design for the unpro keyboard/screen so my only choice is this 17" version.
Won't go for previous revision of 15" due to the nvidia defect, and so I need to know if the newer 17" model is not susceptible.
Anyone with one of these systems know their manufacture date -- apparently you should be able to determine this from the serial no.
