Exchange server 2010 Hub-Cas server role remove from organization

Dear all,
I am going to remove my one of my hub-cas(both the roles installed in same server)server from my organization.
Cas server configured into cas array. So anyone please guide me to remove safely.
Parthiban selvaraj

Hi,
From your description, I would like to clarify the following thing:
If you use NLB, you need to remove the CAS server from your NLB cluster and then remove this CAS&Hub server. If you use other sort of load balancer, you need to use it to remove the server from the CAS array and then remove the server.
Hope it helps.
Best regards,

  • Exchange server 2010 sp3 - adding a role

I have a 2010 SP3 CAS server that I want to add the hub transport role to. Will I need to reinstall SP3 after adding the role?

Yes you can install HUB Transport role on existing CAS Server. No need to reinstall SP3 since it's complete exchange package. You can  use the setup.exe of SP3 to install the HT role.
Make sure hardware sizing is consider as needed since you are adding role to the existing server. Request you to go Exchange calculator to have detail on sizing that will help you out.

  • Removing hub/cas server

    Exchange 2010 sp3, 1 multi-role, 1 DAG (2 hubs, 2 mbs)
a few weeks ago, my DAG included the multi-role server. but due to hd space problems, i wasn't able to add more hd to the multi-role server. only to the 2 mb servers. therefore i removed the multi-role server from DAG membership.
the present DAG (2 hubs, 2 mbs), is working fine. my questions are:
will the multi-role server still be actively involved in the sending and receiving of emails? I've removed it from the send connector.
the multi-role server still shows in Server Configuration / Hub Transport. should i remove it?
EDIT: i will still be needing the multi-role server later on. maybe a few weeks from now.

If it doesn't contain any databases which holds mailboxes you can shut down the server and start the server when needed.
or if it contains database(with active mailboxes) move the mailboxes to active mailbox server(DAG member) and shutdown this server for time being if you wish to as it is not a member of DAG.
As commented above if you dont need it you should do a proper unisntall

  • Lync Server 2010 Mobility. Server does not call mobile.

    Hello all.
We have an infrastructure with Lync Server 2010 SE, Edge Server, ISA.
Everything works fine, Enterprise Voice is enabled and integrated with IP PBX.
Lync 2010 desktop client can call to PSTN without any problem.
But when user logs in to mobile client, iPhone Lync Mobility client for example, server tries to call to users' number but an error occurs, that user is not online, IM works just fine.
The reason is - call goes to trunk in the following format 98XXXXXXX with normalization rules, server tries to call in e.164 format +7XXXXXXXXXX.
Everybody knows how to normalize server calls?

Open Lync Server Control Panel, click Voice Routing and then click Test Voice Routing, enter the dialed number to test with the Dial Plan and Voice Policy assigned to the caller.

  • Exchange server 2010 - Hub Transport rule not working

    Hello,
I'm trying to create a hub transport rule that blocks any incoming / outgoing email with attachments larger than 10MB with an exception of a few users.
    I've followed this article https://www.simple-talk.com/sysadmin/exchange/increasing-email-size-limits-for-your-high-profile-users-in-exchange-2010/.
The send connector & receive connector is at 30MB right now and the distribution group has been made.
I added myself to the distribution group which allowed me to send a 20MB size email.
If I remove myself from the distribution group, exchange still allowed me to send the 20MB email size.
    Any advise is much appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Daniel

    Hi Daniel,
    Thanks for your response.
The Hub Transport server is responsible for handling transport rules. The transport rules can't work without a Hub server.

    Hi Ed,
Thanks a bunch for your quick response
I've been practicing different scenarios in a test environment.  I'm using TechNet Subscription downloads which, to my knowledge, have Exchange 2010 with SP1 only available.  That's what I'm using.
I got over this first error by 'Not checking the box for Automatically install Roles & features required for Exchange'.
Then it would not install the mailbox role.  Found an article that referred to modifying the registry.  The installation proceeded normally after modifying the registry as per the following article:
    http://gallery.technet.microsoft.com/office/Exchange-2010-SP1-SP2-c939e791
Now, when I start EMC, it connects to the server and shows my server name; however, there are no options available under it. I still have it as 120 day trial version.  Do I need to add the product key before I would have access? (I didn't think
so)  I can't add key through EMC because no options available.
Can you please suggest a resolution to this problem?
Thank you so much for your support.
    Best regards,
    Parm :)

    Hi,
As all above saying, it is not supported to install Exchange server 2010 SP3 in Windows Server 2012 R2. Please refer to
    supported Operating Systems for
    Exchange server 2010:
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-US/library/aa996719(v=exchg.141)
Additionally, Windows Server 2012 R2 will be a supported operating system for Exchange Server 2013 with SP1 coming in early 2014. Let’s waiting for the release about it. For more information, please refer to:

  • Search Server 2010 Express: Open a PDF document from list of search results invokes adobe reader client application with error

    Hi community,
I set up search server 2010 express on a windows 2008 r2 server.
The Adobe PDF iFilter 9 64 bit is installed and search is correctly configured to find PDF-files.
When doing a search and clicking on a link of the result page, the PDF is not opened in the browser, instead the adobe reader XI client application (11.0.04) is invoked and an error raised like "could not open document .. check syntax of url..."
Right click on a link to open in new tab works fine. And PDF-Files from other arbitrary Internet Sites opens in browser correctly. Moreover when configure Adobe Acrobat Pro 9 as default application on the client it also open in Browser correctly.
I noticed googling the web there are several challenges when dealing with PDF-files in sharepoint. The following settings are made so far:
    1. In IE: Add-On to open PDF in Browser is enabled for all sites.
    2. Client Integration is enabled
    3. The OpenControl attribute in the DOCICON.xml is left empty OpenControl="" for the pdf entry.
    4. The Browser File Handling is set to "Permissive".
Please feel free to ask for more information if needed.
I appreciate any help on this. I don't know what to do further.
    Thanks in advance.

    Thanks for the reply.
Before responding to your points I want to give a little more context:
We have an intranet based on pure html and a little aspx containing many of those pdf- files. By clicking on the links in the intranet the files open correctly in browser handled by the adobe plugin. Now we set up this search server crawling the file system
accessed through a share to the root folder of the intranet. In the search server settings a host mapping rule is applied to replace the file://[share] with http://[intranet host+domain+port] to access files over http.
And now to answer your question. The resulting urls are the same, copying the link from intranet and copying the link from the search result (except some case issues).
The event viewer not seem to show any errors on this, though I'm not very familiar using it.
If any further information are from interest and any ideas come to your mind - please let me know.
    Thanks.

  • OIM 11.1.1.5 BP2 Roles removed from users automatically

    Hi All,
We are using OIM 11.1.1.5 BP02 and facing issues with event handlers, role membership and access policy. We have a custom post create user handler and a custom user post update event handler. We are creating users through trusted reconcilication by using EBS Employee Recon connector and provisioning users to AD & Exchange by using the 11.1.1.5 ICF connectors.
The issue we are seeing is with the Roles of the users, the behavior we are seeing is that, on user creates through trusted recon, the users are getting roles correctly and then the resources are assigned correctly, but after sometime, the roles are removed from the user. We donot have 'Revoke if no longer applies' on the access policy and thus the resources are appearing fine for the user, but we donot want roles to be removed from the user since the rule membership rules criteria is still holding good for the user.
We are seeing this issue only with trusted reconcilication and not when we create users through the UI. Our custom event handlers have the same logic for both the execute methods; with the difference that the bulk execute method is working on the array of identities received from trusted recon while the normal execute method working on just one identity through the UI.
We are doing complex computation in the event handlers (& setting multiple fields of the user) and are forced to use UserManager API to set the fields in the create user handler (Following article: 1469286.1); this we believe is effecting the ordering of the custom event handler and the OOTB Role ChangeCalculator event handler.
We have already checked the bugs(14075985 & 14221435) and wanted to confirm if we are hitting the same and/or how can we debug this more. We have already checked the UPA_USR table but that does not tell us as to why the role is revoked from the user.
    Anyone faced similar issue?
    Thanks,
    Bikash

The patch we were given was 14226386, also called 11.1.1.5.2AK. The readme has the following overview:
This patch addresses the concurrency issues encountered in 11g R1 PS1 as described below
    1. Unlike in OIM 11g R1 PS1, when a user's role membership changes policy evaluation doesn't
kick off immediately. Instead the user is flagged for policy evaluation in the future.
'Evaluate User Policies' scheduled task then triggers policy evaluation for such users.
The scheduled task ensures that there is only one policy evaluation for a user at any
given time. So, duplicate accounts or entitlements wouldn't be provisioned to a user.
With this fix, access policy based provisioning events will be triggered only when
'Evaluate User Policies' scheduled task runs. Hence, the frequency of this scheduled
task needs to be tuned for the customer's deployment. The recommendation is to set it to
         10 minutes.
In addition to binary changes, this fix involves data model and metadata changes as
         described below.
    2. In a custom event handler, use Platform.getServiceForEventHandler() instead of
Platform.getService() to get a handle to a Service available in OIM before making an API
call. This ensures that the API completes in its entirety (including any post processing)
when it returns. Also, this brings in predicability in the order of execution of OIM
events on the same entity created from one another.
    3. When trusted source reconciliation brings in multiple events on the same user these events
    are processed by OIM sequentially.
But since then BP03 and BP04 have been released, I would suggest you find out if BP04 has resolved this from support before applying anything.

  • Role removal from Multiple users

    Hi All
I have a query related to removal of roles from user profile.
I want to delete a particular role from a set of users (say more than 600 users)
is it possible with su10 you to  remove the role from the users  at a stretch or is it the right way to get it removed from the user tab in PFCG and get the user- master record adjusted?
    Please Suggest

    Hi,
Preferably, you should use PFCG for your need...
It will be a easiest way to perform this task...
After that dont forget to do "user comparison"...

  • Exchange 2010 hub-transport server

    i have 2 exchange 2010 hubtransport servers.
ideally when i send email my email should be load-balanced but emails send using hubcas1 goes fine and hubcas2 kepts in queues
suppose if i send at a time 5 mail
    3 emails go through hubcas1
2 emails stucks in queue in hubcas2

    Hi,
As you said you have added both the hub transport servers in the source server option of the send connector.Same time you have mentioned you don't have the smart host to deliver the emails to the internet and also the server hubcas2 can able to resolve the
external domain namespaces .Then do the following .
step 1 :Then please enable the protocol logging on the send connector to see the why the connections from the server hubcas2 is rejected to send emails to internet.
Step 2: Then do the outbound email test from EXRCA tool by using the ip address or name which is mapped on the MX record which belongs to the server hubcas2.
Please feel free to reply me if you have any queries .

  • Error Installing Service Pack 3 for Exchange Server 2010 (Hub Transport)

    I get the following error;
"[ERROR] Couldn't remove product with code 4934d1ea-be46-48b1-8847-f1af20e892c1. Fatal error during installation. Error code is 1603.
This is one of two Hub Transport only servers. The Client Access servers upgrade without a problem.
    Thanks,
    Randel

    Hi,
Based on my research, to remove the error, here is a solution you can refer to:
    1. Run the MsiExec.exe /X {4934d1ea-be46-48b1-8847-f1af20e892c1} to uninstall the Microsoft Full Text Indexing Engine for Exchange.
    2.  Manually start the World Wide Web Publishing Service and IIS Admin Service then run the setup again.

  • Adding more ip address to a hub/cas server

    Exchange 2010 sp3
i used to have a casarray but since my HUB2 went down, there is only one HUB1 left. also, something happened to the WNLB such that i have to shutdown the CASarray too.
now we have many applications pointing to the ip address of the CASarray and are failing because the ip is no longer online.
can i add the ip address of the downed CASarray to the remaining HUB1 server? are there any possible problems with that scenario?

Rather than adding new Array IP address point those Application to CAS servers and work on fixing the NLB issue.
    I personally don't like WNLB.
I would suggest you to get Hardware Load Balancer to get rid of these kind of situation in future. You can also use HLB as reverse proxy too. There are many things HLB can do where WNLB can't even think about it.
KEMP Hardware Load Balancer is one of the best and Cheapest product available in the market.
