Exchange Server Connection Issues

I set up my work email as an exchange account. I had problems with it connecting so I deleted it and reinstalled it. I still get the ferris wheel icon spinning at the bottom with the message Connecting for minutes at a time. It is better if I use a wifi connection. On other occasions it connects and checks for mail quickly. I am not having this problem with my yahoo or other email accounts.
Short of wiping them all out and reinstalling them I am looking for a solution. Having push on makes the problem worse. I am showing three to four bars I do not think it is a signal problem.
I love the phone but am missing my BES.

This is usually an issue with the protocol used by Microsoft's Exchange Server. Some company's will follow MS's security reccomendations to a T and the iPhone does not completely meet all of these requirements so the Exchange server will not allow a full connection. I use the iPhone with my company's Exchange Server and it works perfectly fine, but only because we don't 100% follow Microsoft's recommendations on securing the server. I believe there are apps out there that do follow these security protocols so you can still connect.
Thanks, there is a thread on the apple support forum where many others are having this issue. Some are suggesting it is a software bug, if so I hope they fix it soon.  I do get my emails, but I find it is better to turn push off.

  • Trouble Shooting an Exchange Server Connection Issue

I recently encountered a problem when if my phone couldn't connect to the exchange server (MSFT Exchange 2003) it would clear out all of the previously synced mail on the phone. Once it is able to reconnect it will re-download everything, however if this is a normal behavior, and can't I prevent it from resetting all of my mail whenever the phone can't connect for whatever reason the phone becomes a real deal-breaker for me for business applications.
I called AT&T and was told that it was a security feature and there was no way around it. Does anyone know if this is a normal behavior or have any ideas on a way to stop this from occurring? Or should I try calling Apple Care to get someone with a little more knowledge of the way the phone works?
Thanks in advance for any ideas!
    Will

You will not lose mail, contacts and calendar if the iPhone cannot connect to the Exchange server. However, you WILL lose data on the phone if the iPhone connects, but the Exchange server is not running. Normally this won't happen if your IT department has even a basic level of competence, and disables incoming requests during Exchange server maintenance. This is a characteristic of ActiveSync, and has nothing to do directly with the iPhone.

  • Powerpoint web sharing fails with "some presenting features are unavailable due to server connectivity issues"

    Hi,
I am having problems getting PowerPoint sharing working with Lync 2013. My setup is as follows
Lync 2013 Enterprise pool (november 2013 updates) on Windows 2012 and
    Windows 2012 webapp farm
    Kemp HLB
Everything is working ok, including whiteboards and application sharing, but i cannot get the powerpoint sharing to work. I always get the "some presenting features are unavailable due to server connectivity issues" for internal or external
    users.
The webapp looks healthy and there are no errors in the Lync server or the webapp event log. Discovery urls can be accessed and i have put the .net 3.5 as suggested in a few forums.
When a user starts the PowerPoint it successfully loads the file to the Lync file share and request goto the webapp server. I am using a HLB which shows me that requests are forwarded to the webapp farm. I have removed the HLB for testing and get the same
    results.
I did log this with the forum a month or so ago, but I had a file upload issue then which is now solved, but the powerpoint sharing is not.
    any ideas?

  • SQL Server Connection Issue

I've tried going through the steps to resolve the issue, but I am still coming up blank. The part that I am not understanding is the, "A non-recoverable error occurred during a database lookup." part.
Is this a security problem? I can establish an ODBC connection to the server as well as connect and query through visual studio, however when trying to run it through one of our custom programs, it throws this error message.
A network-related or instance-specific error occurred while establishing a connection to SQL Server. The server was not found or was not accessible. Verify that the instance name is correct and that SQL Server is configured to allow remote connections. (provider:
TCP Provider, error: 0 - A non-recoverable error occurred during a database lookup.)

There are many reasons of SQL server connectivity issue. Refer checklist to find out the real cause of connectivity issue.
    1. Check SQL services are running
    2. Check SQL Browser service is running
    3. Check remote connections are enabled
    4. Network connectivity between database & application servers by TRACERT command
    5. Check TCP/IP protocol enabled at SQL server
    6. Check talent connectivity – telnet <IP address> <port no on SQL server running>
    7. Check UDP port 1434 is open or not on SQL Server
    8. Check firewall is running or not Check
    9. If firewall running, SQL Server & UDP port must be added in exception in firewall
    10. Run SQL Discovery report on machine SQL server installed, to check you are using correct instance name to connect( default \named) -http://mssqlfun.com/2013/02/26/sql-server-discovery-report/

  • Sql Server Connection Issues

After reinstalling Windows Server 2008 R2 EE my SQL 2008 R2 Sp2 Instances have some connection issues.
The server were installed under the same hostname, but he got a new sid in my active directory.
On the server there one DB Engine MSSQLSERVER, two named Reporting Services for MS crm 4.0 and SCOM and one Analysis Services Instance.
The DB Engine will collect Data from another DB, before writing to Analysis Services.
Here are the problems on the server:
When I connect via SSMS remotly, I sometimes get this error: Failed to connect to server <hostname> ... Named Pipes Provider, error 40 - Could not open a connection to SQL Server - Error 5
Both RS Instances have many event log errors like "Report Server (Instance) cannot connect to the report server database.". RS Reports are working fine, but sometimes the rendering is taking a long
    time.
The DB Engine Agent Job to collect Data sometimes throw the following error: An OLE DB error has occurred. Error code: 0x80004005.  An OLE DB record is available.  Source: "Microsoft SQL Server Native Client 10.0"  Hresult:

User use Excel to connect to the Cube on my server. Often they got timeout errors. When they connect again it will work.
Are there any solutons on this?
    Thanks a lot!

    Hello,
The server were installed under the same hostname, but he got a new sid in my active directory.
Did you connect to SQL Server instance with Windows authentication? Since the SID of domain account is changed, the SQL Server instace may cannot verify the login account which stored in the master with old SID. In that case, please try to connect
SQL Server with SQL authentication and then readd the domian as login the instance.

  • DAC Server to DB Server Connection issue on Solaris 10

    Hi,
I have a connection issue that has me completely miffed as to what is going on.
We have a Oracle DAC Server running on Solaris 10 that connects to the DAC repository inside a database on another host also running on Solaris 10. When I try and build a DAC execution plan I get an error where I unable to complete the build due to by repository connection being lost. Looking at the DAC logs you can see multiple entries of
    32231  INFO  Tue Oct 15 10:04:05 BST 2013  CONNECTION_ISSUE Repository ending polling
    32232  INFO  Tue Oct 15 10:09:05 BST 2013  CONNECTION_ISSUE Repository ending polling

    32235  INFO  Tue Oct 15 10:24:05 BST 2013  CONNECTION_ISSUE Repository ending polling
Then eventually you see connection lost.
When I check the DB host using dmesg I notice the following entry over and over

There is no entry for the link going down just up all the time. The timing in the logs match with the DAC logs which makes my think this is where the issue may lie.

Does anyone have any idea on why this keeps occurring or can it safely be ignored?

  • Portal integration with Exchange server 2003 issues.

    Hello,
We are using NW04s EP 7.0 SP16 and Exchange server 2003. We are trying to perform OWA and Groupware integration. Both the servers are in the same domain.
I have followed all the steps in the notes and documents available there in SDN. There are few issues:
    1) The latest KerbMap filter has been configured in Exchange backend server. SAP note 785343 says that the exchange frontend server needs to be configured for anonymous authentication to enable pass-through authentication. But doing this breaks the form based authentication in exchange server, and it also poses security risk when the backend exchange server is behind the firewall. How do we enable pass-through authentication so that the exchange frontend passes the mysapsso2 cookie to the exchange backend server?
    2) When I try to create an appointment or try to view the appointments, it gives an error message saying " No logon data found for system Exchange". The Exchange system has been configured for SAP Logon Ticket, and the user mapping fields were left empty. Why should it prompt for user mapping when the logon method is "SAP Logon Ticket"?
There are many documents out there, but none is the latest with clear steps. Can anyone point me in the right direction please?
    Thanks,
    ~Yasin

As far as I remember, when Exchange 2003 is installed on a Domain Controller, it uses the local DC as a GC. You need to set back the 2003 DC as GC and restart it.
I believe, you are aware that demoting/promoting a DC with Exchange server on it is not supported by MS. The best approach is to:
Introduce an Exchange 2010 member server
Move all resources from Exchange 2003 to Exchange 2010
    Decommission Exchange 2003
    Demote the 2003 DC

  • "Safari can't find the server" - connection issues under Lion

    Hi there,
Since upgrading to Lion, Safari has been displaying this odd and annoying behaviour, where, for some links to some web resources (like maybe 2 clicked links out of 10), it throws up a grey error page telling me it can't find the server (screenshot below):
Normally, this error would be evidience of an intenet connection issue (but it isn't). If I immediately try to find the same resource via another browser (Firefox or Chrome), those other browsers navigate to the site absolutely fine. Although, occasionally (though with less frequency) I'm also getting a similar "Can't find stuff" error with Chrome too.
In the Safari address bar (is this significant?) there isn't even a URL, but a file path to file:///Applications/Safari.app/Contents/Resources... what does that mean?
Hints from other threads would indicate that this is a Firewall issue, or maybe there's another third-party app causing problem, rather than a problem with Safari under Lion specifically.
But I'm really bugged and irrittate by this. Anyone had a similar experience? Anyone with any ideas? How might I go about finding out what's causing this and fixing it?
    Best wishes,

It's most likely a problem with corrupted files in the Safari Cache or corrupted cookies.
    Go to Safari menu bar
    Click on Safari
    Click "Empty Cache"
    Restart Safari
    If the problem persists...
    Go to Safari -> Preferences
    Go to privacy
    Click "Remove All Website Data"
    Restart Safari

  • JDeveloper SOA Suite App Server connection issue

I am having an issue in JDeveloper connecting to SOA Suite deployed on an Amazon EC2 instance. From the application server tab, I can successfully create a new app server connection to SOA Suite (all 9 tests in the "Test Connection" run successfully). However, after that when I try to expand the SOA folder under the app server tab, I get a "javax.naming.CommunicationException", shown below. All the other folders (Clusters, Servers, Deployments, Web Services) expand and show the proper information without error.
One thing I notice is that an explicit IP of 10.80.47.145 using T3 protocol is listed in the error, as opposed to the host name of the Amazon EC2 instance over http. But I am not sure how to change that in JDeveloper's configuration for the app server. And it doesn't make sense why that is the only folder that errors out.
Thanks in advance for any help.

We are having the same issue here. We have added an SSL certificate to our soa server, and now when we connect with JDEV 11.1.1.4 it gives us this error. Those that are on 11.1.1.3 have imported the certificate to their keystore in JDEV and it works fine for them, but for those of us on 11.1.1.4, we still receive the same error.

  • Server Connect Issues

    Hello,
I just built a new computer and was trying to get the computer to connect to the server.  if I go to server/connect the http version nothing happens, I get a 404 error.  If I go to server/connect, the https version it does link
and I launch the connector software.  The system then says it cannot find my server and to put in the ip address of the server.  Even putting in the server name or the IP address it still cant find it and cant go any farther.
About a month ago I started hosting a website of my own.  In IIS 6 I added the website and no issues.  I know it has to deal with this.  I even put a stop on the site under IIS manager and it doesn't make a difference.
Any help on how I can get my new computer to connect to the server?
    Thanks,

    Hi,
    Any update?
Just additional. On the server essentials, please open IIS and navigate to WebSite. Then right click it and
select “Edit Bindings…”. Would you please let me know how you configured the site bindings?
In addition, please use following script that Robert created to check IIS configurations.
    Windows Server Essentials
    - Configuration Troubleshooter
Meanwhile, please start BPA scan and fix all that it can find, then check if this issue still persists.
I find that you can download Connector software when use Https. Please follow the path: C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows
Server\Logs and collect the Computerconnector.log in client computer. It may help us to go further analysis. Please note: the log file is hidden file. When you want to check it. Please open Control Panel, select Folder Options. Then select View tab and check
Show hidden files, folders and drives. You will be able to find the log file.
    Hope this helps.

  • Exchange Server Sync issues...

    Hi folks,
I have a problem that has been discussed in abundance right now. How ever, I dare posting it because none of the methods described have helped me to get the exchange stuff running.
I have an iPhone 16 GB 3G with 347 firmware.
An iMac 2,8 Ghz with 10.5.4. and Entourage
    A MacBook 1,83 with 10.5.4. and Entourage
An HTC Kaiser with WindowsMobile 6.1 professional
A Dell Vostro1710 with Windows XP Pro SP2
On all those devices I can access and work with the SBS2003 Exchange Server, except for, drums please: the iPhone.
As I am at the same time the admin of our little Network, I would be able to change all settings, but still I can't get it done. Information so far:
    OWA: https://mail.mycompany.com/exchange
    Server: mail.mycompany.com
    e-mail: [email protected]
    User: Rene
    Password: gofigure
    Domain: mycompany.local
No SSL or other certificates employed.
When I set up the account and enter the information above, a window comes up saying that the certificates on this page could not be verified. I accept this window. Then comes the Dialogue asking for the server, which I enter as above. Then the same window comes up again stating that the certificates could not be verified and again I accept.
Then it says "Account verified" and shows me the choices what I would like to sync with Exchange. As of now I would be happy if it only did e-mail (and I don't want to mess up my main calendar on MobileMe), so I unselect the others.
I click on save and switch to the mail app, which is: right, empty...
It makes no difference if I enter the Username with or without the domain as indicated in gray. It just won't work.
What am I missing here? Since there are apparently plenty of users who can get it to work... And I am now trying for the umpteenth time that even my patience is coming to an End.
    Cheers,
    Rene

    Hi guys,
I, too, am NOT a tech guy though I do administrate a bunch of different networks. I've been reading these forums for the past week or so and are also trying to connect my iPhone 1st gen. to our Exchange server. I haven't succeeded yet but if we put our heads together I think we can accomplish this
First, let's get the details on the "table"
    My setup is like follows:
    - Single server setup (Windows 2003 Standard SP2 / Exchange 2003 SP2)
    - OWA enabled (SSL by GoDaddy)
    - Active Sync (supposedly working)
    - Firewallports opened and NAT configured accordingly
As to my knowledge there seems to be NO "straight-forward" way of configuring an Exchange server, hence all the different setups we've seen on these forums. Something works for some people and some things does not.
Now, for the details we have to put in in the on-screen guide (on the iPhone) the following applies to me (at least I think so):
    E-mail: [email protected]
    User: domain\loginname *
    Password: myPassword
    Server-name-field now present and:
Server: company.com (<-- No HTTP or HTTPS) **
+* Domain name is "something.local" but I've read somewhere that we should use the NETBIOS name. Can't back it up though since I forgot the link.
** I've read more than one place that the server name is the "Active Sync Server" and NOT the OWA (like Entourage) or the FQDN like Outlook+
When entering all of these details I STILL have nothing showing up anywhere (in mail, calendar or contacts). But I see no errors or warnings of any kind.
I've tried to add a new virtual directory in IIS and edit the reg-base ((with no luck) - I've tried to setup the correct permissions on the different virtual directories in IIS (and with no luck). I do, however, think THIS is where the "gold" might be - a good place to start. Permissions of the virtual directories on the ISS.
    What do you guys think?

  • E71 Exchange Server Connection - No Permission to ...

I purchased an e71-2 last Friday, and I have been unable to connect it to my company's exchange server. Downloaded and installed MFE. Received the proper connection settings from IT. Received the proper access point settings from AT&T. Continually get an error reading:
"Your account does not have permission to sync with current settings. Contact your administrator."
The admin log reads HTTP error code=403 and HTTP Server error 403: Forbidden.
Able to log into the corporate webmail internet portal from my device's browser. Per a recommendation on another post, also tried to connect with https://myserver/Microsoft-Server-Activesync. Entered my username and password and received the following error - "http/1.1 501 Not Implemented" - which I guess is supposed to be a good thing.
We have a number of WinMo phones and Blackberry's that connect and are working fine. All the Exchange server settings for my account seem to be in order too. I used to connect with my blackberry, so I know the account allowed some devices to connect with it.
Any advice or suggestions would be more than welcome. Thanks!

    >>"Your account does not have permission to sync with current settings. Contact your administrator."
Microsoft-Server-ActiveSync must have Granted access to your IP or all IP addresses (that is what error 403 means = Restricted IP)
    >>The admin log reads HTTP error code=403 and HTTP Server error 403: Forbidden.
Same thing because you are accessing MS Exchange through secure http conection (SSL).
Yout IT admin has to change this settings under IIS/YOURSERVER/WEB SITES/Default Web Site/Microsoft-Server-ActiveSync

Well regarding to this everything should work so I suppose that there is a problem with E71 Mail for Exchange settings. You can find manuals for MFE on http://www.businesssoftware.nokia.com/mail_for_exchange_downloads.php

  • Yahoo Mail Plus popping from Exchange Server 2003 Issue

Hi, while I know that this is a little off topic, I really want to try the Yahoo direct push email solution with my iPhone. My problem is that when I configure the Yahoo Mail Plus service to retrieve emails from my corporate exchange server, it fails with a time-out error message. The really confusing part with all of this is that Gmail works perfectly. I know that I am put in the correct parameters, since Gmail has no problem popping my email from the exchange server. Is there anything special I need to have done to make this work? Here's a sample of the information I am using to configure Yahoo to retrieve my email:
    Server: mail.corporateserver.com
    port #: 995 (secure pop 3)
username: same as my domain name in MS Active Directory
password: same as used to login to MS Active Directory.
Again, this configuration works perfectly on Gmail. If Gmail could push to my iPhone, I would just stick with it. Any ideas?
    Thanks,
    Jules
