Exchange server issue: contacts entered on phone don't sync

I sync my 3Gs with Outlook via Exchange Server. Calendar entries sync back and forth with no problem.
Problem #1: Recently I noticed that contacts entered on the phone do not seem to move to Outlook. Contacts entered in Outlook move to phone via fetch or push with no problem.
Problem #2: At least one contact that used to be both on the phone & in Outlook has disappeared from Outlook. I am worried this may be a sync related issue.

Are you telling me that it is NOT possible to transfer contacts entered on the iphone to Outlook? If so, that's a major pain. If it IS possible, I would like to know how to do it.
No, that is not what I said.
When syncing contacts over the air with an Exchange account on an iPhone, the contacts are kept synchronized with your Exchange online contacts - those available on the Exchange Server, and Outlook is kept synchronized with the Exchange server. This is no different when syncing calendar events over the air with an Exchange account.

I turned off Contact sync. It deleted all Outlook contacts from the phone, but left contacts "native" to the iPhone.
I assume the contacts "native" on the iPhone were manually entered on your iPhone before enabling over the air syncing for contacts with your Exchange account on your iPhone and you were provided this prompt when doing so.
I turned on Contact sync. The phone popped up a dialog box: "What would you like to do with existing local contacts on your iPhone?" Options: Keep on my iPhone. Delete. Cancel.
And you selected "Keep on my iPhone" for these contacts. If so, these contacts that were manually entered on your iPhone before enabling over the air syncing with your Exchange account on your iPhone are stored separately on your iPhone. There is not a merge option when doing so - the options are keep on my iPhone, delete, or cancel. These contacts cannot be merged with the Exchange server and are stored separately on your iPhone. You can view all contacts combined or separately, but you can't merge the two.
If you want these contacts available with your Exchange online address book, you will need to manually enter the contacts with Outlook which is being kept synchronized with the Exchange server, or manually enter the contacts on your iPhone with your Exchange contacts or address book selected.

Isync Tiger BUG: Contacts created in phone don't sync into Addressbk Group

This is a bug I've encountered with iSync running on Tiger.
I use iSync to sync my AddressBook contacts with my Motorola Razor.
I have many contacts, but I only need a few of them synced with my phone, so I created a Group called "Phone" in AddressBook.app, and have set my sync preferences in iSync to sync only those contacts in the contacts group "Phone".
When I create a new contact in the phone, and then sync with iSync, the new contact does NOT appear in my designated Group "Phone", but instead in the "All" contacts category. This didn't happen in Leopard.
What this means is that if I ever need to restore my contacts on my phone, none of the contacts that I created on the phone will be synced b/c they are NOT in the "phone" group, but in the All contacts category.
If my iSync preferences are set to sync with a particular AddressBook Group, then NEW CONTACTS created in the PHONE should update to that designated GROUP, and not be considered non-categorized in the AddressBook.app.

You must be mistaken (or very lucky!). This issue was definately around in Tiger too.
Do a search on these forums for the same issue, and you'll see it comes up time and time again going back many years, relating to all versions of Mac OS X and iSync.

You can even see in iSync's window that there's an option to "Put events created on phone into:" pop-up, but no equivalent option for Contacts.

Can I sync my personal pop and exchange server calendar/contacts ??

The "genius" at Apple Store says no, but others have said yes. I am using Outlook for my personal email/contacts/calendar and an exchange server outlook for my business email/contacts/calendar. I would like to be able to sync both outlook profiles. I can get email from both pop and iMap accounts, but it seems that I can only sync one calendar and contacts. When I activated active sync, it synced my exchange server info, but I have no way to sync my Outlook Pop account. Active sync was about to overwrite the other info. Any thoughts?

With your iPhone connected with iTunes, check under the Info tab for your iPhone sync preferences.
3.0 included the ability to sync contacts and calendars direct with the supported application(s) on your computer along with syncing contacts and calendars over the air - at least with a MobileMe account. I'm not sure if the same is available when syncing contacts and calendars OTA with an Exchange account, but it should be.

All of your contacts should be on your computer (Outlook, Address Book for example).

Exchange server - Synergy contact grouping overzealous - "[No email address found]" contact grouping problem

I'm pretty sure I just discovered an issue that needs addressing.
To start, I have 1000+ contacts on my employer's MS Exchange server (with an Outlook client). I'm fairly proud of them, because of all the work I've put into them in terms of removing dupes, eliminating empties, etc. etc. etc. It's high maintanence.
Ever since I got my Pre, it's been grouping a whole slew of contacts (573 to be exact) under some random master contact. For a while, everything was under the IRS, and whenever someone dialed my phone, "IRS" popped up. Yikes! For a while, I was deleteing the master contact & remaking it, but the 573 would just group under some other seemingly random contact. These contacts are completely unrelated (at least to a human, they are). Currently, the master contact card is a guy named "Richard".
Well, I'm pretty sure I found out that what these contacts have in common: they have no email address. Outlook (once again) screws everything up by politely populating the empty email address field with "[No email address found]" (quotes not included). The Pre identifies these contacts as having the same email address, and therefore, eligible to be grouped by Synergy.
2 questions:
Microsoft, why do you do stupid crap like this?! You absolutely ruin things with verbosity. A missing piece of data tells the user as much as a present piece of data. You don't have to actually *say* "This piece of data is not present". It's obvious.

I ended up using the column view trick. Column view -> sort by email address -> click & delete every "[No email address found]" entry. In my experience, I've found that just putting in the digital elbow grease takes less time than using things like scripting.
I'm just sad that these things don't get designed well to begin with. I've got other very basic gripes about the Pre. I'm told it works much better with a Google account. I'd love to jump on that bandwagon, but work is using Exchange. You simply must must must work with Exchange sever since so many big corporations have drunk Bill Gates' Koolaid. But to provide buggy Exchange compatibility is risky, even moreso when your company's future depends on the success of your current device.
Palm is clearly getting into bed with Google at the expense of Microsoft. I suppose that's the way I'd go too, but for the time, Palm's buggy Exchange support sets up RIM to keep running the table with Blackberrys. If they had just done Exchange right, they would have double the sales they have now, and Apple and RIM would really have something to worry about.

How to make Addressbook person's photo sync from Exchange server's Contact photo?

I am using an iPhone 5, with iOS 6.0.1, and connecting to an Exchange Server 2010. In Outlook 2011 on my desktop Mac, I see that many of my contacts have a photo associated with them (photos I added in Outlook). But these photos don't show up in Addressbook on the iPhone, even though the contacts themselves are synchronizing perfectly with Exchange. Any way to make the photos transfer to Addressbook on the iPhone as well?

The suggestions which are shown while naming are a person are taken from-
1. Facebook contacts
2. Person already named and present in catalog.
3. Person once named but deleted later.
You can't get rid of suggestions of 1st and 2nd type. To remove the suggestions from 3rd type, in Organizer, click on 'Find->Using Advanced search'. In this pane under 'People' tab click on drop down right side of this tab and select 'Remove unused names' option.

How do you fix exchange server issues with ios 8?

Ever since 2 users in our company started using iOS 8 with their 5s iphones, they are having issues getting and sending mail through our Exchange Server 2011.
Any solutions?

Z10 exchange server issues

I am having issues, I have a Z10, with an exchange server with Godaddy, everything is sync except the notes inside the folder. It shows the folder is synced but there is nothing in the folder. If I may another folder called Notes1 that folder shows up, but nothing inside. My Tasks are syncing fine.
What can I try?

Do you know what version of Exchange you're running with GoDaddy? If it is running Exchange 2003 it will not sync over memos.
Remember application for BlackBerry 10 requires Exchange 2010 to synchronize the notes and memos.

New contacts added on phone don't show up on synced address book

I use iSync to sync contacts and calendars with my Sony Ericsson T610 phone over Bluetooth. Since upgrading to Leopard, I noticed that when I add a contact on my phone, the contact will never appear in the address book on my Mac. It works fine the other way around and calendar entries added on the phone will show up in iCal.
I've set iSync to sync all contacts. The iSync log doesn't show any errors, but also ever only shows entries like [Mac -> Phone] (for both contacts and calendar entries) and not the other way around, even if I add a calendar entry on the phone (which gets synced fine).
Has anyone else experienced this? Any ideas?

It works now. Maybe it was the 10.5.2 update.

New Contacts on the Phone, and problem syncing with Outlook.

I have an iPhone4 with the iOS5 software. I recently did a sync with my phone (regular sync using iTunes and not iCloud). I had added some new contacts to my phone, but after the sync was complete, the contact was removed from my phone. I assume because it was not added to my Outlook contacts first. Is there a setting in iTunes that will add contacts that are only on my phone to my Outlook contacts? I don't want to have to keep adding all my contacts in two places just so I have them as a backup.

Have you tried a 'One way Sync' coming from the device to the computer only?

Contacts added in iPhone don not sync into Outlook on PC

Has anyone else had this issue: I have added new contacts into my iPhone and have tried to sync the iPhone with Outlook and the newly added contacts do not show up in Outlook Contacts. Is there a method to force sync of newly added contacts?

Yes, the Sync with Outlook is checked on the info tab. My contacts from Outlook have been synced with my iPhone, it is just these newly added contacts on the iPhone did not sync into Outlook.

Ever since beta testing OS4, contacts created on iPhone don't sync

Contacts created in mail or messaging don't sync with MobileMe since I installed iOS4 beta. I have to email the card and import it on my iMac. If I add something to an existing contact, usually that will sync to MobileMe.
Plus 75% of my cards now show two new fields on the bottom under linked cards: iPhone and MobileMe.

Microsoft Exchange Server Issue

Hello everyone,
After sitting around with my IT group yesterday we've ran into a slight issue setting up Microsoft Exchange. When you need to enter the server information it apparently has to be in the form of a domain name, e.g. ms.company.com. My company is telling me that we don't have a domain but rather connect to our server through an IP address. Is there any way to manipulate a host file and point it to the IP or some other work around so that I can recieve company email on my iPhone?

I had the same problem when I first purchased the phone back in May. I had about 60,000.00 emails from the past 5 years in my main server at work that I had not deleted. My IT guy told me that I had to delete my old emails and that the INC works from the main server and I had way over the amount that I should have. I work for a very busy RE firm in NYC and we get about 150 emails a day, which ads up fast. Once I dld as he suggested the phone has not had one problem w/ outlook or syncing again. The Iphone works in the exact same way. BB's operate from their own server so are not as effected by this as much. The phone works great with outlook, and actually quicker and better than my BB. When i enter a new contact on my iPhone 4s ios6 they don't appear in my contacts on my Mac but they appear on my iPhone when i enter them on my Mac

IF you're signed into the same iCloud accoun on Mac/iPhone and it's only syncing "one-way" here's what I'd do.
Probably start with the Mac:
System Preferences->iCloud & Delete the account and everything that is syncing with it from your Mac.
THEN go back into iCloud settings and re-add your account in. That should do it. If it doesn't: push it up a notch and remove the account from BOTH your iPhone & Mac. Then re-add one at a time probably starting with the Mac.

It would seem that someone or Isomethng is working against me. I cannt sync at the offce t want just use my google contacts and I cloud does not let you set anyhing. Just make it work. If Itunes had a contacts manager in it all would be well in Iworld.
