Exchange server Recovery Mailbox

Hi Guys,
I would like to ask if there's a log or any information that can check on the exchange server 2003 and exchange server 2007 if there's a restore mailbox occur on a particular exchange server 2003/2007? Is this can be audit? Let say for example how would I know if the admin guy perform any restore mailbox in a month? is there any log or auditing we can set so that we can track it?
Thanks!

Hi,
You could search your event log whose source is “NTbackup” and check the restore data. Per my knowledge, there is no audit option for this operation.
Thanks,
Elvis

  • Microsoft Exchange server and Mailbox box prompt after migration

We are getting prompted to click OK when we open Outlook on the Microsoft Exchange server and Mailbox dialog box.
We just migrated from 2007 exchange to 2013 exchange and the people with windows 7 seem to be able to access exchange through outlook 2010 without getting prompted.  Also people who are getting prompted are not able to access public folders and our
XP.  Those using windows 7 can access public folders.

    Hi,
From your description, I would like to clarify the following thing:
Windows XP does not like msstd:*.domain and must use msstd:server.domain instead.
So I recommend you set this by updating the CertificateName via EMS.
    1. If you use a wildcard certificate, please run the following cmdlet:
    Set-OutlookProvider EXPR –CertPrincipalName msstd:*.contoso.com
    2. If not please run the Set-OutlookProvider EXPR –CertPrincipalName msstd:$null cmdlet. Once done, repair Outlook profiles and check results.
Besides, when there is a Windows XP user, we recommend SAN certificate not wildcard certificate.
    Hope my clarification is helpful.
If there are any problems, please feel free to let me know.

V-79-57344-65247 - A failure occurred reading an object.
    Also the warning as follows:-

Backup V-79-57344-34108 - An unexpected error occurred when cleaning up snapshot volumes. Confirm that all snapped volumes are correctly resynchronized with the original volumes.
Does it mean my information store is really a corrupted file. It has been properly monted and logs are genearting.
Even when I checked the last full backedup log file from the management shell it clearly shows the backing up is properly happened on the log files.
When I checked the event log of Exchnage server I can see these logs:-

The size of the problem store is 308 GB.
One of the other store with 46 GB is backing up without any issue

    Hi,
If you have a space issue with the Exchange server, you can upgrade drives on active node and passive node one by one. It is not recommended to upgrade them at the same time.

  • Exchange server 2010 mailbox role memory 100% - Virtual machine

    Dear All
Please i need your help to accomplish this work.
we are using two mailbox servers and two hab/cas servers and around 2000 users are using mailbox in my organization.
Each mailbox server roles having 16GB RAM.
all the exchange server running on virtaul machine. until last week we didn't experience any problem. since last week memory and cpu consuming 100% in one of mailbox server.
i checked what are the process running while consuming 100% but couldn't  found any fishy process.
    Parthiban selvaraj

    Hi parthibanselvaraj,
The behavior you see on the mailbox servers for store.exe is completely normal. This is in order to allocate as much data in memory address space as possible, so that each user experience great performance in their Outlook clients.
If another process should need the more memory, the Exchange store.exe process will released it as required. This is by design.
By default, the msExchESEParamCacheSizeMax key is not set, which means the store can allocate the memory it needs dynamically. ESE (store.exe) will grow the cache to consume almost all available RAM on the server if there is no other memory pressure on the
system For example, if the server contains 16gb physical memory, if there is no other memory pressure, one could expect that the store.exe process will grow to use up to 14gb memory (16gb minus 2gb allocated to Kernel mode). This much larger database cache
size results in greatly reduced disk I/O, and is preferred anyways, as reading information from memory is much faster than reading information from disk. If memory pressure occurs, as when other applications request/require memory, ESE will appropriately shrink
the size of the database cache. It’s not recommended to modify the msExchESEParamCacheSizeMax attribute of the information store object. Lowering this value may degrade performance, in terms of server performance as well as in terms of end-user experience.
    Hope it can be helpful.

  • Exchange 2013 mailbox name resolving vs. exchange server name (mailbox rule)

    Hello guys,
I am running exchange 2007 and exchange 2013 CU7 in hybrid mode, while internal autodiscover a record is pointing to exchange 2007 client rule server.
When I configure outlook mailbox located on exchange 2007- I can use autodiscover using mail address ore resolve mailbox name vs. exchange server name.
When I configure outlook mailbox located on exchange 2013- I can configure it only using autodiscover mechanism ( email address - next- next etc.).
We are using EMC backup software which works with MAPI. Since I wasn't able to restore granular mailboxes, I contacted EMC and they claimed that it's very important to configure mailboxes resolving.
What should I check and configure to make it work?

    Hi,
I think if we want to browse single mailbox by backup software, it will be regard to resolve mailbox name using server name, I suggest you contact  EMC supplier to improve it.
By the way, they I type mailbox name which located on exchange 2013 server database and typing exchange 2007 cluster name, server name of exchange 2007 cluster changes automatically to exchange 2013 server on which this mailbox located.
A: first, we should make sure cluster was worked without any problem. Then make sure Exchange 2013 mailbox server was included in cluster.
If there are any questions regarding this issue, please be free to let me know.
    Best Regard,

  • Exchange Server 2013 Mailbox - High CPU Usage

    Hi,
We are having an issue with our Exchange 2013 Mailbox Server.
The process Microsoft.Exchange.Store.Worker consumes most of the CPU utilization.
Have anyone encountered this issue? How were you able to resolve it?
    Thanks

    Hi,
According to your description, your database is not active. And to understand more about the issue, I’d like to confirm if there is some user experience slow connection or other performance issue.
However, since in Exchange 2013 single Store Worker Process is only responsible for one database, we can firstly confirm if the specific mailbox database causes the high CPU:

    Hi,
This issue indicate corrupted database or corrupted logs. I suggest you to check and repair the database or check and repair the database log.
    1. Check the state of database by following command: eseutil /mh "Path of the database"
    Ps: Default path of the database is “C:\Program Files\Microsoft\Exchange Server\V15\Mailbox\Mailbox Database\Mailbox Database.edb”
Default path of the log files is “C:\Program Files\Microsoft\Exchange Server\V15\Mailbox\Mailbox Database\E00”
    2. If the state is in clean shutdown, move all the log files from the Transaction logs folder location and then mount the database.
    3. If the state is in dirty shutdown, check if the log files that is indicated as Logs required is available or not.
    4. You can run Eseutil ml “Path of the log file\e00” to make sure that the log files is required is in a Clean state. This command will help you check the health of all the log files in the location.
    5. If the log files are healthy, then try Soft recovery with the command Eseutil /r e00 /l ”Path of log files” /p “Path of the database”
    Note:
Make sure you make a backup of the database before attempting any kind of repairs
    6. Once the command completes successfully, then mount the database.
    7. In case the required log files are not available in a clean state or missing, either restore from a successful back up or perform Hard repair with defragment.
Refer to this file about hard repair:

  • MimeMessage.reply() issue with MS Exchange Server 2007 Emails

I have an application that retrieves emails from an MS Exchange Server 2003 mailbox. The data from each message is read, validated and conditionally loaded to a table. If the message doesn't pass validation, a rejection email is sent back to the sender with an error message and a copy of the email. (We're using Java 1.5. However, I test with both 1.5 and 1.6.)
Also, if the message passes validation, positive notification is sent back to the sender.
Both processes use the method: javax.mail.Message.reply()It's coded as:
MimeMessage reply = (MimeMessage) message.reply(false); My organization is in the process of migrating to MS Exchange Server 2007. We've found that the reply() method no longer finds the sender method, thus unable to create a reply message. The error message we receive is:

When the original message is accessed using IMAP, the reply method uses the information in the
IMAP ENVELOPE to determine where to send the reply. It first looks for the Reply-To address
in the ENVELOPE, then the From address.
Interestingly, when not using IMAP, the getFrom method returns the Sender header if the From
header is empty. The IMAP-specific code doesn't do that, although perhaps it should.
It would be interesting to compare the ENVELOPE data from the protocol trace in the two cases.
The ENVELOPE data will follow this syntax:
    envelope     = "(" env-date SP env-subject SP env-from SP
              env-sender SP env-reply-to SP env-to SP env-cc SP
              env-bcc SP env-in-reply-to SP env-message-id ")"
So it's the first three address fields after the Subject that are relevant. If the From and Reply-To
fields are NIL, but the Sender field has a valid address, let me know. I should probably fix the
IMAP provider to fall back to the Sender field if the From field is missing.

I am experiencing the same problem except that mine is definitely NOT a domain controller.  The error code indicates that the process is attempting to grant Network Access to the Certificate during Setup, but fails.

Exchange 2013 is being installed on Windows Server 2012 R2 but it is a member server with no domain responsibilities.  Granting rights to the certificate during the Setup process is the root of the problem.
