Exchange Server Support - 2003 not 2007

My hosts use Exchange Server 2003 still. Does that mean the new Exchange server functionality in Snow Leopard etc. won't work? The reason I ask is that I can't get the address book connected to the Exchange server now.
Thx.

Thanks. That looks to be about the size of it from here too. I spoke to the hosts and they have no plans to upgrade yet. I have configured Mail for IMAP and it seems to work ok.
Thanks for your time there.

  • Which versions of Microsoft exchange server supports Exchange OLE DB Provider (ExOLEDB)

    Hi everyone,
Can anyone tell me which versions of Microsoft exchange server supports Exchange OLE DB Provider (ExOLEDB)?  Is Exchange server 2007, 2010 and 2013 support it?
    Thanks

Exchange OLE DB was removed from Exchange Server 2010 in Jan 2010. So, it is only available with Exchange
    2007, 2003 and 2000. You can visit http://blogs.msdn.com/b/deva/archive/2010/01/13/update-technologies-not-available-with-exchange-2010-their-migration-reference-s.aspx

  • Windows Server 2008 R2 Standard "Certificate Authority Service" / Exchange Server 2010 EMC not starting and no AD connectivity for authentication.

    Hello,
I am a new IT Manager at this company and need assistance big time. Their environment looks as follows:
Server 1. Domain Controller Server (Windows Server 2008 R2 Standard) running active directory.
Server 2. Email Server (Windows Server 2008 R2 Standard) running Exchange Server 2010 .
    * Note. No back ups to work with aside from whats mentioned below.
DC had a virus infection causing a lot of issues on the shared network drives 2 days ago locking up all the files with a crypto ransom virus. Running Avast suppressed the infection. Had to recover the file shares which luckily had a back up.
The issue is that the Exchange Server 2 post this lost connectivity with the AD Server 1. Exchange Server 2 when launching EMC could not launch the console stating the following:
"No Exchange servers are available in any Active Directory sites. You can’t connect to remote
Powershell on a computer that only has the Management Tools role installed."
Shortly after I found that it is possible the EMC launcher was corrupt and needed to be reinstalled following another blog post. I deleted the exchange management console.msc  per instructions only to discover I couldnt relaunch it because there was
no way how. So I copied another msc file that happened to be on the DC Server 1  back to Exchange Server 2 and got it to launch again.
Another post said that it might be an issue with the Domain Account for the Computer, so to delete it in the AD Server 1 only to find that rejoining it from Exchange Server 2 using Computer>Properties> Chage Settings > Change is greyed out because
it is using the Certificate Authority Service.
I tried manually re-adding the computer in AD and modeling permissions after another server in group settings but no go. After this I was unable to login to the Exchange Server 2 with domain accounts but only local admin, receiving the following Alert:
"The Trust Relationship between this workstation and primary domain failed."
I tried running the Power Shell tools on Exchange Server 2 to rejoing and to reset passwords for domain accounts as noted in some other blogs but no luck as the Server 2 could not make the connection with Server1 or other errors it kept spitting out.
I also during the investigation found the DNS settings were all altered on both the Server 1 and Server 2 which I luckily was able to change back to original because of inventorying it in the beginning when I started.
I need help figuring out if I need to rejoin the Exchange Server 2 manually by disabling the Certificate Authority Service (or removing the CA as listed here:
    https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/exchange/en-US/fb23deab-0a12-410d-946c-517d5aea7fae/windows-server-2008-r2-with-certificate-authority-service-to-rejoin-domain?forum=winserversecurity
and getting exchange server to launch again. (Mind you I am relatively fresh to server managing) Please help E-Mail has been down for a whole day now!

  • When sending e-mail messages to a mail-enabled public folder that have been replicated from old Exchange Server 2000/2003/2007, Exchange Server 2010 environment mails are rejected with NDR.

Hi, I would like to share with you issue that I’ve solved regarding mail-enabled PF that migrated from Exchange 2000/2003/2007 to 2010, I’ve searched & contacted my MVP leader – there’s no official KB regarding this issue right
now, so I’m posting here in order to share this among others.
Note: There’s article(s) that talked about PF replication from Exch2000/2003/2007 to 2010 – this is the same issue as well.
    Symptoms
E-mail messages that been sent to mail-enabled public folder in Exchange Server 2010 environment rejected with the following NDR:
“#< #5.2.0 smtp;554 5.2.0 STOREDRV.Deliver.Exception:ObjectNotFoundException; Failed to process message due to a permanent exception with message The Active Directory user wasn’t found. ObjectNotFoundException: The Active Directory
    user wasn’t found.> #SMTP#”
Sometimes Exchange Server 2010 is documented as well Event ID 1020 on the Event Viewer with this information:
    “Log Name: Application
    Source: MSExchange Store Driver
    Event ID: 1020
    Level: Error
    Description:
The store driver couldn’t deliver the public folder replication message "Hierarchy ([email protected])" because the following error occurred: The Active Directory user wasn't found.”
    Cause
In an environment where Microsoft Exchange Server 2000 or Microsoft Exchange Server 2003 previously existed, and all those servers have been removed, there is a chance that an Administrative Group (First Administrative Group or another custom Administrative
Group) remains with a Servers container, but no servers inside it.
During replication, when the Exchange 2010 Store Driver sees the empty Servers container in Active Directory, it's expecting a System Attendant object inside the container and when it is not found the error occurs.
    Resolution
To work around the issue, delete the empty Servers container. This can't be done through Exchange System Manager. Use the ADSI Edit tool to remove it using the following steps:
Warning If you use the ADSI Edit snap-in, the LDP utility, or any other LDAP version 3 client, and you incorrectly modify the attributes of Active Directory objects, you can cause serious problems. These problems may require you to reinstall Microsoft Windows
2003 Server, Microsoft Windows Server 2008, Microsoft Exchange 2010 Server or both Windows and Exchange. Microsoft cannot guarantee that problems that occur if you incorrectly modify Active Directory object attributes can be solved. Modify these attributes
    at your own risk.
    1.
Start the ADSI Edit MMC Snap-in. Click Start, then
Run, and type adsiedit.msc, and then click OK.
    2.
Connect & Expand the Configuration Container [YourServer.DNSDomainName.com], and then expand
    CN=Configuration,DC=DNSDomainName,DC=com.
    3.
Expand CN=Services, and then CN=Microsoft Exchange, and then expand
    CN=YourOrganizationName.
    4.
You will see an empty Administrative Group. Expand the
    CN=YourAdministrativeGroupName.
    5.
    Expand CN=Servers.
    6.
Verify there are no server objects listed under the
    CN=Servers container.
    7.
Right click on the empty CN=Servers container and choose
    Delete.
    8.
Verify the modification, and try to send again the E-mail to the mail-enabled public folder.

Sounds like you are looking in the wrong Administrative Group container which is why you are seeing your Exchange 2010 servers in there.
When you install Exchange 2003 only you will see a container named by default as "CN=First Administrative Group" container. But this could be named anything if you changed the Organization Name on the installation when you installed the first
Exchange 2003 server into the domain/forest.
You will notice that when you install Exchange 2010 part of the AD setup is to create a new configuration container and is named by default "CN=First Administrative Group (FYDIBOHF23SPDLT)".
So it sounds like you are not looking in the right location within ADSIEdit.
You may find the following article also helpful for this issue which is the same resolution:
    http://blogs.technet.com/b/sbs/archive/2012/05/17/empty-cn-servers-container-causing-issues-with-public-folders-on-small-business-server-2011.aspx
I recommend though that you ensure your Exchange 2003 servers are fully uninstalled or no longer present in your environment before you go deleting the Servers container though.. The following Microsoft article will help with this:

  • KB953804 for delegatesentitemsstyle in Outlook 2003 in combination with Exchange Server 2010 SP1 not working.

KB953804 Full  title  "Hotfix for An e-mail message does not appear in a user's mailbox if the e-mail message was sent on behalf of the user by a delegate in Outlook 2003."
We have this working for ok Outlook 2003 SP3 in combination with Exchange Server 2003 SP2.  Now for mailboxes that are moved to our new Exchange 2010 environment the hotfix stopped working. The sent items get stuck in the outbox of the delegate instead
of moving to the user in whose name the mail was sent. It does not matter if the user mailbox is on 2003 or 2010 as long as the delegated user is on Exchange 2010 SP1 it fails. We use Outlook 2003 SP3 in online mode.  Does anyone know how to fix this
or maybe someone knows an alternative way to move the mails to the sent items with Exchange2010 SP1.

    Hi,
I'd like to know how did you set "send on behalf",from outlook give delegation permission or from Exchange Server give "send as" right?
Please try to use get-adpermission to verify if the user has "send as" right.

  • Exchange Server 2013 Database not showing in ECP after removal of Exchange Server 2010

I recently complete the migration of my Exchange 2010 server to Exchange 2013. I then proceeded to uninstall the 2010 server using setup.com /m:uninstall. At the end of the process I received an error that it did not complete the uninstall.
I checked the server and Exchanged 2010 was removed. When I checked ECP on 2013 it still showed the old 2010 server listed. I used ADSI edit and manually removed the old sever.
Now when I log into 2013 ECP I only see the one serve but when I go into databases, none are listed. I check under the server itself and it shows the database that it is using but it is not listed under the database tab.
If I do a search under the database tab I can find it and adds it to the list. I can then open and view details.
My issue is, after I log out and then back in, I have to run the search to find the database again. In ideas on how to have it show up in the list like it did  before I removed the 2010 Exchange server?
    Thank you,

    Hi,
From your description, I recommend you verify the following things for troubleshooting:
    1. Please make sure that AD replication is completely by checking the user object's homeMDB attribute. This value should contain the DN value of the Exchange Server 2013 mailbox database.
    2. Wait 30 minutes for the cache on the Exchange Server 2013 Client Access Server to clear or restart the MSExchangeOWAAppPool on the Exchange Server 2013 Client Access Server.

  • Exchange server support code 0x80070057

I could not find this code on the Active Sync error codes support page , but at the same time i get the code 0x85002003 in the MS Active Sync software window, which basically says it wasn't able to connect to the exchange server.
Is this Exchange server code essentially saying the same thing as the Active Sync code ?
After having uninstalled Sprite backup agent the sync process seems to have gone to the cows.
Much abliged to anyone with wisdom here

ok , i beleive the cause was partly uninstalling Sprite backup agent , but possibly also a "human made" problem. (go figure)  I ended up deleting the server information , moving my email , contacts and calendar sync back to my work PC , then reinstalled the exchange server information and set up the links again for email etc on the exchange.
Lo and behold its now doing what its supposed to do but only if it is not cable connected to my work PC via the USB port.
If its USB connected , the phone will error trying to connect to dial out to the high speed data connection for any of my mail , including POP mail accounts.    Is this normal ??

  • Using Exchange Web Service (EWS) Streaming Notifications for a shared mailbox in Exchange Server, works or not?

    Hi,
I am planning to develop an application to use EWS managed API streaming notification for listening the new email event of a shared mailbox. Will it will work or not? I knew it works for a personal mailbox, where the authentication of EWS can be performed
with the associated Active directory account. For the shared mailbox in Exchange Server, is there such an Active Directory account associated?
    Thanks,
    Richard

    >> Are you saying that if an Active Directory account has the access to a shared mailbox, and then this account can be used for creating the Streaming subscription for that mailbox
Yes that's correct (try it yourself with the EWSEditor)
    >> In other words, the way how Exchange Server works is that the new messages like new emails are automatically sending to all of the AD accounts which have the access to a mailbox.
Not sure what you mean by this ? A Shared a Mailbox is just like any other Exchange Mailbox if you have rights to the Folder then you can create a subscription against it. There is no automation involved.
    Cheers

  • Streaming Notifications for a shared mailbox in Exchange Server, works or not?

    Hi,
I am planning to develop an application to use EWS managed API streaming notification for listening the new emails of a shared mailbox. Could you please tell it will works or not? I knew it works for a personal mailbox, where the authentication of EWS can
be performed with the associated Active directory account. For the shared mailbox in Exchange Server, how it works?
    Thanks,

If you are using EWS to access a mailbox other than the one connected to a specific account, you will want to check out EWS impersonation.  I've found it to be more reliable than any other method for accessing a second mailbox.

  • Exchange Server 2013 does not deliver mail as they arive.

I need Help and guidance on this problem. I have installed Exchange server 2013 with SP1 on Server 2012. Install Went perfect no error. It on a server with 2 TB storage. 16G
memory. Exchange 2013 is the only application running on the box. DNS service is also running on the box. I can see the mail arrive in the mail Box Queue with the Queue Viewer and they would just sit there and then after a 15 to 30 min delay it release the
mail to the mail boxes. The only error or warning I am seeing in the logs are the 6002 warning. Any suggestion would be greatly appreciated.

Please share message header of one of the delayed message. It will help to narrow down the issue.
Do you see any connection failures in connectivity logs.
Do you have multiple 2013 servers in your exchange environment ?
    Lets fix it.

  • IPhone sync to exchange server calendar does not sync any longer, mail is no problem.

Hi we are running Exchange 2003 and we suddenly discovered some users now cant get their calendar to sync. If we add anything in outlook it wont show up in the iphone and it is the same the other way around.
We done total reset on the phone, switched the phone to a htc mini and tried that same problem there the calendar does not sync. this is only happening for about 5 users out of 150 users. I have tried reset the profile in outlook.
I dont know where to start looking to solve this issue.  Hope anyone can shed some light here

    Hi,
Please try to collect IIS log and then use "activesync" as keyword to have a search.
Also we can use logparser to analyze the log.
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/scriptcenter/dd919274
Besides, please try to test if the issue would occur when we use those problematic iphone to sync with working user's mailbox.

  • Integrating CRM with hosted Exchange server that is not Office 365

I started out by setting up our domain, but it seems to be pushing me to add loads of DNS records so that Office 365 can use it.  Firstly, do I have to use an Office 365 hosted Exchange, or can I use an alternative (my Exchange is hosted with COLT CEANO)
When I try and create an email server profile, I only have the ability to specify a name and description - the fields to specify incoming and outgoing servers etc. are not visible.
I expect I am doing something fundamentally wrong, can anyone assist ?
    Thanks.

If you are refering to the email function in CRM, then you have 3 option
    1. Server side sync
    2. Outlook client
    3. Email router
You can use your own exchange to send out email.

  • Can Mac 10.5 OD Server support AD schema neccesary for Microsoft Exchange

Does anyone know if the Active Directory schema in Open Directory 10.5 is sufficent to support a bound Microsoft exchange server running 2003 or 2007?
By that I mean could I utilize user accounts on a 10.5 Mac OD server on an internal exchange server in the same domain, so that the Mac Server authenticates the user and the exchange can deliver the mail?
    All comments gratefully received

Thanks for the quick read and response. Do you feel the issue might lie with the fact that it is a Mac Mini? And possibly just not powerful enough to run Leopard Server? I have to say in our trials with MacPro it was like night and day as to how they performed. And if you could elaborate on this "Many VPNs don't play well with NAT so your VPN server should have a direct connection to the public network (preferably firewalled, of course, but not NATted)." Most every SoHo and for that matter uses simple NAT translation for security even our multi thousand dollar Cisco PIX and ASA's are basic NAT devices to start with. How would you put the VPN on public net while keeping the attack surface low for the rest of the services like file, web, mail and print?
Don't get me wrong I want this to work more than you can imagine. We are so tired of supporting MSFT technologies that cost thousands a year in antivirus, antispyware, antispam and other malware protection for the enterprise. We know that Leopard has great potential but for an integrator, getting this system up and functional is not an easy task. And the worst part of it is every time we have called for support the tech always lets out a sigh when they hear we have run standard setup because they are not allowed to walk us thru the server console to make repairs. And have been told by 3 techs so far that this is a new product and the support avenues are not there for standard since it just supposed to work out of the box. But when it doesn't then ohh well. Which is sorta sad...

  • MacBook 10.4.7 not talking to Windows 2003/Exchange server

    Hi folks
Have a new MacBook 2GHz running 10.4.7, trying to talk to a Windows 2003 network at work. Services needed are Exchange server support (for Microsoft Entourage) and some shared drives over a domain on the Windows server machine. Experiencing problems with both!
Re. shared drives, browsing the network via Finder window sporadically shows up some or all of the Windows machines connected to the network, and the shared drive. It is possible to connect to some of the Windows machines directly, although this is inconsistent. However when attempting to connect to the shared drive, the alias appears correctly, but filling in the details (workgroup, name and password) just leads to an error message saying that the alias could not be found, with the option to delete or fix the alias. Fixing opens up another Finder window but the network is greyed out so you can't point to the shared drive!
Attempting to connect via Connect To Server, either by browsing or entering the smb address line, also allows one to enter the workgroup, name and password, but simply says 'could not connect to the server because the name or password is not correct' (even though it is).
Firewall is on but allowing Windows Sharing. AppleTalk is active. Connecting over a wireless network but ethernet connection seems to make no odds.
In terms of Entourage, the system simply wont find the Exchange server, which I'm presuming may be symptomatic of whatever is causing the above!
    Any help/ideas/thoughts most gratefully received.
    Cheers

    MacBook 2GHz   Mac OS X (10.4.7)

I hope this helps.  But, Apple has confirmed a significant bug in 10.7.4 that breaks SMB.  Their support says they are working on it, but they do not know when the fix will be released.  It has broken SMB at all sites I support including my own location where Lion server has the updated version as well.  Only AFP works but not consistently.  The suggestion is to restore 10.7.3 from a backup or wait until the fix is released.  SMB does work - but only when admin authentication is used on Mac servers - don't know about Windows Servers.  I do know the client side of Mac's also are affected with SMB issues.  Good luck!
