Exchange Sync - Contacts GONE!

Hey everyone -
I'm hoping that maybe some of you can help me out - I would really really appreciate it!
Here it goes:
I added an exchange account and set contacts to sync.
After they had sync'd I removed the exchange account.
Now when I check my contacts they are not in my exchange/Outlook and ALL contacts are missing from my iPhone.
This is really important information for me.
Any ideas?
Thanks
iRock292

When you add an exchange account, it does not merge the contacts you have on your phone with the ones on the exchange server. It simply removes the ones on your phone and syncs them with the exchange server.
Mind you, it did warn you when you set this up that it would delete all local contacts.
If you still have a computer that synced by USB cable, then remove the exchange account from the phone, resync and get contacts back onto the phone.
Now, setup iTunes so it syncs/merges the contacts on the iPhone with the contacts on exchange. After you have done this, you can readd the exchange account on the phone and it will pull all your contacts from the exchange server down.

  • Iphone exchange sync contacts

When I try to sync my Contacts then my Iphone fineshes (circle don't rotate in status bar) at 118 or 243 contacts without an error.
In my Outlook (Exchange account) I have 388 contacts and 93 proposed contacts so 481 all exchange contacts.
Is there a limit for exchange sync contacts?
I tested it with an Itunes (10.2.2) connection and gprs connection the same result...
    Any idea?
    E-mail sync is ok.

I read that Google Contacts exchange does not support this second mobile field, I will have to use a fax mobile, or something like that.

  • Exchange Synced Contacts Lose Custom Ringtones After 24 Hours

Currently running iPhone 3GS with 3.1 against a Windows Exchange 2003 Server utilizing Active Sync. Once I assign custom ringtones to my contacts (that are synced from Exchange) after about 24 hours all ringtones are reverted back to Default.
Anyone else having this issue or is there a solution?

Actually, I thought a system update does do a backup and restore. I thought it wiped out the data, applied the system OS, then restored the data. Otherwise how would all of the settings, applications, and other data be in the same status as before the update? In any case, I wouldn't have thought that all contact data would need to be re-applied afterwards. But actually my main problem, aside from this, is that my contacts are consistently losing their custom ringtones. I use push services for my contacts, and I can understand why re-population of my contact data loses them since a ringtone isn't a maintained data field in Exchange, but this situation only makes it worse if I'll lose ringtones after every system update.

  • Sync up with outlook mail and calendar, now all contacts gone

what the ****? I set up my exchange email account from work on my fone and all my contact information is gone!?

    Hi,
I activated Exchange sync for contacts and also Mobile Me sync for Address Book in the first phase when I started to use my iPhone 3G. So I didn't lost any local contacts on my phone. Both Exchange and Mobile Me work on my phone simultaneously.
I can put Mobile Me sync off and those contacts will disappear from my phone. And when I re-connect Mobile Me, contacts sync fine back to my phone.
I have minor problem though, Exchange sync works fine from my phone to server and vice versa. But Mobile Me seems not to work from Address Book to Phone. When I do this disconnect - reconnect workaround I can get the results I'm looking for, but it's not that user-friendly and "it's only working"-type procedure to do.
Any ideas where could be the problem?

  • Any ideas for how to sync to Exchange 2003 - contacts and calendar

    Hi
I am still searching for a mechanism to give me the sync solution I want, which is as follows:
At work I have a PC running Outlook 2003 via an Exchange Server 2003 setup.
At home I have an iMac running Snow Leopard
In the middle I have an iPhone 3G
I want to sync Calendar and Contacts across all three machines.
I want to sync work email between the Exchange server and the iphone, but do NOT need this to sync on my iMac at home
    That's it.
At the moment I can sync email, calendars and contacts successfully between the Exchange server and iPhone, using the over-the-air Exchange Sync on the iPhone. But sadly my iMac will not sync contacts and calendars to the exchange server 2003 as Snow Leopard only supports exchange 2007.
Ironically (because I don't need this bit to work) I have managed to get my iMac to sync with my Exchange server EMAIL, by selecting the Exchange IMAP option when setting up the mail account on my iMac (as opposed to the Exchange 2007 option). However, I cannot get iCal or Address book to sync with Exchange 2003, regardless of the options I select when setting up the new accounts in Address book or iCal. I guess these just do not work with Exchange 2003
I know that I cannot use mobileme as a solution, as you cannot have two over-the-air syncs going on, and I need to maintain my iphone link to the exchange server via activesync
I also know that using itunes to sync via the cable will not work, as this creates separate contacts and calendar files on the iphone and so does not provide the syncing solution I seek.
I have tried using google to act as the middle man between my iMac and Exchange server data - getting the iMac to sync to Google Calandar and Google Address Book, and then using a third party piece of software called gsyncit to sync from google to the .ost outlook file on my PC workstation. This works some of the time, but keeps crashing and leaving me with multiple duplicates to have to sort out - much too much hard work on a regular basis.
So I still do not have a solution. Unfortunately upgrading to Exchange server 2007 is not a solution.....
    Any new ideas out there
    Thanks

I don't think there will be a solution to this. Exchange 2003 just isn't supported.

  • TS3988 My wife bought an iPad Air and synced contact from our PC (Outlook), now all our contacts in Outlook have gone and we have to go to iCloud to get them, and even then they are a bit jumbled. How do I get my data back onto my PC?

My wife bought an iPad Air and synced contact from our PC (Outlook), now all our contacts in Outlook have gone and we have to go to iCloud to get them, and even then they are a bit jumbled. How do I get my data back onto my PC?

If you can see the iCloud contacts in Outlook, you can copy them back to your PC by selecting all the contacts (click one, then press Control-A), then drag and drop the selected contacts to Contacts under My Contacts on the left sidebar of Outlook.
If you want to copy your calendar back to Outlook, select your iCloud calendar on the left sidebar of Outlook, switch to the list view (select View from the ribbon, then click Change View>List), select your events (click on a single event, then press Control-A), then control drag and drop them to Calendar under My Calendars on the left sidebar.
Then you can sign out of iCloud on the iCloud control panel and your local copies will still be there.  If you want to add your iCloud email account back to iCloud, you can do this with these settings: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4864.

  • All contacts gone after deleting old Outlook (exchange) mail account from iphone.  How to get contacts back?

I deleted an old company mail account and when doing so it deleted all the contacts on the iphone.  How can I get them back?  Can I do a restore where I import ONLY the contacts?  Or does Restore just overwrite everything?
When I connect my phone with itunes and go to the "Info" tab, it asks me if I want to "Sync Contacts with Outlook" where outlook is a choice from a dropdown menu.  The question I have is what contacts are stored on itunes, if any, and which way it will write them --->  phone to itunes or itunes to phone.  Since my phone contact folder is empty right now, I want to get these back from itunes.  I am hoping those outlook contacts are stored on itunes and can then be downloaded to my phone, but I do not want to do a complete restore as the last time the phone was synced was a long time ago and contacts will be lost.  If the sync writes an empty contacts folder onto itunes then the restore will not even be an option.  Just want to make sure I do not overwrite any contacts that are stored on itunes.
By the way, icloud for contacts was not on so I do not have that route of recovery.
    Help.

Exchange contacts exist only on the Exchange server, and are automatically deleted when the account is remove.  This is standard security policy of Exchange accounts.  They would not have been backed up to iCloud in any event.

  • Versamail Exchange ActiveSync wireless push e-mail ONLY; Sync Contacts/Calendar via Desktop/USB

I use a 3rd party conduit, PalmPilot Link for Commence RM CRM software from Commence Corp. which works with the Palm Desktop sync engine to sync my Contacts, Calendar, Tasks and Memos. Recently I tested VersaMail 3.5.5 on my Rogers Treo 680 (despite zero support from Rogers) with push e-mail and loved it until I discovered I could no longer sync my Contacts and Calendar with Commence. Even with the options in VersaMail to sync Contacts and the Calendar unchecked they would not sync via the USB cable to Commence.
I have come across Palm Article ID: 42600 which states "Once you establish an Exchange ActiveSync account in VersaMail, you will not be able to sync Calendar, Contacts or Email through the USB HotSync cable". It would be nice if this wasn't the case when synching of Contacts and the Calendar are turned off. A call to technical support confirmed there is no way to do what I need with the current product version.
I have found a competitive product, RoadSync from DataViz does allow me to sync ONLY e-mail with ActiveSync so it would seem to be technically possible.  The problem with RoadSync is it's not a true push e-mail on the Treo 680 as far as I can tell and it seems a little pricey with fewer features than VersaMail, except for one feature which is very important to anyone who depends on 3rd party conduits.
Please consider releasing a new version or a patch to allow synching Contacts and the Calendar via USB while using Exchange ActiveSync push e-mail.
Note: The Commence CRM product for Windows has been around for almost 20 years and has supported the Palm OS for about 10 years. Commence users everywhere would love this feature in VersaMail. I do not work for Commence Corp. but have been a user since 1991 and a Palm user since 1999.

  • Syncing contacts and calendar with outlook and gmail - use Exchange or not?

I need to sync my contacts and calendar between my iphone and Outlook and google on my laptop. Syncing via iTunes is fine as a backup but not as a constant process. I then saw that Gmail would permit an Exchange account to be used to allow immediate syncing so I installed an Exchange account on the iphone. It works but I now have doubled contacts. Is there a better way of doing this to avoid duplicate contacts? If I dedupe the contacts on the iphone do I risk then deleting contacts in Outlook on my PC? Alternatively if I delete the Exchange account on the iPhone is there a simple way of keeping calendars in sync on Iphone, Google and Outlook? (I just have two gmail accounts and do not have a Microsoft Exchange server)
Grateful for any useful advice on this issue!

FYI I eventually developed a work around that works better. I have a mac at home and a window pc at work. You can use plaxo to sync contacts between the two and the ipod syncs with the mac as advertised. Also as a bonus you don't have to deal with any issues, problems and pains with multiple itunes locations...

  • IPad no syncing Contacts via Exchange Active Sync

We have set up a Exchange 2003 server with Active Sync and everything is working good except it is not syncing the users contacts. Any ideas?

You mean on the device? Yeah, it's set to sync contacts as well as Calendar and Email.

  • Sync Contacts between Exchange account and MobileMe account

On my iPad I use two different email accounts: one Exchange account with ActiveSync and one MobileMe account.
How can I consolidate or sync Contacts between the two accounts?
At least, I would like to be able to move contacts from my MobileMe account to my Exchange account. Is that possible?
Thanks in advance for any hints or advice.

You could each add the others iCloud to your devices as a secondary account in mail, contacts, calendars and just enable the services you wish to use.

  • IOS Exchange Account Contact Sync Issues

Issues: (1) Duplicate, Triplicate, Quadruplicate, Quintuplicate Contact Entries (2) Erratic Proliferation (3) New Inputed Contacs Disappear, Reappear and Disappear, never to be registered in the exchange service. (4) Problem started with iOS 5. More Info: iPhone 4, iPhone 4s and iPad1. One Windows 7 desktop and One Windows 7 notebook. Microsoft Office 365 Online service.
For years I have been using Exchange to sync my e-mail, calendar and contacts, across my windows machines and my ios devices. Since some months ago, my contact entries started to profilate erraticaly on my iPhone and iPad, some times duplicating and other times triplicating or quintuplicating all or some of entries. The solution was to UNCHECK and RE-CHECK sync contact information inside the mail settings of the ios device. Number of entries were not affected in Outlook or the Online Web Server. Most recently, contacts inputed in the iOS device, on the road, disappeared, reappeared and disappeared again in the iOS device, never to be registered by the Exchange server, losing vital information.

I noticed that you have all mentioned iPhone 4s, to be the ones with this issue.  A handful of my end users just upgraded to the new iPhone 4s and they are having this issue.  However, one of the users with the issues still uses their iPhone 4 for international and that one works fine.
My iPhone 4 is running iOS 5.1.1, my MBP 17" 2010 model running Lion they both work fine with both Office 365 and Exchange 2010.
This may just be an issue with the iPhone 4s.  Since ActiveSync just synchronizes, then it's skewing up the Contacts folder, hence spreading it to the other devices.
Microsoft is holding Apple responsible, since other devices with EAS work just fine, and Apple reps claim that this will be resolved in the next update; how long must we have to wait?!?!?

  • Pixi won't sync contacts or calendar with Exchange

I have a pixi and setup the exchange sync.  Email is working great, but no contacts or calendar sync is occuring.   I've tried deleting the account and adding it back in contacts, it did not work.  Tried the same thing using the calendar accoutn add, again not sync of contacts or calendar but email worked every time.  Is there soemthing on the server that needs to be set, other in the ocmpany run iPhones and Blackberrys with no issue.

The pixi downloaded some updates yesterday and amazing everything works.  You would think the first thing a new hone would do would be check for updates.  Not wait a week after it been running.

  • New iPhone 5 syncs contacts to Microsoft Exchange over the air?

Just got a new iPhone 5. It's not syncing my contacts. I've tried everything I can find here. However, there's this one little difference. In iTunes, I'm being told that my contacts are being synced with Microsoft Exchange over the air. ***? I don't have Microsoft anything on my comptuer!
This is a new iPhone 5. I've imported all my contacts from my previous phone which has never been synced with anything. (Syncing didn't exist when I bought the phone.) I've switched all of the contanct information on, and ... nothing. I've tried syncing via iTunes. I've tried sycning via iCloud.
Any new additions I make will sync via icloud (or iTunes), but none of the old contact information will sync to my comptuer. I know it has something to do with the "syncing with Micorsoft Exchange" message, but I have no idea how or why it defaulted to that setting. How do I change it? How do I get my contacts to sync from my phone to my computer?
    Thanks.

    randers4,
Thank you for your reply. Strangely, the offending email account was the account set up at the store (not Apple store) for an iTunes account. I have no idea why they would have turned on the exchange sync in the fisrt place.
I now know how to turn off the exchange sync. However, I'm not given the option of keeping the contacts on my iPhone if I switch it off. It will delete all of my contacts. Is there a way to avoid this? I'm sure I read something in the discussions here, can you point me back in the right direction? The same thing is going to happen wiith my emails. Unfortunately, I have dozens of emails already...
    Again, thanks for your help.

  • Removing "On My iPhone" Contacts group: Google (Exchange) Sync

    Hi guys,
I've got all my contacts properly syncing with Google Sync.
But as soon as I set it up on the iPhone, I get this empty folder in Contacts "On My iPhone"/"All on My iPhone", as well as Exchange Contacts and Exchange Global Address List.
Then I have to change Settings/Mail, Contacts, Calendars/Contacts/Default Account to "Exchange" rather than "On My iPhone".
Is there any way to just remove "All on my iPhone" empty directory, or is it impossible with Exchange syncing?
    Thanks.

Hmmm, that would work, but in iOS you can't manage the groups and such, how would I do that exactly?
