Exchange to iphone contacts issues

I had problems with some of my exchange contact missing from my iphone.
After reading through the forums tried making my first name / last name order the same in exchange as the order in my iphone. Its a bit boring but in exchange i opened each of the missing contacts and changed the "file as" to first name last name and bingo they instantly appeared in my phone. Happy Days!!

Sorting is just a view function, it does not modify what's on the server which is what the iPhone is connected to.

  • Corporate Corporate Exchange server sync contact issue

Corporate Corporate Exchange server sync procedure works as it should except : When I go to Contact Groups menu all of my contacts from the exchange server are now at the top, in the 'Not Assigned' area. For normal contact use this does not seem to be a problem for phone or email. But when I try to set up a group, under 'Corporate', only a random couple of the 671 contacts are available. How can I do a sync so that the contacts appear under 'Corporate' or 'Phone', when in the Group menu, or move them down to this area?
    Thanks in advance for help,

I ended up using the column view trick.  Column view -> sort by email address -> click & delete every "[No email address found]" entry.  In my experience, I've found that just putting in the digital elbow grease takes less time than using things like scripting.
I'm just sad that these things don't get designed well to begin with.  I've got other very basic gripes about the Pre.  I'm told it works much better with a Google account.  I'd love to jump on that bandwagon, but work is using Exchange.  You simply must must must work with Exchange sever since so many big corporations have drunk Bill Gates' Koolaid.  But to provide buggy Exchange compatibility is risky, even moreso when your company's future depends on the success of your current device.
Palm is clearly getting into bed with Google at the expense of Microsoft.  I suppose that's the way I'd go too, but for the time, Palm's buggy Exchange support sets up RIM to keep running the table with Blackberrys.  If they had just done Exchange right, they would have double the sales they have now, and Apple and RIM would really have something to worry about.

  • Iphone contacts issue

    Hello,
I have just got a macbook pro and somehow despite never being connected to either my iphone or my wifes iphone, she has had all her contacts replaced with mine.
Her computer has stopped working and her phone has not been synced to her new pc laptop so no back ups files are available.
Why would this have happened and is there anything we can do to reverse it.
    Thanks

    Do this:
First, in Address Book on your Mac, add a last name to every contact that currently does not have one. Next, with iTunes closed, launch iSync from your applications folder. Under preferences, select "Reset Sync History". Give it a minute to run, when finished re-boot your computer. Launch iTunes, connect your phone, do not sync at this point, on the "Info Tab", scroll down to "Advanced". Put a check in the "Contacts" box. Hit the apply/sync button. See if doing this fixes things.

  • IPhone battery issue - exchange calendar sync the primary suspect

I previously posted about very poor battery life and how a full re-install and reset seemed to fix the issue. The battery life was great for a week or so then I tried to go from my calendar on .me to my calendar on exchange. Then the issues re-appeared.
I am 99.9% sure that calendar sync via exchange is the issue. I am not sure if it's a funky server setting that my company has or what. It seems to work fine for others in the company however my e-mail account at work is relatively old compared to theirs. I am also on a Mac using Entourage. I made sure push was turned off and only fetch every hour. Still the same issue.
Again there is no battery drain when synching via iCal/.me. This kind of defeats the purpose of push calendar for me because I need to synch Entourage with iCal then iCal with .me. This means I need to be on my company network to sync. So the only time my calendar syncs is when I have my laptop on the company network.
The reason I'm writing is in hopes that someone from apple reads this and posts a fix. The CPU gets noticeably hot when exchange calendar sync is on so I know something is up. If you have any more info on this please let me know. I am also going to try the apple store tomorrow. Maybe it's a defective phone BUT since it works for everything except Exchange cal sync I am thinking it is some server/client polling issue.

I KNOW THIS IS lONG, BUT PLEASE TAKE THE TIME TO READ IT.
OK - After about 5 hours of troubleshooting I have FIGURED out why my battery was lasting only 3.5 hours. I hope this helps.
    1. completely wiped the phone away and brought it back with push disabled. EVERYTHING FINE
    2. I enabled push waited 1 hour. EVERYTHING FINE
    3. I enabled mail push syncing. EVERYTHING FINE
    4. I enabled contacts push syncing. EVERYTHING FINE
    5. I enabled calendar and BAM battery starting spinning in overdrive. The calendar was the issue.
    6. I disabled push and to my surprise it did not get better, only after a reboot did the batter return to normal. OK - so I have narrowed it down to the calendar.
    7. I am using Outlook 2007 with Exchange 2003.
    8. I took a bold step and archived my entire calendar to a pst file so it left nothing in the calendar.
    9. Again to my surprise the battery started draining immediately when i enabled the calendar again. On a hunch I checked the properties of the calendar and it said there was a few kb left. I could not do anything to find these.
    10. I logged into Outlook web access (http://exchangeservername/exchange - if enabled) and did a search on the calendar and it found two orphan calendar entires. I deleted them.
    11. I enabled calendar syncing again and it went perfect. I then copied back all of my calendar entires from the archive pst to the calendar and luckily no problem.
The push service must have not known how to process these two entires and was just chocking on it. For the last two weeks I have been getting 12-14 hours from a charge with 3-5 hours of use. Farb better then the 3.5 hours with no usage. I hope this helps!!

  • My iPhone contacts won't sync to exchange

    Hi guys,
I am trying to sync my iPhone contacts to Google contacts through exchange so that I can unify my contacts.
    I followed these directions:
    http://support.google.com/a/users/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=138740
But I don't see my contacts in Google contacts.
Any help would be appreciated.  Thanks!

I had a situation where some contacts on my iPhone either did not appear on my Mac or had only some of the information. I discovered that these contacts were linked on the iPhone to accounts other than iCloud - in my case the Exchange contacts at work. Once the missing information was copied to the iCloud linked contact, the details appeared on my Mac. To have a look, open the contact on your iPhone and scroll to the very bottom. There you will see all the Linked Contacts. Make sure one of these is iCloud and that it contains all the information you want to show on your Mac.

  • Transfering exchange contacts to my iphone contact list?

I have an exchange account I need to delete off my phone, but I want to save some of the contacts to my iphone contact list before I delete the exchange account, is this possible?  Any help will be greatly appreciated.  Thank you in advance.

The ideal method would be to export them as VCF files using a computer.
If you only have access to the Server on your iPhone, you can individually open each one and Share it to yourself by text or email.

Make sure to have a backup of each device, then use the backup to restore the phone after you have set it up as new device, explained in this article:

  • Lost all My contacts using Exchange with Iphone

I no longer use exchange but I do still need all 2000 of my contacts. Well I kept getting a message to sync my phone. I didn't want to. I just wanted the message to go away so I deleted the email account, but the message did not go away. I heard if you do a backup it saves your contacts. So I backed it up and did a restore to see if that would kill the sync message. Well when I did and tried to restore from backup all of my contacts were gone. I am absolutley devastated. Is there anyway to get them back? Are the contacts stored somewhere else. Could I get them back setting up exchange on my phone again. Could they be resynced then or are they just gone?

You may be able to do an over-the-air sync by adding your Exchange account to get all your contacts back.
Most likely the reason that none of your contacts were saved in the backup is because the iPhone contacts was connected with your exchange server, and cannot sync with iTunes when this is happening. To check this, leave the Exchange account enabled, connected your iPhone to your computer and in iTunes go to the info tab and see if you are able to select sync contacts. You you may need to get those contacts off of your computer that is connected to the Exchange server, and bring them over to home computer with a flash drive.
    Good luck ✰

  • Microsoft Exchange Contacts to iPhone contacts

I had my iPhone set up to sync with a Microsoft Exchange server, at work, as my default account for dates and contacts. I have left that company and want to know if the contacts that show up under the Microsoft Exchange account can be transferred to the basic iPhone contacts directory? I am afraid if I turn off Microsoft Exchange contacts off as my default account I will lose all of my contacts.

Yes, if you turn off Exchange the contacts will disappear. Apparently, an app called iDrive Lite will allow you to export those contacts from the phone:

  • Google added as Exchange Account (mail, contacts, cal), issues with contact #'s resolving to Names.

Google added as exchange account (mail, contacts, calendar), all works except contact correlation. Meaning somebody calls me, it's in the contact list but does not show name just the #. Same for outbound calls..search contacts, tap #, phone shows I'm dialing # versus contact name. This is completely goofy. I had a previous emplorers Exchange account working perfectly before I had to delete it. I removed all email accounts from iPhone and started fresh with adding Google as Exchange 'type' account.

Ok I fixed this problem. Within Google under contacts I had imported 1,200+ contacts and they all showed up there, on my iPad and iPhone. But on the phone name and # would not correlate. I discovered that by editing a contact (within Google contacts page) it would mark it as 'My Contacts' in addition to being Imported on xx/xx/xx. Once I did this, magically my iphone call log would display the name of the contact I edited/reclassified as 'My Contacts'. So I reclassified all the contacts as 'My Contacts' and now have full functionality. End of **** story and hope this helps somebody else.

  • Transfer iphone contacts to exchange

How do you transfer iphone (iphone 4 ios 6.0.1) contacts to exchange? I already have my default account set to the exchange account. Need help

Thanks. I read the KB article, and I understand how to sync various data types with iTunes. But am just very wary of making any changes on this person's phone until I know they won't lose any data.
Basically, I'd like to be able to transfer the iPhone Contacts in the users Exchange Contacts and set the default iPhone setting for Contacts to Exchange Contacts
    - or, change the contacts on the device to Exchange Contacts, but not lose the exiting iPhone ones, and integrate them into the Exchange ones.
Does anyone know the simplest way of doing this?

  • Two Iphone Contact/calendar Merged together issue

Me and my wife are using the same Apple ID, we both updated our phone today, she used her laptop and I used my Imac, the issue is both our calendar/contacts merged together, I now have all her Calendar event and contact
I started cleaning my contacts (her friends contact) on my phone and it affected her phone as well. When I delele a contact, it deletes the same contact on her phone
how can I change this ?

Same here. Not sure about fixing the contact issue but you can deselect which calendars are pulled in.
This contact thing is a problem.  Any solutions out there?

  • Outlook damaged/merged iphone contacts

Hi there, i've an issue my Outlook 2007 merged some of my contacts with no giustifications.
Fortunally i restored an old backup on the iphone and now in the tab "iphone contacts" its everything ok but in the tab "icloud contacts" there are some merged contacts.
Now outlook has the contacts damaged... what can i do?
Should i erase all contacts in icloud.com and in outlook and resync contacts from iphone?
    Thanks
    Enrico

Oops - missed that you're syncing with an Exchange server.
Try turning off syncing of contacts (Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars > work account, toggle Contacts OFF, wait a bit, then toggle it back ON. Alternatively, delete the Exchange account and then re-add it. You will get a prompt about what to do with the data currently on the phone (delete, keep, and perhaps merge - I don't recall). If there was a merge option, is that what you chose?
If that doesn't help, it may be that the behavior you're seeing is normal - contacts currently on the phone (pre-Exchange) may need to be kept (somewhat) separate from the Exchange contact list for security reasons, depending on policies set on the server side.

    Hey joshuafromisr,
If you resintall iTunes, it should fix the issue. The following document will go over how to remove iTunes fully and then reinstall. Depending on what version of Windows you're running you'll either follow the directions here:
Removing and Reinstalling iTunes, QuickTime, and other software components for Windows XP
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1925
    or here:

  • ITunes 9.1 no longer synching iPhone Contacts to Mac Address Book

Since installing iTunes 9.1 (79) today. my iPhone will no longer synch to the Mac Address Book. iPhone software 3.1.3, Mac OS 10.6.3 MacBook Pro 3.1. The only thing I can think of is that my iTunes library is on an external drive (not with me). Everything else seems to be working OK. I tried resetting the iPhone (but did not erase content) to no avail.
Any ideas why this is happening and what to do?

Can anyone help with this? This has been an issue for me for weeks. Changes to contacts on my iPhone (the original one) don't show up in Address Book and changes in Address Book on my iMac don't sync with my iPhone contacts. Both seemed to be separate from each other. Prior to this, it has done so flawlessly since I have owed it.
I just tried the following, from this thread (http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=476130):
*1. open address book, go to File > Export > Address Book Archive, save to desktop*
*2. delete all contact info (including groups) from address book, quit address book*
*3. select "sync address book contacts" (all contacts) in itunes info tab (highlight your iphone on the left of the window)*
*4. under "advanced" at the bottom, select contacts under "replace information on this iphone / ipod".*
    *5. sync.*
    *6. uncheck #'s 3 & 4 above*
*7. back in address book, import your address book archive file to restore your address book.*
*that should do it- sorry if this was unclear, need to hit the hay.*
My Address Book imported back in fine. Now my iPhone contacts are empty and won't sync back with what is on the computer. When I click on my iPhone in iTunes and go to Info to click "Sync Address Book Contacts," there is nothing in the box. Prior to attempting the above fix, the iPhone's contacts showed up in that box, but not the most recent version of Address Book on my computer.
I have not lost my Address Book contacts, they are backed up, but I just want to be able to sync it all with my iPhone again. My iPhone contacts are currently empty and I could use them for work today.
Any ideas would be much appreciated -- thanks!
