"exchange upgrade" now i have 67% packet loss 24...

Following my local exchanges "upgrade" on the 26th of January, my internet is a complete waste of time, my IP profile has been cut in half, and i have had 60-67% packet loss no matter what time of day.
Exchange is Hertford.
Loading even Google takes 3 or 4 refreshes.
"Customer service" in India seem to think the problem can be resolved if I renew my contract. Yeah right!!
So if this is a "care" forum, where is the care for me?

Having finally established that my packet loss was occuring from a BT server and despite over ten hours of calls to "customer help" in India, being repeatedly lied to, fobbed off, and read a script.
I finally got through to a very surprised somebody at BT wholesale who took the issue seriously, having spent over 13 days trying to get action, it got resolved in a day!
My packet loss ceased, however the reset to half IP profile remained, as did my throttled service, to the point I may as well have been on dial up, well I had, had enough!
I requested a MAC code and despite it taking 17 days to get it, not the 5 days as required by Ofcom, I am now free of BT.
My IP profile is reset to where it should be, my service is no longer throttled, and I am now paying only £5.99 a month with plusnet, for the service BT should have been giving me, my line rental is cheaper too.
BT have been a waste of space throughout this whole episode, with the exception of one guy at BT wholesale who was shocked I had managed to get hold of his number, and to give him credit intervened on my behalf when he didn't have too.
BT customer service in India is an absolute disgrace, they work from scripts, lie, obfuscate, prevaricate, are not knowledgeable on any subject, other than contract renewal.
I would rather die a slow and painful death than ever go back.
If you need to check your own line....you can ping it yourself to check for packet loss.
Ping, "pingtest.bt.net" and then traceroute each hop to see where your problem is occuring.
Doing a  "whois" on the "bad" hop's IP should give you a "real" world phone number for someone at BT wholesale to plead with.

  • HP Assistant upgrade/BIOS upgrade--now I have no sound

I have the HP dv4-4032nr.  After installing the HP Assistant weekly upgrade, and a BIOS upgrade, I have no sound.

    Hi,
    Try the following.
Download the IDT Audio installer on the link below and save it to your Downloads folder.
    http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp55001-55500/sp55045.exe
When done, open windows Control Panel, open Device Manager and open up Sound, Video and Game Controllers.  Right click the IDT device and select Uninstall - you should also get a prompt to remove the current driver, tick the box to allow this and then proceed with the uninstall.
When complete, restart the notebook and let Windows fully load.  Open your Downloads folder, right click on the IDT installer and select 'Run as Administrator' to start the installation.  When this has completed, right click the speaker icon in the Taskbar and select Playback Devices.  Left click 'Speakers and Headphones' once to highlight it and then click the Set Default button - check if you now have audio.
If you still have no audio, open windows Control Panel, open Administrative Tools and open Services.  Check that the following services are all showing as Status= Started and Start-up Type= Automatic
    Audio Service
    Multimedia Class Scheduler
    Windows Audio
    Windows Audio Endpoint Builder
If you need to make a change to any of the above, just right click the service and select Properties, then in the dropdown box next to 'Start-up type',  select Automatic and click Apply to save the change.  Then click the Start button.

  • Just bought HD upgrade, now I have to buy 3.5 update?!

    Someone please clearify!
I just bought the upgrade from Express 2.0 to HD. Does this upgrade include the update from 3.0.1 to 3.5? Do I have to purchase this update or is it free?
    Trevor
    MA200LL 20" Imac Core Duo   Mac OS X (10.4.9)

FCE-HD v3.0 and FCE-HD v3.5 were separate product releases of Final Cut Express. As such, the Upgrade between them has a price.
Updates are different. They can be downloaded free from the Apple website. But they only update software within a release level (for example, from 3.0 to 3.0.1 or from 3.5 to 3.5.1 ... but NOT from 3.0.1 to 3.5).
There is an FCE-HD v3.5 Upgrade package available from Apple and it allows you to Upgrade from any previous version including FCE-2. There was no need to buy the v3.0 Upgrade as an intermediate step between FCE-2 and FCE-HD 3.5.
I'd suggest returning the v3.0 upgrade you just bought, if possible, and purchase the v3.5 Upgrade instead. If you can't return it and you really want v3.5 then you're stuck having to buy the v3.5 Upgrade in addition.

  • Java was upgraded, now I have problems

Recently I upgraded java from 1.3.1 to 1.4.2. Now I cannot access the citrix server which allows me to work from home. I am a physician for Kaiser Permanente, and my IT department there said the newer version of java which I upgraded to is not compatible with the programs which allow me to work from home. I was told I just need to "unistall" my newer version of java. I haven't figured out how to do this. Help! (thanks!)

  • Wrt310n packet loss and dhcp failure?

I purchased a wrt310n to replace a netgear POS (which was a temp after my wrt54g died) and I'm having issues. The netgear is slow and temporarily freezes every once in a while. I put the wrt310n in and it worked flawlessly... for about a week. Now I'm getting packet loss between 10% and 20%. Also, after leaving the router running for a couple days (upside down, because it seemed to be freezing when it got hot) it would work for 5-10 minutes and then freeze. Power cycle the thing and... repeat.
I'm only using WEP, the machines have 802.11g cards, I've changed the network to 10.4.2.x (only the private side) and left almost everything else stock. The other things that have been changed are the admin password and logging has been enabled. My ISP is comcast cable. Suggestions? More info required? Anyone know how long 'til DD-WRT will work on these things?
ps-just so my skillset is known, i'm a sysadmin for a very large tech company and have been doing this type of role for over 8 years... that puts me slightly above the average home user... i think...

Nothing yet. I've switched back to my Netgear, for the time being. I'm hoping Linksys actually reads these forums and has a firmware update coming out soon. The Netgear works great until you hit something with a lot of jpgs (like myspace) and then it chokes for a couple minutes. I can deal with that until the first firmware update shows. Hopefully it's soon, since I hate having to box things up and send them back. I've read a few other posts about people having problems and they suggest doing a factory reset. I always change my network over to a 10.x.x.x subnet because I like to avoid common RFC1918 address spaces (geek/hacker issues). Perhaps it doesn't like dealing with class A address space...

  • 5508 snmp packet loss

We had a system outage due to power problems a few days ago, and now our WLC is showing short term packet loss when monitoring it using SNMP.  We also monitor it using ICMP, but that shows no packet loss.  I looked at the interface statistics on the WLC and all of the switches in between and there are no errors to be seen.  is there any way to troubleshoot this problem on the WLC?  I am more familiar with IOS than the WLC CLI.
    Thanks,
    Dan.

No, no wireless issues that we know of.  I wouldn't rule it out so fast, as our monitoring system is working fine.  All of the other devices it is monitoring have no packet loss.  Yes it could be something with the network, but why is it only this one device doing this....
Other then enabling and disabling the snmp option, and checking the interface the only other thing I know of trying is restarting it.
    Dan.

  • Wrong direction of Packet loss

Recently,I capture some RTP packets when user meeting the dialogue jitter and latency.
User A using the 3951 ip phone (IP address is x.x.125.206, and x.x.200.165 is the voice gateway's ip address ) , and user B using a mobile phone.
User A responds to me that she can't hear user B clearly.
This reflect to packets capture result should be packet lost at the in direction.
But the capture result show that packets loss happen at the out direction.
Could any body explain it for me?
    Thanks a lot!

Probably you have captured RTP traffic near the voice gateway. Right?
I suppose that you have bidirectional packet loss.
In this case, if you use wireshark near one of the sources you can observe only one direction loss.
You must try to use wireshark in both network segments.
P.S. in the bottom of the your image we can see ip addresses of your net.

  • Packet loss

    Hi,
Going to keep it short and sweet, many of you know about the FIFA/BT/EA problem and the terrible connection online. Here is my latest traceroute to EA, don't know much about this kind of stuff, so are these results normal or is there something distinctly wrong?
    Thanks.

Ignore the 100% packet loss - it's a red herring. Those hops will be configured to not respond to traceroute type traffic.  If you really did have 100% packet loss, then you'd also get no response from subsequent hops which isn't the case.
Your "issues" appear to be twofold:
A significant increase in latency on the transatlantic hop within level3's network.
Packet loss at EA - possibly (but not necessarily) due to congestion on their network.
    HTH.

  • Extremely slow internet and 20-50% packet loss

This has been happening for at least a week. I've been trying to play online games such as dota 2 where I have up to 50% packet loss at times. I also try to watch streams however it is usually constantly buffering every 5 seconds on any quality over 240p. I have tried restarting both my modem and router. I've also done a ping test to google which came back with:Pinging google.com [216.58.216.110] with 32 bytes o

I am sorry to hear about the trouble you are having with this. Has this happened recently? I was able to check the connection history and it does seem to be much better for the past week. If the issue comes back let me know, we might need to have a tech check this. -FC

  • How do I fix 100% packet loss?

I have an 8mb connect but i roughly get like 4-5mb. I think i have the homehub version 1 or 1.5.
When i search for servers on Counter Strike Source and team fortress the whole interenet just resets and no servers found. I posted on the steam forums and they said it wass to do with packet loss.
I tried to test for packet loss on http://freeola.com/line-test/ and it says i have 100% packet loss then i tried on http://pingtest.net/ and it was unable to test for packet loss.

    Hi. Welcome to the forums.
I tried both, and the freeola one failed with 100% packet loss, but the pingtest site returned 0% packet loss.
I expect the former is being blocked by firewall/router as expected.
Seems like they aren't quite doing the same thing.

  • Increased Packet Loss...

I've had a number of complaints from the kids in May about games have frequent issues, and I've experienced some odd issues off and on as well.  When I got the May report from SamKnows, I noticed that packet loss since early May has been unacceptably high with more than 10 days during the month of packet loss in excess of 2.5% (as high as 6.5%), and the first few days in June are looking just as bad (all above 2.5%).  This would definitely be the root cause of the kids problems with the games as well as the issues I've observed.  Generally, 2.5% to 5% is considered poor network performance and 5% to 12% is very poor network performance, so this is not really acceptable.
I verified with older SamKnows reports that prior months didn't have these issues (maybe once or twice a month, but most months didn't have notable packet loss days at all).
Anybody have any ideas as to what is going on?  Does Verizon Tech Support look at this boards and investigate issues like this, or do I need to call them?

I will try digging deeper, but for it to suddenly get worse like that at such a consistent level at this point is almost certainly not the internet in general.

  • Wifi packet loss after upgrading to 10.7.4

After upgrading all three macs (mb pro, mb air, imac) in the house to 10.7.4 they all experience wifi packet loss.  I ping to the local router.  I have connected to a multitude of wireless routers with similar result.
But here is strong evidence that is a the OS X software problem.  I am running linux inside of vmware fusion.  I have run the exact same ping commands simultaneously in (1) mac and (2) vmware linux.  The linux ping experiences zero packet loss, not even a single packet.  The mac at its best will lose 1% packets, but can increase beyond that.
We are suffering from slow internet in our corrent location as it is, and this has a noticable impact on our performance.  I am a bit afraid to upgrade to Mountain Lion for fear it may be even worse.
    Any thoughts?

    Your

  • Upgraded to Exchange 2010 now outlook 2013 can't connect externally

Outlook 2013 used to connect to my exchange server via our TMG before upgrading to 2010. At first the clients were changed back to NTLM all the time but I fixed that and we now see basic with SSL. Now we get repeated logon.
I have used rpc connectivity analyser and it tells me that my (self issued) certificate doesn't chain properly - but the signing certificate is loaded on the client (by Enterprise CA policy) and looking at the mail server certificate in the certificate manger
reports the certificate to be good and correctly shows the chain (so is this a problem in the anyalyzer or does outlook constrcut its certificate chain using a different code library than say IE?).
Oddly Windows 8.1's mail cient works flawlessly when outlook 2013 goes into loops?
    Any suggestions?

    Hi ICHC,
Just as Ed said, we should create new rule on TMG during the upgrading.

    Hi jcm2656,
iMovie ’09 does not support the Sony HDr-PJ230 camcorder. See this article for a list of cameras supported for that version of iMovie -

iMovie ’11 however, does support it. See this article -

Note that iMovie does not support footage recorded in 1080-60p from this Camcorder.
