Exchange web access oddities

Decided to make a separate thread for exchange web access since I have given up on regular exchange access until we can install certificates on the iPhone ( see http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1022088&tstart=0 )
Anyway, I can't directly access https://mail.companyname.com/exchange on the iPhone even though I can access it on my computer from home. But, I can access https://mail.companyname.com/oma after the phone has been turned off and back on. I say this because if I turn the phone on and access https://mail.companyname.com/oma and authenticate and then try to hit https://mail.companyname.com/exchange and it doesn't authenticate, I can no longer hit https://mail.companyname.com/oma without turning the phone off and back on (it just sits there trying without bringing the page up).
But, the first time I accessed https://mail.companyname.com/oma after I found out about it on Friday, I did go to https://mail.companyname.com/exchange afterwards and it actually brought it up and everything worked fine. I thought I was in the clear. But, later than night, I tried hitting https://mail.companyname.com/exchange again but it just hung like it used to. I turned the phone off and on and tried hitting https://mail.companyname.com/exchange but no luck. I turned the phone off and on again and hit https://mail.companyname.com/oma just fine but couldn't go to https://mail.companyname.com/exchange afterwards like I had done before.
What's going on? (hope you can follow what I was trying to day)

I'm afraid I've given up trying to do so now, and for precisely the reason you mention. It worked for a bit, just setting up normally with an exchange account in Versamail. But then it would regularly encounter errors, especially with regard to adding or modifying calendar events on the device. They were never successfully transferred to the server.
So, that killed it for me. I believe it may be something to do with certificates. But it may just be a bug. Either way, I can't be bothered with the expense in time and money of trying to sort it out.
I'm running a Windoze Mobile device, which needless to say syncs ok with M$ Exchange. I hope to get an Android device before too long, and am hoping for the best there ....
Good luck. Do post any success here.

I'd like to sync my Palm TX to the Microsoft Exchange Server Web Access so I can keep my schedule up to date with the office. I've read thru many posts, but I'm still not clear how to do this. I've used the Palm for a few years, but never had a need to do this until now. Now I'm trying to stay organized with too many calendars and it's having quite the opposite result. Any help is greatly appreciated!

  • A problem with Win 7 Pro, Outlook Web Access based on Exchange Server 2003, and two different domains

    Dear Microsoft Support,
    As mentioned in the title,
I have two domains. One is Domain A at HQ. The other one is Domain A at branch office. A laptop having Win 7 Pro OS is a client of Domain A. The Domain A has Exchange Server 2003. Users of Domain B get connected to Exchange Server for email services. In
all clients of the Domain B, IP address of the email server added in C:\Windows\System 32\drivers\etc\host file.
Whereas in the clients of Domain A it was not done, because all the servers including the email server belong to the Domain A.
Now, a user with Domain A's client (it is a laptop) came to Branch office and wanted to access the Outlook (using Outlook Web Access). since there is no IP address added in the Host file of the laptop, connectivity to email is not possible. When I try to
add the IP address, I was not able to do so due to Domain A's security reasons.
So, let me know, is there a way out to add the IP address in the host file of the Domain A's client.
    Thanks in advance.
    Ravi Sekhar Modukuru

I would suggest adding the mailserver address in Domain B's DNS. Would that be possible?
I agree. The correct solution in this case (since it appears you already have a two-way Domain Trust in place) is to properly configure DNS in Domain 'B' to be a secondary of Domain 'A' and completely eliminate the need to maintain the HOSTS file.

  • Exchange Web Services are not currently available for this request because none of the Client Access Servers in the destination site could process the request.

    Hi,
I am using EWS Java APIs and passing OAuth tokens to fetch data from office 365 mailboxes.
Because I am developing Web APIs I preferred using "Application Permissions" defined in Azure active directory application for Office 365, and used "client credential flow" OAuth flow to fetch OAuth token specific to application which will
allow "Have full access via EWS to all mailboxes in the organisation".
After fetching token with the procedure specified in the document "http://blogs.msdn.com/b/exchangedev/archive/2015/01/21/building-demon-or-service-apps-with-office-365-mail-calendar-and-contacts-apis-oauth2-client-credential-flow.aspx"
I passed this token to EWS Java APIs,
    it gave me error saying:
microsoft.exchange.webservices.data.ServiceResponseException: Exchange Web Services are not currently available for this request because none of the Client Access Servers in the destination site could process the request.
I tried similar thing with EWS managed APIs for .net. Got similar error.
Can anyone provide some help and direction to resolve this error.
    Thanks & Best Regards,
    Pranjal

  • Cannot contact Exchange Server or open Outlook Web Access in Safari

I am a small business user operating in an Exchange environment and have been having some connectivity problems:
    1. Mail: I have been able to connect to and download emails from my Exchange server in Mail (both public and private folders) but have not been able to send mails through the same account. The server address is the same address as we use for Outlook Web Access (OWA). We do not use POP or SMTP, nor do we have separate addresses on the Exchange/OWA account.
    2. Safari: For some reason, it is not possible for me to open OWA; Safari just "hangs" indefinitely and does not prompt for password or username. The window just remains blank. My OWA works perfectly with Windows-based machines.
    3. Address: it is not possible to contact the Exchange server from Address Book to synchronize contacts. I keep getting an error that "iSync couldn't connect to Exchange". As I have just purchsed an iPhone, it is critical to make this work, otherwise I have no contacts on the iPhone.
In all cases, my Exchange/OWA server address is *https://mail.servername.com/exchange/username* for both outgoing and incoming mails. I have checked that the password and username are correct.
Can somebody help me here? Is there a server or client side adjustment that needs to be made? Are there any special certificates that are required? Making this work is really important...
Thanks in advance for your help!

I have the exact same problem as you have detailed in your #2 comment. OWA just hangs and will not proceed to the sign in screen. Any luck getting support on this?

  • Portal and Non-Exchange Outlook Web-access integration

    Hi, Expert,
the question concerns  SAP EP  integration with Outlook Web Access (OWA).
The problem is that OWA is not based on MS Exchange Server, but on CommuniGate Pro.
So I need any help, here are my question:
    1. Did anyone integrate this 2 systems?
    2. What is the point where I have to begin from?
    3. Do I need any connectors for this activity?
For the completness of my problem: what do i really need is to use calendar (an other Outlook-like things) in my portal.
    Thanks in advance!

You could try this if you have Outlook Web Access already working, put the following into a html portlet and just replace the url with your outlook web access url.
Our admin guys have enabled automatic login to outlook if using internet explorer

  • MS Exchange portlet with Outlook Web Access

While testing the MS Exchange 5.5 portlets, I've run into a problem where it does not create a MAPI session if you are not trying to access a local exchange server. In other words, how do I modify the asp code so the portlet will work if you are accessing Outlook Web Access?
If Outlook Web Access is on a different domain than the asp's in the MSEXCHANGE55.zip portlet package, what else needs to be modified?

The problem is a bit different than the post you referenced.
Although exchange and owa existing on the server with the Exchange asp's from Oracle, the problem of authentication still exists (the asp code needs to be modified in order to fix it).
    For example --
The domain of Oracle portal and the windows 2000 server that's the web provider for the portlet is somehost.oracle.com.
The email server that has OWA installed (the one that has the email we want to view) is on someotherhost.ibm.com.
When try to test the inbox.asp by trying
    https://somehost.oracle.com/exchange_portlet/inbox.asp?owapath=https://someotherhost.ibm.com/exchange
the session with the exchange server via OWA is not accomplished.
What needs to be changed in the code so the asp's can reside on a server that's not in the same domain as the OWA server?

  • Entourage 2008 Exchange to Outlook Web Access

Okay, bear with me: I'm an end-user and not especially technically inclined.
That said, for years I've used Entourage 2008 as my email client (on a MacBook Pro, OSX 10.9), and it successfully works with the web-based Outlook account that my ISP provides, through a POP connection.
Now, I'd like to sync my Entourage calendar with one in Outlook.
Importing the Entourage calendar into Outlook was easy. But when I build an Exchange account in Entourage, I seem to have fallen on my face.
It still imports mail, but can't send mail
It doesn't sync the Outlook calendar (on the web) to Entourage's
I have upgraded Entourage to the EWS version of 12.3.6.
After configuring the Web Services Edition (as best I could), I still can't send email — or sync Entourage to the online Outlook calendar.
Here's the error message: "Unexpected data was encountered" Error: -17997
I'm using the same settings I see in my Nokia N8 mobile's Exchange mailbox settings (which works perfectly with Outlook including syncing its calendar with OWA's calendar).
What puzzles me is that an Exchange account on Entourage and my MacBook won't work using the same settings as Exchange ActiveSync on my Nokia N8, which syncs flawlessly with OWA. Any and all suggestions gratefully received.

An additional point of information.  You've posted to an Exchange 2013 forum.  Is your Exchange organization running Exchange 2013?  If not, the Exchange previous versions forums are here:
    http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/category/exchangeserverlegacy.
You should share the Exchange version, service pack and update level you're running.
If you believe that it's an Exchange configuration problem as opposed to Entourage, then the issue would likely be in the configuration of Exchange Web Services, particularly the EWS virtual directory.

  • BlackBerry Internet Service with Microsoft Outlook Web Access account

I need to switch my 8820 to a new work account.  They use Outlook Exchange 2003, but do not support BES.  I have access via both regular desktop Outlook and also Outlook Web Access (from a different server).   I read the procedure to use BIS in KnowledgeBase KB03133.  After entering my email address and password, I get a message that it was successfully set up.  But, I get no e-mail messages delivered.  When I check  the settings, it looks like it is not using the correct server for Web Access.  However, I can find no way to manually enter it - I don't get the error message described in Step 5 where I can pick "I will provide the settings."  I try to set up via computer but I get a message that my BIS cannot be accessed via HTML and need to set up on my BB.
Any suggestions?  Would it work with a newer phone running a newer OS?  Do I need to check with AT&T if it supports Outlook Web Access?  Thanks in advance.

Hi and Welcome to the Forums!
Lot's of possible variables...here a several other KBs to try:
KB03133How to integrate a Microsoft Outlook Web Access email address with a BlackBerry Internet Service account
KB18567BlackBerry Internet Service cannot connect to a Microsoft Outlook Web Access account using Microsoft Exchange 2007 or Microsoft Exchange 2010
KB15173Locate the mailbox name for a Microsoft Outlook Web Access 2007 email account
KB04804Error message appears when attempting to integrate a Microsoft Outlook Web Access 2010 account
KB02858Unable to integrate a Microsoft Outlook Web Access email address with a BlackBerry Internet Service account
The trick to getting to the manual settings screen is to provide your valid email address, but an incorrect password...then, it will allow you to manually enter the settings.
    Good luck!

  • Company Webmail Outlook Web Access

When I'm on a biz trip I have to use Web Access for my webmail. I noticed that when I use Safari vs. when I use my PC lap top, the whole look is very different. PC allows me to have a preview page and on my ibook it constantly asks for my password. And I can't use several features that are offerend through my PC laptop. I tried using Mac version of Explorer, but it doesn't even open up the webmail. What can I do? Do I need to start carrying my PC laptop on biz trips?

MS uses ActiveX controls in the Windows version of OWA that simply do not exist in the Mac version. We have both flavors of client at the school where I'm the Tech coordinator, and Exchange 2003's Mac OWA client is substantially better than before, but nowhere near as good as the Windows version. Such is life with MS - Windows will always get preferential treatment.
However, the bigger issue is that Exchange 2003 OWA seems to be having serious loading issues in Safari 2.0. Ever since I upgraded my school's machines to 10.4.2, OWA has been all but inaccessible using Safari. The left pane loads, but the right pane, where the messages appear, takes ages to load if it ever loads at all. No problems under IE or Firefox. Is there an Apple rep out there to address this to? My faculty and staff are very irritated, and I'd rather not switch away from Safari and confuse them even more if I don't have to.

  • Force Day View of Calendar Published from Outlook Web Access

Is there a way to force the view of the Outlook calendar published through Outlook Web Access 2013 so that it displays the day or week view without the user having to click on an icon to change the view?  I want to display a day view calendar (or week
view) by default.  I can successfully publish the calendar but a user has to click the icons to change the view.  I want to display the calendar in an iframe on a digital sign and the user won't have a way to click or touch the icon.  Are there
parameters that can be passed in the url?

    Hello Brian,
I'd suggest asking OWA specific questions on the
Exchange Server for Developers forum instead. Also you may find the
Exchange Server 2010 Outlook Web App Customization SDK helpful.
As for Microsoft Office Outlook you can use the
CurrentView property of the Explorer or Folder classes which returns a View object
representing the current view. To obtain a View object for the view of the current Explorer,
    use Explorer.CurrentView instead
of the CurrentView property of the currentFolder object
    returned by Explorer.CurrentFolder.
The View object allows you to create customizable views that allow you to better sort, group and ultimately view data of all different types. There are a variety of different view types that provide
the flexibility needed to create and maintain your important data.
The table view type (olTableView) allows you to view data in a simple field-based table.
The Calendar view type (olCalendarView) allows you to view data in a calendar format.
The card view type (olCardView) allows you to view data in a series of cards. Each card displays the information contained by the item and can be sorted.
The icon view type (olIconView) allows you to view data as icons, similar to a Windows folder or explorer.
The timeline view type (olTimelineView) allows you to view data as it is received in a customizable linear time line.
Views are defined and customized using the View object's XML property.
The XML property allows you to create and set a customized XML schema that defines the various features of a view.

  • Questions regarding Outlook Web App, Remote Desktop, Remote Web Access and VPN Access

    Hi there,
I want to ask a series of questions regarding Outlook Web App, Remote Desktop, Remote Web Access and VPN access and was hoping whether you could help me. Below are my questions to ask you.
Outlook Web App - What do I need to configure in order to get my Exchange account to work with the OWA app on my iPhone? Is Office 360 required on the server that hosts Outlook Web App in our organisation? When I configure the settings and
connect I get the following message "couldn't connect -  We couldn't connect to the server. Check your information and make sure it's correct." I can connect with other devices using Outlook Web App.
Remote Desktop - What do I need to configure in order to connect to my computer at work using Remote Desktop on my Windows Phone? When I configure the settings and connect I get the following message "Connection error - We couldn't connect
to the remote PC. Make sure the PC is turned on and connected to the network, and that remote access is enabled. Inquiring minds may find this error code helpful: 0x204" I can connect with other devices using Remote Desktop. There are currently no
RD Server settings in the Remote Desktop app on the Windows Phone and the only way I'm to connect to my PC at work is via Remote Desktop and not to be confused with the one by Microsoft, however the app is on a trial basis and times out every 5 minutes and
can only be used once every hour unless I purchased the app for £2.99 off the App Store but would ideally like to use the Microsoft Remote Desktop app though.
Remote Web Access - What do I need to configure in order to get Remote Web Access on my Windows Phone using a URL? When I log in using a URL I get the following message "There is a problem with this Web page. Please contact the person who manages
the server" I can connect with other devices using Remote Web Access. Also how do you enable the background option for Remote Web Access? I know how to do this in Remote Desktop but not in Remote Web Access. Remote Web Access works on PCs regardless
being onsite and offsite and on my iPhone, the same issue also occurs with my Nokia 5230s regardless of whether I'm using Opera Mobile or Mini or the latest Nokia Browser.
VPN access - How do you configure VPN access on a Windows Phone using VPN? I cannot find the protocols PPTP, L2TP, SSTP and IPsec in order to configure VPN access on the Windows Phone apart from IKEv2.
    Many thanks,
    RocknRollTim

Any help would be much appreciated.
    Kind regards,
    RocknRollTim
