Exchanged my whiny Week 12 today. New Week 12 still whines.

I exchanged my whiny Week 12 MacBook Pro 1.83 today at the Apple Store. I explained the problem to the Apple Genius, who said that he was aware of the problem, and downplayed it by saying that his previous-generation PowerBook G4 does it too (or to be more accurate "sounds like a G5 tower" which I thought was odd, since that isn't my problem at all). Still, he was helpful and had no problem sending me home with a new unit, though he warned that this one might whine too.
Well, he was right. While in every other way flawless, it does whine (CPU whine from left side while running on battery power -- same as before), but at this point I'm done making demands. I'll use the "click on the picture in PhotoBooth" trick until Apple tells us something more definitive. I have work to get done.
The machine is great in every other way. I just hope Apple figures out what's causing this. Maybe we'll get lucky and it can be fixed via software update.

OS 10.4.7 update eliminated my week 13 MBP whine

I'm not sure why, but for my MBP the processor whine appears to have been eliminated by the update. I know that for others this isn't the case unfortunately. Previously the Photobooth hack worked but at least for now no hacks are required.
Now if only the temperature issue could be resolved via a software update. Does anyone know of a way to cause both the left and right fans to run at a low level to improve the computer's cooling??

My week 9 still whines and the new update broke the mirror widget fix.
I backed out to the old USB driver (from 10.4.5) and the mirror widget works fine again.

Suncrow, congratulations on your upgrade to a new Samsung Galaxy S5! We recommend that you use the new sim card that came with your device. Just power it off and insert the new card. Your device will automatically start the activation process and complete on it's own. Keep us posted.

BT Yahoo homepage 'Today' news module links not wo...

Hi,
All the links from the 'Today' news module on my BT Yahoo homepage give a '404 page not found error'. All worked fine until a couple of months ago. There are no problems with any other links either from other areas of the BT Yahoo homepage or anywhere else. Others have posted on Yahoo forums (Yahoo answers, Yahoo community) with a similar issue but I haven't found a solution.
The problem occurs using my PC (IE9/Vista). Using my laptop (IE9/Win7) on the same router (BT Homehub) all the links work fine. This would seem to indicate an issue with the PC setup. However looking in a bit more detail at the link URLs (using right click then 'properties') they all show as HTML documents with addresses of the type: http://home.bt.yahoo.com/new-york-fashion-week--zac-posen-fight-leads-to--1-million-lawsuit.html I'm not sure if this is actually a dead link or not.
On the laptop (Win7) the URLs look different - so the one above (under right click, 'properties') is listed as a system folder with the address: http://home.bt.yahoo.com/ _ylt=AhHAdLGuZCxQzRisacTmZxPGhXmV (won't copy all this but you get the idea). In the address bar this comes up as http://uk.lifestyle.yahoo.com/new-york-fashion-weekS--zac-posen-fight-leads-to--1-million-lawsuit.ht...
I don't know if Win7 and Vista handle the URLs differently but it seems the news article is present at the uk.lifestyle.yahoo.com/ address but not at the home.bt.yahoo.com/ address. I don't have another Vista machine to compare with so would be interested to know what the 'Today' links URLs look like on someone else's Vista machine.
Any help finding a solution would be much appreciated!

I too have difficulty viewing some videos via links on the BT Home Page. I use IE8.
The video starts to load and then freezes. In the status bar of IE8 I get a flashing web addres something like this:
waiting for http://static.ak.fbcnd.net/connect/xd_proxy_php
I did a search and the nearest answer I came up with was that the page is left open to continually update/stream therefore giving the latest version. All well and good if the page loads properly in the first place!
I am not asked to update Flash Player.
The fbcnd part of the address would also indicate that the trouble occurs when the link is somehow associated with Face Book.
This particular link about an unsuccessful long jump is an example:

Sounds like you need a new battery. Take the iPod Nano to an Apple store or an AASP. Whichever is more convenient for you.

Moving Exchange from old server to completely new server

Hello All,
I hope to get some good pointers here. I currently have Exchange server 2007 SP1 running today. The server is old and the warranty just expired. I have been given permission to buy a new server and migrate to it. I have the new server
up and running with Exchange 07 SP1 installed. I am looking for the best way to migrate and move users from one server, to the new one and decommission the old one. The storage is Are there any special steps I need to take? Do
I need to do any ADPrep to tell AD to use the new server? I've tried looking for a guide or a how-to but all I have found are vague and brief ways to install Exchange server, but not to migrate from one server to a new one. These are two separate
physical servers btw.
edit - I forgot to mention that the exchange store is on a SAN via iSCSI

Moving exchange in ten easy steps:
1.Bring up a new server as a new server in the same site. Use a different name for the new server. If you need to move Exchange to another server with the same name, follow the instructions in the Microsoft article “XADM: How to Move Exchange Server to a
New Computer with the Same Name” (http://support.microsoft.com/support/kb/articles/q155/2/16.asp).
2.To move user mailboxes to the new server, start Microsoft Exchange Administrator, click Tools, and select Move Mailbox. You can move all the mailboxes at once, one at a time, or several at a time. In many cases, you can move mailboxes during working hours
because each user is locked out of his or her mailbox only while that mailbox is being moved.
3.Create replicas of the public folders on the new server. When the contents of the folders have been replicated (do wait a little while!), remove the folders from the old server.
4.Create new connectors on the new servers. Change the costs of the old connectors you're replacing to be higher than the new ones, then recalculate routing.
5.Create mail exchanger (MX) records pointing to the new Internet Mail Service (IMS) as appropriate, and change the cost on the old MX record so that it’s higher than the costs on the new records. When you’ve verified that messages are flowing across the
new connectors, remove the old ones, then recalculate routing again.
6.Follow the steps in the Microsoft article “XADM: How to Remove the First Exchange Server in a Site” (http://support.microsoft.com/support/kb/articles/q152/9/59.asp) if the server
you're replacing is the first one in the site.
7.Leave the old server up for a while to give Messaging API (MAPI) clients time to connect to the new server automatically ( the old server provides referrals to the new one). It's true—you don't have to reconfigure MAPI clients!
8.Tell POP3 and IMAP4 users how to reconfigure their clients to point to the new server.
9.If you have a WINS or DNS alias for the old server, point it to the new server.
10.Stop the Exchange services on the old server, then use Exchange Administrator to delete the old server's server object, thus removing it from the site.

if you are subscribed to the Hardwell podcast... quickly open the Podcast app and delete the most recent Hardwell podcast from 3/22.
for some reason that's causing the crash. i've deleted and it works fine again.

apple has introduced a new version of ipad with in 6 months of ipad 3 so we the user of ipad 3 are bit slower now than the upcoming ipad-4...
so there must be an exchange offer for the ipad-3 to ipad 4

In the UK the iPad 3rd Gen was sold as 4G when it couldn't actually work with any planned 4G network. The 4th gen now has the ability to work with EE's network in the UK, so I'd expect an exchange programme in the UK because of the law which says that a product must work as advertised, and the fact it's 6 months on and Apple have correct the 4G issue shows they knew it was a problem.

New battery, but still problems

so i posted a topic about a week ago titled "CRAZY ICON-ness"... well, to remedy the battery-caution problem, i baught a new battery. i put it in my mini and then left it charging on with a wall charger while i went out of town.
i just got back today and it's still doing the same thing: it has the battery-caution icon for about five seconds, then goes blank for a split second, then repeats this.
does anyone know what the problem is?
