Exchanging IPad for different model

I recently received a new iPad 4 as a promotion for attending a work related class. this iPad is brand new still unopened in the box. The iPad I received was 16 GB model and I wanted to exchange it for a64 or 128 GB model and pay the difference. I went to one of the local Apple stores to see about return the unit and getting a different model. I was told by an employee that since I didn't by the Ipad from the Apple store that could not exchange. I was told by the Apple employee that about the only thing I could do is try to sell the iPad on eBay or some other place like that. Really Apple the best you can do is tell me to sell the iPad on eBay? This a brand new iPad sealed in the box. It has UPC code and serial number on the box and everything and all you can tell me to do is sell it? is this the customer support Apple is famous for giving? This is a new Apple product and all I am wanting to do is exchange it for a model with more memory and pay the difference. I currently have 3 iPhones and 2 iPads in my house today, but after my experience at the Apple store I am questioning if I want to buy any more Apple products in the future. It may be time to switch to a company that actually values its customers and does their best to make sure they are satisfied customers!!!

You can only get a refund from Apple if you return the item within 14 days of purchase.
Your only option is to sell the iPad and buy a new one.

Exchange phone for different kind

I just bought the Bionic a couple days ago and I'm completely dissatisfied with the phone. Can i exchange it for a different phone like the Razr? What is the process of doing this at the store and what time frame do I have to take care of it? Recieved phone on 11/17/2011. I heard that this is an extended period to return/exchange a phone due to the holidays, cause I know it was 14 days, but now it has changed. you have 14 days to schange the phone
you can only do this ONE time
you will pay the restocking fee and any cost difference
you should be able to do it all in store
this all assume you bought it from verizon and not a 3rd party such as amazon/wirefly/ect

There is no way to lock the built-in email app. You can remove the password from the Mail, Calendars, Contacts settings, but you'd have to readd and remove that every time, probably not very practical. There are third-party apps that have a login feature within the app, so one of those might work for you. Or you can just use a web interface to your email, if your provider offers that, though many web interfaces don't work very well with mobile web browsers.
Alternatively, if your students just use a single app at any given time, you can lock the iPad to that app via Guided Access:

How can I manage multiple iPads for different students?

Problem: I need to manage multiple iPads for my students with special needs. I need to download different apps to different iPads and I'm not sure how to keep their apps separate but still keep ultimate control of the units (i.e. lock them from loading anything on the apps that we at the school district haven't approved).
I need to be the only one doing updates, loading software, etc., and don't want to keep using my own personal iTunes account...any suggestions?

Same Editing domain for different model descriptor

Background :
We have three different Ecore model A, B, C
where C holds reference to A and B
where B holds reference to A
Each model have there own editors and serialized to individual files.
Issue facing or not clear:
We are using Sphinx framework, where we have defined there own model-descriptors for A,B and C
On trying to retrieve the editingdoamin,
i.e TransactionalEditingDomain getEditingDomain(IModelDescriptor modelDescriptor)
it returns different for eobjects of A, B and C.
Due to this undo/redo and sync of the UI not happening.
Is it possible to get one common or shared editingdomain for all the model. Any hints would be helpful.

It is very strange that you end up with different editing domains for your 3 Ecore models. Normally, when you have set up a correctly configured metamodel descriptor, Sphinx ALWAYS loads ALL files that contain instances of the metamodel in question into the SAME workspace-wide shared transactional editing domain.
In order to be able to help you, I need to know more details about what you have done and intend to do:

Do you mean literally EMF Ecore models or your own model files that are based on a custom metamodel defined with Ecore?
Byre : We have modelled three different custom model using ecore_diagram, to our domain requirement like manager.ecore, dependent.ecore and configure.ecore
depenedent.ecore has reference to manager.ecore i.e Eobject in depenedent referes to Eobject in manager
configure.ecore has reference to both depeendent.ecore and manager.ecore

Do you mean IMetaModelDescriptors? The IModelDescriptors are automatically created by Sphinx and don't need to be provided by adapters.

Byre : To be more precise we have eclipse project, where all the three models resides. Via Navigator when try to open the models which would open in their respective individual form editors.
i,e Manger Editor, Dependent Editor and Configuration Editor
Exact problem : We have certain data of manger editor displayed in configuration editor, now via EMF command if any changes made related to manager model in configuration editor it does not updates the value in manager editor or makes that editor dirty.
On analyzing deeper we found the each editor had its own editing doamin which executed commands on respective editing domain stacks.

Byre : Yes, On digging deeper we saw that it invokes ModelDescriptor(IMetaModelDescriptor mmDescriptor, TransactionalEditingDomain editingDomain, IResourceScope resourceScope) thrice for each model browsed.

As I said, this is the default behavior of Sphinx. When everything is alright then it is hardly possible to make it happen that Sphinx loads instance files of the same metamodel into different editing domains.

Does Acer have a device exchange to a different model if date of purchase is less than a week?

I bought a Liquid M220 because I like Windows but the device will not read my sim card after using it for 3-4 hours. It will not receive call, messages and data even thought it has signal bars but it you check "cellular+SIM" under "SETTINGS", SIM 1 and SIM 2 are greyed out. I also noticed that the signal bars are not refreshing. i have to power cycle the device every time it does that. I already performed basic troubleshooting like factory default reset, uninstalling applications and changing the sim card but it did not fix the issue. I went to the store where i purchase the device and they exchange it with same model and my second phone have the same issue. I was willing to add cash to have the phone exchange with the Liquid V550 even i do not like using Androids but they said that they can only replace the phone with the same model. Please help

no cure for either unit, return for refund the only answer, none of the "tricks" listed work, all I want is a product that works, this ain't it.

Before you return it, did you try the "lowering Brightness" fix?
I, too, exchanged my iPad after having wi-fi issues. The second iPad suffered from the same problems. And yes, I did reconfigure my Router's settings according to Apple's suggestions--but that didn't work. So I ran across this thread: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2391395&tstart=30. I tried the solution discussed in that thread, and now my iPad's wifi works normally.

(And I disagree that a customer should have to purchase a different router simply because the iPad isn't conducive to mainstream routers. The iPad was advertised as compatible with mainstream wifi routers. We, the consumers, should not bear the burden for its incompatibility. Plus, try going to your local coffeeshop and telling them to get a new router because your iPad isn't compatible with their "low end" router).

An iPad does not have a user model. There is no 'log on' page, nowhere to enter a username and password. An iPad is just an iPad and doesn't know who is using it.

Chart of Map versions for different models

Does Nokia publish a matrix or chart of up-to-date map versions for the various phone models? I note that amongst newer models that qualify for the free navigation (i.e. maps v3.03 and up), there are some that can run v3.04 (such as E73), and others that run even newer maps versions, such as v3.06. In J2ME there is no method to get the model number from the device. how ever you can use the APIs provided by the device manufacturer if available. But still the APIs will not work with devices from other manufacturer or sometimes it will not work with the devices of the same manufacturer if the API is not supported. so it is better to send the device model name through the header.

WIN32_DiskDrive Shows same SerialNumber for same Mfgr but different models

We're trying to gather the serial numbers for all USB drives plugged into our users' workstations, but have run into a snag. The same serial number is being reported for different model drives and on different workstations. I've searched and searched trying
to find an answer, but as the serial number is supposedly generated by the mfgr, is this something that is distinctly done by say Samsung? Any suggestion would be greatly appreciated. TIA..

The SerialNumber isn't guaranteed to be unique. But as different manufacturers use different schemes for generation of SerialNumbers, they are mostly unique.
According to the document of Win32_DiskDrive class, this Number is allocated by the manufacturer to identify the physical media.
So I recommend you can contact the Manufacturer to get more detailed information about SerialNumber.

How can I set up iPad for use as a customer sales tool?

I want to use my new iPad for personal and business. For my business I want to hand to a customer as a self-driven presentation on my business created In Keynote or some similar program. But I'd like to lock all personal content so the customer can only explore my business content and not access personal contacts, music, etc. Can this be done? Recommendations on apps and set-up are appreciated.

Can't be done. All the customer has to do is press the home button and they're able to access all your apps.
You either need different iPads for different purposes, or mount it in a display cabinet that blocks the home button.
