Excite AT305 WIFI

I got this tablet about 2 month ago and it worked fine till today. Now I can not turn the wifi on and the wifi gadget also doesn't work properly. I am in the US Army in Afghanistan and because of the post office regulations I can not ship it out. Can somebody help me please? I paied $400 so I can skype with my family while here.

I have had the same problem for the last 3-4 months, but to answer yours Peter...  It simply shows a dialog "Turning on wifi".  That's it nothing more, nothing less.  Yes, I went through Customer Support a few times, and yes we reset to factory settings numerous times.  I think it is a hardware issue, and that I will have to send it in for repairs.  In the meantime, and every so often I check Toshiba's website/forums to see if anyone has any answers.  Obviously, since it has been 3-4 months I am not using the tablet very much or at all.

  • Please help Excite AT305-T16 got hacked - See Video

I just got the Tablet on 01/23/13. I ordered a used one (like new condition) from Amazon Warehouse.
It came very fast within 2 days. Look like the warehouse is in NV state and I am in CA.
    I got the tablet S/N:5C043564R.
You have to look at the video to believe me for what was happening.
This tablet has some kind of remote software installed which can monitor what you do as soon as you get on the Internet. At first i thought the tablet seems to be over responsive.
I haven't touched it but it managed to click and move itself.
While I tried to type in the password, the cursor will keep moving from the password field to the other.
I finally got into Gmail App and I was shocked to see what happened to the tablet.
Somebody remotely scroll+touch+zoom+up+down through my emails, trying to find some confidential information.
    I didn't believe my eyes.
I did power off the unit and restarted again. As soon as I got into Gmail app, it happens again.
I grabbed my phone to capture what happened and then turn the power button totally off.
4 hrs later, I wonder if it will act the same since I move to another location.
Before I connect the Wi-Fi, I went into Adroid setting and to do the factory reset, hoping to wipe off whatever is.
I almost thought that it did remove those hacker remote thing.
I was so afraid so I went in the App and disable GMAIL app and LogMein App.
Then I went to download some Antivirus software on the Google Play. I installed Lookout and Zapper Task Killer, hoping that I would kill or see what is running behind. Everything seems to be normal at that moment.
I installed and signup on other app like Netflix and Skype. Again I was having a hard time while entering the password because the cursor kept moving out of the password field by itself.
I finally went into email this time via PrintShare App.
Again I can see somebody has remotely scroll up & down and looked into my emails. Try to find something.
It does finally stop at the email that have my info, which my full name and address on it.
I could not believe my eyes. The chill was running down my back.
This is the real criminal here.
I am sending this tablet back for sure.
I just want to give a warning to the other user who might have bought the used tablet.
PLEASE BE AWARE OF THIS REMOTELY WATCHING YOUR TABLET HACKER

That Dude or Dudess from Toshiba is right.. I have a similar problem with my Toshiba Excite. I bought it off ebay as a Toshiba Manuf Refurb. I received it this past Wednesday. I opened it,  charged it and used it for about 20 minutes. All was fine. Thursday morning I turned it on and started using it to check my email and watch some news. About 20 minutes into it the thing starts bugging out. Mine is acting similar to yours, but my tablet keeps showing the menu, as if someone were pressing the very top right corner where the dotted drop down menu appears. It sucks, but it's kind of funny because I did the same thing you did. I put it on my wood desk and took a video of it clicking non stop, I used a wood desk so nobody could claim it may be some type of static issue.. Menu , no menu , Menu , no menu,  over and over and very fast. I never even had a chance to download any apps other than putting the info in for my gmail account. I emailed the seller on ebay and they said contact Toshiba. I called Toshiba, and although I have nothing bad to say about Toshiba they told me to tell the seller to take the item back. I think the Toshiba rep that posted on your issue hit it dead nuts. I just figured I'd share, I know I am not helping you other than letting you know that there is someone else out here with the same issue. Good luck, with yours..

  • Hangs at Startup - Excite AT305 T16

I have an Excite AT305-T16 and I am having the BLUES with it. I just received it from being repaired a month ago because there was a problem with the motherboard. Now, My Excite will LOOK as though it is powering on/starting up properly but does not go past either the Toshiba Innovations screen (very first screen) or the little horizon poppy screen (second screen that appears after it starts...I can't even hard turn it off for a LONG WHILE after I attempt to turn it on. I had a terrible time with Toshiba's customer service after my repair but I NEED HELP...my children are so anxious (it's their tablet that I purchased for them as a Christmas gift and it has been giving us the blues since the end of January). Not a happy camper/customer...BTW This is my CHILDREN'S tablet so I am not sure if there have been any updates or what apps they have recently put on it (immediately prior to this problem). I do monitor their activities on it and had not seen anything out of the ordinary. The day before it stopped powering on properly, it worked as anticipated.

My Excite startsup at a wierd screen and goes no farther Screen show time, date, the message "TRY AGAIN" Tom the right of this is a rectangle with a flashing verticular line in the middle of it. It is as thought it is awaiting a password or somethng? Do not know what!!A keyboard will display if I press _______________ Then touching the rectangle will display a keyboard (US) and message  for input options.  Nothing else. Pressing the input options key will cause the down arrow and home icon to display but trouch either and nothing happens but that the Input options menugoes away

  • I removed flash player by accident on toshiba excite at305 i upgraded to jellybean could not play mo

i removed flash player by accident on toshiba excite at305 i upgraded to jellybean i was supposed to upgrade flash not remove cant watch movies please help me

Thank you for providing so much detailed information; I wish more users seeking help would do that!
Unfortunately I do not have a clear solution for the specific problem you are seeing.  The video link you provided works fine for me with Flash Player 11.2 on Firefox 12 on both Windows XP-SP3 and Windows 7.
What I would try if the same thing happened to me:
try a clean install using the instructions in http://forums.adobe.com/thread/928315
to reinstall use the offline installers from http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/installation-problems-flash-player-windows.html#ins tall_in_a_firewall_proxy_server_environment
if the above does not improve the situation, I would try if a graphics driver update changes anything; see http://forums.adobe.com/thread/945765 (but I'm sure you know how to update drivers, with your background)
if all fails, I would try a System Restore to a date before the Flash Player update; all FP files are in the C:\Windows\... folders, so it should revert completely to the previous working version
Or you could try a manual install of an older version by
    using the uninstaller from http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/uninstall-flash-player-windows.html
then download and install the appropriate archived Flash Player from http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/archived-flash-player-versions.html
P.S. regarding the archived installers, you may need to disconnect from the Internet during the installation.  Some of the newer installers go and check for the availability of newer versions, and refuse to continue if they find any.
P.P.S. You can permanently turn off auto-update by using a mms.cfg file; see http://www.adobe.com/devnet/flashplayer/articles/flash_player_admin_guide.html
Most information in this admin guide refers to the new silent background update, but it also works on the earlier FP updater.

  • Toshiba EXCITE Pro - WIFI connection. Authentication failed after update

    Hello.
    Just received this Tablet.
Everything seemed ok while updating to the latest version (did that first to solve the heat problems).
After the last update *i lost my WIfi connection. Authentication failed* (didnt change something - was connecting - updating ok 1 minute before the last update).
After that i started testing ,Wps connection , No security Wifi etc etc.
*Finally at a random time (and with the initial settings) i got connected*. After i shut down the tablet the same problem occured.
After doing the same things again i finally got connected and this time it seems to be ok, even after i shut down the tablet.
    However this is frustrating.
Maybe you have to sort this out?
I have seen and other people returning this tablet after having this problem.
It is not a hardware problem since its working ok before the update.
Of course tried factory reset twice.
Hope i dont have this problem again, *but i am informing in hope that you fix this in a future update.*

Toshiba sent me the fix for this. Figured I would use Facebook and they sorted a solution straight away.
It requires a complete reset. Not the soft reset from within Android.
I'll post it here as they will check through moderation I guess.
Thanks for sending a private message Ben. For us to get this resolved for you we would advise to perform a reset from the Android system recovery menu, to do the reset please follow these steps:
The reset process will delete any data, settings, and applications on your tablet. You must have a backup of any data you wish to keep before proceeding.
    1. Make sure the tablet is off and not in standby.
    2. Hold down the Volume Up and Power buttons simultaneously until the two Android icons appear.
    3. Use the volume buttons to select the white box on the right.
    4. Once selected, press the power button.
    5. Use the volume buttons to select wipe cache partition and then press the power button.
    6. Select Yes and press the power button.
    7. Use the volume buttons to select wipe data/factory reset and then press the power button.
    8. Select Yes and press the power button.
    9. The tablet will now reset.
If you have any issues after the reset please get back to us as soon as possible!
Its been working well ever since. I guess the cache clean part might be the main one. You'll have to select the reboot yourself as I did at the end.
Might be best to use Facebook i'll see if I can find my post as the response was quick and efficient unlike their responses in here. I.e nowt from them so far.
They needed my name and serial numbers probably to log problems etc.

  • Cable for Excite AT305 USB Data port?

What cable do I need to get be able to use the UBS data port on my tablet? I see an HDMI one in accessories, and I have the charging cable, but I don't see for the data USB port. I need to know which cable to ask for and where I can get one.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

I had a really hard time finding a micro usb OTG cable anywhere locally (Future shop, Best Buy, specialty computer stores, etc). These cables freely available on the web, but I didn't want to go through the hassle of ordering and shipping a cable just to connect to the usb port and confirm that it works as advertised. The usb host was critical for me. The solution was to follow the recommendation in the following review: http://www.mobiletechreview.com/tablets/Toshiba-Excite-10.htm The reviewer recommended purchasing a Sony Tablet S usb adapter cable, as it is the easiest to find. So I went to my local Sony store and there it was: http://store.sony.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?catalogId=10551&storeId=10151&langId=... Oh, and the USB host works great.

  • Excite AT305 Jacket (PA1507U-1TJC) comments

Some comments in case you are considering purchasing the Toshiba Jacket (PA1507U-1TJC and similar).
    Pros:
It's well made, fits very snugly, and looks pretty sharp. The black "pebble" finish is very pebbled. I wish the blue version had been more readily available as I would have ordered it instead.
    Need to know:
Has no opening for the docking connetor so must lay open to plug in. The pictures that suggest it will be stiff enough to fold under and raise the tab in a keyboard angle are too suggestive. It's not that stiff when folded that way. Finally, since it captures the "top" landscape edge (the one with the camera), folding it under implies turning the landscape edge wth the cover on it to the bottom. This reorients everything (power/volume/camera). Some apps that will work landscape won't work landscape "upside down". None of these need be deal breakers--but an iPad Smart Cover it isn't.

Thank you for the product feedback and comments for future buyers.

Bluetooth and WiFi can coexist in the same 2.4GHz spectrum, but operate independently. Based on your attached pic, your WiFi isn't able to activate and begin searching for nearby networks. Since a reset to factory defaults didn't help, you'll probably need to talk to tech support next. It may speed up the call if you run any preloaded diagnostics before calling...
Don't wait long to contact support, because Toshiba will only pay for shipping back to depot during 1st 30 days after purchase!

  • My excite 10 isn't charging

I bought the Excite AT305 earlier this year,a month after recieving it I had to send it back as it wouldn't charge.
Got it about back about 6 weeks later and now 3 months later and the same thing is happening,I am so fed-up,I truly love my excite but lets be honest now,I am tired of sending the **bleep** thing back, once is truly enough.

The newest tablets to be released are the Excite Pure, Excite Pro, and Excite Write. I've used and like all three.
They're similar, but the Excite Pro and Excite Write feature a faster processor and a higher resolution display. In addition, the Excite Write features the TruPen, which allows you to write on the tablet with the pre-installed TruNote software.

  • Excite camera not working

the camera on my Excite AT305-64 tablet quit working. error message just says camera has stopped. i downloaded another camera app from google play and it works, so it's not tge camera itself. any ideas what i need to do?  download another driver for it perhaps?  where do I get it from?  i want my original to work.  any help Toshiba?????????????

There's no additional driver to download. If powering the tablet off and then back on again doesn't fix it, you could try a factory reset.

  • AT300 and GPS/Navigation

I recently received a new work vehicle, a Ford Transit which has a huge truck like feel inside and I decided to use my Toshiba Excite 10 as a GPS. I have tried a dozen apps on my tablet and every single one of them at some point along the drive bombs out the tablet and I have to pull over and power back on again. I have a mobile Wireless Access point so it is not related to the Internet/or lack thereof, since I have a working connection. On some of the tested apps I noticed that the GPS wouldn't even recognize until I either power cycled or went into settings and turned it off then on again. Do I have a defective unit or is this a known issue with these tablets?
    Thanks,
    David

"Bombs out the tablet" ???   Does it go into standby or does it shut down (off)?  What version of Android came on the tablet, and have you upgraded? (if so, to what upgrade?).
You can set the GPS refresh rate.  I've not had any luck with longer duration rates, having problems similar to yours on the few trimes I've tried.  The idea is setting it at 15 sec or maybe a minute say, the GPS wakes up, refigures it's position and delivers that to the waiting "user apps".  It then goes back to sleep for 15 second or a minute (or whatever you set) and so would save your battery.  Complete failure for me.   Using it at the update once per second rate, works like a champ (which is basically always on GPS and higher power drain rate).   If using mutilple Nav apps, be certain one doesn't set it at one rate, and a different app countermand it to a slower rate.    Try using the app  "GPS Status and Toolbox"   to get to the basic features of your "GPS" like doing a compass calibtration, seeing your Lat/Long or bearing to a single waypoint. "GPS Esscentials"  is a sweat little app that will do those and download (and store, if you desire from Google Maps) a map, and can then follow along it even without a data connection (after you get the map). GPS Esscentials can also find a route to a waypoint (made as easily as touching the map on the screen) if you have a data connection at least at the start.  The route is solved/generated by an off tablet server.   I've been able to run "Google Maps/Navigation" in map or satillite mode,  GPS Status and Toolbox, GPS Esscentials and NAV FREE (a full featured "GPS" app that gives similar performance to my car GPS or handheld Garmin Map60) all at the same time, and usually drive this way.   Four GPS Apps all running at once in harmony.
You are going to have to select a continuous usage GPS rate (or 1 update per second) and just suck up the higher power usage.  Even so,  I've used it from MI to FL and back, and "locally" on an off repeated 160 mi trip with battery to spare.
    I've been using a 10 in Excite AT305 with it's installed/not updated ICS 4.0.3.

  • Please help Excite 10 AT305-T16 screen not working

Hello my Excite 10 AT305-T16 WAS stuck on the lock screen. I reset it to factory settings by holding the "+" and power button. I was sure that this would have resolved the issue with my tablet but it didn't. I am still unable to use the screen of my tablet. The only thing I can do is power it off, by holding the power button. I'm not sure what to do with it now. other than continue to power it on and off even though there hasn't been a change in what's happened. Please help, I would like to be able to use it again.
P.S. I have never spilled anything on it, or dropped it.

It sounds like you'll need to contact customer support and set up a repair.
    You can call (800) 457-7777.

Oh wow finally apart of a community im so excited. Hi everyone. I just got abode edge animate and am not so familiar wif this product though i sense a hint of flash buried there somewhere can you guys please assist me in the basics of edge? thanks.

That's going to be a ridiculous waste of money and energy.
First of all, the current ATI drivers don't support multiple GPUs, so at the moment even a single 4870X2 would be only a 'normal' 4870 (which is quite a speed beast already). GFX drivers evolve rapidly, so things might look different next month, but when it comes to Linux and hardware there's one Golden Rule: stay away from the newest stuff and wait for proper support to get coded.
I also wonder what power supply could possibly cope with the differences between idle and full load; that's way beyond 400W. But then, I'm one of those "quiet&green" types where >100W idle is already a bit much.
I kind of understand that you want to get it done and not worry about hardware for the next 10 years or so, but that's simply not how the hardware world works and never did. At least not for the average consumer.

  • Excite 10 won't function on Wifi "N" GHz Band

I have 2 locations, one with a Linksys E3000 and the other with Netgear WNDR3700.  At both locations the Excite 10 will not find the SSID of the GHz N band, and will give an "out of range" when added. At both locations I can detect the N band and G band on my Ipad and Samsung Tab 10, and connect to either with both. The Excite will only detect and connect to the 2.4 Ghz "G" band.
Anyone operating an Excite 10 on the 5 Ghz "N" Band?

Thanks, you are correct.  I mistakenly thought the N mode was in the 5 GHz band.  My tablet shows a connection speed of 65 Mbps.  I understand that anything over 54 or 56 Mbps shows you are operating in the N mode.  Thanks to all for the enlightenment.

  • Feature/Improvement requests for next update of Excite 10 (AT305)

First, let me begin by giving praise: you built a great tablet! It's fast, beautiful, and mostly bug-free.
Now for my list of feature/fixes/improvements:
    1. File system support: as many before me asked - please add support for NTFS (at the very least) so we can copy files larger than 4GB into the tablet (4GB file size limit exists on FAT32 FS). Exfat/Ext4 support would also be a blessed option.
    2. Please add the option of rooting the device. I know it's a feature that only advanced users should use, so you can add a lengthy contract to devoid you on responsibility for any possible damage caused, or even better, incorporate a disaster recovery program for factory reset. If that's not an option, at least release the necessary information and ADB drivers that will allow the community to achieve this. It will only draws more people to buy this product as one of Android's main attraction is it's flexibility and programming freedom.
    3. Sound Loss. This happens once in a while. the sound provided by this tablet is great. Especially when the SRS audio enhancement scheme is employed. but every now and then, the sound stops working without warning or error. Please check and correct this issue. thanks.
    4. UPNP/Network/NMT video/audio playback. I am unable to play any video files over the network, and I've tried countless times with many different players. Including the media player provided on the tablet. It just returns with a message of not being able to play the file. I don't know if it has to do with my player storing files in NTFS format or something else, but I tried MP4/MKV/AVI and other formats with no success. If I copy these files over, provided of course their size permits, they play perfectly from inside the tablet, just not over the network. My NMT is recognized and found by the tablet, and I am able to see the files by using "Droided Media Tank". just not play them..
    5. Battery life. While on standby the tablet shows great battery life, it fizzles out pretty fast when in use. It's a powerful tablet, but should be more efficient then this. Please see if you can make any improvements on current performance.
If you can assist with attending these issues we will all be very grateful!
    Thank you.

I don't have any feedback for you, nor do I know what the plans are for the future, but I can definitely note and relay your feedback. Thank you!
