Excited, then disappointed

I had heard of Flash Catalyst ever since I went to Mix09 in Vegas. There our appetites were whetted with the promise that a new interaction design tool would be coming out of Adobe, with the power of Flash but much easier to use. The actual thing was a mystery, but it was interesting to wait for it.
Our company recently upgraded to CS5 and now I have it. I was completely blown away watching the tutorial videos and learning how to do some neat little "Hello World" type of applications.
This has some serious potential I thought, and began to tell my team about it.
Then, this week, I began to try a serious proof of concept with it. It would be an interactive demo of the newly developed mobile app for the Time & Expense entry system for our company, which our developers were working to build on Android, iPhone, and Win7. The initial clickthroughs were already done by a team member on the UX Design team (which I lead) using InDesign and turning it into a clickable PDF. I thought this was a good roadmap to base my POC on.
I imported the PSD into FC and began working away. That's when the dissapointment hit.
Simple things that you should be able to do, like assign the hover, focusIn and focusOut states on a text field, you can't do.
I wanted the "username" text in a login box to disappear when you clicked into the textbox, and learned that there are only two states, active and disabled.
I learned that you have to create a custom component to try to emulate the other states, which I tried to do, only to find that it produced an error when I ran the project
I learned that the project wouldn't run, and found the MXML error in code view, but couldn't edit out the line that was causing the error. In fact, there's no editing of any MXML file at all in FC. You have to jump over to Flash Builder to fix one teeny little thing.
I now face the prospect of never knowing how to get my project to run, except to start all over, because FC won't let me undo past the point of where I might have introduced the problem.
I learned that normal hypertext is not supported, and you have to jump through similar hoops to just click on text to show a PDF.
I learned that you can't rearrange the order of states so that you can change which is your start screen, and though you can create a default screen state for any state, it makes no sense visually to have it in the middle of your list of states, when it should be the first state in your states blocks.
Too many problems.
I'm pretty close to saying that Flash Catalyst should not have been released till Adobe figured out these things and polished up a bit more. This is an interaction development tool, and you can't do half the kinds of interactions I can do with plain HTML, CSS and Javascript. I don't want to write code for my prototypes. I want to deliver a prototype within a day or two and get sign off for my developers to start working on optimized codebase.
Don't get me wrong, there's a lot of power there, but Adobe has missed the boat and turned FC into what the military might call "a flying gas can." It gets off the ground, and can show you some nice sights, but it can't really DO the job of hitting targets.
So, unfortunately, I may have to give in and turn my sights on Microsoft's ASP/.net -centric Expression Blend and see where that takes me.

Shop around for a bit on eBay, I bought one of these for less than $10 including delivery to Europe (from Canada).
Works fine with my iSight on my Mac Pro.

  • My experience of the Lion OS download & issues

Hi..just thought I'd list some issues/reflections on the latest Lion OS..
Downloaded it last nite via the App store without hassle EASY! have it loaded on my Desktop & Apple Notebook...
Had some issues in 3 upgrades ie: Iwork, iTunes..fixed that via separate downloads except Itunes wouldn't update kept getting error message..
Logged into another user account and updated it there and it worked fine..
I use an older (2009) Apogee Duet interface which according to the company website isnt compatible at the moment with Lion..the latest Duet model of Apogee will..
The update fix for the older Duet will be in August according to their website.
When I try to change volume via my Duet interface it freezes / mutes the volume control..annoying..
I use Adobe Photoshop CS5.5 and had to download a Java update for it to work after the Lion install, Pshop ran smoothly at this point havent delved into other features as yet....
I guess its getting used to the changes and tweeks...
Apart from that most stuff looks ok..the gee wiz factor isnt really here in Lion..not excited nor disappointed..just indifferent...

    Hi,
Yeh mine downloaded fine in about 4 mins from the app store yesterday at 2:30pm (UK time), no delay whatsoever (I think its because the US guys hadnt started hammering the downloads at that point)
Install went ahead and promptly crashed on the normal boot screen (the apple logo and spinning icon) - well I say crashed, the icon kept spinning but nothing happened for an hour and a half. I then forced the power off and back on and then it carried on with the install, completed in about 6 or 7 mins on my mba13.
All my apple software upgrades went through ok no probs, I've had the same with CS5.5 (PS and AE) so glad to see its not just me!
The MBA's fan went mental on me for a while but after resetting the SMC and the NVRAM and then letting Lion finish building indexes and databases (hiutil and mdworker threads at 90-100%) its all good so far
    Cheers, Simmo

  • Symbian Anna...Deja Vu

I KNOW everyone is **bleep**, I KNOW everyone is disppointed, frustrated, angry....gosh the words does not cover the emotions involved...
I have gone through all the emotions...first the excitement when the news came out 'new update coming soon!'...then disappointment, followed by anger and now...a lil' bit i-don't-give-a-fruitcake' lol...
People, please realise, Nokia is a business...they make phones and they need to sell phones. They said they still have 10 phones to come out between now and approximately end of next year (2012). So you have to understand, they need to have a tactic in place, to get people to keep buying their phones. Otherwise, Nokia would go bankrupt and that's a no no (business 101). So their tactic is to delay software updates, bring in 'new phones' with the new updates in place, so that this will entice new buyers. They're then told 'oh there's a new update, coming soon'. They don't care about the old customers...they've got your money already...they're not entitled to give you 'free stuff'. (they missed the memo, coz loyal fans are GOLD).
Suppose if Nokia had given the anna update at end of q1 as 'planned'. That means all the old and loyal customers would've been super happy (SUPER DUPER HAPPY). BUTTTTT, then the x7 would've been obsolete, EVEN before it had came out!!! There would be no reason for people to buy an x7, especially since it would've been super duper expensive. On the other hand, people would be buying the n8/c7/c6 coz they'd be cheap...AND have the latest software. Now this would've been very silly!!
So relax people. Nokia is stuck in a rut...they can't do anything right, because...the only options they've got are either go bankrupt really early, or...get the people angry. They simply chose the lesser of the two devils, which makes sense. The job of a CEO is to keep the company floating...Now whether this tactic will work or not...well, it got many of you to buy the n8 early to get the update...so it might work again in the future...maybe
Yes there's heaps of problems, yes you've worked hard for your money, YES YOU'RE SUPER DUPER ANGRYYYY...but that won't change the tactic at Nokia. So take it down a notch, go ahead and vent your frustrations and anger (in a sensible way...). IT IS NOKIA'S FAULT, but they gotta do what's right for them...
Hoping you all have the best of days ahead...

    Hey Jerspa!!
I think we can agree that symbian is dead. it's not the future. We should've seen it coming, i mean...like you said years and years but that only produced a still unfinished product. I think meego's the future.yes it's not dual core or has a super duper awesome plus and multipled amoled screen. but the clear black display is awesome when comboed with a normal amoled. no complaints there. I doubt a duo core/quad core is that important for a mobile (ok my point of view). The only thing i'd miss is the 1080i vids. but games and other apps...i'm gonna stick with my laptop/computer.
Now i'll wait for a meego with 1080i vid +30fps caf, xenon flash, and usb otg. note, that's MY dream phone...mine, not anyone elses...
oh and a good battery of course
First off: I didnt claim that symbian is dead.
    Then why i rant here?
    Answer:
My last phone were 3720 classic, it were fine working phone. Everything worked as expected without bugs.
Now when i take the N8 from my pocket which is premium phone and 3x more expensive than 3720 classic, the 2 first months were horrible. Everyday that "insert sim" "phone rebooting" "program crashed" stuff. Then Pr1.1 came, which still didnt provided the support. PR1.2 fixed the  problems with email etc. That were only corporate stuff.
So lets talk about those leaked vids about PR2.0:
In february we saw allready working splitscreen qwerty and draggable HS + new browser. <- less than 4 months from the delivery date to market. That was impressive, but it isnt anymore since it takes 6 months to deliver that damn update. Thats unacceptable.
Lets look the PR2.0 press release in Conversations:
    http://conversations.nokia.com/2011/04/12/announcing-symbian-anna-aka-pr2/
Now lets pick up the cherries:
Enhanced Browser (v7.3): <- This is new
Enhanced Ovi Maps (v3.06): <- This is allready newer
Enhanced Ovi Store (v2.06.xx) >- Same for here
Enhanced Social (v1.3) <- Same for here
So as you can see, wheres the all time spend? theres nothing new, Nokia is really lettings us like without clothes to middle of antartica with S^3 phones, the support for this is horrible.
Theres no way that any of PR team or Dev team can defend this situation until they let the iron curtains down and show us the one fact: Why it takes so long? What is wrong? AND WHAT ARE YOU DOING TO MAKE IT BETTER?
As we seen above, Skyee's team aint working at the social team, nor in maps team nor in ovi store team.
So while i debunked the all "we are working hard" claims, theres really nothing that can explain the delay.
Funny fact is that S40 phones are getting the same functionalities as S^3 so why would anybody buy this over priced N8?
I mean, Compare N8 to C6-01 that phone is 2.5X cheaper than N8. Still the N8 doesnt have ANY extra that would justify the price?. This also the thing why i am very angry.
When Comparing to E7 and  N8, E7 is in lower stage in the portfolio pyramid and still its more worth, it has more functionalities than N8, same price. In the S^3 phones, N8 is the loser. Nothing really supports the price.
Also when i bought the N8, i skipped the N95 and N97* because i saw those via friends, i know that those got problems. So i hoped so much that the S^3 would be new symbian, rewritten and a os that have rid off the same old failures that N95 and N97* got in software quality.
Damn it, everything were even worse than those phones, even small basic functionalities are missing here and there. This so half baked product, Even the MP3 player is mising a EQ <- A basic function, been on phones for many years. Even N95 and N97* have that LMAO.
Theres really nothing new in this Anna update, this is why the stocks goes down, this why the sales wont go up. S^3 is the total failure in nokias history,  how it can be, that the S^3 phones are in 3rd generation which fails in SOFTWARE QUALITY.

  • Tis the start of the downward trend of Verizon

As soon as my Nexus 5 gets here i will be cancelling my contract, thus saving 50$ a month, and 600$ a year, and 1200$ for an entire contract period. Going to a prepaid service most likely. Am excited, and disappointed in Verizon, but my regrets will turn into happiness as soon as i cut the cord, as should you all too, who is considering it.

    Oh, I get it.
Pointing out all of the other times in the past where Verizon's days were numbered = I get paid. I wish!
Personally, I could care less if people leave or people stay. EVERY time I go to get a new phone, I ALWAYS look at the other providers to see if their service would be a better fit for my needs.
I used to have Cellular One( which became Cingular and then AT&T) before I switched to Verizon. At one point, I had a Sprint phone AND a Verizon phone. Unfortunately, Sprint service was extremely spotty in the areas I frequent. Looking at the coverage map from Sprint and T-Mobile, my home is clearly in a roaming zone for both of those providers so they miss the cut each time for that reason alone. I would not like to have my service terminated with those providers if I use too many of my minutes/data/texts while roaming which would certainly be the case if I went with them and as is spelled out in their service contract. I prefer to sever ties with a provider on MY decision, not theirs.
I think people should ALWAYS go with the provider which suits their needs best. If a specific phone fills that bill, then so be it. But as I have stated previously, I have heard your prediction, " Verizon's glory days are coming to an end soon.." all too many times in the past and I am sure I will hear it again several times in the future.
Funny thing is, I also see that same prediction about other cellular providers on their hosted forums each time when I am researching my next equipment upgrade.
Now if you will excuse me while I go cash my check, it is payday after all.
Have a WONDERFUL weekend and don't forget to "Fall Back" for that extra hour of sleep on Saturday!

  • Only works while plugged in. Not charging?

I bought a 16GB Nano yesterday. I downloaded iTunes, connected my new iPod and everything was going fine. It connected to iTunes, updated to the latest version, synced my music, everything seemed fine. But when I disconnect it from the USB port, it turns off and can't be turned on. The buttons don't do anything, it won't display anything at all. If I plug it back into my computer, it comes on and works normally. When connected to my USB port it constantly says its charging. Even after a whole night it still said it was charging, but went completely dead when disconnected.
I called Apple today about it, and their solution was to take it back for a new one. I did so, but my new one is doing the same thing. Connects fine to my computer and iTunes, constantly says its charging, but dies as soon as its disconnected. I'm using the USB 2.0 ports on the front of my computer, which work fine for charging my old Philips MP3 player. I don't know what's going on. The thrill of owning my first iPod has gone from excitement to disappointment to despair.
I've thought about buying a wall outlet charger to see if that would charge it, but I don't want to spend another $25 if it won't fix it.
    Help?

Question: What does your nano's battery symbol in the top right look like?
I previously had it set to the default of syncing whenever it was connected. It would sync, then disconnect while it was still plugged in. You could then use it like normal to play music or whatever, and in the upper right it showed the little battery icon being full green with the lightning bolt through it. If you turned it off, it would switch to the charging screen which shows the large animation of it charging.
Now I have it set not to automatically sync. I plug it in and it stays at the "Connected" screen telling me to eject before disconnecting. When it shows this screen, the battery icon in the top right is always full white with the lightning bolt on it.
    Is all that normal?

  • "Load files into Photoshop layers" fails to complete CS6

    Hi all,
Hoping someone can help with the folling problem with Photoshop & Bridge CS6
When in Bridge, after selecting 6 images (CR2) using the command TOOLS>LOAD FILES INTO PHOTOSHOP LAYERS the first file will load into Photoshop, Photoshop will then generate a second blank layer and then read the second file. At this point the "script" will stop. I am left with a document with 2 layers. The top layer has my first image, the bottom layer is empty.
At this point when I quit Photoshop I am prompted to save this open document which appears to be the only open document. I choose not to save this as a file. I then get a dialogue box prompting to save another open document. Photoshop has loaded the second file to place as a layer but as the "script" has aborted I am left with an open, but invisible file.
When I first loaded CS6 on Snow Leopard, it would demonstrate this behaviour every time I attempted to run this command from Bridge.
I did a clean install on a blank HDD of OSX Lion. Installed CS6. The command worked without fail for about a month.
Then I would get the command aborting occasionally. Restarting Photoshop would let me continue for a few hours before this aborted script problem would happen again.
Over the last week it has become more frequent, to a point where this workflow is unusable.
A restart of Photoshop may fix the problem for the next batch of images, only to fail again soon after, or fail on the first attempt after a relaunch of Photoshop.
A reboot of my computer will allow my to load one or two sets of files before again failing to complete the command.
    I have tried the following:
    In Photoshop preferences:
    disabling the "Use graphics Processor"
Increasing or decreasing the amount of RAM available to Photoshop
Changing the cache levels or changing the cache tile size
    changing the scratch disk
Trashing the Photoshop preferences file (Photoshop Settings.psp)
    In Bridge
    Purging the cache
Increasing or decreasing the cache size
Resetting Bridge preferences (holding Command on launch) and deleting all cache files.
    In general system
Quitting extra programs (Safari, Thunderbird, iTunes)
Sometimes this will seem to then allow Photoshop to load a full set of images, only to abort again after a few sets.
Rebooting the computer - again will work for a few images sets before again failing.
Now the fact that it worked fine for several weeks without presenting a problem would indicate that it is not a bug.
The fact that is slowly started happening then became more frequent would indicate something changing slowly over time - a larger cache folder perhaps, although purging known Bridge cache folders has not filed the problem.
Really at the end of my tether here. Even considering downgrading to CS5 - but don't want to have to use the older Adobe Camera Raw.
    System is as follows:
    Mac Pro 2 x 2.66 Quad Core
    24GB RAM
    ATI Radeon HD 4870 512
    OSX Lion 10.7.4
I have seen a couple of others have posted having a the same problem, both with CS5 and CS6.
    Hoping someone has an answer.
    Thanks.

Hi JJMack - I just re-read your post. For some reason I thought you were suggesting to make sure "Open documents in Tabs" was selected, it was. Now I realize you were suggesting to turn it off! As another attemp to solve this problem I did de-select it today. Seemed to work for a good while. I was getting very excited, then, on the last set of images I had to do it displayed the same problem. But, it did go for quite a while without failing, and when it did I was thrashing about trying to make another app active. When loading documents like this - with "Open documents in Tabs" de-selected, Photoshop wants to put the loading images as the front-most window, no matter what other apps (Bridge, email, web etc) I click on in the dock. I think it is related to the bug you described effecting the "load files to stack" command.
Hopefully Adobe is looking at this - mind you, I have read reports of people having this problem in CS5! Looks like that was never resolved sadly.
I'll keep testing and post back.
I am looking to upgrade my video card to see if it's a video memory thing.
What is very weird though is the fact that this problem didn't present itself until after several weeks of working with this command with no problem. No additional apps installed, nothing changed. Why would it start happening only after a while?
    Thanks again for your suggestion.

  • Why I'm giving up my Q10 to go back to the Bold 9900

    Hi,
I wanted to take this opportunity to detail my experiences and frustrations with the Q10 and why I have decided to return to the Bold 9900.  I'd like to stress that these opinions are my own.  I recognize that the industry has a whole has embraced the touch screen concept.  But I believe this change isn't right for everyone as I hope to demonstrate below.
I am a very stanch supporter of the traditional Blackberry.  I work in IT for a nearly 2,000 user organization.  We have 36 IT people on staff and I am the only one still using a Blackberry.  I choose to remain with my Bold 9900 for the sole reason that it is the most efficient device I have ever used.  Every operation I'd ever want to perform with the device is only 2 or three physical clicks away and perhaps just as importantly, thanks to having physical buttons, those actions are performed in exactly the same way every time. It becomes muscle memory and can be performed regardless of the current state of the device.  When the Q10 was announced, you'd be hard pressed to find someone more excited then me.  I very much wanted this phone to succeed.
I have now been using the Q10 for a few days now and have encountered a number of what I personally consider show stopper functionality issues.  These are issues that I believe are not simply related to my lack of familiarity with touch screens but an issue innate to the touchscreen concept itself.  Some issues could be resolved through software updates while others simply cannot.
I have detailed a few of the more pressing frustrations I have below.
    - First and foremost, I use an application on the 9900 called "ShortcutMe" by Fonware.  This application allows you to write custom macros and assign them to any key on the keyboard.  This provides a massively increased efficiency.  From any application I'm in, I can press the same 3 physical buttons to have the phone launch anything I want (End Key to get to the main menu, space bar to activate shortcut me, the letter that matches up to the macro).  For example, I have macros to quickly launch the flashlight as well as more complex macros to automatically toggle between enabling and disabling Caller ID.  I decided to swtich devices when I discovered that Shortcutme now exists for OS10.  Immediately after purchasing it however I received an email from Fonware stating that Blackberry currently doesn't allow access to any of the API's required for the macro functionality to work.  They apologized.  Because of these closed APIs, I can no longer map all of the functions I use the phone to physical keys which completely negates one of the biggest benefits there are to having an always present physical keyboard
    - In messages, if you want to select "mark prior read" you can't because due to the nature of a touch screen, there is no concept of highlighting an object. A compromise exists where you click and hold on the date and then select "mark as read" from a popup menu that appears. However, this only appears to work for the start of each day. If you want to select all messages before a message in the middle of the day, you cannot. Additionally, the compromise forces you to select messages one at a time by tapping on them. I often receive bursts of automated alert messages that could be 30 or more messages in a row. With a track pad, I was able to quickly select just those messages mark them as read. I see no way of completing the same task as quickly with a touch screen
    - A purely touchscreen interface demands restraint on behalf of the developers when building UI elements to provide a consistent experience. For example when you hold the phone in your hand, your thumb naturally rests on the keyboard and is within reach of all the keys, and where the trackpad and physical keys were. It would also be within reach of the bottom right of the screen where the back button often -- but not always -- is. For example, if you scroll through your messages and select one to read, the back button is at the bottom of the screen in easy reach. However, if you now try to reply to a message, the cancel button (which performs the same operation as back) is now at the physical top of the screen which requires you to completely shift how you're holding the phone to reach.
    - Like all touchscreens, if your finger is slightly touching some other portion of the screen and you try to select an option, the phone doesn't respond until shift the phone in your hand so that you're so that you're only touching the button you intended.  This results in unintended actions that simply cannot occur with a non-touch screen device.
    - You can no longer access internal memory as a USB mass storage device. I wanted to copy a traditional telephone ring tone to the phone (because one is no longer included) but could not simply copy the file to the device through Windows Explorer. I had to insert my microSD card before this was possible.
    - Blackberry is not allowing apps to run in the background which means my two must have apps (Shortcutme and Bebuzz) don't work as intended. In the case of Bebuzz, you're forced to leave an active frame opened with it to function.
    - The applications shortcuts functionality no longer exists. For example, I can no longer press L to get to the calendar or hold K to lock the device.  Instead it searches the device.  On OS7, I could get to the same functionality by first pressing s.  However, it was much more common that I wanted to jump between applications so why this is not a toggleable option is beyond me.  (Admittedly, I do know why.  OS10 is a completely different code base which means all of the subtle optimizations made to the legacy code base no longer exist and they are starting from scratch.)
    - Memopad was replaced by Remember.  Memopad was by design a simple application that served only one purpose -- quickly make notes about something quickly.  Memopad was instant.  Blackberry Remember admittedly has many more features but those features come at a cost of efficiency and usability.  If these features were desired, they could have been made available in a separate app.  There is a reason that notepad exists on Windows despite almost all systems also shipping with Word or similar.  Also, when you do finally use the Remember application to enter text, you only get a tiny portion of the middle of the screen to actually see your entry.  On the Bold 9900, you can see 12 lines of text. In remember, that is reduced to just 5.
    - It is possible to use every function of the Bold 9900 with one hand thanks to the trackpad.  This is far more difficult with the Q10.  For example, try selecting and copying text that exists at the top of the screen on the Q10 with one hand.
    - Playing solitaire and other card games on the Bold 9900 is simple enough to do and can be done with one hand and with little physical motion.  Trying to play Solitaire on the Q10 is more cumbersome as it requires two hands in order to comfortably reach both sides of the screen.  You also end up blocking the card you are trying to select with your finger.  This may seem like a more esoteric example but its representative of the kinds of issues you have when trying to use a touch only interface
I could go on but I think it's clear where my frustrations lie.  Blackberry has decided to abandon their most distinguishing competitive edge (the keyboard) and instead embrace the touch screen concept just like everyone else.  And that is a shame.
If anyone shares any of these frustrations, please reply to this message and share your experiences.  I'm curious if I am as unique in my opinions as it sometimes feels like.
    Thanks
    - Robert Vance

    Hi Robert,
I have a similar background and thought process as yourself. I have been a die hard Blackberry guy. I have had
    (2) 8250's (with the side roller)
    (2) 8330 Curve
    8900 Torch
    (3) Playbook's
    My kids (2) 9360 Curve
    9900 Bold
Tried the Z10 and now the Q10.
I am normally very patient with technology. My rule is that I do not use the device until I have read the ENTIRE manual before I use it for the first time.
After using the Z10 for 2 weeks and the Q10 for a week, I will be going to a Samsung Galaxy S4. I am incredbily frustrated and not even sure that the S4 is the right solution.
Nothing can beat the track pad for efficency. My 9900 is simply bogging under the pressure of my use (over 5000 contacts and hundreds of pages of notes). I even deleted everything I can off the 9900 to make it last as long as I could.
The Q10 simply lacks the refinement we were promised. At it's core, it is not effecient and I cannot see how they will make it better. Calendar additions used to be 2 clicks, now it is 5 and I have to wait for things to load. On top of that, my bridge does not work properly (no contacts, no email, no calendar, no notes).....what is the point?
Here is what I cannot do well or at all
    Select specific text
back out of certain areas without closing the app and going back in
Easily tell what email address I am sending from (I have 5 address for various reasons)
Shorcuts (that might just be me not doing enough research)
Easy notes (although I did find an app, but it will not hook up with my Outlook)
    Google Maps
    Enter Calendar events quickly
Mark multiple messages read or unread
Turn my phone off and have the alarm go off in the morning (Bedside mode is the new "OFF")
Entering Bedside mode is not easy (That I have found)
While I am on the subject of the Playbook, it has become very slow and almost unusable. Even something as simple as bringing up the keyboard or turning down the volume has a huge delay.
I have even developed and built a company on using the Playbook, but am now thinking of abandoning the entire platform....I live near Waterloo (the home of Blackberry).
I am VERY frustrated and do not know what to do. I feel like I cannot go back to the 9900 due to the slow downs and lock ups that I was experiencing. I WILL NOT go to iPhone (my kids have had several iDevices), my only choice seems to be the S4......

  • "Load files into Photoshop layers" completely missing from Bridge CS6

No options to load files into Photoshop layers. Why not, and how can I put several files into one Photoshop layer?
I'm using Bridge CS6 and Photoshop CC.

  • "Load Files into Photoshop Layers" persistent misalignment problem

I'm having a persistent problem which technical support was unable to resolve after being on the phone with them for 1.5 hrs.
I'm working in Bridge CC in ACR, synchronizing all parameters incl. crop, transform, exposure, etc. of a bracketed group of images shot from a solid tripod. When using the Tools / Photoshop / Load files into Photoshop layers command, the images open in photoshop in a layered file, BUT some are knocked out of alignment. Actually they have been cropped slightly smaller than the original file, always by the same number of pixels. Sometimes all layers are affected, sometimes not. Photoshop and Bridge are both up to date, as is the camera raw plugin. I’m on a new iMac i7 4-core, OSX 10.9.4. All software was newly downloaded from Adobe less than two weeks ago. I have reset preferences, even uninstalled and reinstalled Bridge CC 6.1.0.115 to no avail. Any suggestions?

  • How to remove a password from an iphone 4s with IOS 8.0 and screen with n

My phone broke, it wouldn't turn on at all. My service provider couldn't even try to turn it on because of the 2 small cracks that are both under an inch. I ordered the screens, watched a video on how to replace the screens. I did everything right I thought, I plugged it in and it turned on. I got so excited then realized the screen doesn't respond to my finger, or anything. My home and lock button do not work so I can't restart it that way! I have a password on there so I can't just plug it in to iTunes and reboot it from when I backed it up. I need help.

Well, normally, people set a passcode.   But if you want to remove it, that's fine.
Setttings - Passcode - Enter your passcode - Turn Passcode Off
    That's it.

  • Nokia 500 belle updates please?

if i was not mistaken, symbian anna or should we say symbian ^3 phones should be able to get belle updates on q4 of 2011 but it was postponed and was moved on q1 2012 which is january to be specific, with great courage ang faith to nokia, we users waited for so long, and now nokia vietnam announced an update on feb 8 2012 and all of us were excited then now, there are so many complaints about the update, now nokia 500 will wait for a week? A month? Nokia, will you please be considerate on your customers?

    Hi trarumaya,
You cannot install fonts yourself, the only way to get additional languages on your phone is to visit your local Nokia Care Point and ask them to do it. Please note that they can usually install only local languages, so it's best to phone them or visit the shop for more information.
If you only want to browse websites, we would advise you to give Opera Mini a try as it is capable of displaying different language fonts.
    Hope this helps,

  • ITunes library cannot be read

Hmm so excited - so disappointed. Can't even get past loading the software.
    Get the following error message:
"the file itunes library.itl cannot be read because it was created by a newer version of itunes."
what the heck do I do with this?

I had this same problem. You need to find your iTunes library.itl file (just use the search function on your computer) and delete that. Your itunes should create a new file, one that actually works .

  • Hypertext for Reader in Android

I was surprised to find that Reader for Android does not support hypertext links - specifically mailto: like the windows version does.  I keep a directory for a group that includes links for email addresses making sending emails from the directory very convenient.  When the other PDF readers that came with my Galaxy S4 would support the hyperlink - I sought out Acrobat reader for Android and was elated to find it exists - and then disappointed to find that it does support hypertext either.  I had hope to find that was also a link I could put behind the phone numbers to place a call - ie: CALL: - That would really be a nice feature for PDFs on a smart phone - but sadly no.
I think this would be really great functionality with many many uses.
    Thank-you

Getting one of the latest devices would obviously give you the best performance, but any device which supports Android 4 or above should be good enough.

  • N9 looks great - Why did Nokia go with Symbian 3 a...

    Hi
I've had the N8 for a year now and I'm pretty tired of certain aspects of it while I really like some. my biggest gripe is the general slow and laggy performance of the device while I love the design and Nokia's great support for non major languages T9 support.
I would have bought the N9 if it had T9 support for Icelandic, the device looks and feels great and even though I like apps most of the are way overrated and don't improve your productivity so I could live with the limited offer on the N9.
What surprised me most is the great look, feel and smoothness of the MeeGo platform vs. Symbian 3 which looks like a badly suffering arthritis old man compared to to the fresh N9 look and feel.
Why on earth did Nokia push for the Symbian 3 and not MeeGo with Intel 2 years back?
So far google didn't turn out anything that seems have made that decision seem logical at the time.
Well I'm happy for those who have the N9, it's the best looking phone out there today and the best touch phone from Nokia so far and for sure more exciting then W7Phone.

What do you mean? Nokia has never pushed for Symbian with Intel (Symbian has been pure ARM, and not Intel, all along, as far as commercially available mobile phones are in question). The Intel cooperation was about Linux (maemo -> MeeGo) from the beginning.
