Exclaimation point beside song titles of ipod library!

recently my ipod will not play any of the songs on it, and if i try to play those songs using itunes, an exclaimation point shows up beside the song title... what does this mean?

I have always been able to play the songs from off my ipod using itunes. I have taken all my song files from off of my computer and onto an external hard drive, but this was some time ago and i have never had a problem... i manage all my music manually so my ipod has never tried to automatically update based on the few songs that i do keep on my computer...

Update song titles in ipod

Hi I just got my 30gig video ipod. Some of my songs say track 6 or do not have the artist. When looking in itunes they say the same. Is there a way to get the names and artist for all my songs in library?

I have a question for you. I have done this on several songs that have had the wrong band name or the band name was in the song title.
These songs were previously sinked to my ipod (its the 30gig color one that shows movie moddle). Now when I sink it I can't find these songs when I go to say look under all songs for a band. If it helps I believe the ones that don't work the band already had songs with the right name in it.
Do I just have to clear my ipod and let it resink all the songs (which would take some time I believe) or is there a solution to get them to show. Thanks.

Why after upgrading to the new os do some songs in the Ipod library have a dashed circle next to them.

After upgrading to the new os some songs in my library will not sync to my Ipod. I can see them on my computer in the Ipod library with a dashed circle next to them. How do I get them to play on my Ipod. They are songs from store bought CD's in my Itunes library that will play on my computer in Itunes. They do not appear on my Ipod. I can see them when the Ipod is connected to the computer in the Ipod library. I reset the Ipod by holding the home & power button, I went into general settings and reset the device. I synced again but still no songs.

I have the same problem even from iTunes bought music it appears with dashed grey circle beside the ones that I have recently added to my iPod by downloading them from the iPod itself. I honestly think it has to do with the 7.0.3 update that they have recently released. It may have solved other problems but it has created more problems along the way.
Hopefully there will be a solution soon, if anyone has news or solutions please post thankyou

After deauthorizing, how to remove song titles from that library

After I deauthorize my purchases, how can I get the unplayable song titles off of that music library list?

I was sharing with someone else. we both have music in the same library. there is a lot to delete one by one. is there a way to highlight only what I purchased in a group then delete? I have already backed up the music. but I don't want to leave a mess in the persons library. ideas other than one by one erasing?

Why can't I play songs in my iPod library when it is connected to Itunes?

My iPod Classic never allows me to play any songs from it;s library when it is connected to iTunes. The songs come up in grey and it is impossible to highlight any of them, or physically do anything with them.

You cannot play songs on your iPod unless it is ejected using iTunes or disconnected from your computer.

Cant remove 2 songs from iPad iPod library

I've removed all songs from my ipad but there are 2 songs that will not delete for some reason. Same song from same artist duplicated. Any idea how to delete this without doing a complete reinstall??

I'm also assuming that the first thing you tried was to remove the songs in the iPod app, tap edit, then tap delete and that didn't work. The one final thing would be to restore from a backup, if the songs are not on the backup. if they are, maybe something screwy occurred on your iPad since you first tried this and maybe the backup would not be screwed up. Then you could try the whole delete and resync thing again.
Were these songs that you downloaded from iTunes or were they songs that you imported on your own from a CD? My reason for asking is if they were downloaded, maybe they were somehow corrupted in the process, or it was a messed up import, but I guess you would have realized that by now if that was the case and problems would have arisen when you tried to play the songs.
Wish I had something else for you to try and I know nothing about Windows if the issue is on that end for whatever reason. Hope you get this resolved.

all files from an external hard drive or mp3 disc imported to my itunes library have a "!" symbol in front of the song and i cant locate them in my ipod.

The exclamation point means iTunes cannot locate these tracks/files in the location you originally imported them from. Meaning either they were deleted or moved to another location. Right->click on any track and select Get Info. Then under the Summary tab look to see the location where iTunes is looking for the track.
If nothing else, removed all your missing tracks and re-import them.

How do I add multiple songs to the iPod library at the same time?

Before the iTunes update, I was able to add multiple songs to the library. Now I must add one song at a time. How can I get enable my iTunes to allow me to "add file to library" with more than one song?

I use add folder option when adding more than one file. Never tried to add more than one file with the add file option. Long ago when I started with iTunes, I made a folder to use when importing files when I was not ripping in directly.

If all these songs with exclamation are within the same folder, you can do a one time fix:
Double click a song with ! mark on side, you will be given an option to locate the file where the song is held. Select "locate" and direct it to the folder / file where the song is and open it.
iTunes then will give you the option to use this process to update all of your library. OK that as this will do it automatically instead of doing them one by one.

Itunes shows exclaimation point

Can someone please tell me how I can access a song that has been purchased, shows up in my library but has an exclaimation point beside it. When I click on the song a window comes up saying that the file could not be found. Ironically, it is on all the maroon 5 songs.

In itunes, do a file > get info. It will say it can't be found and ask you to find it on your hard drive. Browse to where the song file is located.
Did you move folders around on your hard drive using Win Explorer? That could cause this problem.

Album art downloaded by iTunes shows in iPod, not iPod Library in iTunes

I had iTunes add artwork to the songs in iTunes. The art shows up in the "Selected Item" windows when I click on one of the songs in the iTunes Library.
I added those songs to the iPod. When the iPod plays one of those songs, the artwork shows up fine.
When the iPod is connected to the computer and I click on one of the songs in the iPod Library, the art does not display in the "Selected Item" window, even though I know it has album art. This makes it difficult for me to know which albums I need to add artwork for!
If I add artwork manually, the art shows in "Selected Item" whether the song is on the iPod or in the iTunes Library.
Has anyone encountered this? I have "display album art" checked for the iPod.

Hi,
It's the same with me. It appears that only manually added artwork displays. Songs with downloaded artwork show a blank in iTunes when I play them from the iPod, although on the iPod itself the artwork shows.
This has to do with the fact that downloaded artwork is not embedded in the mp3-files, in contrary to manually added artwork.
What you could try is to embed downloaded artwork yourself (wait for a rainy sunday afternoon though). Use this program to extract downloaded artwork from your iTunes libray: http://sourceforge.net/projects/iaae/

5G iPod- Can't access my iPod library in iTunes

Help! I can see the songs on my ipod library but I can't access them. I can't put videos into my library, but my video podcast manage to find there way into it. What am I doing wrong? i've installed the newest update and reset the ipod, but no luck... any suggestions? thanks... it's driving me crazy...

We now have the same problem. From our iMac we can see our PC's iTunes library, but cannot load it; the progress bar runs indefinitely. The PC, however, can see the iTunes library on the iMac. This used to work.

Some songs incomplete in Ipod 2gen 4gig, Driving me crazy !!!

Hi everyone.
I have an issue with an iPod Nano 2gen 4gigs Pink. Some songs are just incomplete... they just play for around 30 seconds and then stop.
I have an iPod Touch as well and those same songs from the same itunes play just perfect. What s more is that when connected to iTunes i can play those songs from my iPod library with no problem on my mac, I also tried on other macs.
So the songs seem to be complete and fully uploaded to the iPod memory, just they won't playback.
I already did a reset of the iPod and re-uploaded the library to the ipod, and now some songs that weren t playing before now do, but some random other that played before now don't work anymore...
Can anyone help me with this ? it s driving me crazy, please !

I am having same issue with Gen 3 Nano, 8 gig, Red. Need help its like half my music. i have learned that on SOME songs you can scan forward past about 30sec and listen to rest of song, but this is not a fix. any ideas?

How can I get song titles to appear in iTunes library when transferring songs from iPod to iTunes ?

My old computer crashed. Trying to recover music from iPod. Can transfer music, but not song titles. Titles appear in 4letter mpg formats. What am I doing wrong?

Provided the files were properly tagged then iTunes should pick up the data when the files are imported into the library. The main problem is usually any files in .wav format.
