Exclude songs from shuffle on iPod Nano?

Hi,
Does anuyone know if it's possible to exclude certain tracks from playing when I choose to shuufle the tracks on my nano?
I have 80 tracks by one sratis (all spoken word) which I don't want to hear when i shuffle the tracks.
Thanks

If you put the tracks you want to hear in a playlist, and then go into that playlist, you can set the iPod to only shuffle within that playlist. To do this, start playing within that playlist, but don't use the shuffle on the main menu, use the one in settings and it will keep you inside your current playlist, album, artist, etc.

  • Transferring songs from ITunes to IPod Nano

I have IPod Nano 5th Generation, and the latest IMac operating system.
Had no problems until today, because yesterday I downloaded the brand new ITunes 11.0 (163). Trying to transfer songs from ITunes to my IPod Nano. Not sure if I should submit this question in the ITunes section or the IPod Nano section, so did both.
ITunes used to - until today - show my device (IPod Nano and its playlists) on the left side column of ITunes, above the ITunes playlists. So I could just click on a ITunes song on one of the ITunes playlists and drag that song into one of the IPod Nano playlists above it. Now with this new version of ITunes nothing shows up on the left side, so I have no way of dragging songs from ITunes to IPod Nano. An IPod Nano icon does appear on my desktop, but clicking on it or its contents does not show any IPod Nano playlists. I could click on the IPod Nano icon on my desktop and then click on "all files" on top. There is an area that shows all the IPod Nano songs (I think),  but it does not show the IPod Nano playlists.
    1) How do I get the IPod Nano playlists to show?
    2) Please advise how to transfer songs from ITunes to IPod Nano playlists when using this new ITunes 11.0.
    3) If this cannot be done, is there a way for me  to go back and reinstall the previous version of ITunes?

I don't think the late/great Steve Jobs had this "new and improved" version of ITunes to be so darn frustrating.  It used to be relatively simple to put songs into a playlist or to import purchased songs from ITunes into an Apple device such as the IPOD Nano.  "Simple" used to be the selling point of Apple products.  What happened?  With this new version, I feel like I've got to contact Apple Support to do simple tasks.  It seems like I'm not the only person having this problem.

  • Excluding songs from shuffle, but including in playlists

Is is possible to exclue a song from shuffle mode, yet have it still play in a playlist?
I believe this used to be possible, but I'm unable to do so recently.
Thanks in advance for any help in this matter.

Jeff, thank you for your reply. I am aware of how to skip songs while shuffling. Let me try to explain my issue another way.
I have assorted Beethoven, Mozart, other classical music on my ipod. About 50 songs or so. I have deselected them from playing in shuffle mode.
However, I have put them in a separate playlist "classical music" so if the mood should strike, I can listen to them. When I select the "classical music" playlist, it only shows the first song in the list, and now playing 1 of 1, then abuptly stops, even though there are 50 songs in that playlist.
I imagine it is doing this because I have taken them out of shuffle?

  • How to exclude songs from shuffle on multiple devices?

Hi - I just successfully excluded Chirstmas songs from the list of songs that play during 'shuffle' on my work computer by using 'Get info' and 'options' (thanks to this support community - thanks!).  Now, how do I make this apply to my other devices that aren't computers (iPod, iPod nano)?  If I plug the other devices into my work computer and accept whatever syncing options pop up, will that do it?  I just want to be able to shuffle without hearing 'We Wish You a Merry Christmas' in June.  Thanks for any help.

I would use playlists for this, and then shuffle the playlist not, the whole collection of songs...
I also use the recommendations of this blog to shuffle through my mp3 colleciton (since it is larger than what the ipod can store.
check both this links for recommendations

Smart lists are a Godsend. I use it to set playlists with only my music (my wife's music is also int he same library). It justs works...

  • Can I load different songs from CD into Ipod Nano?

Paying 99 cents for a song . . in an ipod that can hold 1000 tunes. You'll have a 1000 dollar walkman before you know it SO, I was wondering could I load the existing CDs that I already own in the Ipod Nano library?

Sure, just rip the tunes from your CDs into iTunes in whatever supported format you want (mp3, AAC, etc). Then just sync the Nano to iTunes and it will automatically download the song files to the Nano. Note that you have to convert your audio CD songs to a file first, then transfer it to the Nano, using iTunes. You can't just stick a CD in the drive and download directly to the Nano without using some sort of ripping and transfer software.

  • Excluding songs from shuffle mode

I enjoy listening to my library in the shuffle mode but am having trouble removing certain items (itrip stations, my 14 month old daughter's baby einstein music, etc.) from the shuffle. The library is too large to create a smart playlist. I have attempted the -get info, options, skip when shuffling route-for every unwanted selection but the songs and stations still appear in the shuffle mode. Is there a way to accomplish this without unchecking the songs? I have searched every tutorial and exhausted all of my support help. Thanks.

I have gone in under info, options, skip when shuffling for each song and updated the ipod afterward but the skipped songs keep getting into the shuffle. I'm not sure how to skip songs on the ipod itself as you suggested, I'll look into it. Thanks for your time and input.

  • Load songs from cloud to ipod nano

I have purchased several songs and all of them have gone to the cloud. I am trying to put all of those songs from the cloud onto my ipod nano (7th gen).

An iPod nano can't interface with the iCloud directly. You need to download them to a computer's iTunes library first.

  • Songs from iTunes to iPod Nano

My son received an iPod for Christmas today. We plugged it into the iMac, iTunes opened, we registered the little fellow, and it proceeded to download EVERY SONG in the iTunes library rather than the ones my son had chosen in his playlist. How do we rectify this? Otherwise, he will spend time deleting songs from his nano.
    Thanks in advance.

If you are using iTunes from version 7 onwards, then when you connect the iPod the summary screen should automatically open. If you then click on the 'music' tab, you will see the options to:
"sync music" with either "all songs and playlists" or "selected playlists".
    Choose "selected playlists".

  • How can I only sync only certain songs from itunes to ipod nano

    Hi
I have the latest version of iTunes and latest iPod Nano, with the older version of iTunes all I had to do was untick the songs and playlists I didn't want on my iPod and they wouldn't sync.
They are still unticked, but they as sync with my new one and my iTunes library is huge.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks
    Kirsty

I have checked my selections and everything that I don't want on my iPod is unchecked, but yet still syncing.  I have even tried to manually select songs and it's still syncing everything.

  • The song from the latest iPod Nano commercial

Hello and sorry if this question has been asked, but in doing a search I couldn't find it, so could someone tell me the artist and the name of the song that Apple has used in the current commercial I saw today? I was wondering if a CD of this artist is avialable as well.
The commercial is just this song playing in the background and various colors of iPod's being twirled in the dark, leaving a colorful trail, the commercial and the song both rock and are a brilliant piece of marketing on the part of
    Apple.
    Thanks.
    Dell Dim. 8200   Windows XP

I wasn't sure either but thank you! (Just listened to a cut of this song and thats not it, unless the commercial is some remix version, but it does not sound anything like it)

  • Is there a way to get my songs from my old ipod to my new one?

i was just wondering if there is a way to get my songs from my old ipod nano to my new ipod nano because some of the songs i have are not in my itunes... so if there is a way to get my songs from my old ipod to my new one can someone tell me how please

You can't copy directly from one iPod to another. If the songs on the old one aren't in iTunes you need to copy them back and update the new one from there. If you have any iTunes Music Store purchases the transfer of purchased content from the iPod to authorised computers was introduced with iTunes 7. You'll find details in this article: Copying iTunes Store purchases from your iPod or iPhone to a computer
The transfer of content from sources such as songs imported from CD is designed by default to be one way from iTunes to iPod. However there are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve the music files and playlists from your iPod. You'll find that they have varying degrees of functionality and some will transfer movies, videos, photos, podcasts and games as well. Have a look at the web pages and documentation, this is just a small selection of what's available, they are generally quite straightforward. You can read reviews and comparisons of some of them here:

iPod Access Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)

There's also a manual method of copying songs from your iPod to a Mac or PC. The procedure is a bit involved and won't recover playlists but if you're interested it's available on page 2 at this link: Copying Content from your iPod to your Computer - The Definitive Guide
Whichever of these retrieval methods you choose, I would also advise that you get yourself an external hard drive and back your stuff up, relying on an iPod as your sole backup is not a good idea and external drives are comparatively inexpensive these days, you can get loads of storage for a reasonable outlay.

Is it possible to play songs by artists on Ipod Nano ?
    Thank you for your help

when you click on artists, and then select the artist you want, it can ither go straight through all of the chosen artist's albums and songs in cd order, or you can put it on shuffle mode so it can put songs in a random order.
