Exclude specific songs from factoring into auto calculated Album Rating?

I really like using the calculated (empty star) Album Rating system, however I was wondering if there was a way to exclude some songs on an album from being averaged into the Album Rating. My reasoning for this is that I don't want intros/outros/skits or bonus tracks to bring the overall rating of an album down (there are many albums in my library that drop down a star rating because of bonus tracks that I don't really like, but wish to keep a part of the album for collection purposes). Is there anyway to make this happen? Thanks.

You do have a very complex looking site and may need several tables in mysql to handle all that data. If you knew to phpmysql I would suggest taking a look at this tutorial it will help get you started in understanding how to $_GET info from a database and also how to $_POST data to a database. If your country's iTunes Store allows you to redownload purchased tracks, I'd delete your current copies of the dodgy tracks and try redownloading fresh copies. For instructions, see the following document:

Log in to the Store. Click on "Account" in your Quick Links. When you're in your Account information screen, go down to Purchase History and click "See all".

I have the same problem. I recently moved my music from a Vista PC to a new Laptop with an external CD drive. It will copy one song from the CD and it will show in the Music file and then I get the message ' Error importing a CD - Folder not found'. I must unplug the CD drive and plug it back in. When I downloaded I tunes and bought Match all 3 of my computers synced. Now I download a song from Amazon into Media player or burn a cd and they are not syncing with the other computers. I update match and have my boxes checked in preferences.

Yes i've tried all of that. I've turned it all the way on and off and erased all of my music and put it back on and nothing works. And with the breaking up CDs and putting into compilation categories i have already fixed all of that stuff. It's fine it just doesn't show up in the list of artists. I can find the album in the songs category and the albums category it's just it doesn't show tha name of the artist. All of the other albums that i downloaded before i updated my itunes to th most recent update are fine. It's just the two that i downloaded afterwards. Thanks for trying though.

I fixed this issue (with help from tech support) and it involved several things.
After adding a song to iTunes, right-click on the song in iTunes and select "Update iTunes Match."
OR go to the iTunes menu-->Store-->Update iTunes Match.
Maybe that's the reason, it just hadn't updated to the cloud.
OR maybe it's not a high-enough bitrate file. This happens to me because most of my tunes are home-recorded.
Sometimes converting to .mp3 or Create AAC version might work. (You do this with a right-click in iTunes, and then you will want to remove the original file from iTunes.)
There is an iTunes Preferences setting, under General Preferences called Import Settings. Try setting it to AAC Encoder and iTunes Plus. That (I think) causes imports to be slightly better quality.

Not authorized...cannot load songs from iTunes into iMovie

I was importing some songs from iTunes into iMovie, something I've always done and never had a problem with before, until this wknd. After I had loaded in the songs into my iMovie timeline, and they played just fine, I then started getting pop-up boxes with the msg. stating: "This computer is not authorized to play...mp4... If you purchased this song you can open iTunes and authorize this computer to play this song by entering your Apple ID password." I did indeed click on the link to authorize, and put in my password, and then when I tried loading the song again, I got another pop-up box w/an Error msg. What gives? I have never seen this before. I checked out the authorization on my computer in iTunes, and it did state that I am authorized (I am the only one who uses the computer). I read some of the posts, do I have to De-authorize, then authorize again? I just don't understand the problem. I even tried burning the songs I wanted onto a disc, then tried re-importing them to iTunes, and it was still the same problem! I thought the whole idea of iTunes was to be able to play them with a project.
Any suggestions would be most appreciated, thank you.

It is a bug that Apple is aware of and apparently working on. I think it is an iTunes bug since it seems to effect both iDVD and iMovie. See these for a few examples...

to Itunes as a compressed file
Try to save to iTunes uncompressed - if you uncheck the "compress" option, the file will be exported in aiff-format, CD quality. The file size will be larger, but your slideshow will have a better soundtrack.

I am trying to find a solution to exclude specific users from being authorized (AAA command authorization) when entering commands on the switch/router.
We use an AAA setup with Cisco ACS. On the devices we use:
aaa authorization config-commands
aaa authorization commands 1 default group tacacs+ local
aaa authorization commands 5 default group tacacs+ local
aaa authorization commands 15 default group tacacs+ local
is it possible, to exclude an user, say User1, from being command authorized?
In other words, when User1 logs on the switch/router, the switch/router shouldn't check the ACS if User1 is authorized to use this command.
We tried this with method lists in combination with ACL's on the VTY's:
line VTY 0
access-class 1 in
line VTY 1
access-class 2 in
Let's say, User1 always logs in from a specific IP, which is mentioned in access-list 2, the switch would use the method mentioned within the line vty 1.
But apparently, when a remote connection is being established, the switch/router uses the first VTY which is available, instead of watching which ACL can be matched to the source IP from the User.
Does anyone have some tips/tricks how to handle this?
Maybe a custom attribute from the ACS?

If that user belongs to a unique group then you can write a policy where "if the user is in group x then return "access_reject" Or return "access_accept" but set the privilege level to "1" and block all commands.

I was having this problem if I changed the name of an artist for an entire album from in grid view. This ended up changing the name successfully, but left me with the first track as a separate item in the grid. The solution suggested by bkpr worked for me; I entered the artist name into the album artist field, and saving this change merged the album back together. Updating Specific songs from iTunes to Ipod

So ive updated info on itunes, like album art, album title and stuff like that and im trying to update those specific songs on my ipod. Its about 200 songs that i have updated, my music library has about 1900 songs. Im not trying to update each song on my ipod just the 200 or so that i have updated in itunes. what's the easiest way to do this?

But auto sync will sync all the songs in my itunes library, I dont want that.
If they are already on your iPod, it will only sync changed items.
If you are manually syncing because you only want part of the library on your iPod, then you can auto sync only selected playlists instead of the entire library.
Create playlist(s) and sync only those playlists.
Select the iPod in iTunes. Click the Music tab.
Tick *Sync music* and *Selected playlists*.
Tick the playlists you want on the iPod.
Then just add/delete from those playlists and plug in the iPod.
You can create a new smart playlist and Match rule;
Playlist is not iPod playlist (the name of the playlist you have chosen to sync).
This will show you songs that are not on the iPod.
and the day i did that, all the songs showed the "Date added" date the day i did that. Not the original date i had really added the songs to the itunes library.
But you simply copied the song files and not the _iTunes library files_ so that was the correct date you added them to that new iTunes library.
And I have 2148 songs on my ipod, only 1973 in itunes
When you iPod crashes or you have to Restore (and you will at some point), you will lose all the songs on your iPod.

Trying to find a way to copy songs from iPod into Library

My computer crashed and I had to reformat my computer. I lost all music files to include iTunes. I still have all of my music on my Nano and have since reinstalled iTunes.
Now I can't seem to find how to copy the songs from my Nano into my Library in iTunes. Please help!

First of all try this method which works on some Windows PCs..
Open iTunes and select edit/preferences/advanced/general. Put a check mark in the box marked "copy files to iTunes music folder when adding to library" and also "keep iTunes music folder organized", then click 'ok'.
Connect the iPod whilst holding down the shift/ctrl keys to prevent any auto sync, and if you see the dialogue window asking if you want to sync to this itunes library, click 'no'.
Then go to file/add folder, open 'my computer', select your iPod and click 'ok'.
The music files should transfer to your iTunes.
If this doesn't work (and it may not because officially it's not supposed to), check out the instructions/suggestions here.
Music from iPod to computer (using option 2). This a manual method using "hidden folders" and although it works, it can be messy.
Much easier ways are to use one of the many 3rd party programs that copy music from the iPod to the computer.
One of the most recommended is Yamipod. This is a free program that transfers music and playlists etc from iPod back to the computer. However, it does not transfer playcounts/ratings etc.
There is also CopyPod. This does preserve ratings/playcounts etc if those are important to you but this program is not free.
If you are using iTunes version 7 or later, then you can transfer purchased iTunes store music from the iPod to an authorized computer by using the "file/transfer purchases from iPod" menu. Note that the maximum of 5 authorized computers applies here.

Error when transfering specific songs from iTunes to iPod

I am having this problem: When I am transferring new songs (manually)from my iTunes library to my iPod, I got a error message - my iTunes is in Spanish - which translated into English reads:
"Error when trying to copy in disk NAME OF IPOD. Unable to read nor write in the disk"
It happens with very specific songs, not all new songs but some of them. First I thought these songs were corrupted, however iTunes and WMA can plays them with no problem at all.
I have a 4G, 20Gb iPod, 1.79Gb free space, already installed latest iPod Updater 2005-10-12. Have no issues related to play songs on iPod.
Is there any other way to check if songs are not corrupted ?
Is this a problem related to my iPod ? Pls advise.
