Excluding values from variables selection

Hi,
I would like to exclude certain values from the variable selection. There are several plants available in my InfoProvider. But I only would like to show the plant A100 to A400 in the query selection. Is it possible to realize it without using authorisations?
Thanks a lot for your help
Regards
Marco

Hi Marco,
This can be done in several ways...
Make ur variable as selection option. And in Variable screen select Selection Options icon which is next to Save. Under Exclude from selection tab, enter the values that has to be excluded.
If ur variable is user exit variable write an  ABAP code to select Plant Values between A100 and A400 using I_STEP=1.

  • # value in Variable Selection screen

    Hello,
              Can you please help with the below:
    How do we remove # (Not Assigned) value from Variable selection screen. When I select PLANT in one of the  report, I see # value. But there are no empty values in the cube. So, I am not sure as why I am getting this # value in Selection Screen.  The seeting in Web designer for READ MODE is "Posted Values" and  not  "Master data or Dimension Table".
    Thanks.

    have you checked what Bex properties are set in the Info Object for "Query Def. Filter Value S"
    Select Values from Info provider.
    that might solve your problem. But ensure you're not disturbing anything else by changing this property.

  • Urgent: How to exclude a particular value from the selection in the infopac

    How to exclude a particular value from the selection in the infopackage.
    Ex: not load for cost center 10000
    Thank you,
    sam

    Hi Sam,
    You cannot do this directly as exclusion, but you can include all other values, even as ranges and thus exclude the particular value, else you can also try to do this by writing a routine.
    Hope this helps...

    Hi All,
    I have an xml file which i import to the Indesign CS3 .From the structure view , i drag and drop the root node on to the page. Now i select an xml value from the page. Now i need to get the element tag and value from the selected value.
    For example
    File Name : sample1.xml
    <Root>
    <employeeName> A</employeeName>
    <employeeEmail>[email protected]</employeeEmail>
    </Root>
    Now i import this sample.xml in my indesign CS3 and from the structure view i drag the Root  tag and drop it on the page.Now the values of the element tag are displayed.
    Now i select "[email protected]" from the page and i have a menu "Get Selected XML" on clicking which  i should get element tag with value.(i.e <employeeEmail>[email protected]</employeeEmail>)
    How to go about it.?
    Thanks

  • Show selected value from multi-selected parameter in crystal report

    Dear Experts!
         i would like to ask how to catch selected value from multi-selected parameter to show in report header section.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi Dara,
    If this is a string prompt then you could simply create a formula with this code and place it on the report header:
    Join({?Prompt name},", ")

  • How to supress value '#' in variable selection screen?

    Hi gurus,
    i wonder if there is any solution for this question:
    Before query execution, when system requests variable values, in the list of available values for filtering 0calyear, allways apears value '#' and the rest of values loaded in the infocube.
    0calyear is defined as "Only values in infoprovider", and there isn't any blank value ('#') in the dataprovider. I also have executed RSRV tests for deleting unused values in dimension table.
    Regards
    As allways I'll assign points

    So, as I read, there is no way to remove this "# value" from selection list in variable screen, unless i delete this initial entry in p-table. I've tried to delete this entry (vía debug) and its OK, the # value is no more displayed. But I think that it could be dangerous, couldn't it? Anybody know what could happen if i delete this P-entrys in some infobjects?
    My question is only about variable input screen, not the results displayed (i knew that you can exclude this value in query definition).

  • How to exclude values in report selection ?

    Hello experts,
    I am in NW 2004S BI 7.0 .
    My requirment is to exclude some values in the selection screen of a report in BEX.
    for examaple, out of 200 employees, i want to execute the report only for 198 employees and to exclude two guys.
    Is there any way to achive this in the new version of BEX ?
    Regards,
    Ravi

    Hello Ravindra,
    if you have values fixed for a query to be excluded, you can always restrict the infoobject with these values and click the exclude option when restricting. On the restriction screen where you move values from left to right pane, right click on the values and say "exclude"
    2. if you want to exclude values during run-time, create variables on that object with user input option. during run-time(i.e while query execution), in the selection screen (i.e values input screen for that infoobject), you can exclude these values.
    Hope this helps..
    thanks,

  • Passing Multiple Values from Multi Select

    Hi,
    My requirement is simple. I have created a simple Multi Select Option in parameter form and i want to send multiple selected values from the multi select option (in parameter form) to reports.
    eg:
    I want to send multiple countries code as input .........'US', 'CA', 'IND', 'UK'
    Can i do it in Oracle 6i reports, Thanks in Advance.
    Regards,
    Asgar

    Hi Thanks Again,
    For such a nice response. I got the Lexical Where condition properly running but still getting problems in catching the multiple values to be passed from form. just i will give u an insight of wat i have done:
    SQL:
    SELECT ALL FROM EMPLOYEES &cond_1* -- Working FIne
    in my Html Parameter Form i have an Multi Select component (the Problem is here) it is not passing more than i value from the form once i am accessing it from web or running it in paper report. In paper report layout it is not allowing me to select more than one value. but in HTML it is allowing to select multiple values but at the server end (After Parameter Form Trigger) it is giving a single value not multiple values.
    In PL/SQL when i checking the length of country_id i m getting it as one.
    Here is my SQL code
    srw.message(10, LENGTH(:country_id_1));
    :cond_1 := 'where country_id = '''|| :country_id_1 ||'''';
    This is passing the condition properly to SQL but only with single value but i want to pass multiple values
    I am struck in this+_
    WHERE CONTRY_COLUMN IN ('USA','UAE') -- This variable you have to pass from you form...
    Here as you said you gave multiple selection in your parameter form to generate report. So before generation report just prepare variable like this as it is bold above.
    and pass parameter through your runtime form to the report as you pass the normal parameter...liket this i gave you example...
    ADD_PARAMETER(PARAMETER_LIST_NAME,'P_CONT_PARAM',TEXT_PARAMETER,vString);
    Sorry for troubling you for a small thing but please help me to solve this issue.
    Thanks Again............
    Asgar.

  • Struts: getting multiple selected values from a select element

    Hi Friends,
    I am a total newbie with struts,I have manage to run a simple login script,
    Now I was wonderingif there is a select box and user has the ability to select multiple values from it how do I get those values in the *Form class
    my select tag looks like this
    <html:select property="listboxValue" mulitple="mulitple">
    ...options--
    </html:select>
    in the ****Form extends ActionForm{....I have setter and getters for getting the value  from select box as below
    public void setListboxValue(String value){
    this.listboxValue = value;
    and the getter is
    public String getListboxValue(){
    return this.listboxValue ;
    please never mind the missing brackets and such.
    What I was hoping to get to work was something like this
    public void setListboxValue(String[] value){
    this.listboxValue = value;
    but that does not work...If I have the an array being passed,it seems like this method is no even envoked
    Please guide me
    Thanks

    I'm having trouble to get in the ActionForm all the selected values in my multiple select. I select all the values by setting to true the selected attribute of all the options in a javascript function. In the ActionForm the variable is String[]. I'm not getting any ClassCastException, but I only receive the first value selected (String array with just one element).
    Select definition:
    <html:select name="detalleConsultaForm" property="destinatarios" multiple="true" size="8" >
    Javascript function:
    function validalistarelacion(campo)
    {   if (campo.length < 1)
    alert("Campo sin valores");
    campo.select();
    return false;
    for (var i = 0; i < campo.length; i++)
    campo.options.selected = true;
    return true;
    ActionForm:
    String[] destinatarios;
    public String[] getDestinatarios() {
    return destinatarios;
    public void setDestinatarios(String[] destinatarios) {
    this.destinatarios = destinatarios;
    What I get:

    hei bro,i had solved the problem :)
    the problem is , i had constructed the form of hotelDes01 each time the program starting with this code
    public class KutaBeachDictionary extends MIDlet {
        public KutaBeachDictionary() {
            //.. declaring several new object
            htlDes1 = new HotelDes01(this);
        //..another procedure like startApp, pauseApp, etc
    public HotelDes01 htlDes1;
    }i think if i declare this class in the beginning it never updated the index value
    so i delete the code above, and i declare the htlDes1 in the listMenuHotel like this:
    public class ListMenuHotel extends List implements CommandListener {
        //..several code just like before
    public void commandAction(Command cmd, Displayable dsp) {
            if (cmd == cmdSelect) {
               objHotel.setChoose(getSelectedIndex()); //i change the code like this
               showInformation();
            if (cmd == cmdBack) {
                Display.getDisplay(run).setCurrent(run.lstMenuUtama);
        public void showInformation() {
            HotelDescription htlDes1 = new HotelDescription(run); //reconstruct the object in the class ListMenuHotel
            Display.getDisplay(run).setCurrent(htlDes1); //display the object
        }so the form of hotelDes01 now always reconstruct whenever user change the election in ListMenuHotel class and now index value get updated.. :D
    thanks for trying to fix the code qnat..
    this is my coursework, so i get to finish it ASAP..

  • Limit list of values in variable selection screen

    Hi
    Apologies if this has been asked / answered elsewhere, but I thought I would put it out there, at least while I continue trying to find a solution.
    We have a requirement to limit the data from which a user is allowed to select values in the variable selection screen. I know how to write the ABAP code that will return the list of data from which the user can choose, but not sure how to implement that in the query variable.
    Essentially, the BEx query needs an input on username, and the current user should be able to choose from a list of usernames. That list of usernames should only be usernames to which the current user has access.
    Don't worry about the linking of current user to user names, that is taken care of in our DSO.
    What I am after, is limiting the data that comes back when the "F4 Help" type button is pressed on the variable screen.
    I can default a value in the customer exit variable using ABAP code in the i_step = 1 loop, but that doesn't seem to effect the list of data available for selection.
    Any decent ideas?
    Cheers,
    Andrew

    Hi Andrew,
    As charlie suggested go for Analysis authorization that is the simplest approach to restrict values for any object, in another way you can use following BADI for value restriction using ABAP code, refer the below link.
    [http://www.consolut.com/en/s/sap-ides-access/d/s/doc/YY-BW_BADI_F4]
    By using customer exit you can only populate default values but you will not be able to restrict F4 help values.

    Durgesh.

  • Retrieve input values from the selection screen

    I have a requirement to retrieve the variable value or values inputed from the selection screen and label the worksheet tab to replace the tab name 'Sheet1' from the Excel. The only way to do this would be to write a macro to label the sheets but how would I retrieve the value(s) from the selection screen criteria? Is the value of the selection screen entered by the user stored in some table? How would I write the macro to retrieve this value?
    For example, I want to retrieve the company code entered from the selection screen and lets say the company code entered as 10; I would want to replace the worksheet from 'Sheet1' to '10' . Texts would be more recognizable.

    Use the option Layout->Display Text Elements->Variables from the BEx toolbar. This will display Variable screen user input on your workbook in a fixed location. Then you can use your macro to name the worksheet with the cell reference.
    Thanks
    Vineet

  • Get all values from multi select in a servlet

    Hello,
    I have a multi <select> element in a HTML form and I need to retrieve the values of ALL selected options of this <select> element in a servlet.
    HTML code snippet
    <select name="elName" id="elName" multiple="multiple">
    Servlet code snippet
    response.setContentType("text/html");
    PrintWriter out = null;
    out = response.getWriter();
    String output = "";
    String[] str = request.getParameterValues("elName");
    for(String s : str) {
    output += s + ":";
    output = output.substring(0, output.length()-1); // cut off last deliminator
    out.println(output);But even when selecting multiple options, the returned text only ever contains the value of the first selected option in the <select>
    What am I doing wrong? I'm fairly new to servlets

    I am using AJAX.
    I will show you how I'm submitting the <select> values by showing you the flow of code:
    This is the HTML code for the <select> tag and the button that sends the form data:
    <form name="formMain" id="formMain" method="POST">
         <input type="button" id="addOpts" name="addOpts" value="Add Options" style="width:auto; visibility:hidden" onClick="jsObj.addOptions('servletName', document.getElementById('elName'))">
         <br>
         <select name="elName" id="elName" multiple="multiple" size="1" onChange="jsObj.checkSelected()">
              <option value="0"> - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - </option>
         </select>
    </form>Note that the "visibility:hidden" part of the button style is set to "visible" when at least one option is selected
    Note that "jsObj" relates to a java script object that has been created when the web app starts ( The .js file is included in the .jsp <head> tag )
    The following code is taken from the file: "jsObj.js"
    jsObj = new jsObj();
    function jsObj() {
    //=================================================
         this.addOptions = function(url, elName) {
              var theForm = document.getElementById('formMain');
              if (window.XMLHttpRequest) { // code for IE7+, Firefox, Chrome, Opera, Safari
                   xmlhttp=new XMLHttpRequest();
              } else { // code for IE6, IE5
                   xmlhttp=new ActiveXObject("Microsoft.XMLHTTP");
              url += this.buildQueryString(theForm.name);
              xmlhttp.open("POST",url,true);
              xmlhttp.send(null);
              xmlhttp.onreadystatechange=function() {
                   if(xmlhttp.readyState==4) { // 4 = The request is complete
                        alert(xmlhttp.responseText);
    //=================================================
    this.buildQueryString = function(formName) {
              var theForm = document.forms[formName];
              var qs = '';
              for (var i=0; i<theForm.elements.length; i++) {
                   if (theForm.elements.name!='') {
                        qs+=(qs=='')? '?' : '&';
                        qs+=theForm.elements[i].name+'='+escape(theForm.elements[i].value);
              return qs;
         //=================================================
    }And this is a code snippet from the "servletName" servlet:public synchronized void doGet(HttpServletRequest request,
              HttpServletResponse response) throws ServletException,IOException {
              PrintWriter out = null;
              try {
                   response.setContentType("text/html");
                   out = response.getWriter();
                   String output = "";
                   String[] values = request.getParameterValues("elName");
                   for(String s : values) {
                        output += s + ":";
                   output = output.substring(0, output.length()-1); // cut off last delimitor
                   out.println(output);
                   } catch (Exception e) {
         }So anyway, everthing compiles / works, except for the fact that I'm only getting back the first selected <option> in the 'elName' <select> tag whenever I select multiple options

  • Filtering a sharepoint 2010 list using Multiple values from Multi-Select Filtering In Infopath 2010 form

    I am creating a browser based InfoPath 2010 form Calendar Filtering
    using SharePoint 2010 Calendar List (All Events) and InfoPath 2010.  This form has data connection to the Calendar list. Goal is to
    compare Calendar Events from Current Year to Previous Year. I have 2 columns called - Previous Year and Current Year. I have 2 drop-down controls in each columns called
    Select Year  and Select Week. I also have common drop down called
    Select Category which holds category of the events such as weather, power outages and so on. I wish to display specific events on specific date and specific week on both columns.
    I am able to filter the list based upon Year and Week
    on both these columns by applying rules in the InfoPath 2010 form. The real issue is that I want to apply category filter on the search result of
    Year and Week. Or it needs to show all the values if I
    select Category value as All. So I wish to apply filter on Search results using Category drop-down list selection.
    Hope I could explain this better but I tried to do the best here. Any suggestions, hint, or pointers
