EXDATE's BlackBerry Syncing and other discoveries

I may be wrong, but when my BlackBerry refused to sync with my Mac, I did some investigating and found that the BlackBerry Desktop manager does not handle Exception dates very well. Thus I started looking for these in the iCal database.
I tried this and it might work for you. As always, I recommend dragging a copy of the folder you will edit out of the Library (to your desktop)before making these edits, so if something goes wrong, you can replace the folder you destroyed.
If someone in the know can comment and explain about EXDATE's I would appreciate it since this is kind of like blind editing, and though it has worked for me, I would like to know why or if there is a better way. I feel kind of like a monkey with a machine gun doing this edit.
Repairing iCal Calendar problems by editing the .ics files found in user/Library/Calendars/xxxxxxxx.calendar
BlackBerry desktop manager does not like Exception dates EXDATE's. The calendar synchronization fails when it finds one. Thus we must get rid of them.
Go into each file dragging each file into text edit and look for EXDATE lines and remove them:

Delete all the EXDATE Lines, and save. I did this by dragging each file to Text Edit and saving after the edit.

speaking candidly, being a "business professional" may I suggest an alternative approach at this point in time.
Personally, I have categorized my material into four sub groupings
(complex)     - Documents with dependencies (business systems designs, modifications, notes best practices)
(active)         - currently being used or modified / pending delivery
(processed)   - rececntly completed (30-60 days)
(inactive)      - 60 days or older
I then looked at what worked best on my mac, ipad, iphone and pc used with the cloud.
Personally, I discovered that my actives and recently completed worked well in the cloud as long as i did not make them to complex in nature (keeping it simple)
I then looked for alternative storages, usb, pocket drives to keep the intergration i desired for complex, processed and inactives.
I also explored other sources to save my information (best practices/ease of use etc)
dropbox, box, alfresco, skydrive, soonr
I discovered a happy hybrid between the cloud and alternative sources.
Now to your question, I do not believe you were off in your expectations and most likely overtime things will be rectified or improved upon.... my personal thoughts are those of (if I am able to introduce information into a document - as long as my formats are compatable my products accross the boad should work successfully)
I would also advise you contact apple support under mountain lion (since it is new and u have 90 days of support as of purchase date) and discuss the issue in greater detail, addressing document size, space utilizations, syncing and the best practices aspects of notes and document integration.
They may have the information to help you suceed in your qwest,.

HT2513 Why do some events sync and others don't?

I have an iMac 27" running OSX 10.6.8 and a latest model iPod Touch which I have syncing with the iMac and is running iOS 6.1.2.
I first noticed that they weren't syncing reliably when I lined up some Apple Store classes.
I DLed the iCal events and double clicked on them. They show up in the desktop iCal but some do and some don't on the iPod Touch.
The same happens with events I create myself. Some Sync and some don't. I did these all in the same session, so can't understand what is the difference.
I have all Callendars checked in the iPod's Calendars app.
I have tried restarting both the desktop and Mac apps and even restarting both devices completely.
The missing events just stubbornly refuse to show up.
Can anyone else think what else to try.
To be frank looking at the whole process of importing events from the Apple Store, down to the adding of my own events and then syncing them is a tedious shambles. Certainly not something that "just works".

Hopefully, your question will get a response soon.

I too am running 10.6.&.
iOS is 6.1.2 (iPhone 4S).
In my case, there are far more events that fail to sync than sync properly. But there is no rhyme or reason to any of it that I can see.

Issue with blackberry sync and contact lists

Hello!
To the bone: I'm having trouble synchronizating my contacts between my blackberry and microsoft oulook 10. The thing is that my contacts are in different lists in my blackberry and when I try to sync them with outlook (BB to outlook) it only synchronizes one list of contacts.
Any suggestions?

Blackberry Sync and MacBook: Where did my data go?

I just used Blackberry Desktop Software to sync my Blackberry with my MacBook for the first time. Everything seemed to proceed properly, with no error message of any kind or anything else to indicate any problem.
But now my Data is off my phone...And I can't find it on the MacBook. I've searched Mail, Entourage, the Hard Drive....
Anybody have any idea where my contacts and memos went?

are you roaming? sometimes data is delayed if you are not on verizon towers
are you sure the mifi was off, do you have kids? maybe they were awake after all..
data used is data used.. vzw just offeres you the ability to connect, what you do with it is up to you

Yosemite calendar syncing and other issues

Hello all,
I am running latest versions of IOS 8 on IPAD Air2, iPhone5S and latest Yosemite on IMAC intel last year model.
There are few issues here....
In Mavericks when I edited an event in calendars it would show up almost immediately on my phone. No more. In Yosemite I would edit an event and it seems like a 50/50 chance it would RETAIN in the Yosemite calendar. And if it does, it does no sync across devices. This is a pain in my ***.
Second issue is when I use the 'shutdown' feature top left corner of OS X, the unit would begin to shut down then the spinning logo would keep spinning and unit would never shut down. The energy saver would take effect. I come from work thinking it was shut down, press the power button on back and the unit 'wakes' and continues with spinning shutdown logo.
Third issue, my iPhone randomly asks for the iCloud password, even though it is enable across all of my three devices.
Other than these issues I love Yosemite and IOS 8, but these are really kicking me from behind.

I have the same problem. Events entered on the macbook are not going to the cloud.

Faux syncing and "other" media

Weird problem that I've had several times. When I connect my ipod to my computer & sync it, everything appears fine on itunes. I can play all recently synced songs from the ipod on my computer even if I disconnect my external hard drive which holds my itunes library. However, under the capacity bar in the Summary tab the "other" classification is full, and once I disconnect the ipod, none of the recently added songs (which showed to be on the ipod in itunes) are there and only the old songs remain. The only way that I've been able to solve the problem is; completely reset the ipod, remove itunes from my computer, and start from scratch. Any thoughts?

So far, I am not very impressed with the latest iOS8 software update for iPhone and iPad. There seems to be a definitive inability to sync data between my Iphone5s and 32G iPad ii. This applies to both Apple and third party apps. For instance, PDFs are not syncing between the two devices within iBooks. Several individuals have commented that photos are not syncing - I am having the same issue. Some third party apps are also unable to sync between devices. MSecure is one of these. I have sent notes to make urge tech support, and have not received a response. In short, there seems to be something very wrong with ios8 Based on the number of comments being posted. I sincerely hope this gets fixed soon as it puts the dependability of iCloud and syncing between multiple devices in jeopardy. For what it's worth, I had no issues with sun functionality prior to the update.

Can't install NI-sync and others on PXI-8101RT

I have PXI-1036DC + PXI-8101RT + PXI-6682 + PXI-6653 + PXI-4462 + PXI-6143. I try to install NI-sync 3.3.5 and Multifunction DAQ & DSA 9.7.0 on 8101RT and obtain the message, that this components requires MIG String 2.3.0.
What is the MIG String and where can I take it?

Hi,
Which version of LabVIEW are you using? I noticed that NI-SYNC 3.3.5 is supported for LabVIEW versions 2009 and above.
Try to navigate to C:\Program Files (x86)\National Instruments\RT Images\NI-DAQmx, open the file nimigString.cdf with a text editor. If the version is 2.2.1 then modify it to 2.3.0.
If you are not able to find the previous file, try to install DAQmx first.

AirPlay Speakers audio syncing and other issues.

For awhile I have been having a lot of issues with AirPlay Speakers (that is, sending the audio from my Apple TV to my AirPort Express while syncing the video). These include:
Almost any app can have the audio go out of sync with the video. This usually can be fixed by pausing and playing again.
WatchABC Live repeating commercials and not going back to the show. (ABC 7 WABC NY on Optimum)
Certainly not the worst issue to have, but Hulu Plus will skip most commercials.
And now, Showtime Anytime is guaranteed to have the audio go out of sync for both live and on demand shows and it will not go back to normal unless I switch to my TVs speakers.
These issues have occurred since I had a 2nd gen Apple TV, and now I have a 3rd gen (Rev. A) with Apple TV version 6.2. The AirPort Express (802.11n 2nd gen) is right next to the Apple TV and connected to my AirPort Extreme via Ethernet, extending the network. I have tried connecting via Ethernet and it only seemed to lessen the issues slightly.

I also own a T400 and had huge issues with skipping audio. Try the following:
1) Uninstall Intel Storage Manager and let Vista use the default driver for disc controller (I presume yours is by default in AHCI mode just as mine was).
2) Then go to Control Panel -> Sound, select Conexant High Definition SmartAudio 221 and after clicking on Options, select Disable all enhancements under Enhancements tab (this is a time-proven trick I learned while using a Dell at work).

Itunes really stinks right now. Keeps freezing on sync, and other issues

It synced earlier, but now i want to sync a tv show and it freezes the instant it gets to starting to sync the movie. It's also freezing up at random other moments. itunes on my other computer earlier started freezing the second my ipod connected to it. don't get it. earlier i synced 10 GB worth of stuff to it from this same computer now it's freezing. wow.

I can not access local pics on my z10 via BlackBerry express and other apps that can share pics.

While sharing or editing or using pics on apps such as BlackBerry express Whatsapp bbm etc,I cannot access local pictures. When I tap on add picture or share picture, the light gets dim for a second so as to open gallery but nothing happens then. My z10 is running on bb 10.2.1.3062

In Disk Utility, you should see an icon in the drive list representing the external drive. Below that is an icon for each volume on the drive. One of those is the Time Machine backup volume. If there are no others, then there is no other data on the drive, at least none that you can get to.

Your users have installed some free, third-party app, and that's what is sending those other applicaton notifications.
In one of the notifications you get, find the developer name and delete the free app from same developer, and you should be good.

Can't Sync IMAP Sent Mail on E72 and other issues!

Has anybody any idea why Nokia felt it a good idea to release a phone with a mail client, that supports IMAP, but DOESN'T sync your sent mail? It is such a ridiculous omition that I am lost for words. I actually recommended the E71 to our IT department a few years ago but the mail client was so poor, we ended up getting 15 phones and 15 Profimail licences. The IT department have asked me to recommend the next phone as the E71 was a big hit and I asked them to get me this E72 to test. It is with great reluctance that I am going to try the iphone instead and recommend that as I believe the mail client on it is very good and the E72's is totally hopeless unless you go through the Nokia Messaging server, which obviously a corporate isn't going too. Before I knee jerk though, has anyone else had this issue and found a way around it?
Also, the predictive text is shocking now, the web browser is so buggy and closes without warning due to memory issues all the time.
Oh, the optical control pad is dreadful and totally useless and the select key also doesn't work in off-line mode, so the E72 is useless on a plane.
Nice to see that Nokia took the very good E71, played with it, broke it, made it far worse and buggy, stuck a new case on then released it as the E72. I remember the days that a Nokia phone worked from the minute you bought it, but now with firmware updates Nokia feel they can release half baked phones by the dozen, monthly. Pathetic.
Oh, and this is the latest firmware, too!
And one other thing, OVI Suite, PC Suite and the umpteen other applications that all do useful things....can Nokia not just release one main PC support app that works and has ALL the features under one roof? I have to installed them all on my PC as well as loads of other sync and office apps on the phone (like OVI Files) just to do the obvious things that you use a modern smartphone for.
Nokia, there is a very obvious reason why you are losing market share at the moment, and it isn't because people trust Google or like DRM and fruit pictures on their phones. Get a grip will you?
If anyone can help primarily with the Sent Mail sync issue in Nokia Email (without suggesting I route all my mail through Nokia's unreliable servers and divulge all my passwords), I would be very Grateful Indeed.

I had a number of problems setting up Google Apps with my phone. Mail, Calendar and Tasks were not syncing.

Ok here is the solution to your sent mails problem. I have spent far too long setting up google apps to sync properly with my new E72 (latest software installed). It really is a superb phone but if Nokia is not going to fully support integration with Google Apps with a simple app then Android and Blackberry will simply take over for Apps users. It really isn't up to Google to solve this its up to Nokia. Are you going to move from Google Apps or change your phone????
I have gmail and business google apps accounts and both are now syncing properly with what seems to be pretty good Nokia email software on the phone. This is allowing me to receive, send, view attachments, view sent mail etc. Here are the steps I took from the beginning.
1. Enable IMAP for the google accounts. Couldn't get anything to work otherwise.
2. Follow this instruction https://mail.google.com/support/bin/answer.py?answer=78887
3. Your inbox should now be working however you now need to map the folders you want to see on your mobile. While at your inbox go to >settings>mailbox settings>what to sync>folder subscriptions.
4. Click on Gmail and highlight the folders you want to see
5. Go back to your inbox and go to the dragdown list of folders and highlight 'More Folders'. Under 'Gmail' you will find your sent items along with attachments etc. Problem solved. Its not a pretty solution but at this stage like me you just want something that works.
Calendar
This was a nightmare and I am now running a third party app called Googasync which is working fine. In 10 days time I will need to buy this so if someone knows how to setup calendar syncing properly without it please let me know.
Tasks
Googasync will not sync Tasks and I don't know if there is any app out there that will. If someone can help please let me know. Surely this should be pretty simple!?!?!
By the way I mailed Nokia support last Thursday on the above but have not received a reply.
In summary its a great phone and I've moved from a Blackerry Bold to it but I shouldn't be spending days finding workarounds!!

I'm sorry to read that you are having issues with your Sync account.
Your best bet is to follow the steps described in this blogposts and open a bug:

After that, if you don't want to user Sync in your computer, you can stop it with this simple steps:
* At the top of the Firefox window, click on the Firefox button (Tools menu in Windows XP) and then click Options.
* Once the options window opens, click on the Sync tab.
* At the bottom of the Sync tab click on '''Deactivate this Device''' link

BB desktop software uses syncservices which is no longer in Mavericks.
BB Link should work but not on your phone.
