EXE Playback Exhibits Blank Screens

Adobe:
Some users report blank screens appearing when running
published EXE file generated by Captivate. When a user experiences
this problem, he is able to reproduce it consistently at exactly
the same place. If the user does nothing, when the blank screen
appears, the user continues to hear audio until the end of the
playback. One workaround to this problem we have found is for the
user to simply click the fast forward button briefly at the moment
the blank screen appears: video returns and playback continues
normally. Though this problem is consistently reproducible by
specific users, it does not occur for all users: some users are
able to playback the EXE file from start to finish without issue. I
have searched through all the forums, but have not found something
specific to this problem - perhaps I've missed it. Can someone
assist us? Thanks you.

Hi StephanABren, and to you too geekygURL
Stepahn, I concur with geekygURL re the question on the LMS
as this could have an impact. Something else to look at would be
what version of Flash you are publishing to and the reason is that
if you are publishing to Flash9 and some of your users are still
running Flash7, then you could potentially have problems. Lastly,
if you do not have a PreLoader active, then I would suggest that
you do this as it "holds back" on play until a set % of the file
has loaded. PreLoaders can be setup from:
Edit / Preferences / Start and End node - select the Loading
Screen option on the right

  • Windows Server 2008 Standard 32-bit gives Rundll32.exe error and blank screen on bootup

Last week our file server installed automatic updates and then requested a reboot.  After rebooting it repeatedly gave a blue screen and rebooted.  After 5 hours on the phone with Microsoft support we all gave up on it with no solution.  Later
we were able to get the machine to boot using an old mirrored hard drive of the system drive.  We can now access our data drive, however after login we get this error:
Rundll32.exe : Windows cannot access the specified device, path, or file. You may not have the appropriate permission to access the
    item.
and the console just shows a blank screen.  We are not able to do anything on the server.  I can Ctrl-Alt-Del and bring up Task
Manager and I see that SQL Server is not running, so not all services are running normally.
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks

    Hi,
Based on my research, this issue occurs because the Rundll32.exe file is corrupted. You need to extract a new copy of Rundll32.exe in C:\Windows\System32.
To do this, you can either copy it from another same version of Windows or perform an In-Place Upgrade.
How to Perform an In-Place Upgrade on Windows Vista, Windows 7, Windows
    Server 2008 & Windows Server 2008 R2

  • Create EXE projector makes Blank Screen

    Hi all,
I am having a perplexing problem. If I open a SWF in Flash Player (v. 10.2 r153) it opens up just fine. I then go to File >> Create Projector.
This creates a duplicate of the Flash Player (same size) but when it opens, it is blank. The content is not embedded as I would expect, but rather just creates a duplicate of the player.
In other words, rather than packaging the SWF inside the player, as it is supposed to do, it leaves an open blank screen. If I drag the SWF into this, it plays - but that's not what its supposed to do!
FYI, the SWF was created by a vendor through inDesign's Export >> SWF, but the client is requesting an EXE. Short of having to open the SWF in Flash and redo all the links between content, I am stuck as to what else can be done.
    Can anyone help?
    Thanks in advance

Is that also in InDesign?  If so, better ask in the InDesign forum.

  • I looked up the blank screen issue with itunes on my windows PC, and followed the directions with the autorun.exe and all that but my comp has Bonjour (which is by apple) so now how do I fix Itunes?  Thanks

    Hi,
I'm getting the blank screen in my itunes store.  I followed the help script here Can't connect to the iTunes Store - Apple Support and downloaded the autoruns, exe but it just shows my comp has Bonjour (which is apple).  But now what?  How do I fix the blank screen?
    Thanks!

    Hello there, livviboobear.
It sounds like your error message is in regards to having installed an older version of iTunes on your computer. The following Knowledge Base article offers up the step-by-step on how to properly uninstall iTunes:

  • HELP with Satellite Series - P305-S8837; displaying blank screen with cursor

Help! I have a the P305-S8837 laptop in the Toshiba Satellite Series. I have had the laptop for several months now and it's been working fine until now. I was using it this morning (on the internet) and it started freezing up and so I hit Crtl + Alt + delete and selected the option to restart. It restarted and asked which mode I wanted to start it up in (safe mode, safe mode w/networking, etc.) and I selected the normal option. It started out fine - little windows logo came on with the sound and then went into the Welcome Windows Home Vista premium page (that's like bluish greenish) and then afterwards the screen just goes blank with the exception of the mouse cursor. I let it sit for about an hour and there was no change. I have tried pressing the Crtl + Alt + delete and that has had NO affect. So i manually turned it off and then back on using the power button and tried starting it up in Safe mode w/networking and then just safe mode - both are able to get to the welcome screen but after that it's just a blank screen with cursor and it says safe mode and stuff on the border. Crtl + Alt + delete does not work in the safe mode w/networking but in just the regular safe mode it will go to that same screen that is the welcome and ask if I want to lock the computer, change users, start task manager or restart / shut down. I have selected the restart option and nothing happens and then the Crtl + Alt + delete option no longer works. I have tried manually starting the laptop with the battery unattached and just using the AC Adapter and that has had no impact. I have tried just using the laptop's battery only with no AC Adapter and that has had no impact.
As you can see, I am in desperate need of some assistance! Please tell me what to do!
    Thanks

Turn the computer on and immediately press and hold the F8 key.
On the Advanced Boot Options menu, choose Repair Your Computer.
When you reach the System Recovery Options menu, choose Startup Repair.
If that doesn't do the trick, go back to the System Recovery Options menu and do a System Restore.
If that doesn't fix things either, go back to the System Recovery Options menu, choose Command Prompt, and follow the directions here

  • Blank Screen with cursor after login Windows 7, Unable to start new tasks

My problem is similar to the well know Windows 7 Black Screen as referenced by Prevx, though different. When I boot my Windows 7 computer, the login screen appears as always. Following entering the password for default user,
the screen will give the impression of login, but the final result is a plain black screen with the cursor only. The black screen appears indefinitely and the Windows GUI never appears. The only available option from booting in normal mode with this is Ctrl-Alt-Del
(Task Manager). From analyzing another computer with Windows 7 Professional, my Task Manager is missing the following user processes: dwm.exe, explorer.exe, and taskhost.exe. Additionally, it is missing the following system processes (possibly irrelevant):
    spoolsv.exe and wmiprvse.exe.
When I attempt to start a new process using Windows Task Manager, an error message will appear saying “Windows Task Manager has stopped working” and forces you to close Windows Task Manager. This includes starting
any process such as cmd or explorer.
I attempted to boot into safe mode.
The result was the same as above. Then I attempted booting into safe mode with command prompt. This showed some hope. Following authentification from the login screen, the command prompt appears with the same blank screen with a cursor behind it. Initially
I attempted to run msconfig.msc to run a clean startup. System Configuration Utilities opens briefly then displays the error same as above. “System Configuration Utility has stopped working” and again forces the program to close. Then I tried to
open regedit. This works with no error messages! So I have access to the registry, but have no idea what I should modify to get my computer running normally.
    Things I have tried:
    1)
Restoring to last know good configuration. (No result)
    2)
    Repairing Windows configuration. (No result)
    3)
Scanning the drive 3 separate times for viruses with both Avast and Symantec. (No viruses detected)
    4)
Repairing the REG_SZ value HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon\Shell as proposed in
    http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en/w7itprogeneral/thread/5b94b775-992e-4f48-b3ff-c89b3cf45e82
    5)
Executing Prevx’s fix file as proposed in
    http://www.prevx.com/blog/140/Black-Screen-woes-could-affect-millions-on-Windows--Vista-and-XP.html
    Any ideas are much appreciated.
    Thanks,

  • Blank screen with cursor after logging in

After upgrading to Windows 8.1 from windows 8 (which took much much longer than a clean installation),on being prompted to log in, all I see is a blank screen (the cursor works though) after logging in. Upon doing a lot of googling, I am utterly confused
about the issue and its possible solutions. Can you give me a definite solution to this? The task manager opens via alt+ctrl+del, explorer.exe is not running and that sums up everything I can do with my swanky new Windows 8.1. The following are my
    laptop specs
    Dell Inspiron 17R 7720 SE
    Intel i5
    nVIDIA GT 650m 2 gigs
Its getting really frustrating, and I am thinking of reverting to 7 once again.

    Hi
Please create dump files for better understanding what exactly happen here. Also check your event viewer.
Maybe some 3rd party application caused this issue, I suggest perform clean boot as well to eliminate 3rd party SW issue

  • Blank Screen after sign in - any ideas?

A few days ago my IQ515 was running slow so I shut everything down and pressed restart. After 2 hours computer still hanging so pressed power off button. Next day went to boot up and got error "Computer did not close down properly etc etc". Went to start in normal mode and all OK with windows logo and then sign in screen. However about 5 seconds after sign in screen goes blank. Mouse still shows and touch screen appears to work but screen completely blank. After while get error message on screen saying "HP touchsmart calendar and notes has stopped working". Rest of screen blank.
Have tried to sign in using all safe modes but still get blank screen but this time with line at top of screen saying "Microsoft (R) windows (R) (Build 6001 - service pack 1)" also words "safe mode" in all four corners. But still no workable screen.
Have tried using F10, then F5 then F10 but screen still blank. Tried F8 to log in but same story.
Computer just out of Warranty so any help appreciated.

    Hi,
Try the following and let me know.
Boot the computer normally and log-in.
At the black screen, hold down the ctrl and alt keys and press delete.
    Select Task Manager.
In the bottom left select More Details ( if it's not already selected ).
Click in the Name column header to arrange the processes in alphabetical order.
Look for an entry called Run Once Wrapper (RunOnce.exe) - if you see it listed, right click on it and select End Task.
    Does the Desktop now show?

  • Satellite M50 - Blank screen after login on Win 8.1

    Satellite M50 running Win 8.1
After login, get blank screen mouse but nothing else.
Can run Explorer.exe manually via Task manager to get going but some apps such as Acrobat and Windows Mail don't work.
I've searched online and tried all sorts of the suggested fixes to no avail.
    Any suggestions gratefully received!

I don't know what is wrong there but you can try to shut down Win8 completely and check repair options. Try with system restore and roll back OS few days back. Maybe this will help.

  • No Display, just blank screen in itunes store ver. 10.7

    Hi All,
so when i log into itunes Store i get a blank screen in the middle.  the side bar shows, but the middle is blank and the little tool bar with home, music, appstore etc also not there.
i am using windows 7 and upgraded to latest itunes 10.7
it worked for a few days as normal but now im seeing this problem.  it seems the itunes store has loaded propoerly bcuz even though i cant see the middle i can still hover and randomly click links and it goes to the page but again only displays partially seems most of the pictures are not displaying.
ive investigated this problem here in support and it seems its been a problem for a couple years,  i ve have tried the following fixes with no success, if anyone has any other options let me know please
    1) reset cache through advanced preferences
    2) netsh winsock reset
    3) check LSP through autoruns.exe for any conflicts.  seems only bonjour and windows live ID namespace provider are in the wiinsock, so don tthink there is any conflict here
    4) completley uninstalled itunes (1) iTunes; (2) QuickTime; (3) Apple Software Update; (4) Apple Mobile Device Support; (5) Bonjour; and (6) Apple Application Support." and reinstalled again
    5) log off and log on windows (someone said it worked for them so i gave it a try since its so simple, but no fix)
    6) deleted itunesprefs.xml
    7) checked that bonjour services in windows firewall were checked in both public and local networks
anyone got any other ideas ? besides giving up on itunes... thanks

Actually i thought i reset my cache but i didn't.  i just did it and it worked
Edit > Preferences > Advanced > reset cache
    restart itunes

  • Blank Screens - Java

I recently installed a solution manager 4. It starts with no errors (everything green in SAP MMC).
I was following the guide "Configuring of Maintenance Optimizer" so I can be able to download Support Packages of SAP ERP.
But I noticed that I have a lot of blank screen, that I think it's something about java.
I'm telling this because in rz10 when I triend to activate the instace profile I received erros inthe following parameters:
    Parameter:  jstartup/instance_properties
    Value:  $(jstartup/j2ee_properties);$(jstartup/sdm_properties)
    Error:  jstartup/instance_properties file S:\usr\sap\SMS\DVEBMGS00\j2ee\cluster\instance
    Parameter:  exe/j2ee
    Value:  $(DIR_EXECUTABLE)\jcontrol$(FT_EXE)
Error:  exe/j2ee file S:\usr\sap\SMS\DVEBMGS00\exe\jcontrol.EXE does not exist
In this error I already checked and I have this file in that location.
I hope you can help me.

  • Overlay shows blank screen on 6800GT?

I have never been successful with overlays. I'm using ForceWare 84.12 on GF 6800GT. Using Media Player Classic to playback any kind of video files. If I set to playback with Overlay, I will get only blank screen on the single monitor I have. Every other playback mode works fine - system default, VMR7, VMR9 etc, except Overlay where I got nothing. There is no complain or error message popup for selecting Overlay though. But I just don't know how to get my video playback appear on Overlay settings.
    Any help?

Video overlay has nothing to do with codec. It's a technique graphics card use to organize full-motion video content into a frame buffer, then feed it to GPU's RAMDAC, and to send it to the computer screen. The good about video overlay is it doesn't require CPU processing power (if graphics card support it). If this frame buffer is being fetched by VMR (DirectX), then certain processing power will be needed.
NVidia cards surely support it. But somehow it doesn't really work out what I wanted it to be on my system.
Driver could be a big suspect, but I am using a full WHQL compliant ForceWare driver.
Or it could be something very wrong with my OS

  • Blank screen & no booting after running BIOS update on Satellite A200-1AE

Here is my problem with my A200-1AE (PSAECE) Notebook:
I downloaded the latest BIOS update from the Toshiba download drivers library to install Win XP since finally the drivers are realized. (Note the update clearly stated to run ONLY if you want to install XP on you NB).
So I unzipped the file and after hitting the .exe file it started updating the BIOS on its own without me giving the liberty to do so. Half way the N/B froze for about 20 minutes and as I didnt know what else to do so I reset it.
Result? The NB does NOT boot. I press the power button, the Hard Drive icon flashes 2-3 times as well as the DVD drive, I get a blank screen and the power cord & power button icons constantly on. I removed the battery and the power cord for 48 hours hoping it will reset the BIOS on its own to no avail.
The BIOS battery is under the touchpad which means I have to disassemble the whole laptop and I am not ready to do so. I dont know if on the motherboard there are BIOS reset jumpers and I need someones help as to what I should do. I am starting to think that things where MUCH easier back to when I just had a desktop PC.
THERE must be something I can do other that taking it to the service center and pay half the value of the laptop in repairs.... PLS HELP Im desperate....

    Hi there,
first of all: a notebook is not a desktop and such mobile computer does not have jumpers like a deskop computer. They surely have something to delete the BIOS but I am not so sure IF resetting the BIOS could help you.
I guess you will have to send your machine to a service center for repair because in such cases you will have no other option. Do you have still warranty on this machine?

  • Windows 2012 R2 Active Directory Server Blank Screen

I have a Windows 2003 Domain, I added a Server 2012 R2 to the domain. The 2012 R2 server is a hyper-v virtual machine.  When promoting the server to a domain controller it hung on the process and I had to reboot the server.  When
I log into the server now with the same account I was using when I promoted the server I get a black screen. When I hit the (ctrl-alt-del) button on the hyper-v console screen I see several option such as task manager but clicking on it doesn't bring
up anything.  I can also sign out.  If I log in using another admin account I have no issues.  If I view the application log I see a 4006 Event Id:
The Windows logon process has failed to span a user application.  .... C:\Windows\system32\userinit.exe.
If I boot in safemode I am able to logon with with problem account and see the normal safe mode screen.  Also, BTW the DC promotion process completed without issues.
    Thanks,

So here's the situation.  The domain was windows 2000, I raised the functional level to 2003 in preparation for adding windows 2012 R2 Domain controllers.  I created a hyper-v VM and promoted it to a domain controller. As I mentioned when I logged
on with the account I used to promote the the Windows 2012 R2 server to a domain controller I got a black screen. It is not a core server shell. The only thing I can do is hit the ctrl-alt-del button in the console window and sign out, switch user if I click
    on task manger nothing happens.
I added a second w2k12 R2 server as domain controller and had the same issue.  I tried logging in with my own account as I am an enterprise admin but I got a blank screen also. The only account I can get the GUI on is the original Administrator account
"Administrator".  After comparing properties on that account to two other domain admin accounts I realized the Administrator account has a Delegation tab the other accounts don't.  I've been using them without issues to administer the domain
and log onto the W2k3 domain controllers. But I can only assume it is related to the account properties on these accounts.
I tried creating two other domain admin account from one of the 2012 AD servers but same issue. One account was a copy of the Administrator account and the  other I created from scratch and added it to the relevant groups.
I have seen something about registering the spn for these accounts which I haven't tired yet. It seems I am missing steps when creating domain administrators.
Some had suggested I had done a minimal install but I have IE so I don't think this is the case.
