.exec environment windows xp?

I try to start a process with a specified environment.
in Windows 2000, in Linux Suse10.0 it runs, in Windows XP the process don't have the environment? Why??? (jre1.5.0_09)
Have anyone problems with this, too???

Since other people can use Runtime.exec() on Windows XP without problems I suspect it is a problem with your code. To be able to diagnose the problem we need to see it.

  • Mapping Yamaha DTXplorer in logic pro - Environment window clicks and Ports

    The midi signals for Yamaha DTXplorer are off from GM. The snare (G0) and bass drum (A0) output notes do not trigger snare (D1) and bass drum (C1).
    I am a novice to both MAC and Logic Pro.
    I have the midi out of the drumset going USB right into my MAC.
    I've gotten as far as...
    1. Environment window>clicks and Ports
    2. Verifying the channels that DTX triggers for snare and bass drum.
    3. Changing the output notes to D1 & C1.
    Nothing changes with the sound.
    In fact, I can change the output notes for drums that are set up correctly and they don't change either.
    None of the alterations I do in the Environment window seem to do anything to the midi signals!
    Do I need to activate or save the changes? If so, how (precisely)?
    Thanks in advance.

    You can do that from within the app, under menu Logic Pro X;

    1) You don't want to create an external MIDI - that would be for logic to play an external device. You want a software instrument.
    B) It sounds as if you have created a 'mapped instrument' in the environment. Maybe you are using a template that has one built in. I can't help you with that because it crashes Logic for me when I use that.
    So I do it like this:
    Very straightforward to set up. The thing called "Alesis mapping" is a transformer, which is open. If you click initialize at the bottom you get a 1 to 1 ramp (notice that the 3rd button in the second row is set to "use map"). The numbers in the bottom right correspond to note numbers in this case. 0-127 (C-2 is 0, C#-2 is 1, etc.). I forgot to put it on one where you could see the number differences, but you can see it in the graphic map. In my case I needed to reassign 4 notes. So if the number in the bottom right says 25, the number in the next box says 56. You can see that as the column spike. Now when I grab the choke on the cymbal it sends out note #25, which this transformer turns into note #56. The hardest part of my method is converting note names (D2) into the proper number (0-127) that is what the monitor is there for - confirmation.
    Under status where it has an = and then "note" is there so you don't accidentally remapped the hi-hat CC# (probably CC4). My kit sends a note for cymbal choke, but yours may send an aftertouch message, which will pass through unaltered.
    Save this as a template.

  • Naive about the Environment Window

    Hi,
    I use a Korg synthesizer as a MIDI controller through the MIDI-IN of my Presonus Firebox. The keyboard is automatically detected whenever I open Logic, and so I'm able to play all the software instruments. However, I know nothing about LE's Environment Window and I wonder if I'm missing something. Can someone tell me if I'll gain anything in terms of enhanced functionality, etc. by some sort of manipulations within the Environment Window? For example, I was somewhere something about being able to create an arpegiator there.
    Thanks.

    Hi.
    The Environment is the single most powerful yet misunderstood features of logic.
    The manual dedicates an entire chapter on the environment.I suggest you read that,to start.
    To give you two examples of what can happen in the Environment:
    You can hook up different objects to control ANY device that receives MIDI.this includes synths,effect boxes,coffee makers,garage doors,etc...
    Also,you can make MIDI information be transmogrified and changificated into OTHER MIDI data,so if you desire to control a rocket launch with a c3 key,then so be it.
    It really is very very deep...but also very rewarding once you get the concepts behind it.
    The Logic Environment is to MIDI like Calculus is to Math.
    Cheers

  • System exec cmd window

    Hello, first time posting a question!
    I have spent a good while trying to find an already posted answer to this, and looking on the wider web, hope i have not just missed it.
    I am using XP Pro SP3, LV 8.6.
    I am not very familiar with Windows command lines and structures etc.
    I am using the System Exec VI to start a third party piece of software. I have wired the path in to the path input, and if i wire cmd /c start xxx to the command line terminal the VI will run and start the software application (xxx.exe). As the VI executes the cmd window clunks open and closed. If i run the VI without the cmd /c part of the command then an Error 2 is returned (as widely reported by others).
    Is it possible to open an application without the cmd window opening and closing?
    Using the System Exec VI it is possible to open NotePad just by wiring 'NotePad' to the comand line terminal. Is it possible to place the third party software somewhere, or register it with the OS somehow so it could be started in the same way as NotePad (i.e. without the cmd window flashing up)?
    Thanks...

    Hi Thoric, thanks for the suggestions, Success!
    I tried the True boolean to the Run Minimized, but it did not help.
    Changing the Environment Path string to include the path to the directory containing the application did work (once i had worked out the syntax).
    On to the next problem....

  • Can not see all my tracks in environment window

    Hello everyone,
    i just got a 32 inch lcd screen from a friend and i can not figure out how to see all my tracks?
    is there a way to resize the tracks in the enviornment window?
    It would be great to be able to see the top tear of my tracks in full as well as the bottom tear of tracks,this screen is certainly large enough.
    lol

    How much stuff you can fit on the monitor depends on the resolution of the monitor, not the size.
    In the inspector you can uncheck some boxes of what is displayed.  In the environment it is object specific, not global like in the mixer - so you have to select the channels that you want to hide certain parameters, and each one can be different.

  • Hyperion 11.1.3 supported environment - Windows 2003 64-bit

    We are planning our migration from Windows 2003 SP1 32 bit with Hyperion 9.3.1 to Windows 2003 64bit (and whatever SP is supported) with Hyperion 11.1.3
    In reviewing the oracle support doc I came across exceptions for using Windows 64 bit with 11
    1. NOT SUPPORTED FOR: Data Integration Management, Production Reporting Teradata Engine.
    2. EXCEPTION: Data Relationship Management and FDM do not support Oracle Access Manager, Oracle Application Server Single Sign-On, and Oracle Identity Manager.
    3. 32-BIT BINARIES ONLY FOR: Data Relationship Management, EPM Workspace Services, FDM, Financial Reporting Services, Interactive Reporting Services, Shared Services (embedded Native Directory OpenLDAP service), Smart Search, and Strategic Finance.
    4. FDM and Strategic Finance cannot be deployed on the same computer where Financial Management (64-bit) and Performance Management Architect (64-bit) are deployed.
    I am more concerned with #3. Does this mean that those services cannot run on the 64bit machine OR that they can run on 64bit but in 32bit mode only
    JTS

    Hi,
    It means they are only 32bit binaries but they do work on a 64bit environment.

    Bitmap bitmap = new Bitmap(600, 500);
    Graphics graphics = Graphics.FromImage(bitmap as System.Drawing.Image);  // The application hangs at this pt

  • Problems with Runtime.getRuntime().exec in Windows 2000

    Hello,
    I have a batch file that I want to run from my java application. My code is the following:
    try {
            Runtime.getRuntime().exec("cmd.exe /c C:\\temp\\shortcut.bat");
    } catch (Exception e) {
         System.out.println(e.getMessage());
    }I was developing on windows XP and it worked just fine. But then I tested it on windows 2000 and it didn't work. The batch file is okay, because if I run the batch file myself it works just fine, even from the command line. I get no errors what so ever, it just doesn't do anything...
    Can somebody help me with this?
    thx in advance

    thank you all so much
    I figured it out... It was a combination of two things that went wrong.
    First one: in my batch file I had:
    cd C:\tempwhich worsk fine in XP, but in it doesn't in 2000. In 2000 it has to be:
    C:
    cd \temp But just changing that wasn't enough, I also needed the "start"
    Now it works just fine on 2000, hopefully it'll still work on xp as well.
    THX!

  • Arrange & Environment Window not linking correctly?!

    hi there,
    I just converted from Logic 7 and noticed that my environment is not following 'jumping' to the object I select in the arrange window? I do have the 'same level link' button switch on and it worked perfectly in Logic 7. Since I do have a big environment layer with instruments/ tracks in different rows (specially setup for my needs) and only a selection can be seen at one moment, I have to manually look in the environment where the object is located. is it a bug? or do I miss here something.
    I just hope anyone has an idea how I can solve it. Many thanks in advance.

  • What is your favourite Desktop Environment/Window Manager and why?

    I'm using Openbox because it's lightweight and sleek looking. I don't actually need the lightweight-ness since my laptop has very good specs, but I love the speed and the simplicity.

  • Runtime.exec error in windows

    When i try to run an external program with Runtime.exec() in windows 2000, i get a windows pop-up with the following error msg:
    d:\winnt\system32\ntvdm.exe
    Error while setting up environment for the application.
    I have no idea how to fix this since i have no clue to what that error means.
    Thanks
    Rumy

    I've personally just encountered the same error. I am building a piece of demonstration software to distribute with my graduate school applications to demonstrate my programming experience and I wish to include a set of programs I wrote some years ago in Pascal and C++. The software has been compiled for MS-DOS 6.0. I am using the following command to execute the software from within my Java program:
    Runtime.getRuntime().exec(new String[]{"command.com","/c","12cards.bat"});The batch file performs the appropriate setup operations for the program and runs the executable. When I run this code segment, I receive the following error:
    [16 bit MS-DOS Subsystem]
    C:\WINNT\system32\ntvdm.exe
    Error while setting up environment for the application. Choose 'Close' to terminate the application.
    I have another code segment in which I attempt to run the executable myself (without the help of command.com or the batch file). The code segment is as follows:
    Runtime.getRuntime().exec(new String[]{"12cards.exe"}, new String[0], workingDir);When I run this code segment, the following IOException is thrown:
    java.io.IOException: CreateProcess: 12CARDS.EXE error=2
         at java.lang.Win32Process.create(Native Method)
         at java.lang.Win32Process.<init>(Win32Process.java:66)
         at java.lang.Runtime.execInternal(Native Method)
         at java.lang.Runtime.exec(Runtime.java:566)
         at (my code)I have already found the document on Microsoft's support website which describes a solution to this problem. Manually extracting the autoexec.nt, config.nt, and command.com files from the installation CD-ROM did not help.
    The most confusing element of this: 12CARDS.EXE runs fine if I execute it from Windows Explorer. It's only a problem if it's executed from within my Java program. I have two other DOS programs which I want to include as well; I am having the same trouble with them.
    Any advice will be much appreciated. Thanks!

  • Trouble Setting Windows Environment Variables

    My environment:
    Windows XP Professional
    Intellij 6.0.4
    JDK 1.4.
    I am seeing some very weird behavior when I try to get/set Environment Variables in Windows XP. I use the following code to read the variables:
    Process p = r.exec( "cmd.exe /c set" ); I create an environment varialbe through the Windows control panel, and it does not show up when I execute the above command. However, when I close my IDE and reopen it and run the same code, the variable appears. How is this possible? I am using the Windows XP cmd.exe in my program to read the variables. When I open a DOS window and type the same command, my variable is there.
    This is driving me crazy.
    i want my program to do some work, but then check a system variable to see if it should continue. I want a user to be able to stop processing by setting the environmen variable to true.
    Thanks!
    Nathan

    Runtime.exec has a lot of overloadings. Two of them
    allows you to specify the environment variables.
    exec
    public Process exec(String[] cmdarray,
    String[] envp,
    File dir)
    throws IOExceptionExecutes the specified command and
    arguments in a separate process with the specified
    environment and working directory.
    cmdarray - array containing the command to call and
    its arguments.
    envp - array of strings, each element of which has
    environment variable settings in format name=value.
    dir - the working directory of the subprocess, or null
    if the subprocess should inherit the working directory
    of the current process.
    I had this sample program:
    public class SetVarExample {
    public static void main (String[] args) throws Exception {
         String[] cmd_env= new String[] {"password="+"ABCD","Path=C:\\Sun\\AppServer\\jdk\\bin"};
         String cmd = "cmd /c SET ";
         Runtime.getRuntime().exec(cmd,cmd_env);
    System.out.println( "Finish ...." );
    I tried it in a command prompt. But looks like when the program exits, it's a whole new process and so it does not retain the env variables set in the java program.
    Any suggestions? Am I doing it worng?
    thanks
