Exec fscommand doesn't work ?!
Hi !
By pressing a button in my flash project I have to launch
another application. The .exe file is located in a different
directory, called Vademekum, on the same CD. I somehow cannot find
the right combination for this to happen. Can anybody help. I used
the script below:
on (release) {
fscommand("exec", "Vademekum.exe");
Instead of Vademekum.exe in the second quote I also used
these combinations:
Vademekum/Vademekum.exe
../Vademekum/Vademekum.exe
..\\Vademekum\\Vademekum.exe
..\Vademekum\Vademekum.exe
What am I doing wrong. Thanks in advance. B
fscommand functionality in CS3 has been a problem for quite
some time, yet there isn't much on the forums about it. Here is a
link to another thread that might be interesting:
http://www.adobe.com/cfusion/webforums/forum/messageview.cfm?forumid=15&catid=194&threadid =1264958&highlight_key=y&keyword1=fscommand
I haven't tried the fix at the bottom, but it explains what
happens when CS3 Flash tries to execute fscommand.

I have two pograms.
One GUI which allow us directly runs server application and display output.
Two server application which operates with http.
Under Windows XP operation system everything works fine. If i run server application via comand like " java -jar **** " , everything works fine. But if i run server application via GUI under Win2000, server application doesn't work. Application freeze if try to get output stream from Url connection.
Can you help me please?
url = new URL("http://neco");
connection = (HttpURLConnection)url.openConnection();
connection.setRequestMethod("POST");
connection.setDoInput(true);
connection.setDoOutput(true);
connection.setAllowUserInteraction(true);
connection.setReadTimeout(10);
connection.setUseCaches(false);
// Right There !!!
output = new DataOutputStream(connection.getOutputStream());It is probably because the getOutputStream() or getErrorStream() of Process is blocked waiting for you to read from those streams.
See http://www.javaworld.com/javaworld/jw-12-2000/jw-1229-traps.htmlIn short read from getOutputStream() from its own thread and also read from getErrorStream in another thread. If you are using 1.5 you can use ProcessBuilder and combine the OutputStream and ErrorStream into one stream and then you just need one thread. For you information, in 1.5 Runtime.exec() just call through to ProcessBuilder. -
The Runtime.exec methods doesn't work well on Solaris ???
I have two threads and I set the different running time.
I use Runtime.exec to a run the command and use Process to get the process.
It works properly in the windows2000 platform.
However, when I transfer the platform to Solaris...and run the program...
Two threads always at the same time....It is very wired....I always debug
for 2 days....
(at first I run "vmstat 1 2" command, later I change to "ls","rmdir"....etc,
all of them don't work.....
If I close the Runtime.exec..........Everything works well......)
And I study the API. I found this message...
The Runtime.exec methods may not work well for special processes on certain
native platforms, such as native windowing processes, daemon processes,
Win16/DOS processes on Win32, or shell scripts. The created subprocess does
not have its own terminal or console.
Could someone share her/his experience.....:(
And if any other way I can run command inside java code instead of
Runtime.exec.....???
Please reply my mail to [email protected] I do appreciate your kindly &
great help!!!!!!!!

Why Runtime.exec() hangs
The JDK's Javadoc documentation provides the answer to this question:
Because some native platforms only provide limited buffer size for standard input and output streams, failure to promptly write the input stream or read the output stream of the subprocess may cause the subprocess to block, and even deadlock.
Try out something like this:
String s;
try {
Process myProcess =
Runtime.getRuntime().exec("ls -l"));
DataInputStream in = new DataInputStream(
new BufferedInputStream(myProcess.getInputStream()));
while ((s = in.readLine()) != null) {
out.println(s);
catch (IOException e) {
out.println("Error: " + e);
}Another source of trouble under Unix is not having the correct permission for that user that executes the Java VM, which will be the permissions for the spawned subprocess. But this probably not the case, as you see something after exit.

TRY ... CATCH doesn't work with EXEC SQL?
When I created a native SQL statement, I knew before, that it would take a few tries to get it working. I decided to use exception classes to avoid short dumps, but it didn't work.
Following code causes a short dump because of the dot after :xp_stras in the native SQL SELECT statement:
try.
EXEC SQL PERFORMING list.
SELECT LIFNR, NAME1, STRAS
INTO :xsl
FROM LFA1
WHERE UPPER( NAME1 ) LIKE :xp_name1
AND UPPER( STRAS ) LIKE :xp_stras.
ENDEXEC.
catch CX_SY_NATIVE_SQL_ERROR.
write: /1 'CX_SY_NATIVE_SQL_ERROR'.
catch CX_SY_SQL_ERROR.
write: /1 'CX_SY_SQL_ERROR'.
catch CX_DYNAMIC_CHECK.
write: /1 'CX_DYNAMIC_CHECK'.
catch CX_ROOT.
write: /1 'CX_SY_ROOT'.
endtry.
In ST22 you can see
Name of runtime error: DBIF_DSQL2_SQL_ERROR
Exception:
The name of the exception is empty, in other short dumps you can find there the name of the exception class. Maybe that's the reason for CATCH does'nt work, but I don't understand it.
Online help for EXEC SQL says:
Catchable Exceptions
CXSY_NATIVE_SQL_ERROR_
Cause: SQL-Error at the execution of a Native SQL-command.
Runtime Error: DBIF_DSQL2_SQL_ERROR
We have SAP ECC 6.0 with SAP_BASIS rel. 700 lvl. 0013.
If You have an idea why CATCH doesn't work, please tell me!
Regards,
KlausHi Rob,
I tried out Your original code as program ZTEST5 and got a short dump (sorry, some of the short dump symbols are formatting this post in a wrong way ...):
Short text
An SQL error occurred when executing Native SQL.
What happened?
The error 919 occurred in the current database connection "DEFAULT".
What can you do?
Note down which actions and inputs caused the error.
To process the problem further, contact you SAP system
administrator.
Using Transaction ST22 for ABAP Dump Analysis, you can look
at and manage termination messages, and you can also
keep them for a long time.
How to correct the error
Database error text........: "ORA-00919: invalid function"
Database error code........: 919
Triggering SQL statement...: "FETCH NEXT "
Internal call code.........: "[DBDS/NEW DSQL]"
Please check the entries in the system log (Transaction SM21).
If the error occures in a non-modified SAP program, you may be able to
find an interim solution in an SAP Note.
If you have access to SAP Notes, carry out a search with the following
keywords:
"DBIF_DSQL2_SQL_ERROR" " "
"ZTEST5" or "ZTEST5"
"START-OF-SELECTION"
If you cannot solve the problem yourself and want to send an error
notification to SAP, include the following information:
1. The description of the current problem (short dump)
To save the description, choose "System->List->Save->Local File
(Unconverted)".
2. Corresponding system log
Display the system log by calling transaction
Restrict the time interval to 10 minutes befor
after the short dump. Then choose "System->List->
(Unconverted)".
3. If the problem occurs in a problem of your own
program: The source code of the program
In the editor, choose "Utilities->More
Utilities->Upload/Download->Download".
4. Details about the conditions under which the e
actions and input led to the error.

Runtime.getRuntime().exec doesn't work
I write in my program this line:
p=Runtime.getRuntime().exec("/usr/bin/identify -verbose /tmp/cible.jpg > /tmp/cible.jpg.txt");
But the file cible.jpg.txt is not created!
Can you explain me?
advance thanks!
Best regards!!!It doesn't work because it is literally passing the "> /tmp..." characters as a command-line argument to the "/usr/bin/identify" program, as opposed to having the shell interpreter (which you're not invoking) interpret that to mean "redirect the output to this file".

L2TP on Cisco ASA 5505, just doesn't work??!
This is pretty urgent, client expects me to have this up by lunch today
So, there is this Cisco ASA 5505 ver 8.4.
Most things work but now I want to setup a vpn connection...
I have done this 2 ways, first by using the "VPN Wizard" in ASDM and then 5 hours later removing everything and configuring from cli.
And it just doesn't work, client (WinXP & Win7) gets "error 792" and sometimes "error 789" (both indicating problem with phase 1, I'm pretty sure of that)
Googling on those gives a few suggestions none works.
All I get in the log on Cisco is the "Error processing payload: Payload ID: 1"
Googling on that only comes up with a few pages telling me this message is caused by an error. (Yeah, I could never have guessed...)
For the cli config, I followed this tutorial carefully (3 times actually...)
http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/secu...html#wp1117464
I'm using PSK for IPSec, entered same on Cisco and client - checked several times, this is not a password/PSK issue.
Ports opened on Cisco: 500, 1701, 4500
(For a try I opened all ports, no change.)
And here's the "show run":

Slim doesn't works but LXDE is ok
Hello (and sorry for my english )
I installed today arch linux on my laptop. At the beginning, everything was ok, slim worked fine. After playing with the policykit issue (see "I won the struggle against hal and policykit": http://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=65070 )and installing the networkmanager (both are working now), slim doesn't works any more - I get a black screen with no mouse and nothing. I think that the problem is slim itself, because if I tipe "startx" from the commandline as normal user (after having killed X as root) lxde starts and everything works. I tried to reinstall slim but it doesn't works.
I don't know which files to post, so here are two of them
[swisstux@inspiron ~]$ cat .xinitrc
exec ck-launch-session startlxde
[swisstux@inspiron ~]$ cat /etc/rc.conf
DAEMONS=(syslog-ng polkitparser hal @cpufreq @laptop-mode @networkmanager @crond @alsa @slim)it says only this:
slim: Stale lockfile found, removing it
it is a bit slow (too slow, on another PC it is 10 times faster), but it works if I start it from the command line. just on boot it doesn't works.
edit: here is the log of slim starting at boot and at the end the log of slim starting from the shell: http://pastebin.com/m4b6fad81
second edit: I removed every "@" from the daemon's list in rc.conf and now it works. but it is still really slow

[SOLVED] - xset at startup doesn't work
I use the following command to set my screensaver options
xset dpms 30 60 300
After reading the Arch wiki, I found out that this can be made permanent by adding this to the xorg.conf or putting it in ~/.xprofile
Contents of xorg.conf

Still after doing all this, when I give xset q after a reboot, I get

If you have set up your .xinitrc the way karol suggests and it still doesn't work, you could delay it kicking in until X has finished loading
(sleep 15s && xset dpms 30 60 300) &

That may get around the problem bernarcher describes...

[SOLVED]mounting cdrom and usb devices doesn't work
Hello,
i have trouble mounting my usb devices. automount doesn't work and i can't mount them manually even as a superuser. here's the output of mount command:
mount: wrong fs type, bad option, bad superblock on /dev/sdc,
missing codepage or helper program, or other error
In some cases useful info is found in syslog - try
dmesg | tail or so
i can mount cdrom manually but i can't do the same for my usb stick and external hard drives. it always complains about the above regardless of the filesystem. my devices are working under windows and other linuxes so i know hardware is not the problem.
i'm using lxde with pcmanfm.
if you need any other files just ask.
thanks
Last edited by the gray (2009-03-16 20:15:18)above was the error when i tried to mount any usb device with "mount -t <type> /dev/sdc /media/mountpoint". and i couldn't mount any usb device as root from console. when i tried to mount devices using pcmanfm it just popped some empty dialogs and i couldn't find any mention of "IsCallerPriviliged failed" error so i (wrongly) presumed it wasn't that. i did try some of the other fixes mentioned in the forum with no success. but adding exec ck-launch-session startkde to my .xinitrc fixed the issue
thanks again

HI
i was upgrade ,and install the fontconfig ,then reboot
reboot
show this
systemd [1]:Default target masked.
kvm: dissabled by bios
welcome to rescue mode! type "systemctl default" or ^D to enter defauld mode.
i followed message
[root@archlinux Desktop]# systemctl default
Failed to start default.target: Operation refused, unit may not be isolated
then
# systemctl list-unit-files
i found this
default.target masked
graphical.target masked
slim.service enabled
display-manager.service enabled
but
# startx
is working .my xfce4 working well
just slim not work
then , i fould " graphical.target " is null
i edited it, now
cat /usr/lib/systemd/system/graphical.target
# This file is part of systemd.

then reboot, seems like solved "default.target masked" problem.
"default target masked. kvm: dissabled by bios .welcome to rescue mode! ......."no longer show
but ,slim still doesn't working

Restore mysql doesn't work with Runtime?
hi all
iam trying to restore a backup of mysql database,i took the backup using mysqldump.
iam using a correct syntax of restoring and i already tested it in the command line and it worked correctly
mysql -u root new_db < f:\backup.sql
the problem is when i try to use the same command with Runtime it doesn't work
here's my code:
try{ String command="c:\\wamp\\mysql\\bin\\mysql -u root new_db < f:\\backup.sql"; Runtime.getRuntime().exec(command); }catch(Exception e){e.printStackTrace();}
and i already read the recommended article
http://www.javaworld.com/javaworld/jw-12-2000/jw-1229-traps.html?page=1
but i don't know if there's something missing in my code
hope to find help
thanks in advancei implemented the backup part after modifications and it worked correclty:
try{
String path=textfield1.getText().replace('\\','/');
String file_path=path+"/"+"backup.sql";
File backupFile = new File(file_path);
FileWriter fw = new FileWriter(backupFile);
Runtime runtime = Runtime.getRuntime();
Process child = runtime.exec("c:/wamp/mysql/bin/mysqldump --user=root --lock-all-tables --opt library");
InputStreamReader irs = new InputStreamReader(child.getInputStream());
BufferedReader br = new BufferedReader(irs);
String line;
while( (line=br.readLine()) != null ) {
fw.write(line + "\n");
fw.close();
irs.close();
br.close();
}catch(Exception e){e.printStackTrace();}but when i try to implement the restore part as above it doesn't work
could anyone tell me please where's the error?
try{
String path=textfield2.getText().replace('\\','/');
String file_path=path+"/"+"backup.sql";
System.out.println(file_path);
File backupFile = new File(file_path);
FileWriter fw = new FileWriter(backupFile);
Runtime runtime = Runtime.getRuntime();
String command="c:/wamp/mysql/bin/mysql -u root lib < "+file_path;
Process child = runtime.exec(command);
InputStreamReader irs = new InputStreamReader(child.getInputStream());
BufferedReader br = new BufferedReader(irs);
String line;
while( (line=br.readLine()) != null ) {
fw.write(line + "\n");
fw.close();
irs.close();
br.close();
}catch(Exception e){e.printStackTrace();} -
Embeded command line doesn't work
Can you tell me why this doesn't work
It won't work when there is a | or > involved in the syntax
Runtime rt;
Process prs;
prs = rt.exec("tifftopnm sample.tif | gocr -");
OR
prs = rt.exec("ls > outputFile");
And this example will worked fine.
prs = rt.exec("ls -alt");
Thanks,
TomI use an alternative form of exec()

Hi!
I've got following strings in crontab:
00 20 * * * /home/user/script.sh 2>&1 > /dev/null
0-59 * * * * /bin/date
However, both of them doesn't work. There's no output in terminal for second string.
Here's what /var/log/crond.log shows (for "date", for example):
Dec 4 20:37:01 localhost crond[12029]: FILE /var/spool/cron/user USER user PID 12101 /bin/date
Dec 4 20:37:01 localhost crond[12102]: mailing cron output for user user /bin/date
Dec 4 20:37:01 localhost crond[12102]: unable to exec /usr/sbin/sendmail: cron output for user user /bin/date to /dev/null
As far as I know, sendmail can't cause these problems. In my case, it just won't send e-mail notification about completed job.
I've also tried to add PATH and SHELL par-rs, but with no success.
PATH=/usr/bin:/usr/sbin:/bin:/sbin
SHELL=/bin/sh
What can cause such problem?

You can't -- it has it's own virtual terminal, which is what it emails to you if there is any output.
You could redirect it to say /dev/console (instead of /tmp/test) but that will go to the physical terminal so probably not what you want.
What is the problem you are trying to solve that you want output to your terminal? (EDIT: that's the point of cron... It runs tasks on a schedule, without the need for you to login)
Well, I just want it to work as it should. I'd like to see output in my terminal. I suppose I need to install MTA to see output. Is it right?
Also, scripts still don't work even with output redirection:
00 20 * * * /home/user/script.sh > /path/to/outputfile

Invalid Form value passed?!
Hi there, We recently migrated to CF MX 7 from ol' CF 5. This error started appearing, and I'm not sure but maybe it is related to text encoding on the site. This error appears (sometimes!) when certain text is entered in the textarea box for posting
