Executable jar referring to external library

dear reader,
I developed a swing tool which uses xml generated by xerces for socket communication contents. I'd like to the classes that I made to an executable jar.
Just making executable jar file is simple. I followed the guide on the web.( thanks you all guys for that).
However, once the jar file need to refer to xerces to generate xml file, it fails to refer to the library which is located as './lib/xerces**.jar'.
'./' means the location that my jar file is located.
the purpose of this system is a run in any OS.
Actually I found a way of using Ant. and using manifest file.
In the latter case, the string "Main-Class = " stop me to set referred path.
and the former Ant case, I am not sure if the values are validated or i am using the exact tag.
I tried "Main-Class = test.MainClass", "Main-Class = test/MainClass.class", etc. and even with <manifest .../>, it doesn't work.
is it possible to refer to external jar file as lib?
give some clue.
best regards,
from moon in the sky...

Sorry, let me explain a little bit better. I am new to java and eclipse and terminology has never really been my thing but lets try this again:
I am trying to turn my project into a JAR file. My project needs an external jar (AvayaPushSDKLib) in order to run. I have my code running fine in Eclipse, but the moment I export it, it gives me the "Exception in thread 'Main' java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: com/avaya/phones/push" followed by several other errors, one of which says "Cause by: java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: com.avaya.phones.push".
In Eclipse these run fine. Here is the files that are currently in each directory:
./Server1.0/
          /server/
          start.jar (I created the jar file here)
./Server1.0/server/
          /start/
          MANIFEST.mf
./Server1.0/server/start/
          AvayaPushSDKLib.jar
          PushClass.class
          ServerStart.class
          UserInterface.class
          PushClass.java (all .java files will eventually be removed)
          ServerStart.java
          UserInterface.javaI hope this makes more sense. Thanks

  • How to use a jar from a external library DC Project?

    I followed the steps of how to create DC, External Library Project, which contains the jar I want.
    I understood that this type of project can't be deployed so I build and deployed other DC Project from the type J2EE server component Library and added it to it's public part. What do I do next, to actually use the jar and it's imports?
    Thank you,

  • NWDS SPS 09: Jars not in external Library - Patch available?

    Hello experts,
    I am facing the problem described here:
    https://forums.sdn.sap.com/click.jspa?searchID=131779&messageID=2755058
    The result of the discussion is that the jars not being included in the external library is a bug of NWDS SP 9.
    Is there already a patch available? I searched throught Service Market Place but there is only a patch for Developement Infrastructure (DI Build Tool).
    Thanks for help,
    Enrico Lenk.

    Hi Maksim,
    Here you are the content of application-j2ee-engine.xml from EAR project

    Not sure what's the prefered option, if use these libraries as external jars or add to my project as dependency

  • Using External Library in Web Dynpro - Error

    Hello,
    I want to use an external library in a web dynpro. I use WAS 6.40 SP12.
    1. I have created an dc web dynpro app
    2. I have created an dc external library app
    3. I have importet the jar to the external library
    4. I have published the jar as public part
    5. I have imported the public part to web dynpro
    If I build the project I get no error. If I deploy an run the project then I get an error stacktrace:
    java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: com/sap/netweaver/bc/rf/util/uuid/UUID
    NoClassDefFoundError - I think the jar-file was not deployed. What is wrong?
    Greetings
    Thomas

    Hi THomas,
    Please explain how you are adding the jars into the publicpart of the Libary DC.
    You need to create 2 public parts .
    1. Assembly
    2. Compilation
    You need to add your jar to above two public parts.
    Then you need to add above two publicparts to your webdynpro application.

  • Can't wrap External Library DC project.

    Hi all,
      I do these procedure:
    1. create a External Library DC,
    2. then create two public part : compilation and assembly,
    3. add jars to the two public part
    4. build dc
    5. Create a second DC of type web dynpro
    6. add used DC  compilation and assembly
    7. write my test code use jars added in step 3
    8. build DC
    9,deploy
    After deploy and view in EP, my web dynpro DC can't find jars added by External Library.
    And i can't find external jars in deployed ear file.
    My NW is 7.0 SP9, if someone know which step i have missed.
    best regard

    hi Alka,
      i did the procedure follow the blog, but still not success.
      There is some difference. When i add jars to public part in External Library DC, it do not create ExternalLibs auto, but info creating public part of two choice:
      1. provides an API for developing/compiling other DCs
      2. can be package into other build result(e.g.SDAs)
    and i try the all two choice and add it to u201CJ2EE Server / Libraryu201DDC, it can't succeed. i can not find jars in sda file. jars contained were null when see the "J2EE Server /Library" in visual administrator.
    best regard.

    Its working fine.
    Now i added one more jar file in External library and build it . add some classes in 2nd DC and build it . build the 3rd Dc then Deployed the 2nd and 3rd DCs.

    Rashmi,
    Following observations from the error log:
    a)  DC temp/jxljar1 is External Library DC; if I am not wrong.
    b) Once the J2EE DC is deployed; automatically jxljar1 should also be loaded in server
    Coming to the issue you are facing; plz let us know following points:
    a) Are you trying to transport the content from one landscape to the other i.e. development to QA?
    b) During what operation and in which unit(DTR/CMS/CBS);you are facing the issue?
    Regards,
    Ganga

  • Using external library jar

    Hi everyone,
    I am working on a J2EE 1.3 project. I have a external library jar file at, for example, /myproject/lib. My EAR has to access that external library jar. Moreover, the library jar is not self-contained. It has to use the class that stored in the EAR file.
    I have seen a lot of articles that talking about using Class-Path attribute in the manifest file but that seem not work in my case.
    Could any one have any idea how I can call a external library jar file which is not self-contained under J2EE 1.3 spec? Thank you very much.
    Jacky

    In J2EE 1.3 there was no portable mechanism for extending the appserver-wide classpath of
    a J2EE appserver. However, most appserver's have some way of doing it. You'll need to
    consult the documentation of whatever implementation you're using.
    However, in that case you cannot have code in the appserver classpath with dependencies on
    code in a specific J2EE application. The dependency can only occur in the other direction.

  • Using External Library in a DC problem (SP16)

    Hi,
    I've been trying to get the example that Valery is outlining in his <a href="/people/valery.silaev/blog/2005/09/14/a-bit-of-impractical-scripting-for-web-dynpro">Blog</a>.
    I've done it exactly as Valery says, but I can't get it to work. I create the External Library DC, add the jar to Public Part (purpose Assembly) and build. Builds ok.
    I then proceed to creating the J2EE Library. It is created ok. I then add the External Lib I just created to Used DCs. This goes ok. I build the DC. There are warnings:
    Warning: Warning: Source folder does not exist, will be ignored: server
    Plugin initialized in 0.03 seconds
    Warning: No runtime information available for development component type External Library (sap.com), cannot validate runtime dependency.
    And:

           [cda] WARNING: Ignoring invalid runtime dependency on js/jars (orion.com), type External Library
    I've tried nearly every combination of Dependency Types When adding the used DC to J2EE DC. The jar never ends up in the SDA file in gen\default\deploy or jar in gen\default\public. I only get different types of warnings.

    There is an issue with SP16 in using External library DC.
    Go through this Jars not included in J2EE Library DC SDA. This thread deals with the same issue.
    Hope this helps.

    I have created executable jar file using following command where manifest file contains Main-Class and Class-Path entries.
    jar cvfm app.jar META-INF/* lib/* *.class
    So here app.jar contains my external jar's in lib directory
    but when I move app.jar to another directory, it's doesn't get my external files.
    I'm not getting this problem as these jar's are in app.jar
    class-path entry in manifest file:
    Class-Path: lib/abc.jar lib/xyz.jar
    Pls help me where it is getting fail?
    Thanks in advance,
    Vikas

    Java doesn't handle jars within jars. Your library jars need to be outside of the executable jar as in
    dist - main.jar
          - lib  -  lib1.jar
                 -  lib2.jar

  • Reference external library movieclip in library with AS3

    Hello, i am able to load at runtime a library asset in flash
    cs3. i do this by setting up its linkage property and setting its
    base class. for eg
    Class: MyButton
    Base: flash.display.MovieClip
    then in my document class, say i had
    com.kofi.InitializeTemplate, my class looks like this
    package com.kofi
    import flash.display.MovieClip;
    import MyButton;
    public class InitializeTemplate extends MovieClip
    var testButton:MyButton;
    public function InitializeTemplate():void
    trace("the button class has been called");
    testButton = new MyButton();
    addChild(testButton);
    however, once i bring in an external library asset(which i
    have already exported and set it base class etc), i am unable to
    call this shared library asset with as3. anyone know what i am
    talking about?

    Hi Sigiswald,
    well it seems SAP also considers that a bug, if you go to the Service marketplace -> Support Packages and Patches -> SAP NetWeaver -> SAP NETWEAVER -> SAP NETWEAVER 2004S -> Entry by Component -> Development Infrastructure, there is a SAP_BUILDT SP09 Patch 1 referring to note 993799 which says:
    "Jar files, especially from development components with type "External Library" are not assembled into the WDA archive for Web Dynpro development components."
    Are you using the original SP09 version or this patch?

  • How do i wrap a dll inside an executable jar

    hi,
    i have an executable jar that uses jni to reference native code in a dll.
    i can launch the executable jar only if the dll is in the same directory as the jar (or in system32).
    so, i figured if i added the dll to the jar it would work. no!
    what do i do to deploy only 1 executable jar?
    thanks

    Hi anonimuds,
    I see useless &ldquo;expert&rdquo; activities here instead of giving a real response!
    You can pack a native library with bytecode if you use WebStart technology. Let look at the example tested by me. It shows Windows MessageBox from the native method.
    Here is Java class HellowWorld:
    package test;
    public class HellowWorld {
    static {
    System.loadLibrary("HellowWorld");
    public static void main(String[] args) {
    DoHellow();
    public static native void DoHellow();
    }With javah I generated C++ header:
    /* DO NOT EDIT THIS FILE - it is machine generated */*
    *#include <jni.h>*
    */* Header for class test_HellowWorld */*
    *#ifndef _Included_test_HellowWorld*
    *#define _Included_test_HellowWorld*
    *#ifdef __cplusplus*
    *extern "C" {*
    *#endif*
    * Class: test_HellowWorld
    * Method: DoHellow
    * Signature: ()V
    JNIEXPORT void JNICALL Java_test_HellowWorld_DoHellow
    (JNIEnv *, jclass);
    #ifdef __cplusplus
    #endif
    #endifWith MS Visual Studio I made a simple library with the native method implementation:
    #include "stdafx.h"
    #include "test_HellowWorld.h"
    BOOL APIENTRY DllMain( HANDLE hModule,
    DWORD ul_reason_for_call,
    LPVOID lpReserved
    return TRUE;
    JNIEXPORT void JNICALL Java_test_HellowWorld_DoHellow(JNIEnv *, jclass)
    MessageBox(0, "Hellow World!", "Message", MB_OK);
    }I compiled Java code above to test.HellowWorld.class and JNI code to HellowWorld.dll.
    Then I packed bytecode and DLL to HellowWorld.jar with batch file:
    %java_home%\bin\jar cvmf MANIFEST.MF HellowWorld.jar test/HellowWorld.class ./HellowWorld.dll
    %java_home%\bin\keytool -genkey -v -alias vitaly -keystore OlejaKeystore -storepass MyStore -keypass Caretta
    %java_home%\bin\jarsigner -keystore OlejaKeystore -storepass MyStore -keypass Caretta HellowWorld.jar vitallyWhere content of MANIFEST.MF is
    Manifest-Version: 1.0
    Created-By: 1.4.2_12 (Sun Microsystems Inc.)
    Main-Class: test.HelloWorldBefore deploying the project to Intranet Site I prepared JNLP and HTML files.
    The content of HellowWorld.jnlp file is

  • Creating executable JAR from JDeveloper 11

    Hello
    Iv'e been using JDeveloper for developing my Java desktop app. It includes my classes and some additional external jar's. From within JDeveloper everything works fine, but now I want to deliver my app as a single JAR file (including the external jars).
    I searched and searched and couldn't find such an option. I tried creating deployment profiles and deploy my app but the resulting JAR was very small, did not include the utility jars and did not run in double clicking.
    I tried both Eclipse and NetBeans and they produced nice running executable jars of the sane application with only a few clicks. However, Im used to JDeveloper and would rather continue working with it. Is there a way to create a complete executable jar from JDeveloper (or maybe a plugin) ?
    If not than how do I do it manually so I can write my own generator ? (I know the basics, but how do I include the library jars ?)
    Thanks
    Guy Shilo

    Hi
    If you to want include external jars, don't keep those inside src folder but outside to that folder. Then only framework consider this as resources and will be packed while deploying. You can ensure it by creating a simple file using wizard. It will be displayed in application navigator under the folder 'Resources'

  • Cannot make executable jar file for swt application

    hi to all!!! i have started learning swt library and it seems nice to me, but i have one problem, i cannot run my application. The problem is that i cannot make executable jar for it.
    i'm using ecilpse_3.1.2 and have pluggined the visual editor for swt! yesterday i found one topic where was described the process of making the swt executable jar, i followed the instructions in the topic, but didn't resolve my problem, so if anybody knows how to achieve this , please help!!!!!!
    the instructions in the mentioned topic are :
    1. Make sure the SWT jar file is included in the Eclipse project build path
    a. Download the standalone SWT jar file from eclipse.org even if you already have the ones that come with Eclipse. It is called ?swt.jar? and you will package it with the executable JAR. Make sure it is the same version of SWT that you used to make your program.
    b. In Eclipse, import swt.jar via Project Properties::Java Build Path::Libraries::Add External JARs. (Make sure to include the source .zip file). Also make sure to select the swt package in the ?Order and Export? tab.
    c. At this point, you should be able to compile and run your SWT application in the Eclipse SDK.
    2. Do a standard Eclipse jar file export
    a. Right click on the main .java project file and select ?Export??.
    b. Choose ?JAR File? from the list.
    c. Select the relevant packages and .classpath and .project resource files
    d. Make sure ?Export generated class files and resources? is selected and browse to the location where you want the JAR file to be created.
    e. Specify ?Generate the manifest file? and don?t seal the JAR or any packages. Choose the class containing the main method as the ?Main class?.
    3. Change the manifest file
    a. Navigate to the JAR file you created and open it with WinZip.
    b. Open the MANIFEST.MF file inside and copy the contents.
    c. Create a new file called ?MANIFEST.MF? and paste in the contents of the old manifest file.
    d. Add the line ?Class-Path: <swt jar file path>?. For simplicity, you can just keep a copy of the swt.jar file in the same folder as the executable jar, in which case, the line is ?Class-Path: swt.jar?. Make sure there is a carriage return after the last line in the manifest file, or that line will not be parsed.
    4. Replace the manifest file
    a. Make sure the manifest file and the executable jar are in the same folder.
    b. Open the command prompt and navigate to the containing folder.
    c. Enter the command ?jar umf MANIFEST.MF <executable jar name>? to update the manifest file with the class path information.
    5. Package the JAR with SWT files
    a. Put the updated executable JAR file, swt.jar, and the associate DLL in the same folder. The DLL can be pulled out of swt.jar and should have a name like ?swt-win32-####.dll? on Windows.
    b. The JAR file should now successfully execute. On Windows, you can usually just double click the JAR file in explorer and it will open. If that does not work, the command ?java ?jar <executable jar name>? on the command line has the same effect.
    but a few steps aren't exact for me , for example : first, which jar i have to include in build path : downloaded or from plugins folder, second
    i have to incude source.zip too??? but it is only in downloaded zip file which includes both swt.jar and src.zip, and finally can anyone clarify next :
    "5. Package the JAR with SWT files
    a. Put the updated executable JAR file, swt.jar, and the associate DLL in the same folder. The DLL can be pulled out of swt.jar and should have a name like ?swt-win32-####.dll? on Windows."
    what does this mean, put these in folder or make jar from them????

In a suitable forum, though. An Eclipse forum or an SWT forum or something related to where you got those instructions would make a lot more sense than asking here.
    i have to incude source.zip too???No, of course you don't have to distribute the source code.

    what does this mean, put these in folder or make jar from them????It says "Put (them) in the same folder". You're asking whether that means to put them in a folder? Yes, it does.
