Execute a query in Jdeveloper using DB adpater

Hi All ,
In jdeveloper, using DB adapter i want to execute the following query ,
select segment1,eng_item_flag from table_name where segment1 in ('itemnumber1',’itemnumber2’);
In the query the operation IN got used so could you please help me to proceed further

DB adpater wraps the parameter by ' (apostrophe), so using IN clause it becomes '1,2,3,4,5.........n' and the query returns nothing.
You need to use below query in DB Adpater
select attributes,attributes2 from table name where partnumber in (WITH VALUE_LIST AS
(SELECT ? val FROM dual)
SELECT SUBSTR(val, (decode(LEVEL, 1, 0, instr(val, ',', 1, LEVEL -1)) + 1), (decode(instr(val, ',', 1, LEVEL) -1, -1, LENGTH(val), instr(val, ',', 1, LEVEL) -1)) -(decode(LEVEL, 1, 0, instr(val, ',', 1, LEVEL -1)) + 1) + 1) a
FROM VALUE_LIST CONNECT BY LEVEL <=
(SELECT(LENGTH(val) -LENGTH(REPLACE(val, ',', NULL)))
FROM VALUE_LIST) + 1)
Value of <partnumber> tag can be mapped to DB Adapter Inputvariable.
If you create a very big value list for IN query (greater than 4000 characters) you will get ORA-01704: string literal too long error. In that case you need to break value list and invoke this query multiple times.
Thanks

    Database is Oracle11G.

    SELECT /*+ FIRST_ROWS(n) */ ROWNUM RNUM, A.* FROM LINE A

    Execution Time:- 6.43989658 seconds
    Returns 2 resultsets
    In Pagination, we are using Modified version of SQL Query 3) with ROWNUM as mentioned below :-
    4) SELECT * FROM (
    SELECT /*+ FIRST_ROWS(n) */ ROWNUM RNUM, A.* FROM LINE A
    WHERE REFERENCE like '%KMF22600920%' AND ROWNUM <= 20 ) WHERE RNUM > 0
    Execution Time:- Infinite

    a) Instead of like if we use = in the above query it is returning the 2 resultsets (execution time 0.02699282 seconds)
    b) Instead of two % in the above query, if use one example REFERENCE like 'KMF22600920%' it is returning the 2 resultsets (execution time 0.03313019 seconds)
    Issue:- When using two % in like in the above query i.e. REFERENCE like '%KMF22600920%' AND ROWNUM <= 20 ) , it is going to infinite.
    Could you please let us know what is the issue with two % used in like and rownum
    5) Modified version of Option1 query (move out the RNUM condition AND RNUM <= 20)
    SELECT * FROM (
    SELECT /*+ FIRST_ROWS(n) */ ROWNUM RNUM, A.* FROM LINE A
    WHERE REFERENCE like '%KMF22600920%' ) WHERE RNUM > 0 AND RNUM <= 20
    Execution Time:- 7.41368914 seconds
    Returns 2 resultsets
    Is the above query is best optimized query which should be used for the Pagination or still can improve on this ?

    This would be easier to diagnose if there was an explain plan posted for the 'good' and 'bad' queries. Generally speaking using '%' on both sides precludes the use of any indexes.

  • Execute BI query in browser using SNEAK version

    Hi,
    I have NetWeaver 2004s - ABAP (SP6) installed along with NetWeaver 2004 - JAVA (SP15).
    Is it possible to execute a BI query in the web browser using these sneak versions.
    I get an error that an iView is missing - com.sap.ip.bi.bex
    I have read a few postings about this error and the conclusion I have come to is that I need NetWeaver 2004s (JAVA) for this to work as this iView is available in SP6 of NetWeaver 2004s (JAVA).
    Is that right ?
    If so, do I have to wait for a sneak version of NetWeaver 2004s (JAVA) or is it possible to patch/upgrade sneak 2004 NetWeaver (JAVA) to include this missing iView ?
    Thanks.

  • How to execute SQL queris in BPEL using JDeveloper?????..Please suggest

    Hi,
    I am very new to JDeveloper. Curently i am tryin to execute an SQL query from the BPEL process, there is an query in the source field and the output of the query is to be mapped to a variable field in the target xsd file. the query is fairly simple, like
    SELECT emp
    FROM emp_table
    WHERE emp_id=123
    The target field, namely "employee", is an element from the xsd file. I tried using Java embedding activity to connect to the db and execute the query through a piece of Java code, but couldn't find a way to assign the output of the query to the associated target field. however lately i also discovered the Database Adapter services which helps me to create a database connection, but still i am not sure as of how to handle and map the output of the query to the variable field. Is there any other way to execute database queries in Jdeveloper using BPEL process????????? Please suggest.
    Can somebody please help me in resolving the issue either through Java Embed activity or Database Adapter services??
    Thanks in advance

    maybe this one is helpful for you.
    best is to use the db adapter for this.
    if you just execute it you will see the format of the output in your audittrial (so some kind of list of employees). In bpel when you doubleclick the invoke-activity you will see the outputvariable.
    With use of xpath you coud loop over this 'list' (collection/array/etc) of employees and do with it whatever you want.
    Too see how you need to loop over the array you could check this :

  • How to Execute  sql query in PL/SQL ( a variable) with out using Cursor or REF cursor

    Hi
    I am building a dynamic query based on some conditions
    as an example
    v_query varchar2(2000);
    x1 varchar2(20);
    y1 varchar2(20);
    z1 varchar2(20);
    v_query := ' Select x,y,z into x1,y1,z1 From ... ';
    Is there any way to execute the query with out using cursor or ref cursor..
    Thanks
    Arun

    Both Tod and Eric provided valid responses given the format of the queory you supplied. Howver, if you want to use dynamic sql in either way, you need to be absolutely certain that your query will always only return a single row (e.g. SELECT COUNT(*) FROM mytable), because if it retuns more than one, your procedure will break unless you have an exception handler to handle either TOO_MANY_ROWS or OTHERS.
    If you want to pull in a lot of data without walking a cursor, you should look at the BULK COLLECT options.

  • Executing a query using API

    Hi All
    Is there any way to query OIM database using OIM API.
    i mean excuting a custom query.
    Thank you
    sas

    To execute a query, you can use the following:
    tcDataSet tcDS = new tcDataSet();
    tcDS.setQuery(<dbRef>, <queryString>);
    tcDS.executeQuery();
    <dbRef> -> If executing from adapter, you can use tcDataProvider or if invoking from a scheduled task use 'getDataBase()'
    <queryString> -> String containing the query.
    As mentioned in earlier replies, using direct queries is not recommended, you should be using APIs instead. tcUserOperationsIntf.findUsers(Map) wil work. Then on the tcResultSet object returned you can use getRowCOunt() to determine # of rows.
    Hope this helps.

  • Can execut a query in Oracle UCM to get View_Values instead of using GET_SC

    Dear All,
    i have a question that i had google it and didn't find anything helpful.
    i want to ask if i can execut a query in Oracle UCM to get View_Values instead of using GET_SCHEMA_VIEW_VLAUES service ?
    ie: asuume that we have a Table name called Employees (having empId, empName) and have a view named as Table name; Employees.
    instead of use the GET_SCHEMA_VIEW_VLAUES service to get the data of Employees, can i write a query, ex: select from Employees*_ to get the data.
    note: i have a connection parameter to connect to oracle UCM database
    any suggestions.
    Regards

    Yes, you can execute the query and store results into a result set (available also in iDocScript).
    There are two sample components that you could use as a starting point - see here http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/middleware/webcenter/content/howtocomponentsbundle-132171.zip or here for 11g http://bexhuff.com/2011/03/howto-component-samples-for-oracle-ucm-11g
    Take a look at DataAccess and DatabaseProvider from the sample stack.

  • Execute a query using ABAP  (XSLT transformation issue)

    Hello,
    I made the steps from this blog (part I, II and III).
    /people/durairaj.athavanraja/blog/2005/12/05/execute-bw-query-using-abap-part-iii
    When trying to run the XSLT transformation, I got the message that : XML invalid source file.
    I am not sure what are the steps for running a transformation, or running it for this case ,maybe something it's not ok. I just run it, did not provide any information.
    Any suggestions ? Did anyone use the function module described in this blog ?
    Thank you very much in advance.

    try giving
    CALL TRANSFORMATION (`ID`)
    SOURCE meta = meta_data[]
    output = <ltable>[]
    RESULT XML xml_out
    OPTIONS xml_header = 'NO'.
    and check - sometimes the codepages configured in the BW system tend to cause an issue... I am not sure if the syntax is right though - but you are basically trying to bypass any encoding that is happening in the query transformation....

  • How to execute SQL Query in Code behind Using infopath 2010?

    Hi,
    I've repeatable on infopath form, and want bind it throuth code behind from SQL table. My question is that how to execute SQL Query in code behind from infopath as well as how would get Query result to bind repeatable control?
    Thanks In Advance
    Shoeb Ahmad

    Hello,
    You first need to add new SQL DB connection then you need execute connection from code behind.
    See below link to create new connection
    http://office.microsoft.com/en-in/infopath-help/add-a-data-connection-to-a-microsoft-sql-server-database-HP010092823.aspx:
    http://www.bizsupportonline.net/infopath2010/connect-infopath-2010-sql-server-2008-table.htm
    Then use below code to execute this connection:
    AdoQueryConnection conn = (AdoQueryConnection)(this.DataConnections["Data connection name"]);
    string origCommand = Select * from tablename;
    conn.Command = origCommand;
    conn.Execute();
    Finally bind your table:

  • How can i know which index will be used when executing the query ?

    1 ) I have query in which i have 3-4 tables but there multiple index on one column .
    so how can i know which index will be used when executing the query ?
    2) I have a query which ia taking too much time . how can i know which table is taking too much time ?
    3) Please Provide me some document of EXplain plan ?

    Hi Jimmy,
    Consider the below example
    /* Formatted on 2011/02/04 21:59 (Formatter Plus v4.8.8) */
    CREATE TABLE FIRST AS
    SELECT * FROM all_objects;
    UPDATE FIRST
    SET object_name = 'TEST'
    WHERE owner != 'SCOTT';
    CREATE INDEX idx_first ON FIRST(object_name);
    SELECT *
    FROM FIRST
    WHERE object_name = 'TEST';
    It has not used index
    Execution Plan
    Plan hash value: 2265626682
    | Id | Operation | Name | Rows | Bytes | Cost (%CPU)| Time |
    | 0 | SELECT STATEMENT | | 58678 | 7334K| 163 (4)| 00:00:02 |
    |* 1 | TABLE ACCESS FULL| FIRST | 58678 | 7334K| 163 (4)| 00:00:02 |
    /* Formatted on 2011/02/04 21:59 (Formatter Plus v4.8.8) */
    SELECT *
    FROM FIRST
    WHERE object_name = 'emp';
    This has used the index
    Execution Plan
    Plan hash value: 1184810458
    | Id | Operation | Name | Rows | Bytes | Cost (%CPU)| Time |
    | 0 | SELECT STATEMENT | | 1 | 128 | 1 (0)| 00:00:01 |
    | 1 | TABLE ACCESS BY INDEX ROWID| FIRST | 1 | 128 | 1 (0)| 00:00:01 |
    |* 2 | INDEX RANGE SCAN | IDX_FIRST | 1 | | 1 (0)| 00:00:01 |
    From this we can come to the conclusion that, whether to use one index or not by oracle
    would also depend on the data which is present in the table. This has to be this way as
    we see in the bind peeking, if oracle sticks to only one plan, say only use the full table
    scan, it would be a performance hit when it searches for the second query ie where object_name
    ='emp';
    2.
    If we have a query like below.
    select * from emp
    where upper(ename) = upper(:p_ename);
    Evenif we have the index on ename column, oracle wouldn't be able to use the index, as there is a function in the predicate column. If you need oracle to use the index, we need to create a function based index as below.
    Create index idx_ename on emp(upper(ename));
