Execute ping from cmd prompt and analyze response

I found how to execute the ping command in a cmd prompt window. Is there any way to redirect the output so I can analyze the response?

What version of TestStand are you using? I don't know when this was added but in 4.2, the screen looks like the image below.

  • Executing WINWORD from both Windows and linux using Java

    Dear All,
    I have a problem when trying to use Runtime class to execute a winword document. My code is as follows.
    Runtime r= Runtime.getRuntime();
    try{
    r.exec("rundll32"+" "+"url.dll,FileProtocolHandler"+" "+"WINWORD"+ " "+"file://C://welkom.doc");
    catch(Exception ex){
    System.out.println("Unable to open the doc file:"+ex);
    When I execute this swing application with the above, the program is unable to open the specific file. And it says "Problem with the short cut, unable to open the file". When I run the program without the file name, it opens a new doc file.
    Attn: what I want to do here is I need to open the winword file from both windows and linux. So I cannot use the relative path of the WINWORD.exe file.
    Can anyone help me?
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards,
    Bala

    If you take a look at the api, there's an exec(String[]) method. This is the one you should use when calling a command with multiple parameters.
    so something like...
    String[] cmd = new String[] {"rundll32", "url.dll,FileProtocolHandler", "WINWORD", "file://C://welkom.doc"}
    r.exec(cmd);

  • Issues executing report from command prompt

    I'm using Oracle 10g Reports and attempting to execute a report from my workstation to output in a spreadsheet format. We don't have a Reports Server implemented at this time, so I'm simply connecting to the database with Reports Builder and running reports. I can execute a report just fine from Reports Builder and output as PDF; however I'm not familiar with how to output as spreadsheet. From what I understand, spreadsheet output cannot be accomplished through the tool, only from the command prompt. I've tried executing the a command inthe following format from Windows XP command prompt, but no luck:
    rwrun report=test_report.rdf userid=[usernam/pwd@db] desformat=spreadsheet destype=file desname=c:\temp\test_report.xls
    Nothing occurs...no output, nothing when this command is entered. What is the issue? Can rwrun.exe even be used for executing on the client-side? According to Oracle documentation, rwrun is the executable that runs a report using the OracleAS Reports Services.

    Hello,
    Even if the parameter is deprecated, you can use errfile=c:\temp\reports.err and check if there are some errors ..
    or check for a file reports.log

    You have to have the SQL Server tools installed on the box, to get sqlcmd.
    You then can connect with SQL authentication
    sqlcmd -S <Servername\Instancename> -U user -P password
    or with windows authentication
    sqlcmd -S <Servername\Instancename> -E

  • Execute Query from SAP Menu with Analyzer

    Hi.
    I have created a menu for users. This menu contains links to queries that are opened with Internet Explorer.
    Now, i want to have another link but instead of opening it with Internet Explorer, i want to open them with Analyzer.
    Is possible to launch a query trough SAP Menu link in Analyzer? User will not need to open it trough 'Folder + Open Query ..'
    Kind regards,
    Inigo.

    Here are couple of directions:
    1. Create a local workbook which has embedded query. Store this workbook on a remote server or BI/FTP and create a link from it. But once this link is clicked, that workbook will be downloaded and user will have to login again in BEx analyzer.
    2. If we can call transaction "RRMX" from web, it will eliminate problem of relogin.
    3. Launching BExAnalyzer.exe file from web should launch analyzer automatically. Check whether this file accepts any parameters like open dialogue or query name??
    Hope something helps..

  • Execute webdynpro from abap program and return to the caller program

    Guys,
    I have a question here.
    I know there is a way to call an abap webdynpro application from normal abap program by either using a class method, or use a function module WDY_EXECUTE_IN_PLACE by providing
    the webdynpro application or using CALL TRANSACTION statement.
    But, is there anyways that we can call the webdynpro application from abap program by supplying data to the webdynpro and display to the user from the portal, and then
    once the user do some manipulation on the data, can we transfer back the data to the caller abap program?

    hey ,
    you can pack any web-dynpro program in tranasaction code and run it from R/3 and not via portal  :
    search in " SAPTECHNICAL" how to do so  - for some reason i cant post a link here
    than you can use call transaction .
    regards

  • Process.Start - getting different output when running command using this method than I am if I run same command in CMD prompt

    Hi
    Creating an application to analyze .dmp files - all working well except this odd issue
    If I open command prompt and enter this command:-
    kd -z C:\Windows\MiniDump\042414-24632-01.dmp -c "!analyze -v"
    Then it works and shows me all the output I need (shown at bottom of post)
    If I run same command in VB.net using following code - then it doesn't give the same output - the bits I need at the end created by the !analyze -v switch don't appear
    Any ideas why it is not seeing the switch correctly - setting a breakpoint and checking contents of startinfo seems to be showing correct cmd line i.e. "kd -z C:\windows\minidump\042414-24632-01.dmp -c "!analyze –v;q""
    Dim myprocess As New Process()
    myprocess.StartInfo.FileName = "C:\Program Files (x86)\Windows Kits\8.1\Debuggers\x86\kd"
    myprocess.StartInfo.Arguments = "-z C:\windows\minidump\042414-24632-01.dmp -c ""!analyze –v;q"""
    myprocess.StartInfo.UseShellExecute = False
    myprocess.StartInfo.RedirectStandardOutput = True
    myprocess.StartInfo.CreateNoWindow = True
    myprocess.Start()
    TextBox1.AppendText(myprocess.StandardOutput.ReadToEnd())
    Output when run from cmd prompt:-
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Windows Kits\8.1\Debuggers\x86>kd -z C:\Windows\MiniDump\042414-24632-01.dmp -c "!analyze -v;q"

    Try it by opening the Cmd prompt as the actual process and passing the Filename and its arguments as the arguments of the Cmd process.  If you notice there is a "-C" before the Filename and Arguments in this example.  The "-C"
    tells the cmd to execute the commands and then close itself.  You can also use a "-K" which tells the cmd to execute the commands and keep itself open.  Being you are not showing the cmd window you don`t want to keep it opened because the
    user can`t close it so, that is why i used "-C".
     I don`t have the program so, you can just experiment to see what it does.  Maybe you should try using "-K" and show the cmd window by commenting out the CreateNoWindow line so you can see what is in the cmd window while testing.

  • Idea Centre K410 boots to cmd prompt only

    Hi, I'm trying to fix an IdeaCentre K410 with Windows 8 on it.  The issue is when I power on the computer it does the following:
    1. the "lenovo" logo comes up
    2. the system beeps once as the logo disappears
    3. the logo comes back after the beep
    4. a circle of dots starts spinning under the logo
    5. a blue (maybe bluish-green) box appears for a second or two (literally)
    6. cmd.exe pops up
    The command prompt starts out with X:\windows\system32>
    The C: drive has been reformatted so windows is no longer installed on it.  The X: drive (I'm guessing this is the recovery partition?) appears to be intact as the X: directory contains OneKey, Program Files, Program Files (x86), Users, Windows, and LRSBootTmp.log
    I've moved into the OneKey\main directory and attempted to run LRSBoot.exe (assuming this is the Lenovo Recovery System) but it pops up an alert box with the title "Caution" and then says "First parameter format is not correct, as X:XX.vbs"  I have absolutely no idea what that means.  The only thing I can do at that point is click "OK" (the only option) or hit the red x; both of which take me back to command prompt.
    I was also given the Lenovo Start Recovery Discs that came with the computer, but there is no option to boot from the cd/dvd drive.  I've gone into the BIOS (the only other thing I can get into besides cmd prompt) and looked at the boot settings but the only options I get are Auto, UEFI Only, and Legacy Only.  I've tried all three.  I've also checked the "Secure Boot" status but it is disabled and I don't seem to even have the option to enable it (though everything I've read says to leave it disabled).
    I've put the recovery disc and went through the various directories (in cmd prompt) trying several executables that looked like they might start the recovery program.  I get told every time that, "The subsystem needed to support the image type is not present" or "This version of..." insert file/executable here "...is not compatible with the version of Windows you're running. Check your computer's system information and then contact the software publisher."
    I'm at a loss what to do.  I've never encountered a BIOS that didn't have a boot from cd/dvd option.  Nor have I ever had a computer that only loads up exclusively in cmd prompt.  Any help would be much appreciated.  Thanks.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Ok so I solved it after several hours... Remind me never to buy a Lenovo computer or quite possibly Windows 8.
    For anyone else experiencing the same type of issue here is what I ended up doing.
    I pulled the hard drive from the Lenovo computer and hooked it up to my personal desktop.  I then ran diskpart.exe in the Run window (Windows key + R, or should be at the bottom of the start bar).  I used diskpart to delete every partition (including the "hidden" ones on the Lenovo hard drive; this included four partitions labeled "Recovery," one labeled "OEM," one labled "ETFS" (or something like that, I should have written it down), and the C: partition.  Once I had a completely unpartitioned unformated drive I used diskmanagement to format the drive using NTFS. Disk management is found by right-clicking the My Computer or Computer icon and clicking on Manage: this pops up Computer Management and Disk Management should be one of the options in the left-hand pane.
    Once this was done I shut down my computer, unplugged the power cable, disconnected the hard drive and then put it back into the Lenovo computer.  At this point I went into the BIOS settings on the Lenovo computer and reset them to factory default, with a slight change to the boot priority (I made the DVD drive the top priority, not sure if this was necessary or not).  I then inserted the Lenovo recovery disc 1, and allowed the computer to boot.  Since it could no longer find any remnant of the previous Windows 8 installation it quit trying to boot from the hard drive, and instead booted from the CD.
    Then I just had to wait (about 2 hours) for the whole recovery process to complete and pay attention to when it asked for the next recovery disc--which I don't think it actually used discs 4 or 5 but I put them in anyways just to have it immediately tell me to move on to the next disc.  Disc 6 did finish the process however so no complaints.  Once the discs were complete it started unloading files in several cmd prompt windows and seemed to be stuck for most of the 2 hours at this point. However, a few of the cmd prompt windows are minimized and if you maximize them you will see it is working you just need patience.
    After it was all said and done I created the profile and checked for windows updates about 20 times (an exaggeration but not by much) and voila it now works.  Windows 8 is back on the computer and everything is running fine.  And to top it off I didn't have to call and deal with the Lenovo support.
    That said I'm not sure this is the best approach and if I had realized how screwed up the computer was I probably wouldn't have offered to fix it.  I don't recommend this approach unless you really feel comfortable in what you are doing or have nothing to lose.  Anyways thought I would share as in most cases there are several other people with the same problem.

    @Hariprasadbrk
    Do you mean you have use process class to start "cmd prompt" And want to display some output in it?
    If so, there is no need to use RedirectStandardOutput property. This property means the output of an application is written to the
    Process.StandardOutput stream.
    // Setup the process with the ProcessStartInfo class.
    ProcessStartInfo start = new ProcessStartInfo();
    start.FileName = @"C:\7za.exe"; // Specify exe name not cmd exe.
    start.UseShellExecute = false;
    start.RedirectStandardOutput = true;
    // Start the process.
    using (Process process = Process.Start(start))
    // Read in all the text from the process with the StreamReader.
    using (StreamReader reader = process.StandardOutput)
    string result = reader.ReadToEnd();
    Console.Write(result);

  • Unable to run discoverer report from command prompt

    Hi,
    I'm trying to run the discoverer report from command prompt and i need to schedule the same.
    How could i pass multiple values for the parameters?
    If i don't pass the optional parameters, the parameter screen is getting pop-up? How to skip optional parameters?
    Also, how to pass the data ranges (format for date parameters) ?
    I'm using the below command in command prompt:
    cd/d E:\oracle\BIToolsHome_1\bin
    dis51usr /connect username/password@database /opendb "TIMS-PCJ status Report" /sheet "TIMS observation status report (based on performed date)" /parameter "Test Number" 40351 /parameter "From Date" "01-JAN-2007" /parameter "To Date" "28-FEB-2007" /parameter "Observation Status" C /parameter "Observation Name" "Abdominal Girth" /export HTML "C:\DISCOVERER_REPORT_SCHEDULING\DIS_OUTPUT\PCJStatusOutput11"
    Any one please reply me. Its very urgent.
    Regards,
    Sreedhar

    Hi,
    How could i pass multiple values for the parameters? You should be able to use a comma separated list e.g.
    /parameter "Observation Name" "'Abdominal Girth','Abdominal Girth2'"
    How to skip optional parameters?I don't think you can. You have to supply all parameters and then decode out the parameters you don't need in the workbook.
    how to pass the data ranges You cannot pass a date range. You can pass a start and end parameters. The default format for the date parameters is DD-MON-YYYY but this can change depending on the NLS settings and format of the data item.

  • Prompts and physical Query Sequence

    Hi
    Hopefully someone will be able to answer my question. We have a answer with a filter and we have a prompt on the dashboard. The report only runs after the user has selected values from the prompt and clicked on the 'go' button.
    What I want to know is, is the Answer run first with the filter applied and then after the dataset has been returned from the database is the prompt applied afterwards? Or does the prompt act as an AND to the filter and a limited selection is retrieved from the database hence better query performance? If so when the user selects another value in the prompt the dataset is requeried in the database?
    Thanks
    Adnan

    I'm using option 2. The filter is on a different column and the prompt is on a different column. I have a default value on the prompt which does not exist hence when the user first navigates to the dashboard there are no results displayed. The use then selects a valid option in the prompt and clicks 'go' and the results are returned.
    The question is when the above scenario is played out are all the possible values which fall under the filter returned from the db and then the prompt applied to them or is the dataset restricted from the db using the prompt value?
    An easy example of this say I restrict my Answer on the Country field to 'US' and then have a prompt on teh State field. The prompt default is 'No Result' hence no results will be displayed when the user navigates to the dashboard. When the user select the value 'Texas' from the prompt does OBIEE query return all states from the database and then apply the prompt values of 'Texas' or is a limited dataset returned from the db i.e. in this case only records where the State is 'Texas' returned from the db hence better query performance?
    Hope this isn't too confusing.

  • SignTool.exe verify /pa returns exit code 1 from the code but works fine while running from command prompt

    Hi,
    I am using SignTool.exe from a new Process() to verify a codesigned assembly and it returns the exit code 1 whereas it returns exit code 0 while i run the same from Visual Studio Command prompt. Please let me know your thoughts...
    Here is my code snippet from VS2012 ultimate on Win7 PC.
    p = new Process();
                p.StartInfo.FileName = "C:\\Program Files (x86)\\Microsoft SDKs\\Windows\\v7.0A\\Bin\\SignTool.exe";
                string args = @"verify";
                p.StartInfo.Arguments =  args + " "+ "/pa " + "/v "+ name;
                p.Start();
                p.WaitForExit();
                pexitcode = p.ExitCode;
    //name = "C:\\Users\\v-maparn\\Documents\\Visual Studio 2012\\Projects\\CodesignVerification\\CodesignVerification\\bin\\Release\\Microsoft.IT.Core.dll"
    Thanks,
    Mani

    Hi Amy,
    Thanks for your reply. I am receiving the exit code 1 by the Process even though the SignTool is able to successfully verify the assembly. I ran the below command from command prompt and received no errors or warnings. I assume the exit code should be 0.
    I have also verified that this assembly has digital signature embedded as you can see from the output.
