Execution interrupted msg in workflow first step

Hi all,
Am getting a Message (in the message text tab) in workflow log (detail section). The very first step of workflow is an activity to "instantiate employee" details. Its been used in mostly all workflows. It was working fine in development. But now in quality, everyone workflow is in "ready" state at first step and in the msg tab, am getting a msg stated : "Execution interrupted". Could anyone tell me what could be the reason for the same?

I am slso getting the same error message " Execution Interrupted SWF 611 " while executing standard workflow .
Kindly guide me to resolve this . What type of customizing should be maintained in SWU3 to overcome this error .

I have existing WF. Its work fine in development System . But in Quality system Dialog Step stuck in Waiting Status. The Log Message is 'Execution interrupted' .
Note: Requested Start is taken care also executed T-code SWU_OBUF.

First Step in Workflow Verification

Hi,
I did the workflow configuration by using SWU3 successfully. For initial testing, i did Start Verification Workflow and i got the intial workitme in my SAP inbox. The i selected First step in Workflow Verification in my SAP inbox, but in the next sceen it was not displaying the Use Decision Steps (Immediatley and Later). It was showing blank screen. This is happening for all workflows (selected standard workflows for testing purpose). Initial workitem is displaying in my SAP inbox abd after executing nothing is displaying in the second screen. My understanding is becuase of authorization to execute the work item.
If any one faces the same problem, please share with me.

Check your container object and see the Decisions are alloted are not?
Standard Program - It will go to another user. it wont come to you.

ECN/ECO workflow(SWF_RUN611 "Execution interrupted")

Hi gurus,
we are working on ECN/ECO workflow.
Once ECN is created in CC01, our workflow triggers.
we are calling subflow from main WF for enhancing the materials of the Engineering change number(ECN).
Subflow will take the material to different departments for enhancing the views like,
Purchasing views by purchasing dept,
quality views by quality dept,
sales views by sales dept,
etc.
This whole process is working fine with single line items(materials) & also multiple line items.
But, somehow, today it is not returning back to MAIN WF from Subflow.
It is displaying message as,
Message Text:               Execution interrupted.
Exception:                      0
Error Type                      0
Area                               SWF_RUN
Message                        611
Is there any system issue, or some issue with workflow process.
B'cos, it was working properly till yesterday.
Any help will be of gr8 use.

Tried out all below options.
But, still not resolved.
Actually, when i create ECN in CC01 manually & testing, it is working fine & control returning back to MAIN WF.
But, when the data is coming from middleware(Tibco), it is not working.
& strange thing is, it has worked earlier with the same setup/config.

Processing workflow reject on first step

Hi all,
May i know how to process reject code when workflow reject happens on the very first step.
I understood that if happens on the second step, we should process the reject code on the entry event of the first step, but may i know how it happens on the first step?

Review/Edit Revision, or Review/New Revision types of workflow steps provides an option, but not necessity to modify the content (the current, or a new revision). Therefore, yes, it is possible to have a Review/Edit Revision step with zero reviewers. It will forward processing the next step (note that you could define Entry, Update, or Exit event scripts for this step, so a "zero reviewers" step can serve as a fork).
On the other hand, it is not possible to jump to a Review step after rejection. From whatever reason it follows the design that rejection expects the content item to be changed, which cannot be done in a Review step. Another (IMHO illogical) design aspect of REJECT is that it does not execute the Exit event.
Having asked the first question, yes, you could place an arbitrary zero reviewers Review/Edit Revision step in front of a Review step to achieve that REJECT returns to the Review step (it will return the the Review/Edit Revision, but follow immediately to Review).

Workflow stuck at the very first step

hi,
as venugopal suggested, check whether the event was triggered and then check whether the WF has actually started or not. you can check this using transaction SWEL or SWI1.
if the event was triggered but WF hasnt started then you might not have activated the event linkage. this can be done in the "basic data" of the WF in the "start events" tab.
Since you have mentioned that "The workflow is started and its stuck at the first step", probably the WF has started.
can you specify the error message that you are getting?
what is the fisrt step in your WF?
give some details.

Problem in Workflow matching step

Hi,
I am facing a problem in Workflow matching step. I have user kaushikb assigned to it.
Execution Type: Any Single, Assignee Type: User and Execution Type: Any Single.
Match Record Scope: Records vs Records, Strategy: MDM_NAME.
This Strategy: MDM_NAME is based on 3 rules: MDM_NAME1, MDM_NAME2 and MDM_NAME3.
MDM_NAME1 is done based on transformations MDM_NAME1[XFM], MDM_NAME2[XFM] and MDM_NAME3[XFM].
Now my problem is even after matching and merging a large number of records it is not going to
the next step. Do I need to match and merge all duplicate records? If the Matching process is rerun
the score becomes less as the same records are compared again. After this the link assume gets activated and then clicking it activates the next step.

Hi Kaushik,
Match step is an Automated step in the MDM workflow.On selecting this step you need to mention the strategy that needs to run on the records to match them.When you reach the Match step you need to Perform the step to run the mentioned Strategy .
When you Perform the Match step it will display the Matching result provided you select the Matching mode in MDM data manager.
You can merge or not merge the matched records Once your Matching is performed by the system, You can move your Workflow to the Next step which is Process.
When you are selecting Any single as your execution type it means you have more tahn one user for executing this task but you want any single one of them to perform it.
So whenever you have selected Any single as the excution type for any process .The user accepting to perfrom the task needs to Accept the task .
So when User1 wants to perform the task he will have to select Accept and then proceed with the task.
When the owner of the workflow is testing the entire workflow he needs to Assume the task as he is not the Assigned user but the Assumed one.
So if you have build your workflows correctly and moving in step as explained you should be able to select the next step

"Application" workflow bypassing step

My G3 iBook runs Tiger 4.11 and classic 9.2.2 which is activated at startup. To help someone who is not too computer savvy I have written a 2 step workflow - the first does some cleanup (no output) and the second invokes a classic program.
When I run this from inside automator it goes well, but if I save it as an application and invoke that, the first step completes and the whole thing finishes. (Although I am sure it worked when I first wrote it.)

There is only one workflow of 2 steps.
First step is Run AppleScript which always runs and has no output.
Second step is Launch (Classic) Application. This runs when the workflow is run in Automator, but not when it has been saved as an Application and Double Clicked.
In the second case the Menu Bar shows step 1 completing and then goes blank.
There is no error message.

Workflow start step performs Exclusive checkout

We need to upload data to records that are in workflow and checked out by the workflow start step. Unfortunately the workflow start step performs an Exclusive checkout of the record which means that the background MDM Impor Server user cannot automatically join the checkout, the user first needs to be invited to the checkout, which needs a manual step of modifying the join permissions of the checkout, which is not what we want to do.
I have also noticed that when an existing record is checked out Exclusively the user's roles are pulled through into the permitted roles section of the join permission screen of the checkout. When a new record is checked out Exclusively the user's roles are not pulled through to the permitted roles section of the join permission screen of the checkout. This looks like a bug to me.
We are using MDM 7.1 SP08.
Please advise any workarounds to this problem. I can think of a few, but none are very elegant, e.g.:
1. Use API to invite import user to checkout before import is started (requires coding)
2. Get the user that owns the workflow to manually invite the import user (not guaranteed to remember)
3. Complete workflow and stat new wokflow without chekout before import is started.
Any advice will be appreciated.

Its not a bug in MDM these are the constraints in MDM :(.

In our lanscape we too have a scenario where we are creating/ records in MDM leaving Material Number Blank (Record Add workflow).
But once this record with balnk Material Number is syndicated to source system we stop this workflow.
Now from source system through change pointer we get a file immediately with material Number and MDMID.
which we process through MDIS and trigger another workflow(Record Import)
I guess this matches with the third option you described to start and stop workflow and trigger import.

Experiencing problems with workflow- validate step

I am experiencing problems with workflow->validate step in Hyperion FDM.
I am not able to export unmapped dimension members to Excel.
Earlier everything worked fine.
But now all of a sudden it has become a serious problem.
when I click Export to Excel,processing starts and it's never coming to an end.
Every thing is getting stuck up.
Could any one suggest solution to this as it is delaying my deliverable.

Try opening excel first, then doing the export from FDM.

Hide Save Draft Button in the first step

We had the same issue on my most recent project. From the INITIAL step....ie. start the process....you can not (at this time) hide/disable that feature/button. As said above, it CAN be done in steps after that simply by setting the workflow binding on the parameter. Not sure how/why SAP missed the need for this. I would think it would be a "checkbox" of sort in your "Process Start" configuration in the Design Time....but nope.
In our case, we wanted to allow it for manager initiated processes, but not for employee initiated ones. Therefore, we set up a "check" on the workflow task that creates the "draft" work item to "trash" the ones from ESS and properly handle the ones coming from MSS. It was....interesting. haha We also changed the default "save as draft" message that shows so the users would know what had happened (ie. not supported in ESS).
Hopefully this becomes a config setting in coming EhPs.

PO Release workflow: mail and Sub workflow/Dialog step related issue

I have crated a two step work flow for release of purchase order with two release code X & Y.Creator C1 creates PO.A mail is trigger to X&Y .In first step X release the PO.
Then Notification send to C1 & Y that the Release of 1st step is effected.Then Y releases it and a mail of completions is sent to C1 .(Structure is as follows: Po creation ->Mail to XY->
X releases(PO release)->Mail toC1 &Y->Y Releases->Mail to C1&X->Workflow complete).My workflow works fine but have following problems.
1) System gives the three stages mail properly.But after completions also generates 2nd stage mail(Mail toC1 &Y).I have used "process control"at the end but
still the mail reoccurs.How to control it?
2) Two types of messages appears in the SAP business w/p of user.Sub work flow and dialog step.4 mesgs appears in the sap inbox of X & Y .2 of
Sub work flow & 2 of Dialog step.How can i control it .Can i set 1 out of them?
3) After completion ,work flow log shows two Graphical Workflow Log.One is completed and other up to stage ->Mail to XY-> How to clear this

How to skip first step in a FPM roadmap?

Hello, Our client wants the first step disabled/not displayed in a standard roadmap that has been delivered with the software. The standard roadmap uses component FPM_GAF_COMPONENT and consists of 4 steps (and is based on an application config and component config). They want to directly display the second step with certain values in the second screen pre-populated from a custom application (the second screen would in normaly flow be populated from first screen). So I have two tasks:
1) disable first screen/step
2) populate second screen/step with data from custom application
This is my first exposure to FPM and roadmaps. I tried deleting the first step from the component configuration and making the current 3 step process into a 3 step process, but this does not work and did not seem to be the way to go. On looking around I see some documentation for methods HIDE_MAINSTEP to be used thru IF_FPM_GAF interface, but am not sure where to implement this interface or what code to use in the method.
Can anyone provide step by step suggestions and examples of codes please?

I was able to get to the HIDE_MAINSTEP method. However, when I try to hide step 1, which is my requirement, there is a short dump. If I hide step 2 or 3 out of the 4 step process, the sequence of screens is showing up appropriately. However, when I hide step 1, there seems to be some problem in mehod WDDOMODIFYVIEW of view CNR_VIEW of component FPM_GAF_COMPONENT where in a loop for the first loop pass, even though step 1 is hidden, the code is trying to access the road_map_step element which is not instantiated. We have opened a note for this issue.

The recommendation is always to make another ID for use with a paid books account. And while I can't swear this is at the root of your issue, you should in any case reach out to Apple for assistance on this one, I think.
